This is the best kayak review I've ever seen. Most reviews are just "look at this" and "look at that" and useless "I like the color" kind of comment. This review has all the essential information. Thank you and I hope to see more reviews from you.
Great video thanks for taking the standing test and showing it from two different views. I just bought mine 2019 model. My 2016 started to lean to one side so I wrote to Ascend and Bass Pro, Ascend directed me back to Bass Pro. Bass pro was AWESOME! They took that 2016 off my hands and gave me a $400 discount!!! Spent $205 for it. Super excited and THANKFUL to Ascend and BASS PRO for that awesome customer service. Backing up their product.
I've got this yak. One thing that helps ALOT.... raise the seat. It's super easy. I just used a couple peices of angle iron and drilled a few holes. I used concrete fasteners to hold the mount down since the threads are so coarse
Good stuff young man.....especially the stand up assist strap.....you should patent that idea .....I'm getting older and got a new knee so that thing might be all the difference for me to be able to get up and down without flopping around...thanks. You got my subscription for this one so keep them coming .
I fished out of a walmart Sundolphin SOT fishing kayak for a year; I just bought a 12T; they had them on sale at Cabelas for $599, best move I ever made; number 1, you cant put a trolling motor on that 10 ft. Sundolphin; & number 2, there's so little roomin that 10 footer, it really makes fishing difficult sometimes; no, all the time.
Look up the scotty transducer mounts to mount the fish finder and transducers all in one quick removable mount. Get the #141, it only cost about $30 and I love it. It's extendable, swivels, and lifts up with the turn of a wing nut just in case you go through some some shallow water.
Thank you for this video. I love the trolley anchor and strap to help standing. I had my knee replaced a year ago and standing in my 12T is scarry to say the least.lol.... Great Video!!!
That's a good look Yak, man! I've got the Ascend 12T for pond hopping/creeks, and I've got the Ascend 133X for larger bodies of water that I plan on fishing for long periods of time. I've got a Minnkota with foot controls on the 133x, but no trolling motor on my 12t
4:54 if that trolling motor is 35 HORSEPOWER you're going to be hitting 60 mph on that thing LOL Great vid, thanks for the review! I just ordered the 12T yesterday.
Our kayak is going to be readjusted, used a car battery with the trolling motor and just not very stable. Lots of kayaks out there and every brand and make is different. Lots of trial and error. At least for us. Definitely like your Ascend Kayak. Looks good the way you rigged it out.
That kayak looks sweet. I'm going shopping for a yak today. There are some spots I want to try and a yak will make it much easier to access those spots. I have a 15 ft Jon boat but sometimes you need a kayak. Nice review man.
Awesome I just bought the same kayak haven’t even taken it out yet I’m doing the mods now you should try doing the seat mod and raising the seat if you haven’t already it makes it perfect specially since you put the assist leash on which I also did can’t wait to get her out happy fishing.
U can COUNTER the WEIGHT of the troll motor by adding sandbagS used for stabilizing camera mounts or carport canopy's on the OPPOSITE side of the kayak. Good looking kayak
If you haven't already, you should look into some of the 12T mods people have done. One guy raised his seat with some square aluminum tubing and it made for a lot of extra space under his seat. Also others have made modifications for their trolling motors to be on the rear of the kayak instead of the side. You might want to look into that to help with the balance issue you were having in this video. To help with the transducer being on the side. you might want to look into a trolling motor that comes with a transducer. Since you have a Humming Bird fish finder, I know Minn Kota is known for communicating with them.
Wooo Weee, a 35 Hp trollin motor?? haha You be a scootin along! Listen at 4:57. ... A dog leash makes a good stand up strap, but I think ya did good at modding so far. PVC is our friend. :-) You can make anything with Pvc.
Great review. That deck is nice even if not for standing. Just got my first for Christmas (a tamarack 100 Lifetime), and getting a good feel for it. Gearing towards fishing with some simple mods. Hopefully I can upgrade eventually cause I'm already looking at that Ascend at Bass Pro. Kind of worried about gators in my area cause the bayous are tight and not a lot of room to maneuver.
I think that the battery choice is just to big. 50+ lbs. Im going with the smaller batteries for them. I also picked up a kayak motor mount for the stern to keep the weight centered. Everything else looks good. I probably wouldn't stand on that front deck area, just use it for covered storage. Im only 5'7 and haven't had any issues with stability. the beam I believe is 32.5 inches so its pretty wide.
Timeless Vick I would recommend the 12t because my good friend bought the 128t and it didn't take long for him to get a gash in the hull so he returned the 128t to the get the 12t and him and I have been happy ever since
Good solid info on that kayak, to the point and what I wanted to know exactly. Thanks. It’s been a while since the upload now, do you still have this Kayak and have you ever tried it out in the ocean? I’d like to hear if it’s any good out in big waters. 👍🏼😃🤙🏼
Hello. Thanks for a great YT video. I am considering this yak and have one question. With all that added weight (especially the T motor and its battery) , and the fact you you seem a big enough guy, are you getting much water in the bottom of the yak? Thanks.
Heck yeah. I will let you know. I am supposed to be fishing ride the bull on Saturday but not sure if I will make it. You still have my email? Need some details
Good video and kayak, I have 2 of them. Like them, very stable, big platform, tracks good. On your yak dolly use air tires instead, keep same design. Thats how I made mines and it can handles any rough terrain. What would you recommend for a saltwater motor
Thanks for the tip! I think if you are going to do it then you should definitely invest in one made for a kayak. Like a torqedo. Unless you can find a smaller one that can run off of a low voltage battery. That was my biggest issues is the weight and transport of the full sized battery.
Hey man! Just subscribed to your channel and picked up 12T last night. How has yours been performing and are you still happy with it? Wish I lived in the south! I love catching REDS!!! No Reds in PA unfortunately > Tight Lines my friend!!
The boat is still great. I do a lot of fishing in the marsh and it's hard to go wrong with any 12 ft yak. I also fish a lot of points and I like to anchor up. Being a heavier kayak I would say that it anchors well with about a 6lbs anchor
I think so. But also, you will have to consider specifically what YOU want in your kayak. I bought this one because I fly fishing a lot and I am able to stand and cast. I also sacrificed a little speed since it's such a wide boat. Luckily for me I don't have to paddle far to find fish. I would say consider what is most important to you and it that matches this boat then go for it. To me it was a steal for $650 bucks
On the real though. This is a very good kayak review. Keep up the great work my friend. Good to see you have lil man with ya. Love to see that! Great job dad. Keep him outdoors! Thanks for the great video.
Discoveryy I have a 12T and have had it in 2+ ft waves. It handled great. I did not turn sideways to them as that would most likely be a mistake. The water i took on going into the waves drained well as i don't use scupper plugs. I would not say it is junk in larger waves just have to be smart about it.

I have that same problem how did u go about contacting them
I just got mine yesterday lol taking it out first thing and can’t sleep can’t want man as always stay onem!!!!

I use a jump and carry for my trolling motor. Its light inexpensive and small. We can fish all day in a fourteen foot canoe.
Great video.
What model of Jump N Carry?
Very good review. The deck idea genius! And keeping the dock rope in that small dry hatch...really clever.
Thant for sharing and hello from Canada 🇨🇦

Your video was great. Convinced me to buy a used one that popped up in my area. Thanks for making and posting the video.
I just bought one I'm stoked!!

And this is the review I've been looking for. Great job and thank you sir!
Nice vid man! Seems like a kool kat!
I thought you were going in the drink for sure.
I would have if trying to stand on the front.
Great review!!
Nice job so far
That kayak looks sweet. I'm going shopping for a yak today. There are some spots I want to try and a yak will make it much easier to access those spots. I have a 15 ft Jon boat but sometimes you need a kayak. Nice review man.
I laughed out loud at 1:42 when he you realize the Velcro piece came off of the wood.
Nice video I really enjoyed it your kid has some good camera skills nice review on the yack the set up looks sweet

Sweet yak and rigging! I was on the fence after seeing your review of this boat. But I ended going with a sit on top! Tha is for sharing sir!
Waiting to get mine. thanks for the video.
I thought about an anchor trolly , but idk, I never had one before. I installed 4 rod holders also
Cool I have one my self and if you put a stand up assist strap from the front you can get on top of the platform But over all review 👍

Very good review, interesting video, keep it up and the good videos coming
Great review! I like the setup. It's all trial and error, I'm sure you will make some changes if you do post them.👍
Lol You're a brave man to stand on the front deck. Lol Thanks for the video. It was helpful.

You right bro! It will only be for those long trips out in the marsh.
Glad I found your video!!! In the market for a yak and was looking at this one!
"not sure if ill be able to stand upon here yet, but ima find out" lollol dope build fr though.
Buy a 20 to 24 inch wide seat holder it raises u about 8 extra inches up and u can add a different seat as well
Great video ! Thanks for sharing !
Have you tried installing stabilizer? You might be able to cast when you stand in the front of the kayak

Appreciate it bro!

Great video! I have the same kayak. Have you been able to fish standing up?
Hello. Thanks for a great YT video. I am considering this yak and have one question. With all that added weight (especially the T motor and its battery) , and the fact you you seem a big enough guy, are you getting much water in the bottom of the yak? Thanks.
Brooo that’s badass. Please tell me you still have that!!!!!!
we are going to Blind River Sunday.. you should go!
Heck yeah. I will let you know. I am supposed to be fishing ride the bull on Saturday but not sure if I will make it. You still have my email? Need some details
Anyone else want to do a trip Sunday meet us at Black Lake Club 25855 Black Lake Club Rd, Maurepas, LA 730ish
Great content man!

Only thing I miss about the ascend, it's being able to stand.
Thanks for the vid liked and subbed big guy
.
Thanks, nice review
35hp trolling motor, uh...yeah. Did you mean 35 lb thrust?
It looked like there was some water in the boat. Does it drain?
Looks fun
How much weight u think u got on that thing with u and all the gear
Hey man! Just subscribed to your channel and picked up 12T last night. How has yours been performing and are you still happy with it? Wish I lived in the south! I love catching REDS!!! No Reds in PA unfortunately > Tight Lines my friend!!

Get a NuCanoe, there more expensive but you will like it alot better because of accessories you can put on, more stable.
Nice Man!! 👍
Word of advice, replace the rod holders with better quality ones. You'll thank me later 😊
Nice video!!!! Suscribed
I tricked mine out a lot
It's a very high upgrades fishing package now
I'm looking at upgrading from my Lifetime Tahoma Kayak to the Ascend 12T. Is it worth it
I think so. But also, you will have to consider specifically what YOU want in your kayak. I bought this one because I fly fishing a lot and I am able to stand and cast. @@barrymcghee1 well for me, My first Kayak is a Lifetime tahoma kayak and it's great but the seat sucks and there's no leg room for me.
Wish I could find a 35hp trolling motor. Lol... mine is only 80lb thrust
On the real though. This is a very good kayak review. Keep up the great work my friend. Good to see you have lil man with ya. Love to see that! Great job dad. Keep him outdoors! Thanks for the great video.
Love it had to sub God bless...
35 hp, lmao. Id love to have a 35hp trolling motor!
Lol I got the same paddles also
PIMP MY KAYAK !
Que pasa wey
Todo bien hermano. Que tal
This kayak with little bigger waves is junk
