Nice fix Chris, also super easy to change the little micro USB board over, you can get them on eBay for under £4. Great that they designed it to be replaceable like that as it is a weak point :-) Cheers for the link and mention. Keep up the hard work :-)
Shhhhh! You're not supposed to give away easy tips like just replacing the socket PCB for £4!!! We want people to learn to replace the connector themselves :o) To be fair, if I knew they were available already on a small PCB, I would have just bought one instead of the connector lol! No worries on the mention, I do enjoy your videos - and I do learn something too! Just yesterday I learned not to test a RC speedboat on the rapids! =D

Thanks =D Yes, that technique really helps on remote controls - those things are always clipped together. With some practice you can almost getting it looking like no damage has occurred.

Quick question I am trying to get the battery out but i dont want it to catch on fire what is the possiblity of this
You need to try and lift the battery really slowily - peeling it away from the back a bit at a time. If you bend over or fold the battery that's when it may rupture or set on fire. If the battery is the issue (ie. it hasn't been charged for a long time and is flat) - it will be more forgiving. It generally takes a cut or hole (or major bend) to cause a battery to set on fire or explode. Patience and going slowily is the key. Also prepare in case something goes wrong - ie. Perhaps do it outside in the open, maybe wear glasses or protective eyewear and consider wearing gloves. That may sound alarming and most people would just peel it out without issue (or any protection), but I don't want to be resposible for you injuring yourself if something does go wrong. When you've done one or two of these you soon realise its pretty safe as long as you take time and don't be too abusive to the battery.

Does Tesco still sell the Hudl? They were always sold out whenever I wanted one, If I ever need a cheap tablet, I'll just mod a Kindle Fire now.
I honestly don't know, I think they stopped selling them a while back? The Kindle Fire is definitely the way to go - they are great!

I know this video is a few years old but just found it thru google to have a try at fixing a problem i was having which was i have 2 hudls one mine and one my sisters and both to just store transfer pics from phones really i know there not an up to date tablet but tonight i switched one of them on and it was flat no power,so tried to charge it and the screen just came on with yellow writing then after a bit the screen just was blank as a glowing clear screen,so long story short after fiddling with it as in switch on switch off,leaving it to kinda charge,and me having a meltdown cause of stored pics on there,i went to google on my phone scrolled thru lots of Hudl info and Hudl2 info till i ended up on ur page on you tube and watched first what u did with urs and didnt realise there is a pinhole reset button hole on the back of the Hudl ,so i pressed it and it turned black and turned on normal again ,and now its charging as i speak.xx So want to say a massive thankyou for ur video here on the Hudl,im just hoping its gonna turn on properly after charging which im just testing and YES!!,its all back on 😃,thankyou again xx my Hudl is saved xx😃💻😌
an internet connection is needed to setup your Hudl. Please check your wi-fi settings or connect to a different network
in my hudl tablat show this problm please help me
Sorry I am not familiar with that problem! I would search for copies of the firmware and try and reset the firmware first, if that doesnt work try and re-install the firmware.

Chris, what are you going to do about COPPA?
UA-cam are automatically changing everyones account to be for kids but that removed the comments section, notification, add revenue etc. If you mark it for adults only you can still get fined for marking it in the wrong category if it contains any child friendly content?
I've made sure all my videos are marked as not intended for children. I seldom swear within my videos or anything like that, so I guess beyond that there's nothing more I can do. We will just have to see what happens!

My problem is with my mum's Hudl 2
Mine isnt working last time i used it made a glitchy screen and now it makes noise but is a black screen now
Micro USB ports are terrible, the break even if you sneeze to close to them!
I generally don't have problems with them, but they do look flimsy.
But it could be that at my age I generally lose the darn thing long before I have a chance to break it. :)

I bought two hudl 2s and they were non starters from day one and a massive pile of crap. I couldn't reset or anything and I was told that when hudl 2 upgrade they are giving virus and spyware.

Unfortunately TESCO direct has stopped
on my HUDL
Not sure what the solution to that is - maybe try a firmware reset? It may need a reprogram of the firmware though.
Hello. I had the same problem as you, but I paid £ 20 and now it's like new. He rewrote the software. It is difficult with these tablets.
