i'm very glad you figured out the true pattern of the tiffin versus harding. you are so right about the image searches also if one person lists something wrong and someone does list similar or takes the name as truth and then lists theres as that and so on and so forth all of a sudden theres a bunch of ppl misinformed and possibly spreading the misleading information. vicious cycle lol. happens a lot with glass patterns especially since the moulds were passed around company to company a lot of times and if the pattern was changed at all the differences are hard to discern unless you know exactly what you are looking for
My Gran had the peach lustre set with laurel leaves, which she used often…but her pride and joy was a complete set of Bubble, in the pale blue. My Granther bought her the Bubble on their fifth anniversary, when it was brand new. It came out only for very special occasions, and lived in a glass front display case the rest of the time. She also had a large collection of teacups, each unique and very pretty. We bought her a new one every Mother’s Day. Very occasionally she would bring some out for tea with visitors, but they weren’t for casual use. The kitchen cupboard was filled with mismatched pieces of fine China that had once been part of expensive dinnerware sets. We used those for everyday…and I always wanted this kind of squared off plate with a flowing edge. She had a lot of depression glass for daily use, and my own love of glass came from living with all of hers. I still have her Jennet uranium glass lemonade pitcher in Cherry Orchard pattern…and I still use it.🖤🇨🇦
I remember twisting that metal on the side of the maxwell house coffee can! With the key that came on the bottom. As a kid, It would hiss with the freshness packed in when released and the smell of fresh coffee was delicious!! Even tho I never had coffee as a kid! I love it today!
Awe! My Grandmother's name was Mildred. Born in 1911. You don't hear that name anymore. My grandfather just called her "Mid". Gosh I miss those 2 beautiful people! That generation lived 2 world wars, Korea, and Vietnam. They had a strength of character, courage and faith that you just don't see anymore.
The “Mildred” gravy boat was made by Mount Clemens Pottery that was located in the suburbs of detroit. That’s so cool to know there are pieces out there from the now defunct factory. I’m from the area and loved going there with my aunt as a kid. ❤ Great finds.
I like your reason for buying up a Mildred gravy boat whenever you see them. It is an unselfish act and a courtesy your site provides. That builds clientele who appreciate your thoughtfulness. 👍
Love the Thrift Haul outings! Always have. I don’t mind voice-overs. Your home bungalow is shaping up nicely - totally joying that transformation. Great video content as always. I always look forward to the next one!
I miss the shopping expeditions. I don't follow anyone's live sales, too technical for me!---If you plan on looking at vintage toys, follow your own advice and practice!---As a lover of old furniture, I'm very excited for you & that bookcase!!! When I was putting together a bedroom vacated by the last of the 'kids', I went to my favorite antiques & collectables shop with a shopping list, found most of what I was looking for too!
Hello Scott. Always enjoy your videos. I just read in the newspaper about Wanamakers store in Philly was the first one to offer a white sales in January. Their thinking was new year new sheets.
I just can’t wait til a big old stack or box of ephemera reaches out and grabs you. Then we’ll have a lot to chew on. L & N on the spittoon stands for Louisville & Nashville Railroad. Beer cans came with that same cone shaped top too. People will surprise themselves with how much they remember from books. Wow, wow, wow, on the bookcase. Now, on to the first editions curated section. Bookends and leather bounds. Thanks for allowing me to ecstatically ramble. Only the first month, 11 more months of stellar detached retina finds!
I love the bookcase, cut glass vase, and the lamps. Your hat is perfect. Keep on Thrifting. I just wish some stores would remind themselves that they are ment to have low prices, as in the store title. 🙋♀️🦋🍀🌺😇🦋🍀🌺😇🦋🍀🌺😇🦋🍀🌺😇🦋🍀🌺😇🦋🍀🌺😇🦋🍀🌺😇🦋🍀🌺😇🦋🍀🌺😇🦋🍀🌺😇🦋🍀🌺😇🦋🍀🌺😇🦋🍀🌺😇🦋🍀🌺😇🦋🍀🌺😇🦋🍀🌺😇🙋♀️🙋♀️
I get bold now and go up to the oldest employee and ask for it to be turned down- remember this is your workplace 😁 Well done on the bookcase - you did get it for a steal!
Top video, Scott. That twin door Bookcase Cabinet was superb. You just can't beat the Classic, Old Furniture. Beautiful style and elegance. It's Untouchable. A little Stain, Varnish and some TLC and it would look great at yours. To have the Shelving with it is ideal. Absolute bargain. To just come across such an item just makes your Day. It made my Day ! 😂 So really entertaining as always and your Commentary and Knowledge is always excellent. Kind regards to you, Sir .... 👏🇬🇧👍😉
LOL. I have a Lazyboy recliner. : ) I did that exact thing with RS Prussia books. I also asked to handle any piece of RSP in the antique mall display cases. I got a feel for them.
So glad you saved that book shelf. Too bad you didn't snag the other one. Man it had legs for days. Such a great day for you. Always pays to go thrifting in the rain!
So many great pieces of furniture. Congrats on the bookcase. Iused to collect Raggedy Ann & Andy and have never seen the beanie pair in the beginning of video. Looking forward to the haul.🥰
The bookcase!! Wow! After I’ve viewed all the aisle shelves in one direction, I go back through them in the opposite direction. I like to be thorough. 🤓
That was a Norah Wellings "Jolly Boy" sailor doll, made in England. Missing his sailor cap with an RMS ship name on it. Ask Vinny about them, he has at least 2! (B. Shackman did replica dolls and a lot of other replica items - fun to look at but not old). Congrats on those fabulous lamps!
Scott, Would you please do a video on the bookcase veneer repair when you get to it? I have an antique tiger oak round side table with barley twist columns that needs veneer repair.
Scott love the haul. Love the lamp with the flowers 🌺. But my favorite by far was the bookcase love the channel and many blessings to you and your family 💞💖
Agree with you on splitting up the sets. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve seen someone get excited buy some plates or cups and spend half an hour looking to find the matches only to leave everything on the shelf because their hunt was so frustrating.
That cuspdor was from the Louisville and Nashville Railroad, heavy so that it would not tip over when the railcar was rocking and rolling. It's old! Love both sets of lamps and the fabulous bookcase.
YES....just needs one tiny veneer repair on the front and a few nails in the back. I was thrilled. I paid $69.00 for a bookcase that is worth about $300 and no assembly required!
I just love to come along to the thrift shops with you! Your stores back East has beautiful items!! I loved the lamps that needed a new cord. So elegant!! The cut glass compote was exquisite!! Imagine the uses!! Any vintage glass just makes me excited!! Great finds found. Especially your beautiful book case!! Wow!! Little bit of polish!! Stunning!! Thanks again. Always fun and informative. Take care!!
@@gailcathey5642 aww. Well, where I live this state really lacks vintage items!! You'd be disappointed here. Back East is older and had very wealthy people.
Always enjoy a fun time checking out what the Thrift Stores have " in store " for the day. Love that Bookcase, like you sort of said, It was a steal. My Grandmother made me my Raggedy Ann doll, I still have it today ( 60yrs later ).
I have that gravy boat!! It belonged to my great grandma. Mines not in the best of shape though. It has those, like crackling but not cracks, can't remember what that is called.
Congratulations on your new bookcase! I’m looking for a glass display case. Slim to none here. The price tag would be more like 600.00. Excellent trip Scott. ❤️🐩
I hate how goodwill prices sets separately for dishes. It makes absolutely no sense because most likely it will end up in a landfill. I'm so jealous over that bookcase. I'd love to have one for displaying all my vintage glass.
Loved that yellow lustre/black teapot...your shopping videos are my favorite. I don't have time to watch live sales, frankly the greeting and chitchat annoys me...but that's just me. I sure appreciate learning from you!
I have that Mildred gravy boat and mine is embossed on the bottom with USA. I didn't realize that other pieces weren't marked. It is an orphan and I use it to store twine wrapped on old clothespins.
I shop at thrift stores and even antique stores now. I don't always find things at a bargain but when I went to Goodwill a few months ago, I couldn't get past the prices. I have faired better with the latter and don't plan to shop with them anymore. It's a shame they got greedy!
J M Fields was a department store on the east coast in the 1960’s. We had one in CT. It closed in the late 70’s so you were correct on the date of the Raggedy Ann doll.
That was a positively pleasant way to spend 40 minutes. Thank you for making these videos. Calm, pleasant entertainment is so hard to come by and yet so needed right now. Congrats on snagging that bookcase! Please consider showing us how you will do the veneer repair. Thanks
Hi Scott. The yellow teapot looks English to me. I'm always afraid that all that strapping tape holding the lid in place is going to pull off all the luster from the teapot--when the tape is removed. Yikes. I just got to the point of the lamps and bookcase. You did so well! LOL, I would have that bookcase full of RS Prussia and antique glass.

I'm 65 and always liked the smell of coffee but not the taste. Go figure.

Now I love you even more … you had a Fred Astaire CD in your cart. I’ve been a fan since I was 10.
I remember twisting that metal on the side of the maxwell house coffee can! With the key that came on the bottom. As a kid, It would hiss with the freshness packed in when released and the smell of fresh coffee was delicious!! Even tho I never had coffee as a kid! I love it today!
Good memory
I remember that smell but it was with folgers coffee. But I've been a coffee drinker pretty much my whole life.
I'm 66 and that memory was filed way back - you described it beautifully, down to the hiss of freshness! Thanks for the memory!
This has to be my favorite video so far. The thrifting, 'Educate Yourself 101', the finds!! Loved it all. My mother's name is Doris! 😆

Nice to hear the rain on the roof
I am thrifting vicariously through you, Scott! 😁
NO.....you are right along with me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I'd love to go thrifting on the east coast. I live on the west coast and finding true antique is rare unless you are at an estate sale.
I like your reason for buying up a Mildred gravy boat whenever you see them. It is an unselfish act and a courtesy your site provides. That builds clientele who appreciate your thoughtfulness. 👍
My mother's name was Mildred. I purchased a cream and sugar for my granddaughter's house warming. She loves it. I learned about it from you.🤗🎉
That is awesome! Mildred is a lovely name!
Love the book case, cant wait to see it in your place. Thanks for taking us along.
AND the music......
Are you the sweetest! To send pieces to a viewer….
The knitted skullcap is spectacular ! Good look.🙂 The second pair of lamps..gorgeous!!!
Thank you! 😊

Scott, today’s shopping trip was epic!!!! The lamps, the cut glass compote, and your bookcase are fabulous! I would say you SCORED!😉

Well done on the bookcase - you did get it for a steal!
Both cans were neat. I do remember the smell of coffee as those cans opened! Yum! My favorite was the 1930’s secretary. That was delicious!

That bookcase- WOW! Please show us when you set it up😍😍
Your teapot looks like this: Antique 1930’s Arthur Wood & Sons Gaudy Welsh Hexagonal Teapot Imari pattern
I’m one of those tea pot collectors. 😉I have 225 of them. The yellow one was beautiful.
Love those lamps with the flowers. Your bookcase is wonderful.
I love your skullie, Scott. Looks great on you!
Thank you Lacie!
Gravy boat gorgeous pattern, but coffee can with lid definitely a winner 💜 UA-cam Waynesville NC 🇺🇸 Veteran

I sure will try!
Thank you! I love your bookcase!
My Grandma had Mildred pattern. I spent a big chunk of my childhood on my Grandparents farm in Kansas. My sepia toned memories.
Love bridges thanks for driving me across it!

Wow! I love that bookcase and what a deal/steal !
Love those lamps. Can't wait to see cabinet in place.
I have a Mildred platter I thrifted a few years ago.
The oil tin is beautifully designed.
