This percussion line up was second to none! I believe this was the Moonflower tour...which I saw in Tampa back during that time. Raul Rekow was a monster on the Congas!
That's the supremely talented Graham Lear killing it on the Yamahas. I saw Sanatana the following year and was absolutely floored. Easily one of the best drummers I've seen, and I saw Bonham the year before...
Dave Margen bass ,Tom Coster keyboards , Armando Perazza congas and bongos Raul Rekow congas Pete Escovedo timbales Graham Lear, the great on drums, Carlos Santana guitar and timbales
I was a big Santana fan during their first 4 albums. Their first two were the best. I'm sorry, but this performance of Soul Sacrifice does nothing for me. I think the "Soul" was gone here. Greg Rolie had moved on to form Journey by this time. Mike's drum solo even lacks that certain something. Give me the Woodstock performance or even the studio version any day. Sorry, folks. I normally try not to be a critic, but this is very disappointing.
Say what you will, but I beg to differ. I love the Woodstock version of this song. I'm also a big fan of his earlier work. I think after while Carlos got boring and redundant. This is my first time viewing this version, and this kicks ass. Longer drum solo, bigger drum set. Dueling guitars. And the keyboards!!! And that tempo.. holy shite!! Great stuff. 😊
Graham Lear you areone of a kind...such tasteful feel.technique...just incredible...
Listen to his work on the Gino Vannelli album "Gist of the Gemini".
Everyone has magnificent ability. I do quite enjoy the Drummer who is always put the background!
The drum kit is about three time the size as the one at Woodstock.
I love this band.
This is brilliance. I love the bongos
super tight! Awesome footage!!!! thnx for sharing!!!!
I love Santana xxx
I was there, first group was a heavy metal group who were outstanding, LRBand played, Kevin Boric Express, Santana & Fleetwood Mac headlined.
First act was heavy metal from Japan. I'd never heard of them but they entertained.
@@markcollinson8322 Pretty sure they were called Creation
Michael e Graham, os dois Melhores Bateristas que tocaram com Santana Band. Os demais são bons.
Don't forget folks, these guys did not have a click track to play to in those days, yet they were this super steady and this super tight.
Amazing but Woodstock 69 is still my favorite.
yep, and young Michael Schrieve on the drums. Phenomenal
great.
wow
The Tanglewood version is my favorite
Do ye see this drummer?!!???
graham lear..saw him 2 weeks ago he plays in a jazz band here in niagara 75 years old now
The best live version is at Tanglewoood in 1970. This is even better than the Woodstock version.👍👍
Have to agree Mike 's drum solo is longer, awsome drummer so much energy and passion
Schreive's drums it's all 🙌🏻
its graham lear.shrieve had left by then
Graham Lear was so good here!!

Graham Lear the great makes them a rock band …
YessS! Now imagine Michael Shreive with full set of Tom Tom in Woodstock 69..!! 💥🙏🥁☑☑☑✔✅
I miss Michael Shrieve
This drummer was Graham lear I think the santana twins apparently
@@janehalstead760 I know. Michael left Santana in 1974, but I waz just stating that I love Michael Shrieve🤣☮♥️🤘
Amazing.. Who's on drums?? Tom Coster in the house..

Graham Lear
Lear is awesome…and I love the sound of his kit
You don't know what you're talking about. The drummer is Gramm lier not the original drummer.
We know, but he looks the same!
Not really. 😊
I was in the front here . Highlight of the concert. The following act was a letdown.
I think the following act was Little River Band
@@waakaalbert4207 LRB were before Carlos. Kevin Borich Express before LRB. Fleetwood Mac were the act following Carlos. Disappointing.
"That sure looks and sounds like Tom Coster to me. Narrator better re-check his noes."
@@JamesLillygren It is TC
It’s Coster. Coster was replaced months later.
Anyone familiar with this Santana lineup?

@@jesusrivera743 Thank You
Who's the shirtless axe man here?...
Kevin Borich
Kevin Borich looked a little bit lost. Not sure his improvisations were in sympathy with Carlos’ guitar licks.
Correct !
Estuvo mejor en Woodstock.

I agree, something is missing from this performance.
@@onyjdmmissing the PCP they used in Woodstock

I think the Osaka 1979 Soul Sacrifice is the best, Europa as well. @@frankspikes7858
