I totally agree! If you listen to all Santana stuff where he plays the energy was at it’s PEAK and the whole percussion section gelled together in a unique way that was never replicated again.
When l tell people that drums will change and save a life, non musicians give me that "yeah right" look. That joy and energy that Raul brought was Heaven sent. Thank you Lord for BLESSING him the way you did.
Seem Santana many many times but for me the early line up and the line ups of the late 80 and 90 s gelled perfectly. RIP senors Rekow and Peraza..Escovedo (Coke) who all contributed to the wall of persuasion sound that defines the Santana sound as much as Santana himself. Anyone who has not seen it , take a peak at Sacred Fire Video
I'd watch Santana play live anytime! I've liked this band since i first heard Black Magic Woman just over 5 decades ago, and somehow, my appreciation is still growing.
True but sadly we'll never see the best version of Santana ever again because Raul Rekow and Armando Peraza (seen here) are now both dead, and Carlos booted out all the other classic members years ago. The bands he has played with since 2000 onward pale in comparison to his 70's and 80's lineups. It's like karaoke now.
@@WordsandSoundsMusic Yes, I met Raul just before the freedom-tour show at the tshirt booth. He signed my santana freedom booklet, a nice person. Met him twice, later with Karl in 1992.
Arguably the greatest rhythm section in the world at the time . I prefer Graham Lear on drums and Oreste Vilato on timbales . They seem to bring out the best in each other
Peraza great ! Santana great! Chepito Dave Brown Shrieve Carabello...Greg Rolie! Awesome! Best Latin percussion Mongo Santamaria on congas Tito' El Rey' Puente Timbales! on the planet!
I've seen Carlos and company four times the only bad part about his concerts was he ended too soon I could have sat there all night long and listen to this being a drummer myself I totally enjoy the rhythm it's excellent if you've never seen him then you're missing
I saw him in the late 80's in Tucson Arizona outside at the Pima Fairgrounds. There must have been only a thousand people at max. They had no warmup band and they played for over 3 hours. They played all of the old hits and the wall of percussion was fantastic. It goes down as one of the best concerts that I have ever attended
I got to meet Raul many times, Armando once, and Walfredo Reyes-all the 3 the nicest smiliest gentlemen you could ever meet. Graham and Michael as good as you can get and Cindy now so fabulous. When these 4 were together it was definitely the best group and people freak out over Orestos and Chepito. 'Abraxas Pool' is an incredible album and these guys did R.O.A.R. too. ua-cam.com/video/mg7uxyaHVXA/v-deo.html
I have the ROAR album and yes, Abraxas Pool was incredible! Too bad they couldn't do more. I thought they sounded more like Santana than ... well, Santana.
@@WordsandSoundsMusic ROAR was so Generic somehow I listened to it only once. Abraxas Pool one of the best albums by anyone! Everyone says what you just did-they wish Carlos's bands were that good. It's disgusting he did not do a Tour with the Original Band. I love Neal and he's great on that album and everything he plays on but Carlos has the best Tone of anyone and the Holy Spirit. When he plays with equals he's so much better and when he plays with Holy people like on this new tune he's better yet. Did you hear this yet? Graham Lear! 10 years with Santana and my favorite most overlooked drummer in my humble opinion.
I totally agree! If you listen to all Santana stuff where he plays the energy was at it’s PEAK and the whole percussion section gelled together in a unique way that was never replicated again.
100% True.
No one showed more joy in playing congas than Raul Rekow, he was born to play.
When l tell people that drums will change and save a life, non musicians give me that "yeah right" look. That joy and energy that Raul brought was Heaven sent. Thank you Lord for BLESSING him the way you did.
Love his smile when he plays
Don't forget Graham Lear the Great he was part of the best percussionist in the world
But of course!
@rubengil1418 You got it bro that late 80’s rhythm section arguably the best in the world or ever assembled in a band
Orestes Graham,Peraza RIP and Raul RIP all badasses!!!
The heart and soul of Santana tough to duplicate will never be the same
Couldn't be beat.
Vilato a master percussionist . A real monster. Arguably the best then and now.
Santana concert was the most PERFECT show that I have ever seen in my 60 years of attending concerts. Pure perfection precision!!!
The best line up ever 😎😎😎
Thank you Armando and Raul for all the jamming you gave us....met both of you in Houston Tx. at a drum clinic....rest in peace!!
Raul always gave his best RIP
Oh my God, simply the best
For me the greatest band one of a kind music there will never be another band like it

Late 80’s early 90’s Arguably the best group Carlos ever assembled Contributed to great albums
@@jesusrivera743 Early 90's no, but 76-87 was the best era of Santana, the years when 'King' Graham Lear was on the drumkit.
Right Here! BEST PLAYERS EVER
You know it ...

Raúl Rekow y Armando Peraza, ahora tocan las congas en el paraíso!! 🙏🙏
You have to experience santana live to understand the river of music that flows in to the realm of mystic beauty and awareness god bless em all

Yes totally agree, started losing interest after about 1988.
@@greatunz67 good point and why did he booted out all of the old members
I agree
Vilato el maestro!
This was my favorite lineup
The best just cooking the best you will ever witness thanks to the beautiful band
Doesn't get better than this!
Er ist einfach klasse.
raul rekow the man
Pure magic...saw this line up in Holland.

The original sound from the first two albums can’t be replaced.

Jo soy un Santana fun club tiengo 255 album
I prefer the originals musicians with that clean sound.
Sorry it's Graham
I was good but who sang how could they have Santana without Greg Rolli
Marc quinones pretty good too
Sounds like everyone is about to go off the rails, but pure dynamite.
Great performance, but Ray Barreto anytime.
Giovanni Hidalgo is insane check him out
Tops!
