I've been thinking about selling one each of those braids in my Shopify shop once it's open, but then I look at them, and I'm not quite sure I can say Goodbye 😂
It is always fun for me to see how the different fibers look too. I still can't always predict it. I wonder if anybody is so experienced that they just know?
Ooooh, I can't decide which fiber I like better! They are both amazing! The yarns, I like the first one that has all those dark colors in it. They are all so pretty! what amazing results
Looks like a lot of fun, I can totally see dyeing becoming my next addition to my ever-growing range of yarn related hobbies. The fiber arts is such a deep deep rabbit hole 😂
I hardly ever think far enough ahead to know what I'll do with them! I'm more of a "do what feels right, and then figure out what it wants to be later" person.
Love them all. The last on has a metallic look. Didnt think I would like it because it had more subtle colirs... but I love it. Once again you have me think I might have to add this to my project list. 💕 Leandra
I did do the live chat, but something weird happened to it. I haven't done enough of them to know what. Good idea. I guess I should still put something out about it.
Those all came out beautifully! I knew I’d love the blue and green top because I always do. The pink yarn though really is vibrant and perfect for summer. It’s interesting that you don’t need to heat set the fiber.
Fabulous video again, thank you. Wow what a huge success the process was...I can’t choose. They all look amazing and I want to try it! I’ve never dyed anything but now I’m desperate to!
I did snow dyeing with drops of food color on Knitpicks stroll I love the socks I knit with it. My favorite from your video is the pinks and grey roving.
That's interesting. Maybe I'll have to try. Do you think it does something similar where the dye rolls down? Or does it go right through? I'll have to add it to my list of techniques to try.
@@FiberLoveDiary I will locate pic of my snow dyeing and email them to you. You can see the socks on my ravelry pages. You could drop food colors in a tray of Ice and do Ice dyeing that way too.
My favorite is the poinsettia, sand dune and amethyst roving but they are all beautiful! I love that you show each and every step of your process for those of us who don't know any better :)
That was so much fun, all the fun without the cleanup. They are all beautiful, The braid with the avocado green and blue dyes is my favourite, it is really pretty but really, all 4 are lovely. I thought that heat was necessary to exhaust acid dyes, this really surprised me. Your husband is so sweet to do all the things he does to support your fiber obsession and I think you were upstaged by Luther at the intro of this video, my eyes tried to look at you but kept peeking at him on the sofa. BTW I think I watch too many of your videos because I now catch myself humming the catchy little tune you always play😁. Thank you for such a fun experiment❤️
I think my favorite is the link colors and the Aztec Gold. Not sure what it is about that color it is one of my favorites to dye with. I've never used it with links but I will now! Thanks Trish for another great video! Susan
I don't think i've dyed anything without Aztec Gold since I got it. It just seems to make every other color a little bit better. It's really weird. I've been pricing the bigger containers, because I use it so, so much!
@@FiberLoveDiary on my this auto correct is crazy! It's supposed to say pink! Not link! Yes I have purchased several Aztec Gold i love that color so much.
I taught myself on an antique. It was a bit trickier than modern wheels, but it's totally possible! Yours may not even be trickier, because there are a lot of wheels out there that are antique and still work just wonderfully!
I think they’re all very professional-looking, Trish! I like them all, but I must admit that the “silver rose” fiber calls to me...! I’ll be curious to see how it spins up. I love the sock yarns a lot, too! I’ve never heard of ice dying before (learn something new every day!), so thanks for sharing that with us! Take care!
This is a great question! In a few weeks, I'll be demonstrating one for plant fibers that I think is perfect for beginners. BUT, I think I better do a full vid on a beginner technique for wool too. Thanks for the idea!
Hi Trish! What fun that was! I wondered about the clear water? Why was that important? I know nothing about dying so this is extremely interesting to me! All of them are beautiful, but for some reason the pink yarn calls to me (and I’m not a big pink fan!) but it’s just so pretty! And I really like the blue, etc.. roving, I cant wait to see how it looks spun up. I also was wondering what happened to the video of your live You Tube? I missed it and was looking forward to watching. Can’t wait to see what’s next!
The clear water tells me that all the dye is bonded and the yarn won't bleed (much if at all). Not everyone cares about that, but I absolutely hate yarn that bleeds. There was some sort of error in that video and it was deleted. I'm not exactly sure what happened, to be honest. Especially because there was still a thumbnail available, but no video.
Fiber Love Diary Thank you for the explanation, I hate colors that bleed as well! I’m going to file all this info in my brain for when I retire, I can’t wait to have time to try all of these new things!!
I have never tried to sell anything, but you can always email and ask! I wouldn't necessarily be against it! I have just never felt like I had time to set up a site or shop for it! I'm too busy dyeing and spinning 😂
Your dyeing is beautiful. I love how they all turned out. So, you ice dyed the wool fiber? So just the heat of the sun with the ice made the colors take and the water was clear?
Ooohhh they all turned out lovely, but my fav is the sunset yarn, very closely followed by the pink combed top....the pink bamboo is to die for! 😍😍😍 Approx. how much dye did you sprinkle on each time and how long did it take for the ice to melt? Is there a certain amount of ice you have to use?
I can't really say for sure how much I used, but my goal was a quarter teaspoon or less. I figured it would be so easy using powder to put in too much and have everything bleeding dye forever. It probably took between two and three hours to melt completely but I left it quite a while longer to let it heat in the sun.
Interesting, I have only ice dyed on top of a grill, so the liquid melts thru the fiber and it never sits in the meltwater. It gives a different effect, I’ll have to try it
O my!!! Beautiful. Will have to try ice dyeing again! Question: At what point did u put your acid in with the dye? Or did u soak your fibers in acid before dyeing? Lol, I placed a order with knit picks last night. Ugg
I think in the very beginning I said I presoaked in vinegar water overnight. I think I will put that in the description box just to make sure. But I do think if you were concerned, you could always drop a T or two of it in once everything is melted too. I was shocked how much I liked that fiber. Then a friend came over and saw everything I dyed and said, "Oh my gosh! What is this?" Hahahaha.
That pink and gray fiber are definitely my favorite. Looks fun to do.
I had a lot of fun with this!
That pink and grey is sooooo gorgeous!
Thank you!
Thanks for taking us on the journey. Thanks as well to your husband for being an ice-fetcher for you!!!
He is the best! He is always willing to help me with my mad scientist experiments 😂
That bamboo blend is a winner! I can't wait to see it spun up. Update video!!
Thank you! I really like that one too. The pearly pink and gray calls to me 😂
Oh that pink braid with silk is gorgeous! I think I know what I’m doing next week 🤪🧊🧶
Thanks! I hope you have fun.
Love the pink and gray one it’s beautiful
That one seems to win. I think I better get spinning so i can get it done.
Love the roving with the blue in it. Oh, I have to try this! Thank you!
Go for it!
Wow, oh so lovely. My fav is the pink bowl yarn and the red roving with the neutral color and then the other roving 💕💕
I've been thinking about selling one each of those braids in my Shopify shop once it's open, but then I look at them, and I'm not quite sure I can say Goodbye 😂
Love the yarn with the orange and pinks! Beautiful!!
Omg those are gorgeous!!!!! I absolutely adore the pink and orange combo on the yarn and the wool/bamboo roving is insanely scrumptious!!!!
Thank you so much!
All the piiiinks!! It’s gorgeous how the different fibers reacted to the dyes.
It is always fun for me to see how the different fibers look too. I still can't always predict it. I wonder if anybody is so experienced that they just know?
Oh so fun! A must try for sure
Love this! Thanks for sharing.
I just fell out of my chair at how beautiful they all are! amazing!
I hope you're okay!! 😂
Omg this was so fun. It was also SO HOT here in Minnesota then also. I need to try that Knit Picks roving. Thanks for all the tips.
I was shocked by how beautiful that KP fiber is. I did some Stroll since then and it's also so, so nice.
Lovely colors and it's great to see you :)
I miss you!
Love this! I have not tried this method yet. They turned out great!
Thanks so much 😊
In LOVE with the pink and grey roving and the yarn from the pink bowl. I have never tried this but now I think I should.
I think you should too 😂
Brilliant technique! I could try that with my kids :-) thanks for sharing x
Love them all. I’m a sucker for pink and gray so the Tenny roving at the end is my fav. But the sock yarns tho... 💕
Thank you!

That yarn was my hub's favorite. He's going to get a more saturated sock yarn of the same colors sometime soon!
Hi Trish, Thanks for sharing the ice dying. It was really fun to watch. My favorite was the light pink, hot pink, and violet yarn

It's awesome to be able to make exactly what you want in yarn or fiber! Or enjoy the happy accidents.
They are all beautiful. I love the yarn that was in the pink bowl and the roving you showed finished in the last shot. Thanks for sharing.
Those seem to be the big winners!
That pink and orange yarn is absolutely stunning! I am trying this technique today, not as hot in Yorkshire but hot enough 😃
Thanks! I have repeated it once, and will do again someday. I love that one. Good luck!
I love how these turned out! Im not juchnof a pink person usually, but i am loving both pink ones-especially the roving🥰
I loved how soft those colors came out. It really surprised me.
This was a lot of fun. I think the last one (roving?) that was pink and grey was my favorite. 😍
Looooovve the taupe and pink roving! But, they all look fab! What are you going to make with them? Lord...the decisions.

I love the pink and gray roving! All of them turned out beautiful!
Love the effects that you got in the end thankbyou so much for sharing x

I did let it sit until it was "sun hot". I figured it's probably pretty close to solar dyeing if I leave it long enough.

Certain dyes exhaust at different temperatures, so I did leave them out in the sun for quite awhile to get them warmed up.

It's pretty neat. Sort of a chaos theory thing, because you can't predict how the dye will run down onto the yarn or fiber. Thank you!
Love watching you dye yarn! If you were to recommend a technique for a beginner...which type of dying would you recommend?
This is a great question! In a few weeks, I'll be demonstrating one for plant fibers that I think is perfect for beginners. BUT, I think I better do a full vid on a beginner technique for wool too. Thanks for the idea!

Yes, v with the exception of the brown. I didn't know at the time, but it won't strike. I had to toss it.
