Bruh, I was given a flashdrive in middle school with a copy of Minecraft Beta that I would play on the computers at my public school library.
I remember how it felt when the full 1.0.0 version was released, but I held on to my beta flash drive for so long, imagining how amazing the complete game would be to play one day

Adorable memory! 😁 I held onto a lot of my old worlds for so many years. Somehow the data got corrupted though at a certain point so I lost it... but it's funny! I still remember what my first world looked like to this day. Thanks so much for watching btw! 😊

@@Dutchess5 heya! I was trying to reply to your message on the other video, but it's not showing up as far as I can tell. This might end up being my fourth attempt at a response. More cringe, I'm so sorry 🤣
All that said, I was able to send you a discord friend request. I really hope those other replies are deleted and not waiting to bombard your notifications 😵

When you mentioned herobrine it reminded me of all the video game creepypastas I used to watch in the early 2010s. Good times

Minecraft was once a game that i had invested weeks into purely for creative mode. And to a certain extent i think i can still jump in and have fun. Difference between then and now is i created crazy worlds with my buddies weeks on end to months on end. Now its turned into a game i hop on maybe once or twice a year for a week or maybe less.
With all the updates microsoft has put into the game, it feels ive still done it all and nothing really needs accomplished.
Tbf though, creative is my mode of choice. I only sometimes pop into survival when friends ask me or after weve created a world magnificent in magnitude that we think deserves a survival run after.
    We weird like that 😂

Hey whatever works for you and your friends is what matters at the end of the day. :) Minecraft is a very versatile game in that way. But yeah, you're totally right. There's not really much else to do in the game after all the time we've spent on it. Thanks for watching the video! I really appreciate it. :)

I've never played Minecraft, mostly because I've never been all that good at making my own fun (Grand Theft Auto never captured my attention for a similar reason), but there's a lot of familiarity here. I went through a very similar thing with Fighters over the years; I used to love Street Fighter 2, and played it constantly, but once Super Street Fighter 2 came out, the oversaturation of the brand and the genre overall led me to walk away from it for quite a while. By the time I got back into it, my reentry point was Guilty Gear (specifically Judgment), and I had NO idea what I was even doing; I also tried BlazBlue, and even the intermediate level tutorials were more than I could handle, much less the actual game. Everything had just gotten too complicated, and it was only the hardcore fans of the genre that could keep up.
This is also why I prefer games that are released once and never updated: unlike those who prefer older versions of Minecraft, I have something to go back to. Street Fighter 2 is the same as it ever was, but a constantly-changing game like this gives no alternative for those who feel alienated or hadn't devoted their entire lives to keeping up with it. Sure, I imagine there's a bit of sterilization from decisions made by suits that don't really understand the appeal of what it is their company is selling, but whether you call it evolution or just change, you will eventually reach a point where the current form is unrecognizable, even if that point is reached at different times by different people.

When i stopped playing Minecraft in thr late 2010's Minecraft already lost its allure for many
    Then it came back

This video's quality was way higher than I expected from such a small channel, great work all around.

Old Minecraft has this distinct identity of nihilistic liberty that I never noticed until it was long gone. You were dropped in a world with no past and no future. There were no hints of civilization. There were no achievements. The only real progression was getting diamond gear.
It's a different game now. You feel like a conqueror now. Mansions, monuments, and bastions are challenges to be overcome. Villagers are a resource to be exploited. But you're right that Minecraft needed to change. In an alternate universe, Minecraft stops getting updated in 2011, and we'd be commiserating in 2024 about the wasted potential-not extolling its purity. I guess what I'm trying to say is I love what Minecraft is, and I love what Minecraft was, but these aren't the same love.

Minecraft has and will always hold a special place in my heart as well. I first played it on the Xbox 360, and at the time I had just been blessed with my first child.
My wife and I would take shifts caring for the baby. We would wake up at night to feed him, and then I would let her go back to sleep as I took him into the living room to rock him. He would lay on my chest, as I reclined in my chair and played Minecraft.
Now, my children and I still play Minecraft. It is a sandbox where we can all explore, create and adventure together and I am happy that it still exists so we can share the experience.
Thank you so much for this video!
I know how you feel. Our nostalgia for this game as it was, conflicts with the nature of a living changing community, hut it is ok to let it go. It is a bitter sweet thing, growing and changing, but it gives me hope to see that new generations have their own version of this amazing game to love.

Beautiful comment! You definitely get it. It isn't easy learning to let go of a game that has shaped our lives as much as Minecraft had done. But you're so right. Millions of people are still enjoying (and will one day) be able to enjoy the game just as much--if not more--than we did when it first came out. It is bittersweet, but it's just one of those things, I suppose. It must be a wonderful game to share with your family, that's really so sweet to hear. :) Thank you again, friend, for watching! You're the best! :D
