      great video!! Thanks! I'm totally non biased regarding what board I buy, and I am looking for the best board for the way I ride. I would consider myself an advanced rider, but I don't do much park. I need a board that is stiff enough that feels stable at fast speeds, but I still love doing butters and side hits ALL the time. I've been researching for weeks and this is one of the best videos I've seen. Do you know anything about the Jones mountain twin? If so, Which would you choose for buttering and stability at high speeds? Thanks!

      @@ChrisEyres If there's any Orcas left in Whistler by November, that would be the ultimate choice. I want something that's going to perform well in powder but won't suffer as an All Mountain board. Mervin boards really do seem like they're in a league of their own.

    I've got the stump ape 162. It is the Widest board I have ever ridden. you can carve so deep that your face will be inches away from the snow and you won't boot out. I am 6 ft 2" with size 12 feet 200 lbs. This is My all time favorite board. Turns super quick and lands EVERYTHING. super stable. So hyped on this board!

    It's refreshing to find knowledgeable sales guys. Well done! Maybe you can suggest a new board for me. Looking for a POW board. I currently ride a Jamie Lynn C2 and tend to prefer it to my TRS. Both are 156/157 and I"m 5'11" 170-180#'s, and an expert rider. Tried C3 as well and it's awesome when you're hard charging and really driving the board, but C2 is more stable and allows you to kick back and ride the board without constantly having to drive it. Riding a lot of powder and my boards just don't have the necessary float when it gets deep so I need to add a dedicated powder board to the quiver. Looking for directional, set back stance (probably), wider nose/narrower tail, but I haven't had the chance to try a short/fat pow board yet. What would you recommend? Possibilities I'm considering include the Orca, Mullair, Hovercraft, Storm Chaser and others.

    • @ChrisEyres
      @ChrisEyres  4 роки тому

      Good question. I have the storm chaser and love it in the trees but it really suffers on big mountain. We just rode down a volcano the other day and it was hard work. The orcas are great but my friends have had some issues with delamination. The mullair looks great though I've tried it, they also have an orca mullair called the funguy that you should check out. I've tried the hovercraft a couple times and really like it. Great for powder and carving, fast speeds. Would def give you the float your looking for

    • @ADAMJWAITE
      @ADAMJWAITE 4 роки тому

      @@ChrisEyres Thanks for the reply and the recommendation. As I understand it, the more traditional longer boards are better in the chop and hard charging, whereas the short/fat boards give more of a surfy, playful feel, and may be better in the trees. This makes me lean towards an Orca or Hovercraft, but I'll have to try a short/fat board to see how I like it. My buddy's got a Hovercraft and last time we were riding deep pow I had to struggle to stay afloat but it was a breeze for him. That's what finally made me decide I needed a pow board. He offered to let me try his and I should have taken him up on it so I'll do that. Being in W Washington, I'm confident if I had a problem with a Lib board they'd take care of it. I'd love to find an GNU Impossible to pick up as well. That board rocks!

    • @ChrisEyres
      @ChrisEyres  3 роки тому

      Not too much, does depend on the brand values etc. Burton's edge tech: Frostbite, was recently voted worst... But if you don't need it, then it doesn't matter. Conversely Lib Tech has the most aggressive, which most people like but some find too much. So I think it can depend on where you are riding

    Hi Andreas, i appreciate your videos. I got the Cold Brew last season as a total beginner with the Salomon District HPS bindings and a Salomon Hi Fi Boot. Could you maybe tell me what you think about this setup because I have the feeling it just does not go well together in the first place. Also i think it Is really targeted for freeriding rather than learning and the Cold Brew does not really like being on the slopes most of the time. It is stiff and hard to initiate turns on, i think. I got the feeling, the local store I went to, really just wanted to sell me the most expensive setup they had rather than giving me something according to my needs. Super frustrating ..Again, Thank you so much for these kinds of videos.

    I've been riding a banana for the last 5 years, in that time I have moved from a beginner to an intermediate, I am looking for something a bit more stable at speed but also still allow me the forgiveness of a rocker. It is really up to you. But get a wide board for sure. 14s are obviously pretty big but there a lot of great wide boards out there. for boots you really have to go into a store and try some on, don't just buy online. @@joseboardtista68 ohhhh, I'm prob not the best guy to ask, but out of these I would go for the cold brew. It's cheaper than most here and it got their c2 camber, so kinda forgiving, plus magna traction for any icy stuff he might encounter

    Hey Chris + Andreas, great video thanks for this. I ride a T. Rice Pro (2015) and have been riding 2008 Cartels on them (still!). I need some new bindings and mostly ride off piste/backcountry, trees, and groomers, and almost 0 park. Looking for something as or more responsive/aggressive as my old Cartels. So what should my new setup be for my TRP -- Malavitas? Genesis? Genesis X? Union Force? Union Falcor? Union Atlas? Rome Katana? Now Drive? Help!

    • @ChrisEyres
      @ChrisEyres  4 роки тому

      Bindings, my only weakness. Andreas and I both ride Now Drive, he has for the last few years and swears by then, hence why I (and Kevin) both have them. Andreas' riding sounds similar to yours, no park... They have that Skate Tech Technology to help turn, I think it kinda works but need to try some without to really get the feel cause I'm used to them. Hopefully Andreas sees this and can give you his two cents. Good luck

    Hey there
    My name is Pascal
    I'm 183cm and my weight is 87kg or 171 lbs
    I'm interested in buying a skunk ape
    I'm an all mountain rider but love the powder and riding fast on and off the track
    What could you tell me is a good size and board for me
    Is the skunk ape something to buy for me

    • @ChrisEyres
      @ChrisEyres  3 роки тому

      Hi, thanks for the message. The skunk ape is a good board but not my favorite. It is however a great option for people with wide feet. What is your foot size? I have had toe and heel drag before and it's a pain.

    i'm 5'6, 160lbs, should i get a 147 for the orca? or 153?

    • @ChrisEyres
      @ChrisEyres  5 років тому +1

      You could ride either. Travis Rice is about 200lbs and rode the 53, so you could def go for the 47 and it would be great. But if you are looking for extra float or the mountains you ride aren't very steep then maybe the 53 but I would lean towards 47. Hope this helps
