Hey sweetie, what an amazing video, you’ve covered every aspect needed, I love both these bags but I’m definitely a Kelly girl. I love small bags and crossbody option means the bag has to be small enough for my frame. I would wear your Kelly by top handle or on the shoulder. There’s something so feminine about carrying a top handle bag. The size 25 or 28 are ideal. I also love the mini version OMG to die for. I doubt I’ll ever own any Hermes bags, but I appreciate seeing them on women. Thank you for your honest opinion, I could listen to you all day, you have the nicest softly spoken voice I’ve ever heard, just beautiful, as are you.

Valid point Bereal - and even the exclusivity can be questioned since social media (and prevalence of fakes) makes these bags increasingly mainstream! Personally the allure for me for the Kelly is the design. The allure for me for the Birkin is the famous reputation and challenge of being able to own one. But you are wise to not fall for Hermes marketing!

Your history of the bags, breakdown and side by side comparisons were amazing. I also love how you considered height and relative strength required. I think both bags look great but feel that the Kelly is more versatile with looks and occasions thus would get more use for most.

Great video as always! I'm team Kelly too...top handle only bags brings back bad childhood memories of helping my mom carry groceries from Chinatown all the way back to Queens lol. I need options, the bathroom situation is so real but true hahaha. Also told myself 25 is as big as I'll go, can't do heavy bags anymore. I feel like the Birkin is for those who don't need to walk much, or have a driver, or drive everywhere with valet parking so they will never need to carry the bag for long and can always sit their heavy bag down in a clean spot. I walk A LOT and enjoy walking. XO

Wow yes i remember when we had that conversation! It doesn't hold much and makes you feel like a replica of others...but the growing investment value is fantastic. At one point in time it may be almost the same price as a small B25! So hopefully you can just directly swap the two bags :P I will still be around making videos (so many topics i want to cover and haven't had a chance yet!) but probably don't feel the need to add more to my collection :) I'll try to grab my final bag this year - will share with you soon!

Actually the Kelly was previously the Sac á main de voyage, a travel bag. It was not the Sac á Dépêche, the breaking news bag, as many bloggers claim. ALSO, the Birkin already existed for decades as the Grand Sac haute á courroies (acronym was HAC) and was a big bag with long straps that was used for carrying saddles and riding boots. What happened with the Birkin in the 1980s, they redesigned the Grand HAC into a tote bag to make it useful for easy travel.

I just bought a brand new K25 from a reseller for AUD$19200 - note Hermes retail prices are somewhere between AUD$10-16k (depending on which country) and reseller prices are typically AUD$20k+ (varying depending on colour, hardware type etc). A K20 is likely priced even higher since they are produced in smaller numbers/rarer and also very trendy right now. I don't own the IPad Pro directly but Google tells me 12" is 30cm which is too wide for the K28(cm), especially since you need to deduct the (double) leather thickness from that width. The K32 would probably be better suited (functionally & visually) for that work-related purpose as it'll start to take on a briefcase-esque feel at a larger size. Totally agree re the Camel colour (Hermes Gold) - it's classic, stunning and on my wishlist too! Good luck in your search for your dream Kelly. If i ever purchase one secondhand, my preference is to buy it in Japan - they have great stock to choose from. Although i haven't looked into it yet because usually the secondhand price is much higher than the French retail price.

Wow the most detailed video I have seen with great feedback. The more I see these bags I fail to understand the allure except for the exclusivity
Valid point Bereal - and even the exclusivity can be questioned since social media (and prevalence of fakes) makes these bags increasingly mainstream! Personally the allure for me for the Kelly is the design. The allure for me for the Birkin is the famous reputation and challenge of being able to own one. But you are wise to not fall for Hermes marketing!

I think both bags look great but feel that the Kelly is more versatile with looks and occasions thus would get more use for most.

Great video as always! I'm team Kelly too...top handle only bags brings back bad childhood memories of helping my mom carry groceries from Chinatown all the way back to Queens lol. I need options, the bathroom situation is so real but true hahaha. Also told myself 25 is as big as I'll go, can't do heavy bags anymore. I feel like the Birkin is for those who don't need to walk much, or have a driver, or drive everywhere with valet parking so they will never need to carry the bag for long and can always sit their heavy bag down in a clean spot. I walk A LOT and enjoy walking. XO

Wow yes i remember when we had that conversation! It doesn't hold much and makes you feel like a replica of others...but the growing investment value is fantastic. At one point in time it may be almost the same price as a small B25! So hopefully you can just directly swap the two bags :P I will still be around making videos (so many topics i want to cover and haven't had a chance yet!) but probably don't feel the need to add more to my collection :) I'll try to grab my final bag this year - will share with you soon!

Actually the Kelly was previously the Sac á main de voyage, a travel bag. It was not the Sac á Dépêche, the breaking news bag, as many bloggers claim. ALSO, the Birkin already existed for decades as the Grand Sac haute á courroies (acronym was HAC) and was a big bag with long straps that was used for carrying saddles and riding boots. What happened with the Birkin in the 1980s, they redesigned the Grand HAC into a tote bag to make it useful for easy travel.

I bought the giant clochette together with my Birkin in 2017 from the FSH flagship store in Paris - it was 1 of 3 accessories which the SA picked out for me to choose from :) I liked the pop of colour and it's smooth swift leather. Hopefully you can find it if Hermes brings it back again?

Sorry i must admit i don't think i recommended any hotel...both times, i booked airbnbs in Paris and (by luck) i was close to one of the 3 Hermes stores. It's definitely a good idea though! In fact i'm pretty sure one of the buildings opposite the Hermes flagship is a hotel, hopefully you can locate on Google maps?

I just bought a brand new K25 from a reseller for AUD$19200 - note Hermes retail prices are somewhere between AUD$10-16k (depending on which country) and reseller prices are typically AUD$20k+ (varying depending on colour, hardware type etc). A K20 is likely priced even higher since they are produced in smaller numbers/rarer and also very trendy right now. Would you say the K28 would fit an iPad Pro 12"?

I don't own the IPad Pro directly but Google tells me 12" is 30cm which is too wide for the K28(cm), especially since you need to deduct the (double) leather thickness from that width. The K32 would probably be better suited (functionally & visually) for that work-related purpose as it'll start to take on a briefcase-esque feel at a larger size. Totally agree re the Camel colour (Hermes Gold) - it's classic, stunning and on my wishlist too! Good luck in your search for your dream Kelly. If i ever purchase one secondhand, my preference is to buy it in Japan - they have great stock to choose from. Although i haven't looked into it yet because usually the secondhand price is much higher than the French retail price.
