- For my volvo 240 but applies to pretty much any suspension part (trailing arm, panhard rod, torque arm etc)
Don't do this shit unless you're confident in your welding abilities or enjoy your axle potentially falling out if you screw it up.
"Just cool it off by pouring water on it between welds." Really ill advised to quench welds that are load bearing, makes the whole heated area comparatively brittle and weaker- Let alone quenching between welds, which can cause the metal to flash rust and compromise weld adhesion as screw with the grain structure and previous welds from rapid heating and cooling.
Persona Non Grata it's not an aerospace component buddy, every welding video on UA-cam has "expert welders" with their two cents, nobody cares.
The coating on grade 8 bolts when welded makes toxic fumes vent well.
awesome videos, keep making them, I'll keep watching
I guess with both ends welded, you really wouldn't need a very thick locknut, as both ends are bolted in place. The thinner nut could serve to tighten the bolt in the welded nut and eliminate any tiny play. This could eventually get worse and wallow out the nut and allow the bolt to pull free.
I was thinking same thing
give to do the same to transform a panhard standard into adjustable panhard cut one side and make like you whith this?
ACE THE HELPFUL PLACE
