Dear Pete, Thank you very much for your review and objective comments on a variety of our products. Your videos are very high quality and informative, and as an experienced user of airbrushes, your comments are very helpful to the development of our brand. Thank you again for taking the time and effort to produce a quality video!
Hi Porphis, as you will know, I say what I find and your products, particularly your higher end products , are very, very good, so please keep making them the way you do. It's also good to see you now do a PPS series 1 adapter for the MPH338, which was becoming a hot topic on my email and messages with a few people sending me details of how they adapted various other adapters to fit the little Porphis, much easier now you have one available. Anyway, thank you , It's much appreciated. Cheers 👍
it's only been a week to get wider4. I tried to use it to clear HS full body car. pretty good, fine lightning. Next week I'm trying to get porphis 715 or 716 because this weapon is quite fast. I have seen many people use this porphis but I am most interested in 715. .716
Hi Mate, the PRD715 or PRD625 are the fast guns. They really do let it rip, great fun. The PRD716 is HVLP and is slower but still good as far as I know. Thanks 👍
Hi Pete, a very good comparison as they are both a similar price and the both looked to be a similar speed, the only Walcom I have is the Slim Kombat I can't remember if it's made of kevlar or carbon fibre but either way I'm not a fan of it as it feels plasticky and to light in the hand so I don't use it these days🤷♂ The Porphis is a nice looking gun and just looks better made to me, I was surprised that the fan is a bit smaller but as we all know size isn't everything🤭I like the Porphis brand as they just seem to take an interest in what you are doing and both times when I got the 717 then later the extra tip sets they were very helpful when I asked a question👏👌 Cheers Pete👍
Hi John, Yeah, the Slim Xlite is basically the metal heavy version of the one you have, so it sounds like you may like it 😂. Yeah, I am the same with Porphis, I really like their stuff, and they seem to offer a good service as well as a good product. I get quite a few people messaging me these days via one platform or another. Normally, I get to know of any problems they have, not just Porphis but most makes to be honest, but certainly Porphis come out really well compared to most, with probably Iwata and Walcom coming out bottom of the table, cheers mate 👍
I have an xlight in 1.3 , I meant to buy 1.2 so I could swap needle and tip with my kombat (which is also 1.3) . They're a great gun for the price , but much better suited to thinner materials like base or candy imo (my kombat is pressure fed , it's a completely different story with that 😅 )
Hi Andrew, Yeah, the are a good gun, it seems prices are all over the place, I know in some countries with more challenging economic circumstances the Slim Xlite is quite cheap, far cheaper than in the UK, where it's around 175 GBP plus tax, luckily I got mine on a Black Friday deal some 4 years ago when it was 280 GBP all in for an Xlite and a Slim Kombat, cheers mate 👍
@peteshobbies5383 yeah they're fairly cheap down here , I can't remember what I paid , but it was only ~$100au dearer than buying the needle and tip at the time in memory . Definately a great gun , I don't use it much though , not even sure why 😳
@andrewntoth1 It gets a bit like that. You get a gun out and think I'll try that and afterwards wonder why you don't use it more, we are spoilt for choose 🤣😂
Another great video Pete, think I'll upgrade to that Porphis gun. Although i suspect you could spray that well with a windowlene bottle 😂. Once again, thanks for putting your time, effort and your own money into purchasing these guns and making videos so we can learn. It's a shame how rude some people are really. Keep up the excellent work.
@peteshobbies5383 i was thinking about the 715,or 716,but,I made up in my mind,a 717,and buy 716 cap nozzle tip set,I LOVE the prd 717,because it's just so versatile
@lesliwells5433 Yeah, exactly, I've never used the HVLP 716, but the 715 is an absolute blast, in the same vain as the Sata 5000 RP and Sagola DVR Clear 1.3XL
I have a fair few Iwatas, the LPH400, and the Wider4L, and I think the PRD717 is better, I really like the PRD715 as it is very good and very fast, great fun to use 😀
Your choice between Porphis prd 717 , ntools 4000b ? I purchased a ntools 1000b which actually was an accident i meant to get the 4000b but at any rate getting ready use the ntools 1000b on a couple large jobs.
Ntools also makes the hiq 1500c urp whatever that means which is a lvlp which claims it only consumes like 4cfm I may try that out as well. Only trouble with these ntools guns are I can't find any reviews just about on them besides your chanel which is how I head about them so your reviews are much appreciated and well thought out.
Hi Buddy, The Porphis PRD guns are a different world to the Ntools guns, the Ntools 4000B is very good for the money but the Porphis PRD7 series, PRD6 and PRD5 series are much better in all respects so not really comparable, the Porphis are also more expensive of course.
I cerakoted a knife blade with sata 4400 b and at 33 psi rp cap it was blowing it all over the place I didn't mix it right or shake it enough I shook it for about 30 sec and figured it was plenty.i did another cerakote job and looked at it after shook it for about thirty sex and it was half clumped it.cerakote is thin so maybe at about 15 to 20 psi it will still atomize it
Hi Mate, what size tip were you using? I have never sprayed Cerakote, but the reason I ask is quite a few people I swop messages with do spray it, and they use small tips, so 0.7 and 0.8 tips
@peteshobbies5383 I had a 1.4 nozzle with a 1.3 rp cap .I figured it would put more paint out I was wanting it Moore quick but cerakote is suppost to be more of thin coat tho
@damensutherland7081 Yes, people have told me they use guns like the LPH80 in 0.8, the Devilbiss Sri Pro Lite 0.8, Devilbiss DV1s in 0.7 and 0.9, the LPH50 in 1.0 and the Walcom Ego 190 in 1.0, all small low output guns so I think your output was probably much more than needed
@peteshobbies5383 yea it shot out alot of paint it is thin I sprayed some baseclear with color pigment in it and going from that to cerakote is big jump .plus the color pigment isn't to high so it put out probably thicker than needed .I got some orange peel in it on part of it but not on rest of it not shure whay happened cause of the mixture and shaking .I shook it for 30 sec and it still was half clumped up next time ima shake it longer and adjust my fluid
Pete, I Cerakoted headers with a Harbor Freight spray gun with a .8mm tip and it sprayed the Cerakote just fine. Respirator all the way when spraying it!!
Regarding Home Depot spray guns: I have looked at them at Home Depot and the ones on their web site and there's nothing there like the Porphis guns. Perhaps at a casual glance you might say there something similar but if you have a good look you can see they are defiantly different.
Hi Mate, Yes, that was exactly my point. When I pointed out they were different, this person was going on about some bits inside, like the needle spring!. Now I like a bit of detective work, but when you are coming down to such minor similarities, then you have, I think, just got to face it. They are different. As you may know, I have a stupid amount of spray guns, so I see lots of different makes, and IMO, the Porphis PRD and PC series guns are right up there with the best in terms of performance and build, Thanks buddy, much appreciated 👍
Hi Pete, Good Video. You mentioned the the MPH-338 mini gun in the video. One has a choice when ordering the 338 to choose which cup system they want. The standard cup or PPS adapter with a 200ml cup. Currently, Porphis does not offer the adapter as an accessory to purchase separately. Perhaps that will change.
Hi Mate, Yes, I'm sure it will, I would imagine, and I'm only guessing , that you would be able to get the PPS adapter on its own, I'm thinking, because its only just available, they just haven't had the opportunity to add it to the website, cheers mate 👍
Hi Pete, As a standalone item it's not currently on the Porphis website. One must email the company directly to order an adapter. With time I'm sure that will change. Your reviews are great! Real quick do spray waterborne base?
I have the air and oil filters from walcom between my compressor and guns... very expensieve but also very good. Maybe it's time to test this gun... for base and clear coat... the 1.2 or the 1.3? It's amazing how many guns you test :)
Hi buddy, Yes, I have seen the Walcom filters. They look good. They also make a heater for the inlet air, a bit OTT for me, I think. I would go with the 1.3. It's the most universal of the sizes. Remember, these are not blasters anyway, so 1.2 probably won't be enough on occasions, Thanks again, mate 👍
Hi Pete, first your gun reviews are second to none super thurough. I have a 5.3 cfm at 90 psi 27 gallon compressor. I paint in my garage and mostly wheels or panel repairs. What would be your go to recommendation for base and clear? I use an A610, but would like to get a proper gun. Budget $400ish top end. Thanks!
@merkinfoolz6154 Yeah, you're looking at Midi or Mini guns. Have a look at the Meiji Finer Force guns. They are good quality, and you should have enough air for what you intend to do
what brand regulator is that on the prophis gun? I just ordered a prophis 338 mini gun and added the adapter to it for $9.00 US dollars more . thanks for all the info on these guns
Hi Mate, I think you'll like the MPH338, it a good precise little gun, and everyone will be pleased to know they do a PPS adapter for them now. The regulator is a Meiji diaphragm regulator, very good, and keeps the air flow pressure really even and consistent. More info here, ua-cam.com/video/m2-zPsv7oG0/v-deo.html
Hi Mate, My Iwata Wider1L has probably had 5 hours of use in total before it started leaking. That's the lowest amount of time of any of my 4 Iwatas that have leaked. The Porphis guns have had much more use as I have let others use them as well, all without problems. Hence, I have no worries about the reliability of these
HI PETE 👋 HOPE ALL IS WELL WHAT A CRACKING VIDEO THERE THANKS FOR SHARING THAT INFORMATION VERY USEFUL IF YOU GET MICRO HOLES IN THE CLEAR COAT PAINT WHAT CAUSES THAT MATE USED MY KIWAMI 4 1.3 FOR CLEAR COAT PAINT
Solvent pop-you are leaving solvent in your first coat and putting second and or seccessive coats on too fast. Put your 1st coat on just barely closed coat, giving plenty of time for solvent to escape, and then get thicker med wet coat.
Hi Andy, Yes mate, it's solvent pop, it's the solvent from the material trying to get out as it wasn't allowed to. So you need to put less on the first coat, leave it longer before your 2nd coat, and, heat the panels and the clear up, both will help to stop solvent pop as the solvents escape faster when it's warm, you can just sand and go again the next day so not a major pain

Why can't you test out those guns from HF? They are available on Amazon. There are some even on Temu under different names, but that depends on the import country. There are some reviews of Temu guns on YT already. You could check them out, they are super cheap. That way you can give us some comparisons with Porphis. Also Walcom is 150-200$ on AliExpress, so you can get it cheaper than Porphis from China, they ship to the EU, not sure about the UK. Not sure how much is import tax on Porphis, and how much is it gonna be for Walcom, but I usually get taxed for importing from China.
You must have selective hearing. He clearly said the reason for removal was harassment and being rude. The gun claims were just a side note. I believe months back Pete tested a knockoff/cheap gun that was speculated by many to be the same as the black widow. It was not a porphis gun. I’m not going to go throw the library to find it for you though. Triggerman and others have tested both on their channels. Also there is ZERO chance I would buy a Walcom gun from AliExpress. Probably a 100% chance you’re getting a knockoff.
Hi Guys Yes, the reason for removing them from the channel was, in the end, they were being quite abusive.
