Phenomenal video. Just started it and I love that you didn't spoil anything. There's sooooo much to discover already in this game and I'm barely in
Great video! I would agree that Mario 64 had a major impact on 3D games. While the camera controls are definitely clunky by today's standards, they were advanced for the time when you look at other 3D games like Tomb Raider and Croc. The controls were more advanced as well. In most 3D games at the time you push forward to move forward and left or right to turn the character. Mario 64 changed the formula by having the character move in the direction you are pushing the controller in relation to the camera instead... i.e. if you push left, your character moves left rather than turning left. These controls allow for better controls in 3D action games. I'm glad you brought up the DS version, because I thought that version was absolutely fantastic with the extra stages and extra playable characters. Unfortunately, it seems like Nintendo has forgotten the DS version... as they only seem to bring back the N64 version. As for the music, Miyamoto has said that he's a big fan of bluegrass music... and likes to include it in his games when he can. That's why you hear bluegrass a lot when playing athletic stages or races.
I've never heard a UA-cam video like this start with "hi everyone." Hi back!! (I suppose)
You must not watch a lot of UA-cam videos then 😂
How are you under 1K subs?
I appreciate it, friend! 😊 I'm always happy with my current sub count, no matter what it is. I'm happy to be here with you all throughout my channel's journey, so anything that I get out of it is a nice extra! 😁 Thanks for taking the time to leave a comment!
The original was my first video game ever. And I got a new appreciation for it once I got around to playing the older 2D games and recognizing the almost seamless adaptation Nintendo bright the world to the third dimension. The sense of freedom it brings, not just in the ability to move in all directions but to choose and find out different ways to reach a goal, was what kept my buddies and I coming back to it.
Absolutely! It was that way with me when I experienced it in Super Mario 64 DS. 😁 It was easy to keep going back to the game over and over throughout the years because there was always something new and different to explore each time. As I got older and my motor skills/hand to eye coordination improved, I was able to progress more and more. It's a game that's up there on my top 10, that's for sure! Thank you for taking the time to leave a comment, I truly appreciate it! 😊
Spinning Bowser around was pretty fun to do. It does take a little getting used to. I don't really have much experience with Super Maior 64 DS. Anyone remember the Luigi or Yoshi on top of the castle rumor?
I definitely remember a rumour where you could triple jump onto Yoshi's back to ride him! Tried it for days...
Haha! I remember that rumor, too. I can't remember if I tried it for days like @Petrisha did but I do vaguely remember spending hours on it one day... 🤔
Oh the camera control was never good with this game. A the time it was great since it was the first time exploring a 3D world, but looking at an N64 controller, those camera buttons were not in an easy to use place. Another great video essay!
I’m glad you chimed in with your opinion! :D So the N64 controls weren’t much better, huh? It’s definitely a product of its time as innovative as it was. They had to start somewhere! Thanks for watching my video and for leaving a comment. I’m happy you enjoyed watching 😁
Best game ever!
Hands down the best!
This was an interesting one, because I cut my teeth on the NES and SEGA Master System, and 3D made me really apprehensive; I didn't see the appeal like everyone else seemed to, and didn't really care for 3D Action until Devil May Cry came along, though I was fine with the flood of 3D RPGs following in Final Fantasy 7's wake, because the combat was all menu-based. That said, I can't deny the feeling of dropping into Bob-omb Battlefield, and seeing that absolute PLAYGROUND sprawl out before me for the first time; your brain just kinda goes into overdrive, running around and screaming, "What's this? What's THIS? What's EVERYTHING!?" because of all the moving parts everywhere; it's so overwhelming, but in a good way. This hits just kept coming, too, at least until that snowy mountain area; can't say I was particularly fond of that one. Then again, the giant clock is one of my favorites, so what do I know? I feel like it's a game I need to revisit at some point and really reassess, though I've got about as games in my current backlog as this game has stars to collect before that's going to happen. Someday, right? In any case, I think part of the difference might be how Steph Sterling puts it: the distinction of playing a game and playing *with* a game. There is conquering every single star and putting Bowser down for good, and there is going in just to mess around and see what's possible within the boundaries of the world, and I feel that like the first Legend of Zelda, Mario 64 is better designed for the latter. Trying to beat your best time on that secret slide is a lot more fun than stressing out over whether you'll be fast enough to get that extra star, for example. Speaking of which, I'd thought that I was the only one to notice the music there sounded a lot like the horse minigame music in Ocarina of Time, though to me (and maybe that's the synaesthesia talking), they sound like an anxiety attack in musical form. Funny story about this game's music and its influence, though: I had to call... I think it was a nursing home, but it might've been an insurance company. As expected, I was put on hold, and the music was unusually soothing. It was a little while before it started sounding familiar, and then, my brain just stood at attention. "No... they didn- THEY DID!" No lie: the hold music for this place was Jolly Roger Bay. Whoever was running the place clearly had some fond memories swimming around that pirate ship!
That's interesting! I always hear about how adding the 3D element to games was a "game changer" (ba dum pish!) for a lot of people, but I rarely ever hear about the people who were apprehensive about it. Were there a ton of other people who were against it too, back then? 🤔 I'm glad you noticed the similarity between the horse music from Ocarina of Time and Mario 64, too! It's funny how similar they are when comparing it, but it also makes sense considering both of those games were composed by the same person, right? Koji Kondo? And it's not just you, I got panicky while listening to the horse minigame music, too. Like there was this really surreal experience that I went through once while listening to that track... I had it playing lightly in the background while doing some homework one day back in high school, and when the track finished, I turned the music off and was sitting in silence for a bit. However, I could still hear the song playing in the background even though I was not thinking at all about it, so it couldn't had been an ear worm or anything. The music wasn't even playing on my computer anymore, like I said. I got the panic attack of a lifetime, that's for sure. I don't know how to explain that experience in a way that makes sense, to be honest. I started laughing when I got up to the hold music part of your comment! 😂 That's absolutely incredible, I wish every company had video game music playing while you're on hold! It would make the wait a lot more pleasant instead of the 20 second "inspirational copyright free" loops that they almost all currently use... Thanks again for taking the time to leave a comment! 😁
@@Dutchess5 No, it's always been kind of a rare sentiment; 3D was blowing people's minds back then, but to me, it looked like a 3-year-old's origami project, and before actually putting my hands on Mario 64, I'd assumed that it played about as well... turns out that was hit-or-miss. Mario 64 played alright; what threw me more was some of the stunts I had to pull to grab some of the stars, or at least, that's how I remember it. Ocarina of Time, on the other hand, was the game that turned an absolute Zelda freak away from the franchise for a long time; Wind Waker is my favorite, but my top 5 in descending order from that are Adventure of Link, A Link Between Worlds, A Link to the Past, and Oracle of Seasons: all 2D games. I did eventually warm up to 3D overall when I finally played Devil May Cry and the zillion imitators that followed, but that game was a revolution in and of itself. But yes, if you look back at reviews from that time period, you'll see magazines practically worshiping Castlevania 64, and absolutely trashing Symphony of the Night, because it looked "so ugly and flat". Pretty crazy to think about now, but I feel it's a pretty big part of what killed the Saturn; back in its day, the Saturn was an absolute joke, because it was a 2D powerhouse (something I found out entirely too late), but wasn't all that good at 3D. That would be Koji Kondo, yes; I'm not as sure about Mario, but unless you count the Game Boy games, Koji Kondo was the sole composer for Zelda until Wind Waker, where Kenta Nagata composed all of the nautical-sounding stuff, which - let's be honest - is most of the game's non-legacy tunes. Glad it's not just me; I always think of that comic strip that says, "Spice up your anxiety attacks with a harmonica!" I think I get you, though; there's the music you hear inside of your head and the music you hear outside of your head, and even when it's the same song, there's a different sound to it. The volume's a bit lower on the internal one, but there's something else to it that's hard to describe. Kind of like how you can stand a pencil up in front of your face, but you can look... around it? ...through it? ...but you know it's still there. But sometimes, you hear something in your head, but it sounds external, and it's frightening; I sometimes get that with people shouting my name in a dream just as I'm waking up, so I'm awake, but my... I guess you'd say ears are still in the dream, because I'm still in a state of transition. Right? I'd put most of the Anodyne 2 soundtrack up against that weird 15-second loop that sounds like Dick Tracy dancing the Charleston in a back alley with low lighting any day! ...I spend entirely too much of my work life on hold with doctors' offices... You could even make a pretty decent playlist for classy dinner parties and the like, and unless your guests are classical music afficionados (or video game composer nerds like me), they wouldn't be able to tell that they're listening to the underground music from Final Fantasy 4 or whatever. You could even sound all fancy, like, "Ah, yes, this is from one of Nobuo Uematsu's finest works!"
One thing I always found hilarious about that secret level music is how it always seemed those levels got more vast in scale and seemingly more harrowing in design. It was already ridiculous that Mario was being placed into these crazy-tall obstacle courses with impossibly high drops, but something about that Bluegrass music chugging along while the camera stops following Mario careening to his demise from a fall and with a distant wail always struck me as so funny, even as a kid... 😂 I always loved how Mario just starts to wail in those falls and then the levels cuts him off as he's flung back into the Castle. It was pop culture's first perfectly-cut scream! I give no judgments for having grown up with 64 DS over the regular 64 - both are fine games in their own way! I think it's safe to say that if we had Mario 64's control scheme but with the extra content of DS, we'd all be more than happy with that final product. I did always love the levels in 64 though! I don't know if it could be explained through just one quality; maybe it was just the level themes and settings, or how varied the star challenges could get? I'm sure some of it is nostalgia too! What I always liked about Mario 64 - that others usually critique - is how you collect one star in a level before being booted out. I think a lot of people take for granted how much this streamlined the game at the time! In an era where full, camera-controlled 3D platforming was brand-new, it was so helpful to be told an objective, go to it, and then be spit back out only to return to that level for the next objective. I think it made for a gameplay loop that made it easy to translate Mario into 3D - the Stars weren't "collectibles" because "collect-a-thon" wasn't a thing yet. The stars were effectively 3D Mario's flagpoles! Great overview, and loved hearing the childhood perspectives! All the makings of a perfect childhood gem - getting stuck on the final boss, being scared by the music, replaying the early easy levels ad nauseum, getting help from a let's play online - love it!
Yes, I totally get where you're coming from! It's a strange and jarring juxtaposition. Having to race through a dark void with a floating platform while a country bop is playing in the background. Mario's wailing definitely made my brother and I laugh for ages, too. I remember rough housing with my brothers one day and while we were jumping off and on our beds, we kept doing the Mario scream each time 😂 Its funny how little moments like that end up sticking in our memories, don't you think? Oooo! I never thought of it that way, but you're right. Gathering each star was like the flagpole equivalent of those earlier games. Although I had no clue people criticized that aspect of the game. It never bothered me in the least, and it gave me an incentive to re-explore areas I have already been to in the hopes of finding something new. Thanks again for the wonderful comment, Will! 😁 I'll never get tired of saying it, but its always a joy reading them!
Sometimes if I'm drop precious / expensive crop or item, I just reset the day
I am so tempted to do that sometimes! 😂 Normally I would, but I want to keep this playthrough as organic as possible, even if it means dealing with my in game mistakes.
i used to play this and the other one where lily goes and sees wild horses and figures out whats wrong with them. I wish they got more of an updated version of this to pc and with how new graphics look like now a days this game would be stunning!!!
I would love that, honestly! 🥰 I know a few of these types of games are still on Steam but like you said they aren't updated or anything. So I don't even think they'll run well since it wasn't made with newer computers in mind. Thanks for taking the time to watch and for leaving a comment! 😊💕
The only modern pokemon game I bought and had fun with was The Legend of Arceus. The rest of what Gamefreak has been producing (from Gen 8 to the present) is a spec of dirt in my eyes. I just learned about people making their own games for the GBA up until this day and I'm blown away by their dedication and passion for these forms of art. Really thankful for these passionate creators of pokemon fan games because Gamefreak could never.
I am deeply confused by the penetration of the ideal of protecting big-corporate IP in a society that so constantly criticises capitalism. It doesn’t make any sense at all
Loved your take. Subbed.
Awesome, thank you! :) Welcome aboard, friend!
Welp sometimes the community makes better games then the real company
lmao nice mousepad :) (the zoro one)
Haha thank! XD I knew One Piece fans like yourself would appreciate it :)
Not really my kind of thing, but it's definitely a cute game with beautiful graphics. I noticed it's a PC and PS5 game. It looks like Epic is claiming it will be released on their store... but I've seen no news from Steam. If Epic lured them into an exclusivity deal... that might not go well for them. Many Steam gamers seem to hold a grudge against games that start as Epic exclusives.
All the guys I know keep telling me it's not their kind of thing! XD The visuals are definitely enchanting, and I've been obsessed with the photo mode because of it. This game is really trying to innovate, though, so I'm looking forward to it's official release and seeing what future updates will bring. :) And yeah, doesn't look like it's gonna be on Steam! When I downloaded the closed beta, it was on a seperate launcher, so I don't even know if it's going to be on Epic, either... We'll see! But that's a good question I should probably figure out the answer to! :D Thanks for watching this video, too, even though this isn't your type of game! 😊
@Dutchess5 Well, to be fair, it's the heavy focus on dress-up that doesn't seem interesting to me. I mean, I looked forward to getting scale brigade armor on Deep Rock Galactic, and put it on immediately after I earned it... even though it provides no stat bonuses. That said... once I put it on, I played for hours without thinking much more about my character's appearance. Other than that, the vibrant open world and exploration sounds interesting. So maybe I'll download it and give it a spin since it's free to play. Maybe it will surprise me. 🙂
I've played a LOT of GBA games... but I didn't play the Harvest Moon games. Looks like you had fun even though you had some frustrating moments. How did it go with Popuri? Did you manage to woo her? Or did your rival beat you to it? And yeah... I share your feeling about how Nintendo treats Christianity. I remember one of your previous videos mentioning that the Zelda series originally contained Christianity. Unfortunately, we live in a time where they're trying to take that out of everything. =(
Haha! It's a secret! 🤫 You're just going to have to wait for the next video where I go over what happens in the summer season... I will say that Popuri's rival did arrive and darn, the guy is a real pain in the butt XD His first appearance cutscene definitely brought on the pressure for me LOL. It is a shame, really. :( Christianity is always the religion that gets thrown to the backside, when it really does add a lot of depth to games when the moral beliefs are implemented into the thematic elements of a game. I guess you could argue that one example is DOOM, where you're literally killing demons. XD I think the creator of DOOM is a Christian too, if I'm not mistaken? Sorry for the late replies on these comments btw! Midterms has been making quick work of me lately, and I've been too stressed and swamped with homework to do much of anything else. It really cheered me up seeing your comment, so thank you for taking the time to write them! :)
@@Dutchess5 I'll look forward to your next video, then! Are you talking about John Romero? Unfortunately, I think he said he was an atheist on Twitter several years ago. I hope I'm wrong... or that he sees things differently now. Please don't apologize for late replies. I know how difficult college can be. I remember being swamped with work in college. I hope college is going well for you. It's good to take the time you need for your studies. You certainly don't need to reply to my comments, but I'm always happy to hear from you. 🙂
It's strange that I'm subscribed to you, yet your videos never show up in my feeds. I just found out that you had 3 new videos I haven't seen yet. When you first mentioned this game, I started getting "Legend of Mana" vibes. That was a game I never finished, but if my memory serves, you have some form of city building... classic JRPG... and action combat... all mixed into one game. Somewhat like this game. As much as I love the Mana games, Legend didn't appeal to me as much as the other games in the series that came before it. It was an "okay" game... and it looks like this one is just "okay" as well.
Huh, that's weird! Are you notified of my videos at all? Probably just a glitch on UA-cam's end unless I'm shadow banned for whatever reason. XD Oh yeah, it definitely gives out Legend of Mana vibes, for sure! Like I mentioned in the video, this game is really trying it's best to be every other type of classic RPG game except for it's own. I think the developers could've done a lot better with this title, but maybe there were other factors at play that prevented them from making it better. Time constraint, maybe? I don't know! Thanks for taking the time to watch through my review though. :) It really means a lot!
@@Dutchess5 I've seen it happen with other channels as well. For some reason, UA-cam will show me updates for some channels but not for others. 🤷♂️ I'm glad to see you had some new videos. I also decided to give Minimap a try since you mentioned it. 🙂
Ok im a dude i was fully on board and i also expected a string framing like game portion but now im kinda on the fence still got fishing tho 🤔
Fishing makes every game better, ngl! XD
Definitely not my cup of tea, but that's quite alright! 😅 As someone who grew up almost exclusively around women, as well as several anime favorites being from the likes of Clamp, I can appreciate what Infinity Nikki is bringing to the table! The combat bit did throw me off a bit - this is not a game I expected to have any at all; seems completely superfluous when the focus clearly seems to be on the aesthetic, outfits and overall life sim vibes. I saw a glide system in the game too, so in Genshin-like fashion, I may have expected more of a scavenger hunt or platforming race focus if the game wanted to dabble more in action 😅 This isn't the first installment so I'm guessing the expectant playerbase is fine with how this game loop works, I suppose! Very pretty game - hopefully the performance issues are sorted because I can already imagine the photo and camera ideas players are getting wanting to set up plenty of outfits for fashion shows. I've played enough FF14 with its glamour system to know where this all goes, and the players will no doubt eat it up! Great preview! 😁
You know, I absolutely love making these types of videos because of the things I learn from comments like yours. :) I had no idea there was even a fashion system in FF14! I've avoided the game on purpose for quite a while since I have MMO burn out, but do you think it's worth checking out and trying? Yeah, the combat threw me off, too! I mean, I always knew it would be there but like... it feels *weird* with it being there. I think they definitely could've done better with how they implemented it, but like you said, there is a fanbase for the Nikki series already. So I'm guessing people are already estatic enough getting a gacha title for Nikki. :D And yeah! I'm having a lot of fun with the photo mode, as you already know. 😂 Definitely will be my go-to photography itch game once it's out, that's for sure! Thanks so much for leaving a comment! :D Always a joy reading through them. :)
I love the universal HM experience of dropping an item and just standing motionless for a couple of seconds, contemplating your (usually expensive) mistake XD This was my first Harvest Moon and I got into the habit of bailing townspeople up during their walk cycles so I knew I was absolutely, DEFINITELY going to give them the item e.g. You see Popuri walking back and forth in the chicken store, stand in her way so she's walking into you. That will line her up nicely for gifting (and she won't get mad like they do in Stardew). If you haven't started Summer yet, I highly recommend giving Popuri the pink flowers you can find in the forest during summertime, they're one of her favourite items :)
You get it!! XD I felt like my life was flashing before my eyes at that very moment 🤣 Yeah, that's what I started doing about halfway through Spring. I realized that I needed to get in their way in order to make sure they don't reject my gifts LOL. It's pretty easy to fall into the trap of thinking that this game plays out exactly like Stardew. Though they're both very similar games, there's a lot of small differences that do add up and end up making a big difference. I have not started summer yet! Thank you for the great tip! :) You don't see it in the video, but I tried giving her the blue flowers from the forest before and she hated those. XD So I thought flowers were off limit lol. I really feel the pressure when it comes to romancing Popuri, even though technically I have a fair bit of time left! Thank you for taking the time to leave a comment. :) It was really so nice of you, and it means the world to me!
@@Dutchess5 You're very welcome! I look forward to the next video about Harvest Moon :) If you're not sure if you've got the right flowers, just check the item name in your rucksack before you give them to Popuri :) The right flower is called "Pink Cat Grass", though I don't know which part is the "cat", lol :P You can find them in the forest and around the pond where the Goddess lives!
There's a lot I like here, but I'd really have to try a demo before I pick this up. Having a focus on fashion and femininity is something I'd love to see more of in games (I bought Soul Calibur 5 just to play dress-up, and probably spent more time in the character creator than in actual fights), and I applaud that; all too often, when we *do* get that, it's *just* that, and you don't have anything to really *do* with your creation. On the other hand, that gacha system... I know gacha's cool to hate, but personally, I don't even like relying on random drops to get that last item I'm missing, and with a gacha system, that kind of thing becomes a *focus*; I'd much rather find upgrades from exploring and/or buy them at a store. That all said, if this takes off, maybe we'll see more of this sort of thing; given that the different upgrades in 9 Years of Shadows were somewhat fashion-oriented, it's not impossible.
I had no clue that Soul Calibur 5 had a fashion/femininity aspect to it! Then again, I haven't ever tried a game in that series. Do you think 5 is a good starting point? Which would you say is your favorite! I totally agree with you, though. These types of "female-friendly" games tend to focus alone on that aspect without expanding much on anything else. However, I did not get that impression with Infinity Nikki. Is it perfect? No. But is it better than the typical 3rd party fashion makeover game from the DS era? Absolutely 🤣
@@Dutchess5 I suppose it's debatable as to whether it does, but I kinda *made* it have that; I don't think most people buy it for that. Most people will say that 5 is a huge downgrade from 4, but I picked up 4 after that, and it seemed like a pain to unlock everything. That and other than a casual play through of the first game (Soul Edge) in an arcade one time, I don't have any other experience with the franchise. I will say that the story mode in 5 is kind of bad, but if you're just looking to casually play through whatever the arcade mode is called, and play dress-up, it's good for that. I wish they'd have more options (you can't even paint their nails!), and 6 didn't seem to be better from what little time I spent looking into it. Oh, yes, I remember those; I haven't played any, but a composer I follow (Ian Stocker) put together a surprisingly good soundtrack for Imagine: Party Planner.
Well the game doesn't look like my cup of tea. However I might try it, if it gets a demo. Originally I thought it was PS5 only, but I see it is also coming to PC.
Haha! Yeah, it’s definitely not for everyone, so I do get that. :) I forgot to mention that it’s a free to play game! Whenever it comes out, you can just download it, give it a try and if it’s really not for you, just uninstall. No harm in trying at all! I thought it was PS5 only for the longest time, actually. Especially since all the trailers start with the PlayStation logo at the beginning 😂 Thanks for taking the time to leave a comment and for watching the video. 😊 You know I’m always grateful for it, friend!
This video has made me even more excited for this game!!!!!
The hype is definitely real!! 🥳🥰
Your experience with Harvest Moon was about the same as mine on my first playthrough lol. I tried Harvest Moon 64 when I was a kid, but definitely did not understand the mechanics. Give you credit for trying out the title. RIP Dinner ✌️
Hah! It makes me feel better to know that your first playthrough was just as chaotic. XD I guess that's just how these types of games roll lol. Did you ever play any other Harvest Moons after 64? :) Older games in general are always a bit more of a challenge to play through XD Not as much hand holding! RIP Dinner :( My poor chickie!
Ahh newcomer welcome to the club.🎉🎉🎉🎉 also just recently i play it again, and oh god time go fast in this game. Other than janky botton and short cut i still can enjoy it.
Haha! Yeah, time really zooms by in this game 🤣 I really don't mind, though. I find it refreshing almost, when a lot of games nowadays move very slowly. I like both types, though! It's just nice to get different styles at times 😊 Thanks for taking the time to leave a comment!
I’m sorry I have to tell you, but…… the FBI is probably watching you now.
I NEED an episode 2 it was great honestly
Aww thank you so much! 😊 I'm really so happy to hear you enjoyed watching the video. Comments like these mean so much to me. 🥹 I'll see what I can do about getting the next episode out as soon as I can!
@@Dutchess5 can't wait i'm subbing so i don't miss it 👍🏻
This comment made my day! ☺️ Thanks for leaving a sub! I hope I don’t disappoint with the next episode! 🤞
I really Love the Bokujo Monogatari series💖 I have so much to say😆 First we feel all the mishaps happenening throughout the game from accidentally throwing your items, accidentally missing to feed the animals, to always getting out of stock with feeds etc. We've all been there😆 When I played HM:FoMT the very first run was also chaotic, there was no guide about almost 70% of the things in the game, I never new about letting the Harv Sprites to rest, petting the animals, even talking to townsfolks I never knew they had affection ratings too the most part I hated was when I was on Year 3rd of Fall and was on weeks of progress, I read about a faq posted on gamefaqs regarding on cliff being 'permanently going out of town' and I was like who is cliff? I never knew much more about him on my first run because I Never talked with the townspeople, and yeah He was gone for like 3 whole years and I never even noticed😆. Such a bummer so sad the community was like so depressed for him so I made the hard choice and restarted the whole game just for our sad brother. You need to keep cliff! go to doug please Im Begging don't let him run off, he has his reasons and it's really depressing why he is like that😭 Additionally I Wanna add that those colored grass is actually a good source of income on the very first year and also good for crafting the turbojolt and i forgot the name but responsible for fatigues and stamina, on the description of the item it says what its purpose either for fatigues and stamina keep it for later materials it's good when you do a mine run. I also married Popuri she is just cute and love to spoil her😆, if you're going for her, well You can just give her the spa boiled egg everyday, and in summer give her those pink cat flowers growing on the mountains, and get the kitchen ASAP, she loves omellete and the other egg based foods. Bit of tips; Fishing is also one of the best ways to get money, I've maxed it immediately and went to mystril for better fishes, and always get the power berries first for more stamina, always watch the TV before heading out for weather, cooking recipes and at times there is the fishing channel even dramas, the Online Market every saturday which you can buy if you have a telephone if not you can go to the bar they let you use theirs, get brush and those equipments for barn animals, as barn animals is the best source of income at winters aside from fishing post game, get the maker machines and it will give you more profits like if you turn a large milk into Large cheese. Let the sprites rest too I heard it affects their affection but They need to work on specific jobs too to do better jobs like watching over barn animals, harvesting, and watering plants, etc. Keep watch on the townspeople I heard they sometimes get grumpy, it happened to me once with Gotz the carpenter, he doesn't want to talk to me, upgrade stuffs etc. Mf straight up ignores me cold AF😆 I've been talking too much lately since It's been so long and so rare to find gamers who play retro games Huhuhu I'm so GLADDDD! KEEP IT UP PLEASE! I might have told so much but if you want more tips you can visit the GameFaqs.com and search For HM:FoMT, there are several walkthroughs of proffesional tips gamers posted like 15 years ago and more, some are still being updated to now. And I've heard you mentioned natsume was step ahead, oum actually as I understand natsume actually is not the one who developed harvest moon series, they're notorius for their manners making their own Name Larger than the Devs of the games they work on thus making it look they developed it became known, you can see real devs name on the title screen it's on very small fonts, natsume is only responsible for translations and distribution of games outside japan, sadly since they own the name Harvest moon, the real developer of the series Victor Interactive (Now Under Marvelous) needs to rename the game outside japan for releases, cause it's like Marvelous broke off natsume also having legal claims with the game but not the Title, and the games under harvest moon after the HM: The New Beginning are games under natsume most of them are just so ugly even critics gave them low score showing that all these years Natsume relied too much on Victor and Marvelous, Natsume does do some good game releases nowadays under harvest moon, not tried yet they're expensive😆 people are saying that natsume is just ripping the Title Harvest Moon for more money and tainting the title, but no worries The real devs is still there, they just renamed the game from the Jap Title Bokujo Monogatari to The Now Called Story Of Seasons they are the continuation of the series after the 3ds game, just sharing this if you didn't know✌🏻 Rune Fatory: A Fantasy Harvest Moon series is too Still Alive even without natsume hope you tried it out too! Man I really talked so much, So much relieving to just yap my brain at times, since at my country my place is not really into Console Games, Only handful of peoples🥲 And PLEASE KEEEP UP THE GOOD WORK HUHUHU LET RETRO GAMES AND CONSOLE GAMES THRIVE PLEASE POST MORE HOPEFULLY WE CAN REVIVE AND EVEN BRING MORE AND MORE PEOPLE INTO THISSSSSSS ಥ_ಥ! Im subbing ASAP
Oh my goodness, these are all such fantastic tips! 😍 Thanks for taking the time to go over all this with me. Turns out there's a lot more to this game than meets the eye, that's for sure! 🤣 I just hope I remember all this good advice once I start playing through the summer! I'm also really happy to hear that you've found this video to be really relatable to you. 😊 No need to worry about talking a lot! It's a joy to see your passion. 😁 I totally get how you feel. I grew up in an environment that never really cared much for video games and it took some time before I found friends who shared my love for retro gaming. Here's hoping the awareness of retro games continue to grow, just like you said! Thanks for taking the time to leave a sub 😊 It really means so much to me, you have no idea. Have a fantastic day, friend! :)
Do you have a plan to play the remake? It's just as good as the original one
I wouldn't mind it, honestly! I remember I tried playing the remake at one point last year but I wasn't really in the farming sim mode at that time, and never made it past day 2 😂 I would love to try it again at some point, though! Especially since I'm really having a ton of fun with the original 😁
How do you not have more views and subscribers? I feel like im here early before your channel takes off
So kind of you to say! 😊 I'm just glad that my videos are reaching an audience of people, no matter how big or small that might be. I'm happy enough making content that I know you're enjoying. Anything extra I get out of it is a plus, but I'm happy with where I currently am, or what may come in the future! Thanks for taking the time to leave a comment. It means the world to me 😊🥹
There is a Girl's version of this game with loads of extra features you might want to try (Me and my sister played the respective versions and I was appalled how much new stuff was in the Girl's version, but I don't want to date the guys so I stuck with FoMT), the other version is "More Friends of Mineral Town". Edit: Oh you already knew, I commented at the very start of the video xD
Haha! 😂 No worries, you're good! I wouldn't be opposed to trying out the girl's version though! Would be a nice thing to make a mini series out of, too 😁 We'll see! It's definitely in my pool of ideas
Love this vid haha remembered me of my action as a little child when I first was introduced to this game haha
Haha! Glad my video brought up some good memories for you 😊 I'm jealous you got to grow up with this game! 😁 Thanks for taking the time to leave a comment, it really means so much!
8:52 yeah that's a cannon event for every harvest moon player, we've all been there
It's such a demoralizing moment! 🤣 I've never felt so rejected by a video game character before in my life lol. Thanks for taking the time to leave a comment! 😊 Really appreciate it, friend
I still have no idea how to get that custom firmware stuff working.
I'll sub because I randomly found your video and nostalgia gushed in and made me teary eye. I would love to watch your series even with my busy schedule. Keep up the good work!
Aww! Thank you so much for taking the time to leave a comment. Reading this has honestly made my day, and I'm not just saying that either. :) Nostalgia is a very powerful and beautiful feeling, and I'm glad that my video brought back a lot of wonderful memories for you. I hope this series continues to do just that, where we both can have fun with a fantastically underrated gem of a game. Thank you for subbing, it means the world to me! :)
The only Harvest Moon game I put significant time into was the first one, mostly because it has a simple goal and a clear ending. Well, that and it was so unique for its time that nobody knew what to call it; Nintendo Power billed it as a farming RPG, and between how strange that was and the charming screenshots that had reminded me of some alternate-universe Earthbound, I had to check it out. It's a lot more simplistic, so you don't have to worry about a lot of the stuff you see here; the clock stops at 6pm, so you can hypothetically gather enough wood to build both house upgrades in a single night, not to mention that all you need to do to get animal feed is cut the grass. Also, Dinner is a great name for a chicken; reminds me of how Kiryu names his pet chicken Nugget in Yakuza Zero. There's one that the English translation of Yakuza 7 calls Omelette, but to my Western ear, the voice actors sound like they're saying Kokikoko, which I'd guess is an onomatopoeia, so it'd be like Bukky the chicken or something like that.
It's fascinating how the first Harvest Moon set the stage for so many farming RPGs/sims to come! The simplicity really does make it a memorable experience. So let me just confirm, the clock stops at 6 P.M and there's no time limit to make it to bed? So the day just keeps going on and on? XD That honestly sounds like such a fun speed-running opportunity! And haha! I'm glad you liked the name for the chicken. I honestly felt bad for going with a name that sounded so unoriginal but hearing about Nugget in Yazuka made me feel better, for sure! And the worst part was that I couldn't even have Dinner for dinner... I just realized that! XD Thanks so much for leaving a comment, my friend. :)
@@Dutchess5 There is no time limit for getting to bed... asterisk. The caveat is that once you're married, your wife wants you home by 5pm, though I'm not entirely sure what, if anything, the consequences are for coming home late. I do know that she's got eyes everywhere, though, because I accidentally threw a bush at some other girl, and that counted as cheating on her? She wouldn't give me a second child after that, and it took me a long time to figure out what had even caused it. But yes, if you really wanted to, you could chop stumps forever on the second night (the first day is a tutorial that doesn't let you do much), and plow your entire field looking for those hidden power berries; if you're into the speedrunning thing, you could probably get the best ending pretty quickly (there's a button combination that lets you check what ending you'll get just about any time), and run out the clock, just waking up and going right to bed once you have enough money.
It still slays me to see that honey toss and the throwing away of the spa-boiled egg... 😂Awesome video! I'm glad something as simple as me documenting my time in written form could create inspiration for someone else!
It absolutely did! Thanks so much for taking the time to write up those Harvest Goddess articles and for introducing me to a fantastic title 😊 I'm still crying from those item toss moments! 😭🤣
I remember my first time playing Harvest Moon, the game have a learning curve them, especially the older ones.
They definitely do! It's a fun challenge, though, and I loved being able to share the adventure with you in the video 😁 Thanks for taking the time to leave a comment, friend!
@@Dutchess5 No problem, I prefer the Rune Factory series, as they have more combat and action to them.
That's a video idea that's been in my head, actually! 😁 I haven't had a ton of time to explore the Rune Factory series besides a few hours here and there in the 4th game, but when I do get a chance, I'm definitely making a video on it!
@@Dutchess5 I'll look forward to that video when the time comes. They're fun games.
Ocarina of Time has some creepy things to it, and it still got an E rating (Of course it was back in the day). Still an awesome game!
Ikr?! You would think with some of the stuff in that game, it'll get an E10 rating but nope... things were super different back then when it came to ratings, I guess 😂 An absolute masterpiece!
iPad Pro M4 (or even M1 iPads for that matter):
For sure!
I don't have a tablet. I do, however, have a Steam Deck. The Steam Deck has completely blown me away! I now do almost all of my gaming on the Steam Deck. So long as I always have access to a device like this, I'll probably never buy a gaming PC or console again... and this is coming from someone who bought EVERY Nintendo console released in the USA (yes, including the Virtual Boy) and have been collecting consoles and gaming computers since the days of Atari 2600. The Steam Deck ended that for me. And emulation? Wow! I have tons of emulated games on my Deck... and I've even managed to successfully emulate a couple of Switch games (although a bit slow in places). So yeah... I'm into a different system for mobile gaming... but I'm with you on this. Gaming on the go is going places for sure! 👍
That's awesome to hear that you've been enjoying your Steam Deck! If you don't mind me asking, which Steam Deck do you have? If I'm remembering right, didn't they release an OLED version like a little while back? :) I totally get where you're coming from, though. Steam Deck is amazing for a lot of things. I don't know if I would want it to replace my ongoing physical collection, but darn! Your collection was pretty huge, huh? XD Mobile gaming is definitely going places!
@@Dutchess5 I have the version before the OLED was released. I have a 512GB model and use a 512GB SD card for more space (and for emulation). I pre-ordered mine and was on the waiting list for a long time... so it's one of the first models. I don't see spending extra money for an OLED upgrade when I have this one. This thing is pretty cool. It boots into gaming mode... which looks like big screen mode in Steam. But you can switch to desktop mode which boots into a Linux desktop. From there, you can hook a mouse and keyboard to it and use it like a PC. Yes. I've accumulated a fairly large Steam library over the years. While not all of the games work on the Steam Deck... we're at the point now where it feels like more of them work than don't. As for the ones that don't work, they can usually be made to work with a little tinkering.
i have an s8 ultra and i hate it and im selling it after using it for months . feels like a cheap device running android os at least not a £1000+ product . everything you do is in lowered res because its running android all apps icons and using any apps your going to be affected by this the most obvious one you can quickly see is like the play store icon looks like a 720p jpeg . the tablet has such a bad antireflective coating that in daylight it has worse black levels and viewing angles than an older ipad with lcd tech and the green tint caused by viewing the tablet at an angle is horrible also there is a pinkish hue on white colour again probably caused by the coating . the tablet uses a mobile processer whilst apple is on their 4th on laptop cpus in a ipad !!!! . tablet doesnt have adaptive refresh rate so either you lose battery asap or you be happy with 60hz at least newer version fix that issue . the display isnt as colour accurate as apple product i have a mac and had ipad pro compared displays and the tab s8 ultra is super warm its like using a ipad with true tone turned on permanently . brightness levels are pretty low . so much bloatware . the ipads are a much better buy. the only good things about s8 ultra . the s pen is better than apple pencil and the aspect ratio is better for watching videos . i will never ever buy a Samsung tablet again
