- The House select committee investigating the Jan. 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol held the third in a series of public hearings on Thursday with testimony from former Vice President Mike Pence's former counsel Greg Jacob and conservative jurist J. Michael Luttig. The hearing focused on former President Donald Trump's campaign to pressure Pence to reject electoral votes. The committee has continued to lay out evidence showing Trump encouraged his supporters to descend on the Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021, after peddling false claims that the 2020 presidential election was stolen. On Monday, the committee also outlined how the Trump campaign and allies used baseless claims of election fraud to raise millions of dollars from Trump supporters, claiming it was needed to fund election-related lawsuits.

It is so ironic that immigrants have to learn more about the history of the United States to become citizens than the so-called proud Americans who were born here actually know.

I am still disappointed in Pence but he did show some honor and principles that day. I would like to see some real courage from him like speaking out against Trump which is long overdue.

You know, hearing the judge speaking, it instantly reminded me of the British king with the stutter who was taught to slow down his speech with pauses. I can absolutely see the comparison.
Frontline on PBS he’s more relaxed and rather than pause he would say “ ahh” after many words and did stutter a few times, unfortunately there were many comments, most positive but many snarky - I’m thinking he took out the “ahh” and instead left a pause trying to slow down - I’m guessing stress made it worse. But he’s so brilliant and I hope people will find this interview on UA-cam.
I was wondering if perhaps he has Parkinson's. Compassion and patience is in order. He's lucid and hasn't lost his faculties, he's just slower getting the words out. I listened to an interview of him earlier today, must have been done many months ago. He wasn't a speeder speaker but more so than he is here.

The argument was not that the VP can pick just anybody. The argument was that the VP could simply refuse to count the EC votes that said that Biden had won, and therefore, the only other option on the ballot was for Trump to "win" by default.

In the House, each state gets one vote only. So each delegation from each state.must vote to determine for whom they will choose to cast thier state's single vote.

Well actual, no, they should not. He is presented as an expert here and his qualifications certainly would seem legitimate....however he was spouting a lot of nonsense that someone versed in firearms should know better.
For a couple examples, the 5.56 is not a particularly powerful round. It does a lot of tissue damage, as does any rifle, because it fires a supersonic round...like almost every rifle. It does not blow a body apart....it is in fact a rather underpowered round even for modest game such as white tail deer. It absolutely is a varmit calibur. I have used a .223 on possums myself. It does not blow them apart. It is a souped up .22. This calibur was adopted by the military from the 7.62, amid a lot of folks arguing it was not powerful enough, predominantly to reduce weight, the argument being one does not need much bullet to stop a human. This is something he should know.... He is being presented as an expert here and he is speaking 100 percent from ignorance. This was not the only glaringly nonsensical thing he said.

Actually most of the districts have had multiple recounts. The very close elections have mandated recounts.

I was like does he like hearing himself talk? When his law clerk summarized what he said the judge actually looked-turned red-indignant. Like how dare you. I am more than grateful he is defending our constitution and not a party, but I have to say I got some bad vibes from the man. Like major control issues.
His law clerk actually looked traumatized sitting there listening to him, like he knew what was coming. Wonder if the law clerk, when he quit clerking for him, was like hallelujah I’m free, then he finds himself here now.
Update:
I read a comment that the judge had a speech impediment. As I said I had to fight myself from judging him. I just completed watching the hearing and definitely appreciated his candor and speaking up against what the future holds according to Trump and his followers. Not easy and likely putting himself and family in the line of ‘fire’. I am thankful that he is a man of faith and pray the Lord keeps him and all that speak up safe.
All that being said and with all due respect, in my 20 year career in the military, I heard many speeches/briefings and when someone said this is going to be brief-there was always a collective sigh, for we knew that meant it was going to be a long wordy briefing.
I venture to say though there was collective appreciation and respect for this judges courage…there too was a collective sigh.
