if we base that off of how it looks ingame yes its a hulking mass of iron but thats true for every single weapon in for honor thats not a blint weapon. and maybe zanhus sword and pks dagger. almost every bladed weapon is far too thick in terms of realism and would be pretty heavy in comparison to historical weapons.

You also forgot one thing about release highlander...for some reason during the SUPER early days his guard break had the shortest range there was so he was the ONLY hero during that time in FH where a parry didn't = a guard break...for him only. Dubbing him the T-rex arms hero.

Thanks for a highlander video. As a highlander main, here’s my two cents: I miss wavedashing, but a lot of the changes they made are good. Highlander is an **easier** character to pick up now, but he still has the highest skill ceiling in the game. He was really hard to pick up before and i think catering to lower skill players isn’t a bad thing. However, I would say he’s more cancerous to fight now, since his kick is incredibly oppressive and he is an AMAZING zoner. Instead of wavedashing as his zoning tool, now it’s just… bash spam. His lights are also one of the most frustrating attacks to fight against in the entire game. The animation is near impossible to read (used to be done with emote tech but can be done by changing stance now), they can be cancelled quick enough to parry a dodge attack after a light on reaction too. Highlander’s easier to use and stronger now, but i can’t say that this is the state i want to see him in.
My biggest problem is that now that the kick is feintable, I don't think it should confirm a heavy, a bash that can be feinted into another bash with both confirming heavies is just heavily skewed in his favor everytime it's used. One of the reasons I hate hito so much
@@EinsteinsNutzzI would trade feintable kick for wavedashing back in a heartbeat. He would still need some changes obviously, but i think wavedashing is a less frustrating way for an enemy to fight highlander. Only issue is that it raises his skill floor back up.

Now, if Caber Toss had armor and more movement to catch rolls, then I would absolutely agree with getting rid of the feint on kick, since then it would be too much
An additional note about kick to caber, but two characters were able to completely ignore the mixup just by walking backwards. Pre rework, both Conqueror and Shaolin could hold backwards and your kick would whiff in their face no matter what. So they could always just walk back and dodge if they saw you go onto caber.
17:46 I wouldn't mind if his offensive lights dmg were nerfed, for me the speed of the attack is what really matters, it's a great attack to stop the opponent ofense, and the animation gives you that idea, the highlander is using the butt of the sword not to cause damage, but to confuse the enemy.
Funniest bit about the rework is that his animations can be pretty janky. The light animations CAN give you a hint, but if you use spin tech (or just flicker your joystick/mouse around) it’s really hard to read lights.
Highlander also had a great frictionless animation for moving in a circle and he is by far my favorite character to play. I too was a little sad when he became super easy to play but whenever I hop on the game still if I’m looking for a character to run house with my go to is Highlander
After watching the video I can say this good work, agreed highlander has the best fashion in vikings, then there is shaman and valk I got him to rep 34 before his rework and once it went like I stopped playing him, wavedashing was just to fun to pull off and without it he just feels a bit TOO slow

Definitely wasn't a good hero at all but he was the most unique for the longest time from being ignored. I was one of the people not abusing his worst aspects of his brokenness. His rework was definitely needed but I couldn't have fun with him even tho i really wanted to main him. And you didn't mention another problem he also had. Not only did he not have tech to catch people rolling away, he was also one of the slowest heros when it came to just running. Which was my most annoying thing was that it took 30% longer to get back to the fight when it already took years to respawn.
Hi, highlander main here. I think that the latest HL rework is the best possible rework. I absolutely do not miss wavedashing, so idk who these hl mains are who miss it. He is very balanced now. He used to be actually awful in dominion, bc of 12 dmg gb punishes(18 dmg zone, but it drained your stamina), non existing hitboxes, unusable heavy openers, and running as slow as a grandma. I would change one thing. The soft feint of celtic curse is inconsistent for the two sides. Soft feint to the right is much faster than the left side. Idk what to say about the os lights. I must admit that they are annoying but at least now you can dodge attack without worrying about me dodging that with wavedashing😅.
Ye as a highlander main id especially want to have his damage back. im not saying 40dmg heavies but lets be honest he got crippled during ccu in comparison to any other hero. also the only changes he would have needed to not be exploited but still stay unique would have been a heavy punish or unique punish on gb ( honestly good job ubi on that) and feint into offensive stance. big problems were only backlight and kick to caber being either broken or useless. Id give the cabertoss (only after kick feint) hyperarmor to be able to trade with the dodgeattack but when doing a heavy punish on a tossed opponent he should get up a tiny bit slower so hes not stunlocked but instead can directly lightattack wich hits guaranteed. correct punish on cabertoss would be two offensive lights then wich is 18dmg wich would be fine. kick feint also was a good idea but its very oppressive in the right hands and very spammable as stamina consumption is lower than kick to caber. EDIT: this is from a duelists standpoint. So i dont know how severe a change on the downtime from cabertoss would be in 4v4s

Highlander's offensive heavies have always been hard feintable, it just always costed a shit ton of stamina to do that and put you in defensive stance with 0 pressure, AND all he got off of a feint to gb was a light attack. So it was pointless to even bother.
He was my main. Somehow, people made him work when he was weak in dominion. Now he's fun, but you feel guilty to play him swinging a greatsword like it's lighter than shaolins stick. You don't feel you earned the kill. Never. So easy man.
Learning how to play highlander made me worse at this game while I can light parry causally now I can’t do anything else unless I’m playing highlander it’s so painful
Highlander has always been a strange case in for honor, almost like a living paradox. He was considered terrible on release...but could 3 shot anyone in the cast (or 2 shot in shinobi's case). He has an extensive kit and good mix up potential....but people defualted to light light heavy (especially after his chain lights got hyper armor). He is was increadibly slow and easy to read...but you couldn't punish the good highlander cause they knew how to make thier attacks unpunishable. I'm not too familiar with new highlander, but I would descible this hero as having the "Nurse" effect (based off the nurse in Dead by Daylight). He has a really strong kit and could be the best in the game....but only the top 1% (and thats being generous) actually know how to utilize the kit to such a high degree. Very odd hero, I'm not sure what else could be done to this hero without ruining his Uniqueness.
I Remember a discussion on Reddit where a guy made it so tragic about the rework talking him down calling him braindead and totally ruined like he was another Lawbringer. I just told him to calm down because the hero essentially played the same as always and what did he do? Mf went on a rampage insulting me in the DMs and in other posts because I disagreed with him and tried to reason with his overreaction. Hope y'all Highlander mains don't claim him tbh.

it is, afeera tech used to be completely unpunishable. everything highlander had in terms of techs all had counters. theres a massive difference between enhancing gameplay and game breaking
