Silver chair were so so young when they first hit the scene. They formed in 1992 in New South Wales in Australia, under the name of The Innocent Criminals. The lead singer Daniel Johns was born in 1979 so that would make him about 12 to 13 years of age….. At a very young age of around 15 they won a TV programme competition by SBS with their demo of the song Tomorrow and they won a album deal with Sony in 1994. Their album Frogstomp was released in 1995. That launched them into fame. I do hope Daniel is doing well. He has such a beautiful voice, even if it was haunting in this song.
More about this song. Daniel the lead made it when he was 18, it is about deep depression, anxiety and helplessness. As he really struggled with this after their 2nd album. He also developed Anorexia at the same time. He went down to like 45kgs for a 5ft 10 guy, surviving on only an apple a day and water. His family staged an intervention with his Dr. Basically being on tour, everything was controlled by someone else. Like where they go, when to eat, when to stop, what songs to play, what to release musically, what to say etc.., so the only thing he could control was what he could eat.
I swear in the original version he sings “won’t you starve my brain” rather than “won’t you stop my pain.” I think he was on the fence about being public about his struggles with his eating disorder. Ana’s Song was recorded once the record had wrapped and I’m guessing the lyrics were never updated. He never sings this section of the song in later performances.
Love Silverchair. Criminally underrated. Saw them Live touring on Frog Stomp opening for the Red Hot Chili Peppers. Silverchair Absolutely Crushed It. Tomorrow is a Absolute Classic Rock Song Enjoyed the Chili Peppers. They were really good Live. Silverchair was Better
Ps, this is his BIG opus anthem of a song. Like Enter Sandman for Metallica, Smells Like for Nirvana. They got David Helfgott in to play piano on this song and to do the string arrangements on it aswell. It was a massive song with the amount of detail in it and the vast instruments in it, for an 18 year old to think of this was amazing. For the full song in all its glory react to the album version.
More Silverchair please.
This whole concert is one of the best things I’ve ever seen in my life. Unbelievable band

It’s funny you say that this song has a 2010 vibe they released this originally in 1999
I hope someone suggests Anthem For The Year 2000
That's my favorite song.
Singer former Nathalie Imbruglia's husband.
I believe there's a certain Anthem heading your way. :)

Really should of used an earlier version, by this time Daniel's voice had started changing. Still a great performance
