Wow you've got an amazing scope with the Edge HD Pawan. Congratulations! Looking forward seeing your first light. Best regards and clear skies.
Thanks Tully. Sure, the first light as soon as we get some clear night 🫠.
Congratulations on your new scope and wish you excellent views and or imaging time under the stars. Great video and thank you for sharing your unboxing and explanations on it all.
Clear skies..
Thanks a lot! Appreciate your wishes 🙏🏼. I’m glad that you liked the videos. Cheers!!
Congratulations Pawan. The OTA looks awesome.
Thanks Raj!
Great looking scope Pawan! can't wait to see what you get this coming Galaxy season. Clear skies.
Thank you Jason. Looks like cloudy nights are forever … :(
Congrats on the new scope. Looking forward to seeing your first images with this beast.
Thanks! Hoping to get some clear skies soon. It's been over 2 months now that we are having continuous cloudy nights.
CS!
Wow congratulations sir, do you stay in India? 6 months waiting period is so High
Thanks a lot! Appreciate your comments. No, I’m not in India. Clear Skies!!
Congrats Pawan! For sure, you will have a nice space travel with this beast. I own a C11 Starbight XLT (no edge hd, purchased in 2011) and considered the option of Hyperstar last year. Finaly, went for RASA 8. The price gap was only 500Euros more for the RASA. IMO going later for Hyperstar on your C8 Edge makes sense, the price is way lower. And man, it is incredibly fast ! A game changer. That said, sensor camera sensitivity in the futur may also become a game changer.
Thanks a lot! Hyperstar is an option for future, when I get a good grip on processing narrowband. I have to switch to Mono camera first. For now I want to keep EdgeHD 8 for visual as well as imaging. I did consider RASA 8" but that is only for imaging.
Clear Skies!!
Great scope!! Enjoy!!
Thanks Luke 😊.
Congratulations sir... that's awesome 👍
Thank you Zahid.
A Christmas present Pawan, you Lucky Lucky Lad.
Vary envious of you today, can't wait for you too show your photos and opinion when it's all set up.
Vary Vary Coolioo.
Thanks Davey. You got to show them a lot of moon craters and sun spots to be eligible for such a gift ;).
Waiting for clear skies...it's already over 8 weeks of cloudy nights here in Toronto area ... :(
Congratulations!!! Nice unboxing video!
Thank you 🤗
Congratulations. 👍 🎉
Thank you 🤗
This looks great Pawan! Thanks for the initial impressions. :) Clear skies
Thanks a lot!
This is good stuff Pawan. Need some help -
want to setup anti-dew for Celestron Edge 8?
1. Is the Celestron dew shield still needed, if I setup the Celestron Dew Heater Ring?
2. If both are necessary i.e Dew shield and dew heater ring, will the dew shield sit securely on the tube? I am asking because the dew heater ring comes with strip attached on the rim, that holds the power sockets. I am not sure if that would hinder the shield securely sitting on it?
3. There are different tempareture regulators. One is the Celestron Dewheater power controller. But there are cheaper solutions like the svbony dewstrap power cable. Would anything work?
4. The regulation of power is imporant as I read; if we dont use the regulator, the standard 12v-3amp/5amp powers can cause optical aberrations / distortions in the images is what some have expressed. Any pointers on this please?
Thanks
Cool Set-up Man! Look forward to see what you do with it in galaxy Season!
Thanks Avanteesh. Hope to have some mercy from Mother Nature soon 🫠.
@@AstroCrescentDIY Well, The weather has Been Hazy hear! Not cloudy. I'm just waiting for it get clear!
You'll have fun with that, I do recommend the dew ring though very easy to fit & they work much better than a dew band.
Thanks. Waiting for some clear skies now...it's been almost 2 months of cloudy nights here in Southern Ontario :(
@@AstroCrescentDIY Always goes hand in hand with new astro gear I feel your pain
Thanks dear.
Congratulations on an awesome scope. I love mine :)
Thank you, James. I watched your Edge HD 8 video several times to understand the setup config. It was one that inspired me to buy this scope. It’s really a wonderful scope. Let’s see when we get clear skies here 🫠.
Love it thx
Thanks!! I’m glad you liked it. Cheers!!
great video pawan. i just bought an Edge 8. and 2600MM with zwo 2 inch EWF and optolong 3nm 2inches SHO and LRGB filters. I also have 0.7x reducer. and 174mm mini guidecamera.
need some help for guiding setup. i need clarifications for the following:
1) which OAG is better suited zwo OAG-L or Celestron OAG?
2) would the new camera 2600MC DUO work well for Edge 8?
Pls advise.
Congratulations on buying the EdgeHD 8! Its indeed a great scope.
Unfortunately, I can't advice on OAG, the ASI 2600MM or ASI2600MC Duo. I have no experience with any of these. But there are several nice videos on these products on UA-cam. Further, you may get help on cloudynights.com.
All the best and Clear Skies!
Nice video, glad for your super gift.
Thanks a lot! Waiting for some clear skies now...it's been over 8 weeks now :(
@@AstroCrescentDIY yes the skies, i know that feeling.. :(
Sir, We are waiting for your EDGE HD8 1st light photograhpy session. 🤩
Appreciate your interest. I’m also eagerly waiting for the first opportunity for imaging with the new scope. But we didn’t get any clear night for the last 10 weeks here in Toronto area ☹️. The one or two partially clear nights were freezing…
@@AstroCrescentDIY Sorry. I heard about whether in your place from my Daughter, living in Brampton. I hope you get clear nights soon. 😊
I notice you couldn't help smiling😊 all through the video. Enjoy
Cheers!!
Great scope, any reason you prefer this over Celestron 8” RASA?
Thanks Yogesh. RASA is too fast to handle 😉. More expensive and can’t be used for visual observation.
Congrats! Btw how much this whole setup cost?
Thanks! The cost of setup depends on what you are going to attach to the OTA, like the mount, power source, camera, filters and other accessories. It also depends on your location and applicable taxes. In US, the current price of the OTA is $1,600 as of writing this comment. Cheers!
Dear Sir, that you for this introduction. I have the same telescope but somehow I can't or I don't know how to connect my moon filter 1.25'' that I purchased for this telescope with the default diagonal and eye piece. Can you please explain it to me. Did I purchased the wrong size of filter? Thanks for your time and effort
Thanks for watching. The 1.25” filter is usually threaded directly at the bottom of the eyepiece on the side that goes inside the star diagonal. If you use a Barlow lens, you can thread it to the Barlow also. Most quality eyepieces and Barlow have threads for attaching filters. Just make sure that you buy “mounted” filters. Cheers!
2 x 290 = 580x, meningful magnification is 480x according to Celestron.
You are absolutely right! Thanks!!
Coming Up Next: Installing a Guide Scope on this Edge HD 8 and balancing on Celestron AVX Mount.

I have the GT-71 setup the same as you. I have a Celestron Evolution 8 inch SCT with all the ZWO gear the and a 533 with it as well but I have a OAG on the C8...its a pain to setup. I am going to setup the C8 with a guide scope...The OAG is problematic with the 533 due to the small sensor. What camera do you think you will use?. The C8 is a great scope for galaxies and even some nebula..it makes a huge difference on M16 and others too
Thanks Mike for the great advice. I am not personally in favour of OAG for 2 reasons:
1, I don't have money to buy, and
2. I'll have trouble balancing the scope on Dec axis. This again translates into more money if I have to buy a heavier mount like EQ6R-Pro,
For now, I will use my ASI533MC Pro and the existing W/O 50mm Guide Scope. I used that combination earlier on my C8 SCT, which I gave away. CS!
@@AstroCrescentDIY Yes I am going to change ouit my OAG for a guide scope. the reason is the sensor size I am sure. A 2600 or 1600 camera it maybe better but they are way too expensive for me. I love the 533 cameras. I have 2 of the MC pro and a 533 MM pro. Great value for the money
@@SimjetAU Great! ASI533MM Pro is next on my list 😊.
Please share the cost of scope, eye pieces and reducer. Thank you.
Hello Krishna,
Sorry, but it is a gift from my family...doesn't look nice to share these details.
But you can always check the prices online...that's no secret. Also, the price vary depending on where you are located. Thanks.
Can u make a video on back spacing
Sure. Very soon in a few days. Thanks.
Thanks
Hello, a question, please, is there a difference between c8 and c11?
Edeg 8 edeg11
Simple answer, unless you are asking for something specific. Edge 8 has 8” aperture and 2,032mm focal length whereas Edge 11 has 11” aperture and 2,800mm focal length. Both have F10 focal ratio.
I am in Germany, I mean the price is double, is the image double size?
@@سبحانخالقالكون-ش3ز I would suggest that you check out the specs of both scopes on Celestron’s website. Thanks.
hyperstar next :)
you wont use the 7mm EP
Thanks! I already have purchased the 0.7x Reducer and will install it in coming days.
Reg, Hyperstar, I will have to consider the additional costs... CS!
@@AstroCrescentDIY yer i have 3 x rasas but im looking to get an edge 8 this month, i have Oag ready how you finding it?
@@CDigata I am still waiting for favourable weather for the first light of this scope...hopefully the skies will clear up sometime later this month. Cheers!
