(As it should be) - Make it a tasteful love letter to Minecraft and its players. The story can be simple and still be great. You don't need an arbitary dumb villain like the Piglins to make it good. Tldr: Make it the Lego Movie, because that novie was amazing! (The first one at least, the second? Eh, not so much.)

I can smell the "It's right behind me isn't it" and the "At least it's not raining" from here

I have 2 problems with the trailer: 1. Everything looks green screened. The lighting and saturation between the actors and the set just doesn't match up 2. Its just too cringe. I dont know what they were thinking trying to make a weird sheep and llama making sounds funny, but it just comes off as toddler cocomellon humor. I know they gotta hit the kids demographic, but if you look at older disney movies, it is totally possible to engage both older viewers and younger viewers at the same time without being offputting to either.

The joke with the llama at the end feels like a relic of the early 2000's back when they were the meme animal (Emperor's New Groove, Napoleon Dynamite, Sims etc). The thing is that shit died over a decade ago, the axolotls would be much more relevant since they've been popular over the last few years.

I’m tired of video game movies just becoming isekais. It’s like they have no idea how to explain the universe of the game without having some characters who are new and oblivious to the world just like the audience, so when things get explained to the main character just to explain things as directly as possible to the audience it fits with the plot. I think it’s lazy. How about make a movie about the universe with characters already IN the universe

And while the creator did use the name of a real life chid who was abused, he later admitted to regretting that decision. I've also found zero reference to any legal trouble from the family. The creator probably just chose the name Newmaker because it not only eludes to the themes of child abuse that are integral to Petscops story, it also eludes to the other main theme of the story rebirth/transformation (New-maker). That doesn't mean it wasn't a distasteful reference, but the creator seems to eventually realize it himself and he apologize on his own volition.

Kids are not stupid. And you can make a thoughtful movie which is also kid friendly, those things are not exclusive. Hell, another Jack Black movie is a peak example of this, Kung Fu Panda. But no. Here is your serving of slop instead, enjoy. Ugh.
The current director and writers were brought on board about ~2 years ago, around when they started production. They all worked together on a small handful of movies that never broke past a 50% Rotten Tomatoes rating. This movie was stuck in development hell for about 12 years. During this time it went through 4 different directors and ~8 different writers. One of the producers actually died during this whole period. God himself does not want this movie to be made.
"Making a video game movie is REALLY hard!" Except it isn't. Hire someone who knows the game same way you hire a writer whos read the book the film would be sourced off. Respect the source material and read up on the community on what would work as a film for the game. Hire a good cast for the characters and not just "le A teir actor cuz money!", hire people who played the game or are familiar with it to give a convinsing performance. THIS REALLY ISN'T HARD!! All they had to do was animate it like the story mode video game and it would have been fine its such an easy story to make hell I can write the script right now Sun rises on random Minecraft character in small town/village, under the village is a secret strong hold with ender portal, group of miners find stronghold and explore they find unfinished portal and a jewel they slot the jewel in the portal then it opens then a dragon bursts through the portal through the ground destroying the village while the main character is off somewhere, character comes back to a destroyed village with only a few survivors, the survivors team up and start gearing up to hunt the dragon they come across other destroyed villages and slowly build up an army to destroy the dragon, they army gravely wounds the dragon but it gets away and flys back through the portal the army argues about whether they should bury the portal or enter to destroy the dragon once and for all the party volunteers to destroy the dragon and they tell the army if they don’t come back at a certain time destroy the portal with tnt, the party enters the portal and the final boss fight starts with the healing towers and everything the party fights hard to destroy the crystals the last crystal is behind an iron cage the best archer with his last arrow jumps on the dragon to make the last shot at the crystal he destroys the crystal but falls off into the void the rest of the party attacks the dragon in its weakened state and defeat it the portal appears and the party says their final goodbyes to their fallen friend before jumping through the portal, the army destroys the portal with tnt story over Like or dislike if you would watch that movie

Sun rises on random Minecraft character in small town/village, under the village is a secret strong hold with ender portal, group of miners find stronghold and explore they find unfinished portal and a jewel they slot the jewel in the portal then it opens then a dragon bursts through the portal through the ground destroying the village while the main character is off somewhere, character comes back to a destroyed village with only a few survivors, the survivors team up and start gearing up to hunt the dragon they come across other destroyed villages and slowly build up an army to destroy the dragon, they army gravely wounds the dragon but it gets away and flys back through the portal the army argues about whether they should bury the portal or enter to destroy the dragon once and for all the party volunteers to destroy the dragon and they tell the army if they don’t come back at a certain time destroy the portal with tnt, the party enters the portal and the final boss fight starts with the healing towers and everything the party fights hard to destroy the crystals the last crystal is behind an iron cage the best archer with his last arrow jumps on the dragon to make the last shot at the crystal he destroys the crystal but falls off into the void the rest of the party attacks the dragon in its weakened state and defeat it the portal appears and the party says their final goodbyes to their fallen friend before jumping through the portal, the army destroys the portal with tnt story over
