Hi Glen!!! Cool to hear you're almost drt and done with your new music room/basement and looking forward to a room tour too...... That's a nice and cool boxset, i'm not very familiar with the Faces catalogue and studio material, i will have to add some of their stuff to my listening list and hear Rod before he goes poppy.... cheers and be well
There were awesome live for sure..Nothing wrong with a CD Richie, although it would mean rebranding..CD Richie, Two Format Rich, no..stick to vinyl..👍❤
Glen, you ask what happened to Rod Stewart. Interesting question ... From what I remember of Rod Stewart and the Faces in the 70s, they were a kind of bluesy football pub rock band with a very charismatic front man and a couple of cool mates (the two Ronnies) belting out music that came over best if you'd had ten pints of beer beforehand. Ie nothing really special except they had a couple of standout songs - 'Stay with me' and 'Maggie May,' and some reasonably respected albums with cute titles: 'A nod's as good as a wink,' 'Every picture tells a story,' 'Gasoline Alley' etc. Football was a massive platform because England had just won the World Cup, and Rod Stewart and the Faces were the musical face of football. Then Rod went solo, had a huge hit with The Sutherland Brothers & Quiver's 'Sailing,' start shagging the famously sexiest Swedish girl in Britain, Brit Ekland, and wearing her underwear, and hung out with British musical A-listers like Mick Jagger, Elton John etc. while extolling the joys and elegance of cricket. In essence, he became famous for being famous, and has never been out of the British newspapers since - plus he produced a string of songs that promoted him as being the sexiest British rock star while wearing striped pants and spiky hair. And, to be honest, that's still all I know about him. He is British rock royalty and tabloid fodder, who I'd guess hangs out with the royal family and goes to a ton of upper class events - a man every member of the royal family and British aristocracy would recognize, unlike Jeff Beck or Eric Clapton. And he has long residences in Las Vegas. What became of him was that he became a star rather than a musician, although he does have a string of pretty good hits trailing behind him. And then there is his early work, which I still think is earnest but a little lacklustre, as I did in the 70s, so his deciding to make himself into a star was a good move. He fitted into being an A-lister, in the same way as his stable mate Ronnie Wood fitted into The Rolling Stones. Ronnie isn't exactly Mick Taylor, but he is a good ol' boy and a fun playmate for Keith Richards. It's not all about musical talent.
I like alot of Faces music my brother had a few of their albums and I would say you got a good deal if I knew what you traded for it. But it does look like a good box set. Take care Glen.
Seems like your former music room was really nice, did you mention why you gave it up? I'm about your age, and the prospect of moving my media room would be really difficult. Thanks for posting as often as you do.
Loved Rod with Jeff Beck Truth and Beck Ola. Faces do a good job of McCartney "Maybe im.Amazed" A nod album I wore that sucker out. Never forgive Rod for " Maggie May " worst song ever besides the Stones " Angie"
@GlenKellawayfromthebasement I recently bought a dvd of Jeff Beck in concert for $1 at a flea market. After he passed .guy could have put $20 on it at least. My gain his loss
this faces collection is a breath of fresh air
Oh yeah !!!
Glad you're comfortable buddy, get that room ready for me!
The bed is made up..
Looks like a fantastic set- great band.
It is a great set
Faces were great. And you're so right about Rod. Not too many vocalists could compare in that early 70s period.
He was the best ..
I unboxed mine yesterday Glen.Fantastic set I think
It has to be amazing..
The Faces rock! Sweet box set! Did I mention I have chronic pain? 😊😊😊
You sure kept that a secret..
Do a vape and lay in bed and listen to rod and maybe your pain will go away.

Listen to Jeff Beck Truth and Faces Nods As Good As A Wink..
Great looking set Glen. I've been thinking about it but have not pulled the trigger. Congrats on getting moved in.
Just wait until Rich and I send you ten bucks each at the end of the baseball season..
I saw the Faces in 71. They were great. I don’t listen to CDs any more.
There were awesome live for sure..Nothing wrong with a CD Richie, although it would mean rebranding..CD Richie, Two Format Rich, no..stick to vinyl..👍❤
@@GlenKellawayfromthebasement Nothing wrong with CDs but none of my CD players work. I would sell them but they aren’t worth much.
Nice set Glen. Best of luck to Larry. And I do believe that Bryan Ferry had the best voice in Rock n Roll..
Wow..Brian Ferry had a great voice but I wouldn’t call him a rock singer..

Interesting take..
I like rod Stewart when he does the 80s stuff 😅I think his version of you keep me hanging on is the best version!
He had some good songs in the 80’s but nothing compared to 68-73

It wasn’t cheap but I wasn’t out of pocket either..so I am happy..
You should be in training for when Larry gives you his 3 cd choices. Pump those irons!

It was really hard to bring the room with me to a new place..I tried..lol
