Thank you for posting this insightful video. My fiancée unexpectedly passed away in 2015 and I never thought I’d want to get into dating anyone else. He was the only guy I ever had a relationship with. It’s been 5 years now, and I’m slowly starting to feel like I could take that step toward dating. This video helped a lot. It took me two months for me to find someone special from Catholic match. Now that I’ve found her. Her name is Kathryn and on a Tuesday during Holy Week, she and I first met for the first time. I myself was nervous about meeting her but I managed to remain calm. During the first time she and I met, she seemed very honest and decent. And this past Saturday, I got to see her again and for the first time my mom met her as well. And mom said that she was very decent, honest and nice as well.
I recently created a account with Catholic match and last week, I upgraded to a premium account so I can message other people who are single. The reason why I joined this site because this past November I got out of a relationship with a girl that was unhealthy and toxic. The reason why the relationship was unhealthy and toxic because she took me for granted financially and manipulated me. And worse, she raised her voice at me and that was the final straw. Some of the young women who are Catholic live in West Hartford CT.
I'm going to tell the bitter truth, I was disappointed in catholicmatch for many reasons. One is that too many people got banned or restricted from posting, when I think they did well enough from what I saw. Another is that certain threads were deleted because management decided for us that they weren't useful enough. Also sad was that the users themselves were too often negative about others and what we opted to post. I'll give also an exact example of what I was disappointed in. There was a poll that asked something like what we are INITALLY more attracted to: someone's looks or their devoutness in Catholicism. I didn't enjoy answering the way that I did, but I knew the answer naturally was the former so I answered that way. I was the _only_ male who answered that way. I think only 2 females answered that way. It's rare to non-existent that people are initially more attracted to the latter. If this bunch of adults don't even answer this question accurately, then that's a problem: people were either misunderstanding the question or lying.
You make a valid point. I think that if I were asked a question what was I more attracted to physical appearance or the teaching of the Catholic faith, my answer would be initially I would be more attracted to someone with a nice appearance but for a relationship, my faith would matter more than physical appearance. Also, compatibility and emotional maturity matter. I don't think they should've asked that question. I, myself have given up on dating because it's too hard to find someone at my age who respects chastity before marriage. I would rather wait even though I was once legally married (but it was not a sacramental marriage). Meh, I am happy being single so it doesn't matter.
I was on Catholic Match, and it didn't work for me. I am more than happy I tried. I was very much struggling with my mental health, from a loved one's suicide, and my mental health problem was made so much worse during this time. I had a childhood onset mental health condition, and I felt I couldn't place my cross on the men. Now I feel like I am enough, and I see me through the Lord's eyes and not mine. The Lord instilled in me to be a writer, and I use my writing as therapy for me and others. He and my guardian angel have helped me so much. My mission is to be a writer, and my vocation is in His hands.
I used Catholic Match & did a premium membership. My intent was to meet a single Catholic man who was mature, centered, loving, & dedicated to the faith. Nope. I encountered men who were either bored, lonely, or had other motives for being online. I did it for about 4 months then said no more. Now I feel if God wants me to be married He'll make it way. Good luck for everyone in finding that special someone!
What I didn’t like about CM was you don’t know who is active or not, as in many other sites. You may be messaging someone who hasn’t been on line in months. To be this is deceptive.
I agree it's very frustrating. I downloaded a Catholic match sometime in September, I tentatively tried texting some men on there. Eventually met up with one of them, it was a disaster. We went on a few dates but he definitely was not marriage material. I also have my suspicions that he was pretending to be Catholic in the first place as he would never attend Mass but would claim he went. He would say things like "It doesn't matter how often you go to Mass as long as you're a good person" and even complained about the Catholic practice of honoring saints and asking for their intercession. On top of this he was nowhere near ready to settle down with anyone even though he was around 33. He seemed very mentally unstable overall, he was also arrogant and would constantly put me down for my apperance and dress. After a rather inappropriate conversation with him I decided I was through with him. I still have the profile and check it from time to time but I've basically lost much of my enthusiasm. I've come to the conclusion that many of these men don't know how to find a girl normally and/or are desperate and/or are emotionally incapable of finding a relationship in a normal way and so they go on Catholic match. It's exhausting.
I highly doubt that the majority of men on that site adhere to Catholic teaching when it comes to premarital sex. Men do not want to wait and if you tell them that you prefer to wait, they'll dump you fast.

I just signed up for "catholicMatch" but I already regret it, sometimes we dream of finding BIG LOVE" but from the comments on the video, there are only interesting girls, and needy boys. I've seen so many couples happy to build a family , that I thought it was easy to find someone who had the same values. (and about the comment, from girls of another nationality, other countries say that the American man is a "prince", must give some kind of Cinderella complex. I really I don't know what to expect from the future, I think whoever finds love must be some kind of luck. I just know that if it's to have a wrong and toxic relationship, I can be happy alone. A lot of people are very much skeptical about the concept of online dating because of its novelty to the society, and they keep asking whether or not it is in conformity with the Catholic teachings on moral values?
From a male perspective it's a waste of time and money. What's worse is that your messages are read by site administrators. Do your homework and research before committing to creating a profile. I have spoken to other people and their experience was similar to mine.
My experience has been disappointing. There's very few women that are local and the one I met who lived nearby didn't really want to get involved with me. She wasn't really serious about meeting someone just using it to pass the time. It's a shame because I think dating sites are good to use to screen people so you're already familiar with what you are getting.

Hi Vinny! I'm not sure about all of the ins and outs of paid vs. unpaid memberships... I'd say it's worth a shot to try it out the paid membership for a month and see how you feel about it. Worst case, you cancel it and best case you find someone really great - at least that's how I see it!

Catholic match is terrible. There are few decent conservative serious Catholic men on there. And you would think a Christian site wouldn't be so shallow, but it is. If beautiful virtuous girls aren't getting pursued by good men on there, what's the point? Because average ladies won't stand a chance.

The only women who looked at my profile were either Asian women seeking to escape poverty in their homelands or women from outside the area I was looking in. The closest woman to my area who bothered looking at my profile was in Louisville, KY. I canceled after three months; I haven't been back since. The only single adult group in Saint Louis, the Catholic Single Adult Club of Saint Louis, has fewer single women than single men in the group; it isn't any better. Ave Maria Singles charges an arm and a leg to join...most of the single women in Missouri on that site are in Kansas City. Ten years ago, I accepted God's calling to Holy Single Life.
I'm in Chicago and here the only single Catholic women my age [34] range seem only interested in themselves which makes you wonder whether they are actually religious at because religion teaches u to be understanding and open but they seem like selfish, travel/money addicted narcissists. Sometimes I think Muslims got it better because of the whole arranged marriage thing, which is probably the reason why so many Catholics are now converting to Islam across the world

I was ONLY looking in my hometown. Meeting a woman "half way" meant someplace like Webster Groves, Alton, Wildwood or Saint Charles...not Los Angeles, Honolulu or Tokyo. My brother was married to an Asian woman for 21 years before he lost his battle with cancer a decade ago; he was subject to racial harassment. This is something I clearly don't want to deal with. The United States has tough immigration laws; I also did not want to deal with the red tape associated with bringing a foreign citizen into the United States. I could also have my loyalty to the United States questioned if I ever married a non-U.S. citizen.
