Never solder lugs on wire. Solder is 12 times less conductive than copper. Crimping is the only method you should consider. What will happen is there will be heat generated at the connections limiting current. Obviously it depends on your highest current draw but solder connections could fail in high current situations. You never see an a high current, large wire engine starter with soldered connections.

I'm new to this space and my first question is, when I look at the money, why not get a camper? Then you get the shower and toilet, and no need to build. Just wondering why people lean toward the van builds over a camper? I do like the idea of the van so I can pull a trailer.

My wife and I are in the process of building out our chevy express campervan and just made almost the same trip. We did 8 days o thru labor day weekend and added a few more stops, like pictured rocks and Fayette. We found some really awesome dispersed camping spots because of an amazing map this dude on a michigan motocamping site made! I'm going to try and send it to yall and maybe we'll run into you guys someday! Sweet videos and info and awesome van build!

I thought I posted a question about the ignition wire going to D+ on the DC2DC charger. I saw it jumped in the beginning of the video and then a wire coming out of it later in the video. Is the the wire that goes to the ignition to shut off the DC2DC charger when the engine is running?

I just like getting away from huge RVs with humming air conditioners and the blue glows of all those TVs. And the large family camp groups with screaming kids and barking dogs. I'm glad they're able to get out and 'camp', but I don't want them as neighbors. It's not worth $32 per night to go cramping.

Hello, I stumbled across your website by googling national Forest in Michigan. I was really impressed with what you had posted so I went to UA-cam and subscribe. I’m a newbie. I just bought a classic 1988 trail seeker RV in excellent condition. I follow a gentleman by the name of Steve Leto and he was talking about his camping experience as a youngster in Michigan so that’s what made me gravitate towards Michigan this year for my first camping season

The carpet on top is a nice touch. Trying to do a similar thing in my CRV but so far it's not going well.

My Dad and I went camping in our tent at Houghton Lake State Park in the summer of 1975 and it rained for 3 days straight. Dad suggested we pack up and head to Alpena for the evening to get a good meal at a restaurant and stay in a nice hotel. One of the best ideas he ever had! We went to Alpena and had a great time and saw the movie "The Longest Yard" with starring Burt Reynolds - it was hilarious!
