Here's the problem I find with this theory. Please take no offence as I mean none. The Book of Prophecies cannot change past or future events. The Book of Prophecies was written by the Master of Masters who was/is able to see the future. The book is able to conjure worlds, beings and powers that have yet to exist. We have been given no indication that the book can change events. The book doesn't predict the future, it tells the story of the future and was written by the Master of Masters. So, going in a datascape of the book would be pointless as it would do no effect.
Perhaps, you may be right. We don't know that. What we DO know, is that the book is no ordinary book. There is some kind of magical element to it, as it is able to conjure those worlds, and it has the past present and future written within. Why not attempt to go and change that past so that you rule? Perhaps it will do nothing... perhaps it will change everything. There is no answer right now.

Patrick Mahoney I completely understand what you have been saying. But there is no way to prove that changing it in the datascape would not have any effect. Just as I am saying it could rewrite history, and you are saying it cannot, is something neither you or I know the answer to unless it is told through the games in some way. We have the information, that this book is not an ordinary book. We do not know the full extents of what tampering can do at all, but to put it on the level with ordinary books isn't something we can do either. It has unique properties (proven by conjuring) that we need to find out about as we learn more about the book. Even if not to rewrite history, Maleficent could be going in to find what's best to conjure out into the world, so that she can use it to overrun Disney Castle. The Datascape is not useless, but also cannot be said definitively either way what changing it would do. Just as it is speculation for me to say Maleficent could rewrite history with it, it is speculation for you to say trying to rewrite it would do nothing, since it is a situation that has not yet been approached in the games. I don't think Maleficent can rewrite history within the book of prophecies/datascape. However I think she probably could take objects and such from there. Like how when the munny pouch and the blue gem was taken out from the data Twilight Town. Maleficent might even to take it a step further and be able to take people out of the book, creating her own personal army of followers.
Maleficent could have time-travelled back to the time her world became a sleeping world. KHX could also take place in a sleeping world, replaying events leading upto its destruction... You're welcome.
i know I'm not Dean but I figured I'd try to help. i can only guess she got it from day break town. since that's the last place I saw it. there are theories that xehanort is the 6th Foreteller. if that's true then maybe for some crazy reason HE gave her the book. that's all conjecture though from watching a ton of kh videos

yo dude i just watched a hanful of your videos, and i wanted to say that as someone who's very much an arts/storytelling person, i appreciate you taking the effort to develop theories that think across the whole series, and arent just getting hung up on a single detail and writing a book about why pixar films take place in the same world and shit. i like that you acknowledge your subjectivity and arent just trying to "uncover a conspiracy" to show how clever you are, but are actually trying to understand story stuff. thanks for making such above average analysis/theory videos!
I'm assuming that Maleficent was trying to use the book of prophecies to do something like this, but all she got out of entering this world was knowledge of the black box and what it contains, which she is seen seeking in KH3 trailers. Her goal will likely be connected to obtaining the box and ultimately using it to control the world/manipulate history.
So I'm back here again after watching Everglow's walkthrough on KHx because of the fact that Unchained X is way too difficult for F2P players. So, I thought that I'd watch Everglow's walkthrough for the story before watching X Back Cover and I just finished the story. Honestly, it was a great story and the ending had me so emotional! Now, to check this video out and another and then finally watch X Back Cover!
Well, after exploring X Back Cover, I'm pretty sure Maleficent will be disappointment with the end result, as the Book of Prophecies has no magic at all, unfortunately for her, as the book is just written by the Master of Masters for his apprentices. So putting in the Data Escape will just let her see the events that is yet to happen, so that she'll have an accuracy of how she'll take advantage in Kingdom Hearts 3, I take it. So, it'll have no effect in the Realm of Light, just like when Jiminy's KH1 journal got explored. But for her rotten luck, the Player (and according to Soraalam1, DATA Player) is there to thwart with her plans, so in Unchained Zero, the Player has the mission in stopping Maleficent to see the future. Either way, Maleficent will end up the loser... for the 5th time.
There are 2 things abut your theory that I think you may have over looked. The first is that it doesn't seem to cover Chirithy being a Spirit, and the second (which is really a theory on its own) is that Maleficent said that the Date Escape seemed familiar to the Book of Prophecies which seems to imply that she's experienced the Book of Prophecies (although she most likely didn't have the book herself).
so correct me if I'm wrong guys plz. khx is basically been the data version of what really happened in the past but unchained x is what happens when maleficent enters the book to change what will happen after the events of khx. so that means the player doesn't die at the keyblade graveyard and was actually transported to unchained and unchained 0 takes place maybe a few months/years maybe after the ending of khx when maleficent managed to enter the book?
This actually makes good sense.. what we may be seeing here could actually be a future scene in kh3. In the Kh 3 orchestra trailer we see maleficent looking for the mysterious black box in mount Olympus. Because she is also seeking the book of prophecies, I think it’s reasonable to conclude that what’s in the box is a copy of the book. From this scene we can infer that she successfully finds it, transports herself into it, and proposes a threat by rewriting history.

So I rewatched the Key story line and in the first cutscene Kairis grandmother is telling about the War she says "Small fragmants of light survived" who I would assume to be the Dandelions and the ones who were sent to Unchained. Kairis grandmother then says that the fragments of light, aka the Dandelions, "Survived in the hearts of children". Does that mean the Dandelions were sent into childrens hearts to serve as the light?
I just assumed that the player was in a sleeping world when he woke up since the player has a dream eater and it would make sense that you end up in a world that hasn't been fully revived. But your theory is just as good, I hope this gets explain in the future
The Keyblade War was so much more frightening when it's history was kept in shadow, and we only had the dark words of Xehanort to rely on. This "it's only a dream!!" stuff kinda ruins it for me, honestly. :p
I honestly think that your Maleficent theory is the best I've seen! After watching this it got me thinking. It seems the player, Chirithy and Maleficent possibly arrived to this world around the same time. Is it possible that Chirithy was taking us to the dandelions but Maleficent altered our path by entering this Book of Prophecies datascape? Maybe Pete ended up going where we were originally suppose to go? (not 100% sure on the Pete idea though lol)
I think the beginning where we wake up has something to do with the Realm of Sleep/Chirithy. Knowing Nomura, we're probably in some sort of dream inside a dream inside a Book of Prophecies inside a datascape or something.

We know nothing of how Maleficent got her hands on the book of prophecies and where it's location was, I'm very curious where she found such a mystical, ancient and powerful book.
This game now confusing as hell... I know that since the beginning everything is just a data from the book including our player. But keyblade war is a real event in the past so again "what" is the player? Is he/she a part of something very important in the KH series?
Now, consider that we are still in the book then does this book have an "end"? At first I thought that the end of the book is when it foretold the keyblade war happen. But now come to think of it, may be the keyblade war that the book foretold is not the "first" keyblade war but the keyblade war in this present (Sora timeline).
it's not. sora isn't alive yet when that keyblade war happens. so far there's only one that we know of. and in this secret ending the player is dreaming that she/he participated in it. but they really didn't. we can assume that somehow she/he is now trapped in the database with maleficent. at least that's my understanding of it
This is an amazing theory! Just one little comment: Maleficent probably doesn't use a computer. She probably wouldn't know the first thing about using one and she and the book would have enough magic between them that she doesn't need a computer. Besides, the one in re: Coded was built by Chip and Dale specifically for the journal. She would have to build a new one or somehow steal the one from Disney Castle. Now if this is a preview for "Season 2" it seems like we'll get to visit more worlds. But which ones? Enchanted Dominion, of course, maybe Castle of Dreams, so we visit every princess's world, and Neverland, because it's in almost every other game. If we get to go to a new world, I think Sherwood Forest, from "Robin Hood", would fit perfectly with the storybook feeling.

There's still one thing I don't understand: why did Maleficent try to get her hands on the data escape in DDD? She knew about the book of profecies so... why would she try to obtain the digital worlds from Jiminy's Journal if, as you said, they are basically useless? Does she need those to use the book properly?
This is pretty damn competent. If this is the direction they're going for, then after Chirithy says "Let's go home", You start Unchained X Mission 1. Reliving past missions. Because the "Unchained Realm" that Ava mentioned is actually inside the Book of Prophesy, where time does not exist and so the player's training can overlap with the time Maleficent spends in the book. Both the Player and Maleficent enter at the same chapter, so even though they entered at radically different times from the real world, they appear at the same "time" in the book.
I dont think so because the player doesnt even know who chirithy is when they first started training and second thing, player knows that they joined the Dandelions and even Chirithy.
I did get the feeling of just reading into a book. Have you noticed how whenever you're about to engage an enemy in Chi, the stuff in the borders (anything, trees, rocks, etc) fade out? Technically speaking, it's to give us a better view of the battle field, since when you Attack the enemy keeps moving back until it's almost hiding behind something in the screen. Then the battle is over and the stuff that faded out returns back. So apart from the book pages kind of graphics, that battle effect makes me feel as if I'm physically passing through a barrier and getting IN the scene. Fitting when we take into consideration your theory about Maleficent self-insert into the Book of Prophecies. And the very beginning of the game it's the viewer fading into the book. Seriously, this woman is becoming a real threat. I have a feeling retrieving that book from her will be one of the quests for KH3. It's just too important There's also Xehanort who apparently can foresee future events or something like that? Sora and Co. are being cornered.

I dont think maleficent would be able to get the book of profecies, but i guess se entered the sleeping world by some way. and probably the sleeping world have something to do with the book, since the events of khx were ilusions from the book. so maybe se went there to find the book.
pls give me your honest opinions on my take... 1. the player just woke up from unchained 2. maleficient did something and diablo came back to report... it went well 3. she set up the thorns so that sora couldnt get in 4. pete went to the loo while maleficient was setting up the thorns... this would kinda explain why sora is known and how the storyline branches off because they SHOULD only be relieving past memories ... how the player gets there is the biggest mystery to me...
well i was right about one thing. i thought to myself that Maleficent mentioned about the book of prophecies in re coded but wasnt sure how she got it after that until you explained it. if shes going to change history will she mess up Xehanorts plan and take kingdom hearts for herself. or maybe she can make the foretellers appear in KH3 for the final war but that seems unlikely. but i feel she will change some thing that will effect KH3

Well it is kinda of weird trying to figure out how the hell would Maleficent get the Book of Prophecies but as a way I think of it, she's always working behind the scenes while Sora and the others inckuding Xehanort carry out the main plotline. Whenever she is reintroduced back in multiple points of any Kingdom Hearts game she always has something up her sleeve so she must've got it in her own way that I can assume as like she said to Pete in KH2 in The World That Never Was...."You underestimate me".

More than changing the future throug datascape, I think Maleficent might want to use the Book of Prophecies to unveil secrets of the past and know the future. Her actions have no conséquences on the real world but she can gather both knowledge and Darkness that has been, is and will be. I do not know how powerful they intend to make her but if she really is going for this scheme then it looks like she wants Kingdom Hearts for herself. Do not forget, Maleficent is the Disney Worlds equivalent of Xehanort. But her strength is the fact that she is a never ending, never dying fairy nightmare. In my opinion, and as they developed her in the series from the very beginning, she could be the lingering Darkness, the link to future dangers after Xehanort defeat. I hope she will be a recurrent and strong opponent in the Kingdom Hearts series.

this theory is a good 1. I mean I had played the mobile phone release, and this is 1st time I saw this. up until I did I thought that events in daybreak town were it's own. I thought that the player when went to other worlds possibly time traveled, and that events in those world's were same timeline, the part with Mickey would make this impossible.
Makes sense, the data scape could be what we're playing now on our phones (Unchained X) so when that ends we might get more info with Back Cover. It's not entirely impossible maybe Malifcent is inside the book (Unchained X) with Pete looking for information to use it to world the worlds or something I can't see it changing events as its not stated it can.. but more like she went inside the book to see what's gonna happen.. maybe she could use that as an advantage against Sora and his friends. Unchained cause the player at the end of Chi is Unchained... And restarting in Unchained Chi? So does that mean Unchained X will be the restarted Book of Prophecies Altermate reality thing? I absolutely love your theory and in my opinion it is the most believable. I only have one question. How do both dreameaters and heartless exist throughout this game at the same time? Dreameaters can only exist in a world that is asleep, and heartless can only exist in the real world (not a sleeping world). Also to my understanding the first heartless were created by Apprentice Ansem while he was studying the human heart, so how can there be heartless in the past? I may be completely wrong or missing somethithing, but can anyone explain this to me?
Alona Katana there are two forms of heartless. pure breed heartless and emblem heartless. the one your referring about how apprentice ansem creating are the emblem heartless. and as for an explanation as to how dream eaters and heartless are coexisting in the same worlds, dean actually covered that in a video explaining how kingdom hearts x (chi) is a simulation
Well he was told of the keyblade war and with greater detail with the knowledge of the lost masters from hearing of it by there master and he does have at this point the oldest keyblade maybe this will also gave him knowledge of the books

Dream Eaters (or at the very least the Chirithy creatures) were created by the Master of Masters in KHX. This is some loose thinking, but perhaps all of today's Dream Eaters are just evolutions of the original Chirithy, the Realm of Sleep is just the present day name for what Ava called "The Unchained". Maybe all the Dandelions and their Chirithies went into Unchained to avoid the battle, but when it was time to leave and wake up, the Chirithy decided that they will stay there in "The Unchained" or "The Realm of Sleep" to make it their new home, say goodbye to the Dandelion wielders while they went back to the real world. That would explain why Chirithy, a Dream Eater (likely the ORIGINAL form of Dream Eater), exists/existed in the real world. And if they once existed in the real world, there is no reason they wouldn't appear in the books datascape for that time period. That is just another theory I perhaps should have saved another video for, but you asked so I gave you my thoughts. It's just my speculation of course.

So putting in the Data Escape will just let her see the events that is yet to happen, so that she'll have an accuracy of how she'll take advantage in Kingdom Hearts 3, I take it. So, it'll have no effect in the Realm of Light, just like when Jiminy's KH1 journal got explored.
But for her rotten luck, the Player (and according to Soraalam1, DATA Player) is there to thwart with her plans, so in Unchained Zero, the Player has the mission in stopping Maleficent to see the future.
Either way, Maleficent will end up the loser... for the 5th time.
There are 2 things abut your theory that I think you may have over looked. The first is that it doesn't seem to cover Chirithy being a Spirit, and the second (which is really a theory on its own) is that Maleficent said that the Date Escape seemed familiar to the Book of Prophecies which seems to imply that she's experienced the Book of Prophecies (although she most likely didn't have the book herself).

so correct me if I'm wrong guys plz. khx is basically been the data version of what really happened in the past but unchained x is what happens when maleficent enters the book to change what will happen after the events of khx. so that means the player doesn't die at the keyblade graveyard and was actually transported to unchained and unchained 0 takes place maybe a few months/years maybe after the ending of khx when maleficent managed to enter the book?
This actually makes good sense.. what we may be seeing here could actually be a future scene in kh3. In the Kh 3 orchestra trailer we see maleficent looking for the mysterious black box in mount Olympus. Because she is also seeking the book of prophecies, I think it’s reasonable to conclude that what’s in the box is a copy of the book. From this scene we can infer that she successfully finds it, transports herself into it, and proposes a threat by rewriting history.

So I rewatched the Key story line and in the first cutscene Kairis grandmother is telling about the War she says "Small fragmants of light survived" who I would assume to be the Dandelions and the ones who were sent to Unchained. Kairis grandmother then says that the fragments of light, aka the Dandelions, "Survived in the hearts of children". Does that mean the Dandelions were sent into childrens hearts to serve as the light?

I just assumed that the player was in a sleeping world when he woke up since the player has a dream eater and it would make sense that you end up in a world that hasn't been fully revived. But your theory is just as good, I hope this gets explain in the future
The Keyblade War was so much more frightening when it's history was kept in shadow, and we only had the dark words of Xehanort to rely on. This "it's only a dream!!" stuff kinda ruins it for me, honestly. :p

I honestly think that your Maleficent theory is the best I've seen! After watching this it got me thinking. It seems the player, Chirithy and Maleficent possibly arrived to this world around the same time. Is it possible that Chirithy was taking us to the dandelions but Maleficent altered our path by entering this Book of Prophecies datascape? Maybe Pete ended up going where we were originally suppose to go? (not 100% sure on the Pete idea though lol)
I think the beginning where we wake up has something to do with the Realm of Sleep/Chirithy. Knowing Nomura, we're probably in some sort of dream inside a dream inside a Book of Prophecies inside a datascape or something.

We know nothing of how Maleficent got her hands on the book of prophecies and where it's location was, I'm very curious where she found such a mystical, ancient and powerful book.
This game now confusing as hell... I know that since the beginning everything is just a data from the book including our player. But keyblade war is a real event in the past so again "what" is the player? Is he/she a part of something very important in the KH series?
Now, consider that we are still in the book then does this book have an "end"? At first I thought that the end of the book is when it foretold the keyblade war happen. But now come to think of it, may be the keyblade war that the book foretold is not the "first" keyblade war but the keyblade war in this present (Sora timeline).
We don't know that everything that took place in X was all data. Maybe the events in X are the real events that took place like Dean said.
it's not. sora isn't alive yet when that keyblade war happens. so far there's only one that we know of. and in this secret ending the player is dreaming that she/he participated in it. but they really didn't. we can assume that somehow she/he is now trapped in the database with maleficent. at least that's my understanding of it
This is an amazing theory! Just one little comment: Maleficent probably doesn't use a computer. She probably wouldn't know the first thing about using one and she and the book would have enough magic between them that she doesn't need a computer. Besides, the one in re: Coded was built by Chip and Dale specifically for the journal. She would have to build a new one or somehow steal the one from Disney Castle.
Now if this is a preview for "Season 2" it seems like we'll get to visit more worlds. But which ones? Enchanted Dominion, of course, maybe Castle of Dreams, so we visit every princess's world, and Neverland, because it's in almost every other game. If we get to go to a new world, I think Sherwood Forest, from "Robin Hood", would fit perfectly with the storybook feeling.

There's still one thing I don't understand: why did Maleficent try to get her hands on the data escape in DDD? She knew about the book of profecies so... why would she try to obtain the digital worlds from Jiminy's Journal if, as you said, they are basically useless? Does she need those to use the book properly?
This is pretty damn competent. If this is the direction they're going for, then after Chirithy says "Let's go home", You start Unchained X Mission 1. Reliving past missions. Because the "Unchained Realm" that Ava mentioned is actually inside the Book of Prophesy, where time does not exist and so the player's training can overlap with the time Maleficent spends in the book. Both the Player and Maleficent enter at the same chapter, so even though they entered at radically different times from the real world, they appear at the same "time" in the book.

Hmm that is a good point. The player clearly did not lose their memories either because flashbacks are shown.
I did get the feeling of just reading into a book. Have you noticed how whenever you're about to engage an enemy in Chi, the stuff in the borders (anything, trees, rocks, etc) fade out? Technically speaking, it's to give us a better view of the battle field, since when you Attack the enemy keeps moving back until it's almost hiding behind something in the screen. Then the battle is over and the stuff that faded out returns back. So apart from the book pages kind of graphics, that battle effect makes me feel as if I'm physically passing through a barrier and getting IN the scene.
Fitting when we take into consideration your theory about Maleficent self-insert into the Book of Prophecies. And the very beginning of the game it's the viewer fading into the book.
Seriously, this woman is becoming a real threat. I have a feeling retrieving that book from her will be one of the quests for KH3. It's just too important There's also Xehanort who apparently can foresee future events or something like that? Sora and Co. are being cornered.

I dont think maleficent would be able to get the book of profecies, but i guess se entered the sleeping world by some way. and probably the sleeping world have something to do with the book, since the events of khx were ilusions from the book. so maybe se went there to find the book.

1. the player just woke up from unchained
2. maleficient did something and diablo came back to report... it went well
3. she set up the thorns so that sora couldnt get in
4. pete went to the loo while maleficient was setting up the thorns...
this would kinda explain why sora is known and how the storyline branches off because they SHOULD only be relieving past memories ... how the player gets there is the biggest mystery to me...

well i was right about one thing. i thought to myself that Maleficent mentioned about the book of prophecies in re coded but wasnt sure how she got it after that until you explained it. if shes going to change history will she mess up Xehanorts plan and take kingdom hearts for herself. or maybe she can make the foretellers appear in KH3 for the final war but that seems unlikely. but i feel she will change some thing that will effect KH3

Well it is kinda of weird trying to figure out how the hell would Maleficent get the Book of Prophecies but as a way I think of it, she's always working behind the scenes while Sora and the others inckuding Xehanort carry out the main plotline. Whenever she is reintroduced back in multiple points of any Kingdom Hearts game she always has something up her sleeve so she must've got it in her own way that I can assume as like she said to Pete in KH2 in The World That Never Was...."You underestimate me".

Yes, this being during or at least right before KH3 makes a lot of sense. Who knows, maybe Sora will get his hands on it and at the end of UX we see a silhouette of KH3 Sora entering the datascape. Ok, I'm getting too ahead of myself LOL, let's at least wait until this is proven true or false.

More than changing the future throug datascape, I think Maleficent might want to use the Book of Prophecies to unveil secrets of the past and know the future. Her actions have no conséquences on the real world but she can gather both knowledge and Darkness that has been, is and will be. I do not know how powerful they intend to make her but if she really is going for this scheme then it looks like she wants Kingdom Hearts for herself. Do not forget, Maleficent is the Disney Worlds equivalent of Xehanort. But her strength is the fact that she is a never ending, never dying fairy nightmare.
In my opinion, and as they developed her in the series from the very beginning, she could be the lingering Darkness, the link to future dangers after Xehanort defeat. I hope she will be a recurrent and strong opponent in the Kingdom Hearts series.

this theory is a good 1. I mean I had played the mobile phone release, and this is 1st time I saw this. up until I did I thought that events in daybreak town were it's own. I thought that the player when went to other worlds possibly time traveled, and that events in those world's were same timeline, the part with Mickey would make this impossible.

It's not entirely impossible maybe Malifcent is inside the book (Unchained X) with Pete looking for information to use it to world the worlds or something I can't see it changing events as its not stated it can.. but more like she went inside the book to see what's gonna happen.. maybe she could use that as an advantage against Sora and his friends. Time travel is a thing in KH sadly so I expected that.. lol that's what I got out of this anyways.

I absolutely love your theory and in my opinion it is the most believable. I only have one question. How do both dreameaters and heartless exist throughout this game at the same time? Dreameaters can only exist in a world that is asleep, and heartless can only exist in the real world (not a sleeping world). Also to my understanding the first heartless were created by Apprentice Ansem while he was studying the human heart, so how can there be heartless in the past? I may be completely wrong or missing somethithing, but can anyone explain this to me?
Alona Katana there are two forms of heartless. pure breed heartless and emblem heartless. the one your referring about how apprentice ansem creating are the emblem heartless. and as for an explanation as to how dream eaters and heartless are coexisting in the same worlds, dean actually covered that in a video explaining how kingdom hearts x (chi) is a simulation
But the real question is what all does Xehanort know about the book of prophecies?
Well he was told of the keyblade war and with greater detail with the knowledge of the lost masters from hearing of it by there master and he does have at this point the oldest keyblade maybe this will also gave him knowledge of the books

Dream Eaters (or at the very least the Chirithy creatures) were created by the Master of Masters in KHX. This is some loose thinking, but perhaps all of today's Dream Eaters are just evolutions of the original Chirithy, the Realm of Sleep is just the present day name for what Ava called "The Unchained". Maybe all the Dandelions and their Chirithies went into Unchained to avoid the battle, but when it was time to leave and wake up, the Chirithy decided that they will stay there in "The Unchained" or "The Realm of Sleep" to make it their new home, say goodbye to the Dandelion wielders while they went back to the real world.
That would explain why Chirithy, a Dream Eater (likely the ORIGINAL form of Dream Eater), exists/existed in the real world. And if they once existed in the real world, there is no reason they wouldn't appear in the books datascape for that time period.
That is just another theory I perhaps should have saved another video for, but you asked so I gave you my thoughts. It's just my speculation of course.
