Of Crosby’s era. The Best Penguins team was the 1992 team. It’s actually the 93 team, but they didn’t win the cup, slept on the Islanders and blew the second round. Should have been Mario vs Gretzky in the Finals. But in 92 they won, and it’s one of the most loaded teams you can put on a roster sheet. You can’t put teams like that together in a salary cap league.

Lol wish I coulda watched em in the 90’s but hearing the stories of greatness growing up made 09 great (I was 10) then 16-17 I was in high school n took in every second of those runs lol best time of my life going to the big screen and me and my bro watched em raise the 16 banner to contact by daft punk and seeing Chris letang shed a tear will be a moment I NEVER FORGET lol go pens big win tonight in LA!
Just noticed that the Pens touched the Prince of Wales Trophy... they must have had so much confidence they were going to win.
They didn’t in 08 and have ever since.
Crosby choose to touch it in 09 after not touching in 08. Superstition for him is to now touch it if they win it. Malkin and whoever else as well.
I watch this every year at this time. I think our team has what it takes to go all the way back to this feeling. Proud of our guys and our organization. I definitely miss some of these old players we had. Fleury, Kuni, Dad, Daley, Shears, Horns, Haggy, etc.

As an Ottawa fan I’m pretty impressed how positively they talked about the sens.
Too bad they have such an awful owner.. the sens could have had a very competitive team for years after this

I think the 2017 Stanley Cup title run for the Penguins was way more fun to watch than the 2016 Stanley Cup title run

2016 was an exciting team to watch, 2017 was stressful
I agree even as a pens fan first one was like okay lets secure the cup and try and do it again. but yes the second was way more fun to watch cause it was the back to back run and each round was so energizing to watch great runs
Actually, both 2016 and 2017 were so much better than 2009. The 2009 Penguins only won under Dan Bylsma because it was an already competitive roster that he inherited from Michel Therrien. Exactly like Therrien, Mike Sullivan is a no-nonsense coach, who will never put up with mistakes. Both even have congruent contrasts to the player-friendly styles of both Bylsma and Mike Johnston, particularly Johnston.
From a Sharks fan, amazing documentary! Watched the whole thing start to finish. Pittsburgh’s my second favorite hockey team (even though I was disappointed after they beat us in 2016). And if I was to choose a favorite hockey player in the NHL other than one from the Sharks, it’s got to be “Sid the Kid”

@@DK_Smoke It’s because they’re my local team (since I live in the Bay Area) and also, I got used to watching hockey after watching my first Sharks hockey game on TV back in November of 2016.

God flower was such a beast and in my mind the MVP on our team this cup run.
Just realized that the last three times PIT has won the Cup, the Capitals cheap shots succeed in injuring one of their players. In '09 Ovechkin took out Gonchar's knee. '16 Orpik gets suspended three games for elbowing Maata. '17 Niskanen cross-checks Sid's head as he's literally just falling to the ice (maybe its an ex-Pittsburgh defenseman thing lol?) And that's not even counting that garbage human Tom Wilson's shenanigans. And Cap's fans wonder why everyone is glad when Pittsburgh beats them.

As a Pens fan, I was so happy that the Pens beat the Sens and went on to defeat the Preds. But watching this again and seeing how good the Sens were, it would have been an amazing series between them and the Preds. You would not have been able to predict the outcome.
The game 7 against Washington Flower was a brick wall

As a pens fan it blows the ref blew that play dead early for the preds but they had numerous chances throughout that game regardless to put one in and they just couldn't crack the code. Helluva series!!!!!!

My favorite run was 2009. I cheered them on all the way to the heartbreak in 2008, so it was even more satisfying to see them win the rematch with the Wings in 2009. Crosby is one of my all time favorites. Was great to see him win a couple more in 2016 and 2017. I'm a Flames fan, but the Pens will always be one of my favorite bandwagons to ride when my team doesn't make it.

I started watching Hockey before, the players were required to wear helmets... 1080 means nothing to me, it's the quality of the play, I pay attn to, NOT the quality of the highlight video! Cheers friend

You have to give Jim Rutherford all the credit he is due he knows how to put a championship team together, the Phil Kessel trade that brought him back to back cup's is probably his best payoff , how about the move to bring "Dad" to the Pens, Matt Cullen was sooo underrated as to what he brought to the Pens overrall. It doesn't seem like they have been able to replace the loss of Kris Kunitz 2-way game ,penalty killing and just a thunderous game he brought very solid. Let's go Pens

i think that this documentary about their 2017 Championship win, was a good decision, it has their ups and downs, losses and wins, injuries, and finally them winning in the play off and then winning BACK TO BACK!!

My friends dad died in a plane crash in 1994 but he was best friends with Mario lemuix and he claimed they partied with the cup the cup was in a pool at one point it’s crazy what the cup goes thru

As much as I enjoyed the 2016 Stanley Cup run, I actually enjoyed the 2017 Stanley Cup run more because to me it was a lot more fun. In the first round against Columbus, the Penguins were lucky that the series only went 5 games. But it did feel like the Jackets series went more than 5 games. Playing against Washington in the Stanley Cup Playoffs is always fun and usually a great series to watch and this one was no exception. But my favorite series from 2017 has to be the ECF against the Ottawa Senators, because nobody expected the Sens to even make it to the conference finals. But once the Senators got there, nobody was expecting them to push the Penguins to not just a Game 7 but double overtime in Game 7

Murray wasn’t the solution, team defense was, they left Fluery hanging in game 3, absolutely little to no offense generated up until that point. And all of sudden they wake up. If anything it made the boys realize they were playing like garbage. And Wilson said it best. No matter who was in goal. They had great opportunity to win.

It’s funny when people tell me there should’ve been a game 7 in the finals. There was never going to be a game 7. If that goal was counted the Preda were never gonna be able to keep up with Pittsburgh’s intensity. They still would’ve lost in game 6. And we gotta remember we didn’t have Letang all playoffs and no Nick Bonino for most of the Finals. We have those two playing and it’s be a whole different story.
Not to mention it was goaltender interference, they were gifted a long 5 on 3 and were getting dominated.
