This show is great! :) I'm a teenager, and I found out about this show from my mom, and its one of the only things I watch! its a shame they dont show it on TV anymore, its still such a big hit! I've even gotten my friends to watch it, and love it! I've seen every episode, and i NEVER get tired of it! This show is a great classic.... :)
The hardest part of growing old is seeing those you grew up with passing on. Even if you never knew them but for the touching moments and the joy of laughter. RIP Mary Tyler Moore...
Thanks, it's nice to know someone as young as you appreciates these old shows. When I was growing up I loved (and still do) "I Love Lucy" though it was before my time. Funny is funny, that's the point. I was lucky to actually go to a filming of one of the MTM episodes, they were all so nice and it was a great time. Newhart was funny, too. I also loved the "Carol Burnett Show" as well.
From my perspective the best part is the last few minutes showing the wrap on the final scene...nice to see what happened on that final day of shooting MTM.
Betty White IS the prime example of how we all don't peak in our twenties. I think the world is just now beginning to realize that. Let's embrace AARP and all that comes with it.
One of the stand-out laughs on the laugh track sounds a lot like Lorenzo Music, who played Rhoda's unseen, usually drunk, apartment doorman, on her sitcom. He had a very distinctive laugh, between a wheeze and a guffaw. He also wrote some episodes of the 'Rhoda' show.
Stan Daniels' rendition of "Old Man River" during the audience warm-up is priceless. Listen carefully in the backgrund; you can hear Mary and Betty laughing themselves sick off-stage.
Lorenzo Music is the name of the writer/producer whose laugh is frequently heard off-camera during the taping of the MTM show, as well as other sitcoms.
Yes the Mary Tyler moore show was filmed on friday night and it was showed on television saturday night. And Mary Tyler Moore show it was done in front of a live studio audience. That is probably why you heard reel laugher and not canned laugher because Betty's husband Allen Ludden was at all the taping when they taped on friday nights. Betty and Allen were friend's of Mary and Grant so i think that is why that Allen was able to watch his wife at work.
Yes Mary was beautiful. I really loved her as Laura Petrie, Dick Vandiver show. I had forgotten how funny her MTM show was. I used to watch it alot. I really like watching these clips on UTUBE.❤
Every time I watch these, I laugh even harder than I did the previous time I watched them, as impossible as that might sound... I also get very sad being reminded that Ted Knight is no longer with us, I just adored everything about him. So talented, funny and just way too handsome. He must have had the patent on that whole "silver fox" thing because he nailed it.
I could have not said it better! Everything you said about Ted is what I was thinking. We have lost them all now although Marie & Bess are still with us and I love them both.Ted was my favorite. I miss all of them so much.Still watch mon-fri on Decades and on dvd on wknds.
Stan Daniels' Old Man River is my personal highlight, as it's not only hilarious, but he also wrote for the CBC in Canada - including a great number called "Uncle Louie" for the show 1955 in Review - which my Papa - Sammy Sales - performed. If any early-TV/Theatre buffs out there remember Sammy, pls post and let me know!
The trio of Mary and Rhoda and Phyllis was a golden thing in the early years, their scenes together were the best, and once those two characters left for their spinoff series, it was not the same for me; the show's quality remained, but that magical dynamic was dead and gone for good.
@@eduardo_corrochio yes it was a good trio but like the poster said the show didn't suffer and even improved once it became a full fledged work place comedy.
Ted, Gavin & Ed singing The Show is owned by Moore is everything. I’ve always wondered where that came from and who came up with the idea. So well done.
At 4:49, Ted, Murray and Lou are singing the melody of the song "More", but they changed it to say "Moore". That's terrific, and that's great comedy mixed with a great song which Andy Williams sings also. Wow! I've never seen the part after the show finished starting at 5:30. Is there any Moore? :)
@irvinemuscle I feel you there. I'm 22 years old, and I honestly hate most of the stuff on now, and would rather watch these older shows like Mary Tyler Moore, The Bob Newhart Show, all the good shows you could watch with your kids, and had people on there you could look up to.
So sad to see this, knowing that all 8 of these great, great talents are now gone. Their work will live on, of course but, well, it's sad nonetheless. RIP Mary, Rhoda, Phyllis, Murray, Lou, Ted, Sue Ann and Georgette. You will never be forgotten.
Remember, when this show aired, there were only THREE networks, so a show could get massive viewership, which meant advertising dollars you could never get in today's world of hundreds of channels. Shows could afford the best creative teams, cast members, and production values.
The "Moore" song sung by Ted, Gavin and Ed is from a mid-70s issue of Mad magazine! I was too young then to truly appreciate this show, but now I feel like seeing it, as if for the first time.
@davidallancoe1 What was really surprising was Ed Asner having included the Mad Magazine parody The Mary Tailor-Made Show as a special feature in Season 2 - talk about being a good sport.
True. There was something very very special about Mary. That rare special quality is what put her over the top. That's what made her so incredibly gorgeous on the outside. It was what was inside.
No, it's not Sandrich. it may be the audience warm-up they had after Lorenzo Music went on to write and produce and play Clarton the Doorman on "Rhoda."
Stan Daniels IS old man River. Sol River, the deli guy who married Aunt Muriel's cousin's daughter Miriam, with that thing on her chin that wasn't a mole.
I knew a guy in Oklahoma in the '70s who told me, "We usually just wear jeans and shirts, but when we want to dress up, that's when we put on our _liesure suits_."
I've always wondered about that laugh, too. Some of the MTM writers and crew went on to work on Taxi, but Lorenzo Music wasn't one of them, so I doubt it was him. I always thought it was a female laugh, but I could be wrong.
@mfatimazora WHAT?!?! You should check out some of the outtakes and bloopers from the 1930's movies. Bette Davis and Humphrey Bogart (and nearly everyone else) had mouths like sailors. Remember, the MTM show was filmed in front of a live audience.
He also played cousin Oliver on "The Brady Bunch" for about 3 or so episodes. I think before that he did mainly commercials. Have you seen the way he looks now?
I like the episode when they were in Washington DC. Mary had a date for a nice function and she felt sorry for Mr. Grant who was all alone. As it turned out, an old friend dropped in on Lou while Mary was on her date.. The old friend turned out to be President Ford.
@chuckiejay Agreed. I saw her a few years ago and she still looks amazing. Sadly, diabetes has almost totally robbed her of her site. She has battled it since, I believe, before Dick Van Dyke. She has always stayed in tip-top shape to control the losses associated with it as much as she can.
The Yiddish "old man river" bit is hilarious. Thanks for sharing!
Just reading this now and you’re definitely not a teenager anymore, I hope your life went well.
I grew up on the reruns and now I watch it in bed every night!
I love to know that teens still love it!
I still want to grow up to be Mary!😉
The hardest part of growing old is seeing those you grew up with passing on. Even if you never knew them but for the touching moments and the joy of laughter. RIP Mary Tyler Moore...
so true.........
When did she die?

Yep.

Betty White. Queen of bloopers! Always hilarious and on point.
+Allen M. Quinn - and she's still got it at 93!
Always Awesome. Even the bloopers were awesome. And MTM gave EVERY FUNNY LINE to everyone else. She was SO GREAT...
She knew what the great Jack Benny knew: a line is funniest if it fits the character who says it.
One of the best's shows of all times. Nothing like it today.
I loved those shows.
I miss Mary Tyler Moore so much . she was a wonderful person .
Been enjoying the series again on DVD. Love this show.
Absolutely loved this show...Great memories!
What a special moment in television history to be a apart of how fortunate they all were ❤️📺
Mary, Ed, Ted, Gavin, Betty, & Valerie. RIP with great amazing respects, honor, & love to the 6 iconic legends
And Cloris. Such a great comedic presence.
And don't forget Georgia Engel. She's gone now too, unfortunately.
From my perspective the best part is the last few minutes showing the wrap on the final scene...nice to see what happened on that final day of shooting MTM.
Okay! The 'Old Man River' schtick, was HILARIOUS!
I love stuff like this that makes me laugh out loud when I'm alone. Old Man River was hysterical...
How have I never seen the Yiddish Old Man River? Brilliant.
We love you, MTM.
Betty White IS the prime example of how we all don't peak in our twenties. I think the world is just now beginning to realize that. Let's embrace AARP and all that comes with it.
You can tell they were having way too much fun on that set!
5:56 Mary meowing and the cat saying "bye" made me crack up! So funny!!

They should have had this on the show that aired. If they did, I never saw it. It was hilarious.
OMG, the Yiddish-Talking Old Man River is a work of genius!
Long into to the Stan Daniels bit...but watching him do "Old Man River" was a hilarious treat!
Lorenzo Music is the name of the writer/producer whose laugh is frequently heard off-camera during the taping of the MTM show, as well as other sitcoms.

you'd never know she was the producer. they looked like they were having a ball.
Every time I watch these, I laugh even harder than I did the previous time I watched them, as impossible as that might sound...

Farewell Mary Tyler Moore
Thanks for the information...I wish it were on Prime Time, much better than the stuff they have on right now!

Just like you can hear Jim Burrows laugh on all the shows he directs - Cheers, Frasier, Friends, Will & Grace...
MTM was one of the only sitcoms that was successfully able to change cast members and get better as the show went on
Cheers
The trio of Mary and Rhoda and Phyllis was a golden thing in the early years, their scenes together were the best, and once those two characters left for their spinoff series, it was not the same for me; the show's quality remained, but that magical dynamic was dead and gone for good.
M*A*S*H
@@eduardo_corrochio yes it was a good trio but like the poster said the show didn't suffer and even improved once it became a full fledged work place comedy.
Yes! MTM, Barney Miller, Cheers and MASH are the only ones that pulled it off.
MTM Show and Golden Girls - best sitcoms EVER!
omg - The yiddish theatre version of OLD MAN RIVER is hysterical
0:50 betty white can throw down.
Stan (guy who "talked" Old Man River) looks like he's wearing Percy Dovetonsils (Ernie Kovacs) glasses. That whole bit was hilarious.
this show is one of the greatest! hahaha
Old Man River was hilarious!
1:40 Humorous Old Man River done by Stan Daniels in the 2nd Ave Yiddish Production of Showboat!
Love the Yiddish Show Boat, lol 😂
Ted, Gavin & Ed singing The Show is owned by Moore is everything. I’ve always wondered where that came from and who came up with the idea. So well done.
Rumored to have come from Mad magazine. Wish we still had that!
3:19 - Stan Daniels wrote the theme to "Phyllis", a spinoff from this show.
that old man river was too funny...
I don't suppose there any more bloopers from the show? These are great.

Too bad they don't show this great series on tv .....it's better than the current crap.

AMEN TO THAT!!!!
They do still show it. On specialty channels.

Classic TV...the good ole' days.
Classic show. The Best, that was our Mary.
I've always liked his laugh--it was a signature sound from those MTM days...
It is soo nice to see these bloopers of old shows where actors don't cuss. People as well as actors were more decent at the time.
They sound like they all had a ball on that set.
@davidallancoe1 What was really surprising was Ed Asner having included the Mad Magazine parody The Mary Tailor-Made Show as a special feature in Season 2 - talk about being a good sport.
MTM,a treasure
Can’t believe they are all gone
Mary was sooooooooo beautiful; am I right, people???????
Well, I have always had a crush on her. Ever since the Dick Van Dyke re-runs.
True. There was something very very special about Mary. That rare special quality is what put her over the top. That's what made her so incredibly gorgeous on the outside. It was what was inside.
It was a Great television show.
Inside and out. She was an amazing person.
She was my first crush when I was 12 and she was Laura Petrie. Oh, Rob.
It's James L. Brooks. He was the producer and creator of both Taxi and The Mary Tyler Moore Show.
Ted Knight was so damn handsome. Wow.
He is so good!👍😂
No, it's not Sandrich. it may be the audience warm-up they had after Lorenzo Music went on to write and produce and play Clarton the Doorman on "Rhoda."
@gws51284 That episode is from before she was married. These scenes are NOT all from the final season.
I love Georgette's face @ 1:20...
Old Man River LOL!
Stan Daniels IS old man River. Sol River, the deli guy who married Aunt Muriel's cousin's daughter Miriam, with that thing on her chin that wasn't a mole.
i wish there were more! (:
the old man river was my Hilarious
1:44 Great 70's suit

do you have any more gag reels for previous seasons? if not do you know where one could find them?
I just wish there were more :(
When these people passed on it's like losing a close friend.
I've always wondered about that laugh, too. Some of the MTM writers and crew went on to work on Taxi, but Lorenzo Music wasn't one of them, so I doubt it was him. I always thought it was a female laugh, but I could be wrong.
I love that "Goose" laugh!!

The laugh heard from 5:27 to 5:29 is James L. Brooks (creator of The Mary Tyler Moore Show), not Lorenzo Music.
@metrocard09 I think it might be either David Davis or Ed Weinberger, who were co-producers on the show with Stan Daniels and Lorenzo Music
0:41 what did mary and that guy say?
Perfect endings.....😭😭😭😭😭😭🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
I don't understand the old man river....thats wasn't from an episode was it? or on any dvds? because I have never seen it up until now

Porque os episódios de Mary Tyler Moore não são dublados ou com legendas em português?
He also played cousin Oliver on "The Brady Bunch" for about 3 or so episodes. I think before that he did mainly commercials. Have you seen the way he looks now?

The "old man river" bit starts at 1:40
was this in front of an audience?? XD
