Rav4s are an absolute beast of a car. You can do almost about anything with them. I’m so happy I found your video, this is gonna save me a couple hundreds on a hotel room in the keys when I go down there for a concert this summer.
Add a 3rd piece of plywood with legs and you can extend the back for a large table - work station. Or use the front when not sleeping and use for table out the back with different length legs.
I have a friend that lives on little Glen Lake, right by Empire... I went for a 4th of July week and was blown away by the fireworks the neighbors had (I think it was a group of college students) but here in California, you would be executed for thinking fireworks let alone light some off.. I'll be going back there.. it was an awesome All Americana time I'll never forget

He my just a heads up, your J-Racks are on backwards. You want the tallest part of the Racks facing inwards. This will make loading/unloading considerably easier.
Hey thanks so much for the recommendation! That’s how we had them on originally based on what I thought too. But because our kayaks are so short but wide, they didn’t fit correctly and we’re not stable at all compared to this way believe it or not😅 We’re honestly going to most likely just get new (normal sized) kayaks and hopefully that will make things easier!

Do you enter and exit (at bed time) from the hatchback? We have a similar plan, however; we are worried the loss of head room by adding a platform will make it more difficult to unlatch their hatch from inside. (We have a Hyundai SUV
If it's not raining we mostly go in/out of the back hatchback door yeah! But if it's raining I will come in and out of the side door. My car has an automatic hatch door on the back so i can open it by pressing a button while inside so it's easy for us. The lack of headroom is a bummer for wanting to sit up but it makes it 100% worth it to have somewhere to put all your stuff & be able to lay completely flat. hope that helps! :)

I totally regret upgrading my 2016 RAV4 for the 2020! The back seats don’t fold flat and are at quite an angle. Wish I had realized before buying

Honestly like the best 16-18 RAV4 looks beautiful more than 19-22 unknown.

To hook your kayaks on, hook to the top of the J hook not the bottom.
