    Opinions will vary on this, but, "I'm" glad to see a well respected and known "Operator" and firearms instructor not doing the "Magpul grip." Some call it the C grip. MBest11x Makes light of that grip in one of his videos. I've read that Vickers' has trained more Spec Ops guys than any other instructor, by a long shot.
    I wish civilians could own the same weapons as our Military and Police. That full auto 10.4" barrel would be a nice gun to have. Good video, for sure!

      @@kaiul2967 the OTB modifications that prevent the 416 from blowing have to be custom ordered in the contract because the chamber has to be cut differently and this causes reliability issues with certain types of ammo.
      Without the full set of modifications the 416 will blow too. It has to do with the chamber and how overpressure will cause a case failure at unsafe chamber pressures.

    how is the accuracy with this gas system compared to the stadard AR platform or a long-stroke system on a platform such for example the SIG 556?

    • @pitbull82
      @pitbull82 10 років тому

      Direct impingement guns are more accurate. There are some articles you can find using Google. If that accuracy would be a big deal? Didn't seem like it. Half to 1 moa at 100 meters.

  • @nbates9893
    @nbates9893 9 років тому +3

    People always give me shit because I build my 14.5 and 16 inch rifles in direct impingement format and I build my sbr's in piston format. This is why I do it. Piston is much more desirable than DI in a short barreled rifle.

    • @nbates9893
      @nbates9893 9 років тому +2

      Shit DI definitely has its place it's not like the seals couldn't get the job done in Vietnam or anything because they didn't have piston guns. They still fucked shit up before the 416 era. I do have one DI sbr the DD MK18 upper and that girls got a few thousand rounds through her on an lmt lower with no lube or cleaning. Runs like a fucking sewing machine. It's basically personal preference whether you go DI or piston but the whole swimming aspect for the seals is why the 416 is a great choice for them.

      @nbates9893 9 років тому +2

      Haha dude that's standard media misguided and out of context bullshit. They have an agenda. Do you own an ar15 rifle? Have you ever watched these rifles be torture tested? Let alone test one yourself...They almost always exceed expectations. It's a great rifle. The rifle your issued in the military that's been over seas 10 times already before your deployment is obviously going to be on its last legs. That's common sense. That's a result of funding. Buy a rifle from bcm or daniel defense and run a couple thousand rounds through it then come back and talk to me. And I know what your thinking...and yes an ak47 will stop running same as an m4 when the action is full of sand and mud. No weapon on planet earth will run when the action is compromised like that. Mud will shut down a pump shotgun in no time. Keep your shit cleaned and lubed and it will do you justice.

      Don't base too much of what you think works off of what the navy seals prefer bud. That's one of the highest speed units in the world son and they're a very specialized unit. Not to mention I already told you they prefer it because of the whole swimming thing....just because the navy seals prefer 100% cotton boxer briefs doesn't mean 20% polyester is not any good. Lmao get a life dude. Get out and shoot. Take a break from the internet. The weekend is almost here...perfect time to go buy your first gun and start actually doing this hobby that your so interested in. Instead of just listening to what other people tell you and having no idea what your talking about because you have zero first hand experience. Maybe you can even become a navy seal one day hahaha

      also saying that the G36 is lightweight due to the plastic is rubish since some of the basic M16 and M4 varients with a lot more metal to them way less then the basic G36

    HK shows off all these things the 416 can do like it's special, but all of the things it does are inherent to the AR 15 design. Except for the safety. Just funny how they like to pretend the 416 is something new, and exceptional when the only thing exceptional about it is the price.

    • @heinrichfuhrmeister1244
      @heinrichfuhrmeister1244 2 місяці тому

      Untrue. 416 takes a lot more abuse before malfunction. Downsides are weight and recoil impulses. If you prioritize reliability, 416 is the way to go

    The MK18 is doing great things over seas with SOCOM operators. The Mk416 is simply unnecessary. Other then being able to fire with water in the barrel and gas port your not gaining anything for the 2000 dollar price tag unless its chambered in 6.8,6.5,300 BLK

    • @Griep68
      @Griep68 10 років тому +3

      The Hk 416's gas system on a shorter barrel is far superior to a carbine length D.I gun which is linked to the reliability issues common on the army's M4. Also the 416's internal parts will last as much as twice as long compared to the standard M4 do to less heat transfer from the super heated gasses returning to the bolt carrier group.

    • @89tonstar
      @89tonstar 10 років тому +6

      First off none of what you said has been scientifically proven in any extensive independently done tests(H&K doesn't count). A recent test done by an ex SOCOM operator in conjunction with the JSCP found that 80% of the M4s failures come from the magazines, the remaining 20% is from weak buffer or extractor springs in a very small amount of cases they found that extensive use on a rifle can cause failures in the gas tube due to heat(i.e. firing full auto). This is why the DOD threw out the Mk416 and the SCAR in their individual carbine tests, you gain virtually NO reliability over the existing M16/M4 platform(especially for the cost). You ever wonder why HK produces their own STANAG magazine? Because that's how you gain the majority of your reliability out of that platform. Research has shown that a there can be problems with a pistol length DI system but almost all of those can easily be remedied by replacing the buffer and extractor springs with tougher, heavier springs and some good lube ever few thousand rounds.
      As far as internal parts lasting longer on the 416 and other piston systems this also has not been proven either as only time will tell. Right now the 416 only serves a very limited role in SOCOM and the SCAR serves only a small role in SOCOM and the regular Army. It is simply NOT worth the 2,000+ dollar price tag. Right now the DOD pays about $600 dollars for ever M4 compared to the $2000 dollar price tag for a piston equivalent.

    • @Griep68
      @Griep68 10 років тому +6

      tbone martinez
      The HK416 addresses these issues by beefing up the buffer spring and extractor springs and even increased the size of the bolt carrier. The price of the weapon system is high simply because it has not reached nearly the same amount of production as the standard M4/16. In time with more contracts the price will go down do to supply and demand. With more and more countries replacing there D.I. weapons for more modern piston operated weapons(i.e German, Australian and Norway's armed forces),not just the HK416, the befits are hard to ignore. The United States is one of the very few modern military forces that still uses D.I in there standard combat rifles. I'm not saying the D.I. system is completely obsolete but just a little outdated compared to more modern operating systems.

    • @89tonstar
      @89tonstar 10 років тому +1

      the piston system is by no means modern, it is probably older then an expanding gas system used in an M16. I agree that the short stroke piston system is better on paper however it comes at a huge price and practically no gain in reliability and accuracy over existing systems. HK already had the opportunity to present a mil spec cheaper version of the 416 at industry day to the DOD and they stilll came in at about 2 times the cost of a standard Colt or FN produced M4. So they threw it out along with every other piston system. The reason SMALLER armies use the 416 is becuase they field maybe a few thousand regular infantry and thats it. The US military is many many times larger then European armies and simply cannot afford the price to equipe each soldier with a piston equivilant. the US military will always favor cheap simple combat proven designs over expensive fancy modern designs which have not been proven in any major conflict. in fact the only change that is likely to happen soon is a switch to the 6.5 grendal.

    • @89tonstar

      The scar still has issues. Have you used one other in video games? Didn't think so.
      It is a very good weapon system, however it IS very expensive and for such a good weapon system, it seems to have alot of plastic pieces that are a fan of breaking. Having your shit fall out of the handle because the plastic clip snapped off your brand new $2200 gun is extremely frustrating.

    • @Mr.Ut21
      @Mr.Ut21 9 років тому

      There was nothing wrong really with the plastic Uegene stoner had available to him. M-14's are not obsolete nor are the plastic ones 'heavy as hell' as you state. They are just long. You actually see them alot in the 'stan.
      You do not know which plastic parts I am even referring to as it seems. And the civilian market doesn't mean crap, as everyone that a scar or an ak or ar wipes it down with a diaper and kisses it good night everyday. Of course their stuff doesn't break, they don't use it as a weapon/tool every day like guys do in country.
      Again, the SCAR is a fine weapon, but the problem with it is it is still very expensive, and it only solved one problem with the m14's, in that it doesn't use the gas blowback system. But Colt has fixed that problem as well, so I don't ever see it taking the place of the m16/14 anymore.
      As far as the 7.62 versions, it's just a cool toy. It offers nothing that the m14 with a polymer stock does not offer already. Except for the folding stock (no one folds their shit anyways).

    14:03 AND THIS IS WHY NO MATTER HOW COOL I THINK THE HK 416 IS I WOULD NEVER BUY ONE...AND ITS ASHAME BECAUSE ITS COOL. I dont need a Gun maker to make special parts to make sure I am "MORAL" i will taking my preaching from the preacher not the guy I buy weapons from.

    We could not put the gun on safe unless the gun was charged on the 416 we had in the army...

      The short-stroke gas system in the G36 is borrowed from the AR-180 so it's the same thing.

    aparently what lary says in the first 2 minutes is that a perfect replacement for the HK 416 is a MP7 because he says that the M4 is "to big" so is the HK416 the real problem is that the M4 isnt reliable
    DONT YOU LIE ON US!

      There no problem with 416 besides price. He wanted ar15 control with shorter barrel than 14.5

    It's bulshit that they designed the MR556 to not except full auto Bolt carrier! What if one of the Lucky fucker's out there that have a RDIAS want to stick it in the lower of "THEIR" MR556 lower? Or if they have a full auto lower receiver? I just find it fucked up and bulshit! I still love HK though and wish they would offer the new MR556 A2 (I think that's it lol), and MP7!

    • @ricks.1092
      @ricks.1092 10 років тому +1

      Even if your AR has the proper shelf for a RDIAS you can't just drop it in. It won't work. So when companies like Spike's Tactical advertise their gun has RDIAS shelf, it's purely as a marketing scheme, A lower receiver has to have a pin hole to hold the RDIAS is place. The hole would be directly above the safety selector switch. Then of course you still need to proper hammer, carrier and selector switch for the entire system to work. You would be surprised is how simply the RDIAS is and people could easily make their own. If they had some of the basic power tools.

    The $2000 price tag is more justifiable for say an LWRC M6 or a Krebs Custom KV-13 not the H&K M556.
