So just as a heads up: The other 2 IT movie reviews he did couldn't show actual movie clips due to copyright issues. So they had to re-enact the scenes from the movie themselves. I just wanted to let you know so you weren't confused about why they were doing the reviews differently than this one.

The "piss off" moment is an old running gag Critic used to have, where he dealt with a highly judgemental animated "elephant in the room." In this case, the actor he was talking about had committed suicide after a stretch of heavy drinking, so the drinking game idea wasn't exactly tactful here
As for the black and white shower scene, that's a scene from the classic horror film Psycho

25:17 That's why I wouldn't raccomend to watch a old Nostalgia Critic video without seeing the movie first: you don't have all the information he didn't catch. The guard's death here, is kinda stupid, yes, but it's a inside joke: King's rival is named Coonz (or something like that) and he gave this name to the guard. The real Coonz loves dogs, and so is the guard so, by Pennywise killing Coonz with a dog head, we get a ironic death for Coonz.
26:01 "So because that old guy ignored her?"
No, because ALL adults are negligent in Derry: Bill's parents who don't want to remember Georgie, Eddie's mom who turn him into a hypocondriac, Bev's father who keeps beating her (and much worst stuff in the other versions), this old man who's saying "saw nothing, will do nothing to save her", the teacher ignoring the DEATH TREATH. Again: watching the old Nostalgia Critic's review of a unseen movie is NOT the best way to enjoy it.
Again, I want to suggest "Dead Meat" for the horror movies, trust me, it's much better.

28:52 "make sense" Ok, can't actually blame on Doug, here: IT is an alien who takes the form of your fears, marinates you with fear since he loves the taste of frighted victims. To lure children to him he takes the form of Pennywise the Clown. His actual true forms are the Deadlights, those hypnotic lights in his head and belly, but his physical form is a spider since, what's the best item to rappresent fear in general? Spiders. But again: he's an alien, WHY SHOULD IT LOOK LIKE A NORMAL SPIDER!? This is honestly a good monster they created.
And I also find it better then the movie one (yeah, it DOES make sense since, well, we spent so much time with Pennywise, why not having him in the final battle? But I'm not a fan of THAT form... it defenitly works on paper, but not THAT much on screen, in my opinion)

Stephen King isn't a director, he's an author. Most of the Stephen King movies are just adaptations of his books that he didn't typically contribute to beyond the writing the source material that the movies draw from, as well as making a cameo in the movies himself like Stan Lee did in the Marvel movies. There's only a few movies I can think of that he heavily contributed to. One was Maximum Overdrive, which he wrote and directed because he wanted to "make sure someone finally did Stephen King right", which is a movie where machines on Earth come to life and turn on humanity, but it focuses almost entirely on evil cars. Another is the miniseries adaptation of The Shining, because despite the fact that the one directed by Stanley Kubrick is regarded as one of the best movies ever made, Stephen King hated it and made his own inferior adaptation of his own book to try and show up Kubrick. There's also another one, I think it's called Dreamcatchers, or sleepwalkers, I always mix up their names, that he wrote that never had a book adaptation before it hit theaters. In short, Stephen King can write really scary books, but they rarely translate well to the screen, often because there's things in the book that would seem stupid or insane to put in the movie. A good example of this is the god turtle from It (the book) that is a being that's as old as the universe and it's basically Pennywise's greatest enemy, because Pennywise is another such being, only pure evil, and it grants it's power the the kids and that's how the win in the book, but it's next to you impossible to make anyone take that seriously in a movie, which is why it never showed up properly in any It adaptation.

Stephen King is not a director though, so the bad movies are not entirely his fault. Its just that his writing doesnt always translate that well into a movie.
The only movie that he did direct was "Maximum Overdrive" which he suppossedly made when he was addicted to cocaine.
Not to say that Stephen King is a flawless author, he has written a bunch of dumb shit too, but there is at least always something about it that keeps it interesting. I would say that Stephen King is more good than bad, while M. Night Shamalayn is sadly more bad than good (...which i dont think was entirely his fault, and more the fault of media praising him to hell and back for his more average work, while actually overlooking the actual good movies he has made, causing him to repeat his mistakes instead of learning from them).

First off, Stephen King is not a director, he is an author.
Although i do agree that most Stephen King movies are pretty bad, the actual Stephen King books are definetley much better. Not every single book is fantastic, of course, but most have really good characters, interesting concepts and ideas, and usually a compelling story as well. He is a good author, not perfect by any means, but definetley not as bad as Critic tries to make him seem... Horror itself is just very subjective, and the books that Stephen King writes are just not for everyone. They have a certain appeal that is hard to find from other authors, and even his bad works at least have something unqiue about them that can still make them enjoyable. However, a major problem for why the movie adaptations of his work turn out quite horrible usually, is mainly due to the fact that his work in general just translates very badly into a movie form, which is hardly Stephen King's fault.
The only bad movie you can attribute to Stephen King as a director is "Maximum Overdrive", though suppossedly, he was addicted to cocaine during the time he directed that movie, so it also is not the best indicator of his actual quality as an author/director.

I disagree with Critic here. I think Stephen King's stories are just as good as the characters he makes. And IT does have an origin in the book. It/Pennywise is a shape-shifting creature known as a Glamour who is billions of years old. Although It lived on planet Earth for many years, It originated in a void/dimension outside the regions of space known as the Macroverse. Since Its true identity is unclear, due to its shape-shifting abilities and being from another universe, Its real name and species are called Deadlights, but few know this, which is why it is referred to as IT. The form of a female spider seems to be Its true physical form on Earth (or at least that is the closest thing the human mind can comprehend), living deep below the fictional town of Derry, Maine. It can morph into any other human animal, nonhuman animal or object (including combinations thereof). This ability is useful for, A) appearing as the target's loved ones or friends to manipulate them or lure them into a trap or B) appearing as the target's worst psychological fear. However, Its favorite and most common form is that of a circus performer named "Pennywise the Dancing Clown," as most small children love a clown and generally, it seems that the people in Derry happily accepted the presence of a stray circus performer. At the same time, many people are afraid of clowns, making them an easy fear to exploit.
Its real name (if indeed, it has one) is unknown. Although, several times in the novel, It calls itself by the name Robert “Bob” Gray. This may be an allusion to real-life child cannibal Albert Fish, who reportedly used the name "Robert Gray" as an alias. He may also get his first name from Robert "Bob" Bell, the man who originally portrayed Bozo the clown.
Its primary goal is to feed on humans, generally preferring children over adults since they were easier to scare and manipulate. According to the creature, frightened flesh tastes better and uses fear to "salt the meat".
It originated in an undiscovered void containing and surrounding our entire Universe, another far off universe referred to as the "Macroverse." (A concept related to Todash Darkness from The Dark Tower Novels).
Other evidence from this series suggests It is the creation of a separate omnipotent creator referred to as "the Other" (who may be the entity Gan). This "Other" helps the defeat of it at the end, and may also be responsible for the creation of "The Turtle", who is It's natural enemy. In It the novel, the Turtle refers to It as his "brother".
It may be one of, or a Twinner of, the six greater demon elementals mentioned by Mia in Song of Susannah (as the Spider is not one of the Beam Guardians). It's possible that there are other creatures of the same species as It, due to the fact that It is revealed to be pregnant.
No one knows the true form of IT since it first existed in an inter-dimensional realm referred to as "deadlights". Bill Denbrough comes close to see the "deadlights", but defeats IT before this happens. The true form of the "deadlights" exists outside the physical realm. Any living being that sees the "deadlights" goes insane almost instantly. Bill comes dangerously close to seeing the deadlights and the shape behind the shape for a brief moment. He described IT as an endless, crawling hairy creature made of orange light.
Throughout the novel, IT is generally referred to as male; however, late in the novel, the characters come to realize that IT is most likely female, due to its true form in the physical realm being that of a giant pregnant female spider. This revelation prompts Audra Denbrough to say, "Oh, dear Jesus, IT is female." This, however, is not its true form; it's just the closest representation of it in our universe. Due to its pregnancy, it’s very possible that a male of the same species as IT existed at one time. The reason there are so many terrible people in this movie is because of IT. IT is pretty much manipulating the entire town.

Beverly...... the only girl........"offers herself" to all of the guys in the group....... this is also why Beverly seems to be flirtatious with all of them as adults in the miniseries/movie.

never seen it myself - only tried some classik SK audiobooks over the years but couldn't keep listening for long...

I have to disagree with the Critic here on... most things, actually. "Not explaining where a supernatural creature comes from" is _NOT_ a let down. Once you understand something, it becomes less scary. Modern horror movies screw up by explaining everything.

He's only directed one movie, Maximum Overdrive.
