Thank you so much for your helpful video. My puppy corgi ate very fast, I follow your ways and let him ate with slow feeder bowl (the one I got from amazon www.amazon.com/PETDURO-Capacity-Non-Slip-Cleaning-Indigestion/dp/B07LDQNL5Z). And my corgi finally slows down his eating to 5 minutes. Thank you!
This makes me feel so much better! Ever since getting our puppy, I've heard nothing but "get them on a schedule! Feed them at the same time every day!" Aaaand I suck at following a strict schedule. Good to know that's okay.😊
@@jasonjrf I've been feeding my puppy twice a day, but rarely at the same times for six months now. She's just over a year old and well-behaved, doesn't whine for meals, and all around seems to be doing just fine. Though I will say now that I agree with you on feeding more than once a day.
I do intermittent fasting and I’ve never been healthier! Your advice makes total sense to me! It gives the digestive system a break and resets the liver and pancreas in humans, so why not dogs?
This is amazing I just started training while feeding my 8 week old puppy. She is learning so fast!!! I was so lost thank you so much you're a godsend!!!
I'm getting a puppy in the next few weeks and I must say, your videos have been a life saver! All the info I was looking for you have, I feel less stressed and more excited to get the puppers now that I know what to do, and what not to do. Thank you ♥️
Just found you and you make so much sense! My grown son is mentally ill and suicidal right now, so father and adopted an 8 week-old English Shepherd for him about a month and a half ago. Right now my son and the puppy are living with me, and I have a Maltese mix that was abused, but I’ve had him for two years now. Our lives are so disrupted by this new puppy because he’s not on a schedule, we don’t know where to put his cage, what food to give him, etc. I need to listen to you for my sanity! Thank you!
I truly appreciate your posts! I purchased a Malshi puppy two weeks ago at 11 weeks old. He arrived with all of his shots and deworming up until that . He is now 3 months old and I truly feel like a first time mom ( That was 39 years ago 😂). He arrived two weeks ago at about 3.8 pounds and after two weeks he is already weighing in at 5 pounds. I feed him three times daily with 1/4 cup of “Blue Buffalo puppy food 3 times a day. I of course don’t know exactly which genes he inherited since a Maltese is smaller than a Shih Tzu. I’m sure that your answer will probably be to take him to a Vet and I appreciate that. Just don’t want him to be overweight or unhealthy. He is extremely energetic throughout the day but as a puppy he still sleeps frequently. Sorry to ramble! I enjoy your posts. Deb ( and Bentley)
I agree with her on giving their bodys time to process their meals. I've gotten into intermittent facing in the recent months. I have a 6 month old german shepard/lab mix puppy. He and I both eat on a semi regular twice a day schedule. For example, today we ate at 5am and 5pm. Tomorrow we may eat at 7am and 7pm. I bounce around between 3a/p and 7a/p on the clock. No later than 8a/p. I give him plenty of water and regular bathroom breaks. I generally walk him 4 times a day. There's also a dog park close by where we puppy playdate often.
I've done keto for years with intermittent fasting, have taken breaks but didn't help me! This totally makes sense! Getting my puppy in a couple of weeks and will feed mostly a fresh diet! Thank you so much for all the common sense in your videos! I've raised many dogs but I could have used this wisdom but have it now! Retired NICU RN pug lover!
Please don't feed a puppy only once a day if you want to do that wait until they are at least 6 months realy 12 months then feed once a day ask multiple vets and pet nutritionist about this a lot of misinformation is on these UA-cam channels
I would love to try that! I feed my dogs a raw diet though, do you? Just wondering how I could go about it without getting the bacteria from raw food etc on my floors/carpet
@@iloveMAKEUPxD no, I feed her kibble. I was going to try raw diet after she's done eating puppy kibbles and she's more tolerant around food. I suggest getting a big box or a tray so that the kong only stays inside one area
I have had about 60 dogs over the years and never heard of hunger pukes. I prefer feeding twice a day because in theory I think maybe there is less danger of gastric torsion. I think that also dogs which live indoors are around us when we eat and seeing and smelling our food will also make theie gastric juices flow. I have just started home cooking for them thanks to you and they are stuck to me like superglue as I have been so busy cooking wonderful new things. It feels very fulfilling and I have been telling the whole world how small and unsmelly their poo is even after they had things like beans, cabbage and chick peas. They now have no wind either It just shows how much filler is in most commercial foods, even expensive ones.
I’m doing so much research right now, since I usually have my dogs’ food bowl full and my only problem is with that, she is doing her business indoors in one spot (on a dog pad) which my family won’t help me with since I’m only 12, and my parents won’t help me and threaten to kick the dog out, when they’re not helping at all. Also the time or how much you feed your dog will reflect on their pooping schedule which I’m trying to handle. So thank you so much with this. And I’ll try my hardest to keep this dog. 😊
I definitely feed my pets a few times per day, but the time definitely varies! That's because my schedule has changed so drastically over the years, my cats have never had meals at the same time consistently. I thought that made me a bad pet parent lol but now I feel validated! I've also fed my new puppy somewhat randomly but not on purpose! This is all so good to know!
Love your info.. I feed my Labrador every evening at the same time. My sister feeds her dog 3 times a day. I can tell the difference. My dog knows when dinner time is and won't be beg and bug me at all.. my sister's dog has no routine and hangs around expecting food all the time and she is looking well over weight. Thanks for posting the vid.
I feed my dog twice per day EXACTY at the same time and when I was not feeding him at time I was getting so stressed about that! Not anymore hihi I like what you say in this video! :) but my dog actually doesnt act weird or angry when I don’t feed him on time he is a really easy going always hungry lab 💕
Yesss I love this thankyou so much!!!! Everyone I know says I’m crazy for feeding my dog once around my schedule plus treats. I’ve been extremely insecure if what I’m doing is “normal” buuuttttt you’re soooo right !! 💜💜💜💜💜💜ughhh the relief !! And I’ve been googling what is correct ! Buuuut thankyou so much for paving the way after so much trial and tribulation.
I am so glad I found your channel, my husband and I have been doing one to two meals a day on keto for more than 3 years, I’m telling you that’s how I cured my constant hunger. I can only imagine the hunger pangs dogs are experiencing when they are begging for food is similar to that nature.
I like the idea of varying the times!! So they dont expect it at a certain time like clock work. Gives you flexibility too! We keep within the same hour window usually, but vary by day.
We feed our 5 month old mini dachshund puppy Answers Detailed raw 3x a day with a new bowl at every meal. The first meal is at the same time every day, but the 2nd and 3rd meal is depending on when she’s hungry. Sometimes the second one is at noon and sometimes it’s at 2pm.
Ashley Vaeth Clover eats 5.5oz a day. We buy four 64oz containers at a time. Thaw two and put in Pyrex dishes (32oz ones) and freeze to take out when needed. The four cartons last 6 weeks for $100. So approximately $67/mo.
Hi Rachel, I just adopted (3) three months old puppies. I'm over my head with them. I currently feed them dry food (pedigree). I would like to potty training them and start this one day feeding method
So what if I give my dog nutro dog food? I can’t afford raw meat so this is a better more expensive dry food. My black lab eats it and it works well. should she still only eat once a day?
Yes my dog paces around and becomes quite demanding at her mealtimes. Presently feeding twice a day; around the same times so we joke that she’s like Big Ben - that clock in England. 2:22 I’m excited to hear what you have to say about feeding her only once & at different times.
Brand new puppy mom. 11 week rescue lab retriever mix. She was transported via bus over 3 days , so she’s brand new to our house snd family and just had this epic car ride . She seems really thirsty , and last night I let her just drink, thought maybe they didn’t let her drink much driving. But she’s peeing tiny bits very often. My question is about water intake . Should I leave a bowl of water out? I’m using your proactive potty training method. Thanks
I do feed my pup twice a day the same time every day but I've been thinking of switching to three times a day cause I feel like she needs shorter times between meals... She's three and a half months old
I love this. I have a nine month old boxer. I feed him twice a day with kibble in water and then throughout the day I use fresh food for enrichment. I just started noticing him *waiting* for his food in the morning. In the evening I try to make it random time.
Hi! I have 2 Boston terriers. A male age 1yr 8 months named Tucker and a female 6 months named Elly. My husband and I feed them both twice daily. Once in the morning around 8 give or take 3 hours and evening around 5 or 6. We are cross country truck drivers and time zones and what is going on at the moment plays into when they get dinner, but for the most part and surprisingly we are able to keep it on schedule. We were feeding Elly 3 times a day around noon but quit recently. Tucker was just acting out and telling me he was hungry by whining and then going to his food bowl and scratching at it and moving it around the floor. We always know when he is hangry with us. Elly is more laid back and is just as happy as can been whenever we feed her. She doesn't whine or anything around dinner time. Tucker is our special pup. He's had all kinds of stomach issues in his short life. We have had him at the vet multiple times with no real resolution. He pukes. Often. And terrifyingly sometimes. He's done it since he was a pup. Sometimes once a day. Sometimes multiple times a day. Some times not for a week or two and sometimes two days in a row. Sometimes until it is just foam. The first vet visit said it was probably stomach acid and that we should give him a low dose human antacid every day for a month. All his test were normal. We gave him the pill and it seemed to help a little, but he still had episodes. Next visit was an emergency visit. Tucker always loves eating his food and he had become lathargic, didn't want to eat or drink all day and was throwing up. He was x-rayed and there was unknown pieces of something in his stomach. He stayed overnight with an IV drip for hydration. He hated it and so did we. He is known to eat everything off of the ground but we didn't see him eat anything. We can't figure out how to get him to quit and now Elly has started following big brother. Both Tucker and Elly were on a dehydrated diet until a month ago. They loved the food and we thought it was one of the best. It's from honest kitchen. But now since there is two of them, we have decided it is just a little too expensive and also harder to carry 3 boxes on the truck that doesn't last as long as we are on the road (2 months at a time). We switched to Rachel Ray puppy for Elly and Nutro adult for Tucker. We add water to them. We don't have the space for a raw dog food. We have taught them how to wait patiently until they are given permission to eat or ask them to "give paws". It's exciting for all of us. :) Since changing to a dry food, we've had one very bad episode with Tucker throwing up and only a couple others that weren't as bad. The bad one he puked until it was foam and at least 6 times. The others were only 2-3 times. He usually eats the puke after he does it unless it's continuous puking.. it's horrible. Do you have any advice/suggestions for us? I really enjoyed your video and wonder if this would help Tucker, but if we feed Elly more times a day, I don't want him to feel neglected. I really think he's a sensitive being. Thanks. 🐶
Jenna VanCour I personally think that after going through all that and then finally finding something that truly works for Tucker, stick with it! And if you feel that he gets upset while Elly gets an extra meal, give him a tiny bit of his normal food, or a couple treats and he should feel much better! That’s my thought at least, there still could be room for improvement in his diet but I’m not sure what that improvement would be
Ziggy SJ Great advice! Come to think about it, when Elly had lunch and Tucker didn't, he was fine when he got a little treat while she was eating. :) Maybe I'm the over sensitive dog mom. 😂 He's my baby and my first doggie.
Jenna VanCour you are obviously committed to your dogs and that makes my heart warm. We need more pet parents as passionate as you! I recommend to find a holistic vet to partner with. I think that would be a great start just to ensure all is well! I am also always a big fan of raw fresh food. I know that’s tough to so with travel but it is so dang healthy for dog
I feed my dog 2 two times a day. It's super random in the morning every day, and she gets fed again around 6-7pm in the evening. Sometimes my dog doesn't eat her breakfast in the morning and eats it in the afternoon, sometimes she doesn't eat it until evening. There are times where she doesn't feel like eating at all that day and will eat the next day, her food ends up sitting in the bowl all day.
It's the first time I heard all of these official and now I understand why my mother's dog is 22 years old now ..she fed it only once a day ... One day she will fed it early in the morning and the other day late at afternoon ... Thank you
My dog also only eats once or twice a day, twice if we did more physical activity (I.e long walks, working the farm, fetch, or his service work of retrieving, pulling, and pushing). The time is whenever it’s most convenient for me tbh. He gets unlimited water however cause he has to stay hydrated.
I am a first time mom of a toy poodle. Who is 21 weaks old. She has been with me since jan 1st, 2024. I am so glad i found u. This is all so new for me. And i have been learning so much from u. I give mine 3 melas a day. Breakfast at 7.30 to 7.45, dinner at 7 to 7.30pm and lunch varies from 2 pm to 3.30. I have noticed that lunch time she is much calmer and doesn't beg for food. But brekafsts and dinner time she geys supper hyper. Now i know why. Lunch, time she can never predict. But breakfast and dinner she knows. My vet told me yesterday to shift her to two meals and a snack at noon. I dont know how to do that... Plus i am planning to give her breakfast at 8ish or later, tomorrow after seeing this video. What shud i axpect her to do, what shud my reaction be and how long will it take for her to accept the time change. Wud u pls answer. It wud be grat help. Thanks. ❤ from SF
I’m getting a Maltese puppy tomorrow will be 2 months on the 18th of September. Can you fix the kibbles with some cooked food and how much should you mix with please
I have a 12 week old puppy {Saint Bernard Newfoundland mix} and an 8 year old Chihuahua. The puppy eats 3 times a day and Mrs. Piddles eats 1 a day and I do wash their food and water bowls a lot!!!!
I’m planning do get a puppy sometime next year and I absolutely LOVE your videos! (Binge watched the majority of them) I find them extremely helpful and informative. I also really like how it always feels like you are directly talking to your viewers, ! 💗
Hi!!! I have 3 dogs. One is a 3 yr old Border Collie who has no off switch and a very high metabolism. I need her to gain weight so I feed 2x a day. I feed Next Level kibble to all of them and want to add new things. The other two are a Beagle(6) and a mixed breed(5). They get a Phycox joint supplement and Ultra Oil with some Beef bone broth from Honest Kitchen. They all love berries and veggies. My question though....How much kibble should they each get with the added goodies?
my dog is a senior, and she only eats in the evenings no matter what time I put the food out. I love the video!! I was wondering about this for my puppy that I will be getting soon.
My puppy gets two meals and I have tried to do it on a schedule hoping I can better predict when he will need to poop so I am available to be home to let him outside. He also gets fresh or raw snacks usually twice a day. The bowl is washed after every use... (I'm a tad OCD)
I really enjoy your videos and appreciate your research. Would it be possible for you to include references for the information you provide? This would allow us to double-check the information and ensure that we are on the same page. Sometimes it can be overwhelming to receive a lot of information verbally, especially for neurodiverse individuals like myself. Having something to read and process on our own would be very helpful. Thank you!
I'm a huge fan of brandon's tv show so it wasn't surprising that his book ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxSw1k29V8f0aNwyGI6qRGYJc3E4Y4Eoxy is also excellent! With treats, my dog has learned most of the seven common commands (sit, stay, come, down, heel, off and no). Brandon's love for all animals is baked into every chapter of the book. If you have a puppy or an older dog, i would highly recommend reading every word of this book as it will be a source of pride for you and your dog.
How long should you leave the food down? Because my dogs have gotten used to openly feeding, sometimes I feel like they take food for granted and will take a long time throughout the day to eat. I think limiting their access to food as you're suggesting would really help correct that.
I used to not rlly like you but I started watching ur videos fully and now I LOVE YOU 🤣🤣🤣 you have such good points and I love that you don’t shout at people that don’t agree
I’m glad you made this video. My puppy eats primal primal raw foods. and I started feed him as instructed but I felt it wasn’t enough then he always seemed hungry so I started feeding him 3 times a day. The bag said twice daily. But I have been a slave to his schedule. I always get a lot from each of your videos.
Twice a day. It always made sense to me to be random, more to diminish the stress of expectation - thank you for your more informed perspective on randomness… 🤔 actually, we humans also started off as foragers. Schedules probably came with the advent of agriculture
I have a 14 yr old Doberman, I've had her for 8 years. I fill her food bowl when it's empty and she grazes. Always has. Ive tried to feed her once a day, but she still grazes lol
We have a 7 month old American Bully and we feed him 3 times a day (6am, noon, and 6pm). We want him to build muscle and have enough energy to burn during playtime in the field or our long hikes in the woods across from our house.
Thank you so much for opening our eyes (once again) to this. We have a 1yo shih tzu we make food for and eats twice a day at the same time. I totally know what you mean about them knowing it’s feeding time, cuz she gets snippy when it’s almost time. Looking forward to doing the random times...will still do the 2 meals, just til she turns 18-months. Then will switch to once a day. She does throw up sometimes, but not sure if it’s the hunger kind cuz you mentioned it’s greenish...? Her vomits are usually tinged with the color of the food we give her. Not sure why she throws up occasionally... She’s due to see her holistic vet (thanks again!) in a few months, so we can inquire then. Otherwise, we’re not too bothered by it. Aside from having to wash sheets sometimes, ayyy!
Once a dog is fully grown, then once a day feeding is a good idea. From information I've come across elsewhere, it's a good idea to allow a dog to go around 16 hours without eating. My dog is almost full grown, but is still a pup. I was feeding him morning and evening, but lately he has started ignoring food unti at least lunchtime and eats most of his food in thel late afternoon. It's also beneficial to allow a dog to fast for a day every now and then. I haven't done that with my dog yet, but I have started giving him just a bowl of bone broth in the morning and nothing else but a small meaty bone to chew during the day.
My dog had dental surgery and won't drink water. He used to eat once a day, and now i have to feed 2x a day in order to add 4oz water to his food. Any recommendations? Hes 12lbs.
i have a staffy mix who's 4months old now and i feed her 3 times a day. before this video, i had no idea that the time of feeding didn't matter. i always tried to feed at 7am, 12pm, and 5pm, but it didn't always work out as sometimes i was busy with something else and didn't realise what time it was and that i had missed it. so i'd end up feeding her maybe 2 hours later and then postponed the next meal accordingly and that made me feel really bad. but this video helps me understand that it doesn't matter so much, at least she gets fed. she doesn't seem to notice when i pass the scheduled time though as she always acts super hungry either way. thank you for your insight rachel, it makes a lot of sense! :)
I feed once a day but the time does very. It depends what time i wake up anywhere from 9:30 am to 12 pm. It depends what time i go to bed. And I online have one dog that does the hungry pucking but it doesn’t happen very often
it is true. feed your dog randomness. if your dog sticks to the schedule, your dog will be anxious and always wait for the food once you miss out to feed your dog at specific schedule. like think about if you have a dinner with your friend, and your dog at home waits for the meal. however, lots of vets recommend sticks to the schedule which is .... you know.
Question: Then should I give broth and goats milk with the food ?? Do you give treat with the food too or do they cause inflammation if you give them separately from their meal?
Wow just watched your video and I want to start my dog on this routine! I have a 5 1/2 month maltipoo and he is all over the place! He’s eating kibble I just don’t know how often he should be eating?! Or how much to give him no one tells us so now I’m thinking we’re under feeding him. Any tips?!
Yes i do intermittent fasting and make sense for animals as eell. Tho seemed like my Pomeranian needed more than once a day. Perhaps because he didnt get raw nuttition dense food? Some says small dogs need more than once a day.
Thank you SO MUCH for all your advice & sharing your huge knowledge! Thanks to your advice & videos I managed to train my puppy/ potty train and now I am looking into feeding. THANK YOU!🙏🏻🐶☺️
ill be getting a 7 week old puppy soon, any recommendations on a eating schedule for him? I know you said frequently, but can you share a schedule please! thanks
Omg! I love your videos my yorkies are almost 7 months female 2 sisters I feed them the farmers dog when they was 6 weeks old I did every 6 hours 3 times a day I don’t know if this was rite but know that they going to be 7 months what is the best times and how many times per day I will feed them ? 🙏🏽
I have a puppy 8 months..small toy breed..I feed her 2x but when I'm off I'll feed 3x in a smaller portion. My work schedule each week is different Ling hours or shorts hours..I do feed different hours..
Hi Rachel I have a malttipoo and she's one an a half years old, I feed her twice a day but the vetanery told me to put her on schedule she was doing good but lately she doesn't what to eat I live the food there and she will eatit when she feels hungry, and I feed her twice a day. have a great day, hope you will respond
My 7 1/2 month old puppy is 55 pounds (not overweight). Should I feed her like a puppy (3-4 times) , or like an adult dog, because she is almost full grown. (Standard golden doodle)
Hi Rachel, I just adopted an 18 month old mini poodle. He like for me me leave the dog and water bowl down and he like to go back and eat when he wants to during the day. What do you suggest? Thanks😘
First video ive ever seen from you.. It was an AMAZING vid. You are awesome. And to top it off spreading joy and kindness to the world. Thank you!! Truly refreshing
Thank you I’ve been saying this for years we all eat way to much throughout the day it’s like over filling your car with unnecessary gasoline and sometimes The wrong type of gasoline
I feed twice a day. in the morning when I am awakened with kisses and early in the evening when they've been bugging me to death, apparently starving. I haven't considered once a day because 1) they'd revolt and2)I'd worry about hypoglycemia during the night. Little sugar and very low CHO could certainly cause that. Any research done?
Uh I have a puppy I’d not feed him the same time Everyday I feed home three times a day. I also have a question what is the best food brands you can feed a puppy and treats because I don’t what brand to get so help me out please and also thx for the advice I will definitely use your advice
I feed my dog home made food. I use the JUST food for dogs chicken recipe. I feed him the same amount everyday. He just turned 8months and he’s close to 40lbs. but the vet still tells me he’s too skinny. And I do feel his bones. En I doing something wrong?? Also idk if he’s eating our plants but he gets diarrhea every other month. Please some advice thank you ❤

I love ur vids. I am watching all ur tips on getting a dog and how to take care of them because I am going to be adopting a puppy in a couple weeks. Ur vids r so helpful. Have a wonderful day and keep up ur good work.
My puppy is 3 months old, I feed her 3 times a day. Half cup of dry kibble with have cup of can. I give her Pedigree puppy for chicken and veggies brand.
My senior dog gets water 3 times day whenever ( she doesn’t whine about it ) but at lunch I give her food along with her water whenever as well ( again doesn’t whine about it ) she doesn’t beg it’s super rare that she does only if I actually forgot to feed or put out water at all. ( is this ok? )
I feed my lab 4 times a day as he is 6 months old. Dinner on fix time but other meals are random. My dog is always Hungry. When ever i open any box, voice of wrapper, he becomes alert! He is growing but i really dont know what to feed him exactly and how much? I give him dog food once a day, chappaties with cereal or proteins or curd. Please recommend
Question. I have two 6 lb chihuahuas, would you still suggest that it's safe to only feed them once per day? I'm just curious because I have a strong feeling that you might be talking about larger breeds.
I"m getting a puppy soon, does anyone have a suggestion of how much to feed the puppy each time? Because I heard you need to feed them 3-4 times. Thank you!
M Rama hey ,I just got my first ever puppy yesterday (he’s An Australian shepherd mix and he’s about 2 months) And I’m wondering how to change his routine ,can you give me some tips ?
New Fur mami to a bully pit... he seems to not want wet food in the am but will gobble it all up in the evening(fam dinner).... he’ll eat kibble in the am n wet/raw mixer for dinner.... tryna figure him out! Lol .... any other ideas... raw recipe?.... is it a good idea to mix raw n canned?... doing blue wilderness (dry n wet)n merrick(can)
Thanks for this video Rachel it's really given me something to think about! I currently feed my dogs twice a day, am and pm, I do mix the times up but they're still roughly around the same times so I'm pretty sure my dogs know as when I get up if it's around those times they're a bit more hyper than other times of day. How would I go about transitioning them to once a day from this? Or how can I safely mix up their twice a day times so that they're a bit more unpredictable? Thank you!
Bloat is caused by letting a large breed dog eat too fast and a big meal. You can use special food bowls or place a big rock in the middle of your dog's food bowl and place the food around it.

Very helpful. This so makes sense!!!! Thank you for sharing.
Thank you!
If I'm wanting to feed my dog correctly why do you need to have your face in the thumbnail?

You make me smile so big! 😍
I agree!!
yes!!! I would buy so many just in case one breaks
I’d definitely buy it. And recommend it to all my pet parents.

Our lives are so disrupted by this new puppy because he’s not on a schedule, we don’t know where to put his cage, what food to give him, etc. I need to listen to you for my sanity! Thank you!
Hi Kathryn, I hope things are going better for you! Sending love ♥️
@@davidleeroth9846 I have fed mine three times a day until a year and twice now
I have been feeding my dog 3-4 times a day in a kong because she eats too quickly and it keeps her busy while I do chores
I LOVE kong feeding 😍😍😍
I would love to try that! I feed my dogs a raw diet though, do you? Just wondering how I could go about it without getting the bacteria from raw food etc on my floors/carpet
@@iloveMAKEUPxD no, I feed her kibble. I was going to try raw diet after she's done eating puppy kibbles and she's more tolerant around food. I suggest getting a big box or a tray so that the kong only stays inside one area
@@puppyholic that's a good idea! Thank you :)
I love using the Kong for meal times as well! Especially with my puppy is having a super energetic day!
And that's why my dogs soooo stressed abt it when I'm not feeding them on time! I'm glad that I found your video. Thank you so much
I’m doing so much research right now, since I usually have my dogs’ food bowl full and my only problem is with that, she is doing her business indoors in one spot (on a dog pad) which my family won’t help me with since I’m only 12, and my parents won’t help me and threaten to kick the dog out, when they’re not helping at all. Also the time or how much you feed your dog will reflect on their pooping schedule which I’m trying to handle. So thank you so much with this. And I’ll try my hardest to keep this dog. 😊
How's it going so far buddy?
I definitely feed my pets a few times per day, but the time definitely varies! That's because my schedule has changed so drastically over the years, my cats have never had meals at the same time consistently. I thought that made me a bad pet parent lol but now I feel validated! I've also fed my new puppy somewhat randomly but not on purpose! This is all so good to know!
🙂 Have a great day and Happy Thanksgiving.
Thanks for posting the vid.
well done for that :)

I just got a little one she’s 12 wks old I can’t wait to do the once a day feeding as of now i will settle for 2x a day
❤❤❤…I hope you have a fun day with your furry friend!!!
I love how much you love dogs and the mental energy you give to them. This video is super interesting and helpful.
I am so glad I found your channel, my husband and I have been doing one to two meals a day on keto for more than 3 years, I’m telling you that’s how I cured my constant hunger. I can only imagine the hunger pangs dogs are experiencing when they are begging for food is similar to that nature.
I feed my 4 month old puppy 3x's a day. Usually around the same time. 730am 1230pm and 530pm
That’s great for a young puppy! Love this
I have a 9 week old puppy. How much food do you give each time?
@@Millyzhere go by what the directions on the food say for age/weight
I like the idea of varying the times!! So they dont expect it at a certain time like clock work. Gives you flexibility too! We keep within the same hour window usually, but vary by day.
We feed our 5 month old mini dachshund puppy Answers Detailed raw 3x a day with a new bowl at every meal. The first meal is at the same time every day, but the 2nd and 3rd meal is depending on when she’s hungry. Sometimes the second one is at noon and sometimes it’s at 2pm.
themathtuber how much does it cost you monthly to feed raw ?
themathtuber I love Answers!! Great food, you are absolutely crushing #dogmom life ❤️ I like how you vary it up!
Ashley Vaeth Clover eats 5.5oz a day. We buy four 64oz containers at a time. Thaw two and put in Pyrex dishes (32oz ones) and freeze to take out when needed. The four cartons last 6 weeks for $100. So approximately $67/mo.
I have a dachshund! What brand of food do you use?
Hi Rachel,
I just adopted (3) three months old puppies.
Ashley Vaeth Here’s a video for you! ua-cam.com/video/67UuvaQsWu4/v-deo.html
Thanks
Great question Im struggling with weather to leave the water bowl in the playpen. Does it interfere with potty training?
I do feed my pup twice a day the same time every day but I've been thinking of switching to three times a day cause I feel like she needs shorter times between meals... She's three and a half months old
Consuelo Martinez At that age puppies are supposed to eat more than 2 meals a day. Please do research in this, it’s super important for puppies.
Consuelo Martinez puppies don’t best, from what I’ve seen, eating ~3-4x a day! Same quantity, just more often ❤️
Since changing to a dry food, we've had one very bad episode with Tucker throwing up and only a couple others that weren't as bad.
Jenna VanCour sometimes the smallest things make them happy😂
Your videos are a life saver. Is it applicable from a particular age? I have a 45 days old gsd pup. Can I feed her in this way?
Got my answer!! ❤
Hey if you want some extra dog food, the mobile app PICKL, is offering 2 free bags of Chippin at Petco.
Yes even my dog does that. I feel bad when she doesn't eat, but I think that's how it works for them as per ds video.
My dog acts similar but she's also very active and happy so I guess we need to read their cues and not force our beliefs on them.
Very good, random seems to come naturally with your dog. Keep up the good work 👍🏽
It's the first time I heard all of these official and now I understand why my mother's dog is 22 years old now ..she fed it only once a day ...

Thanks. ❤ from SF

I have a 12 week old puppy {Saint Bernard Newfoundland mix} and an 8 year old Chihuahua. The puppy eats 3 times a day and Mrs. Piddles eats 1 a day and I do wash their food and water bowls a lot!!!!
How much food should I feed my 10 year old Havamalt, she is 12 pounds? I feed her twice a day. When should I give her treats?
I’m planning do get a puppy sometime next year and I absolutely LOVE your videos! (Binge watched the majority of them) I find them extremely helpful and informative. I also really like how it always feels like you are directly talking to your viewers, ! 💗
Did you get it?
Live this video ....but where did you get the great RUG at!?
We've been raw for months twice a day. 24oz total. He scarfs it up. Has runs and seems super skinny. He's a 45 lbs active retriever.
Yolanda Calle twice a day is great! Sounds like my dogs, they eat food like it’s their last meal!
my dog is a senior, and she only eats in the evenings no matter what time I put the food out. I love the video!! I was wondering about this for my puppy that I will be getting soon.
My maltipoo is fed three times a day at various times. Vanilla is 7 weeks old; therefore, she is fed in the morning, afternoon, and evening.
Thank you!
I’d just feed them once because they will be pooping everyday. Thanks Rachel for the advice you’ve been a big help . New subscriber here
I'm a huge fan of brandon's tv show so it wasn't surprising that his book ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxSw1k29V8f0aNwyGI6qRGYJc3E4Y4Eoxy is also excellent!
Im 4 years late to this advice. As a first time dog owner, this make so much sense.
💚
How long should you leave the food down? Because my dogs have gotten used to openly feeding, sometimes I feel like they take food for granted and will take a long time throughout the day to eat. I think limiting their access to food as you're suggesting would really help correct that.
I eat once a day. Thanks for this advice. 👍🏼 What you say makes so much sense.
I am glad this helped! Thank you for sharing. I appreciate you ❤️
Twice a day.

Olyve Dela Rosa I love that you’ll be seeing a vet! Sometimes I’ve seen hunger pukes a greenish color too. Thank you for the kindness!
have good day
Make so much sense! It's like fasting, which is super beneficial to us humans. Thank you
Nary Son Yes!! I practice fasting ever since I read the book “The Obesity Code” & “The Diabetes Code”!
Fam, that's such great information and it makes so much sense! Fantastic. Keep it coming!!
Hes 12lbs.
What do u suggest to feed a dog that is under weight? I have 3yr Cane Corso that need to put weight on. Help. Please
i have a staffy mix who's 4months old now and i feed her 3 times a day. before this video, i had no idea that the time of feeding didn't matter. i always tried to feed at 7am, 12pm, and 5pm, but it didn't always work out as sometimes i was busy with something else and didn't realise what time it was and that i had missed it. so i'd end up feeding her maybe 2 hours later and then postponed the next meal accordingly and that made me feel really bad. but this video helps me understand that it doesn't matter so much, at least she gets fed. she doesn't seem to notice when i pass the scheduled time though as she always acts super hungry either way. thank you for your insight rachel, it makes a lot of sense! :)
I love your videos! I never ever had a puppy before so I’m first time dog momma , you’re so helpful 😭❤️

So glad I found your channel! Everything you say resonates with me. Glad there are more people who think this way.
I feed once a day but the time does very. It depends what time i wake up anywhere from 9:30 am to 12 pm. It depends what time i go to bed. And I online have one dog that does the hungry pucking but it doesn’t happen very often
it is true. feed your dog randomness. if your dog sticks to the schedule, your dog will be anxious and always wait for the food once you miss out to feed your dog at specific schedule. like think about if you have a dinner with your friend, and your dog at home waits for the meal. however, lots of vets recommend sticks to the schedule which is .... you know.
If you do feed once a day, how do you know how much to feed in that one meal? Especially with a growing puppy
12:05 she talks about how puppies should be fed ie 3-4 times per day
That’s what I’m confused about. She didn’t really touch on how to feed a puppy.
And should puppies NOT be in a schedule??? 🤦🏽♀️

So should I randomly feed my puppy 3Xs a day or should it be a little bit more regimented? Thank you! Just discovered your channel - so inciteful!!

Great question! Some smaller dogs do better with more frequent feedings. Ever pup is different ✨
I"m getting a puppy soon, does anyone have a suggestion of how much to feed the puppy each time? Because I heard you need to feed them 3-4 times. Thank you!
3 times is good. Dont listen to this silly lady
Wow Rama gets the award for paying special attention. This “LADY” said 3-4 times a day smh.
Congrats on your new puppy child Vivian!!!
M Rama hey ,I just got my first ever puppy yesterday (he’s An Australian shepherd mix and he’s about 2 months)
And I’m wondering how to change his routine ,can you give me some tips ?
Thank you!
But doesn’t feeding only once a day cause bloat??
When feeding a raw, fresh food diet, bloat is rarely a concern!
Bloat is caused by letting a large breed dog eat too fast and a big meal. You can use special food bowls or place a big rock in the middle of your dog's food bowl and place the food around it.
@@SaroDogTraining oh my god yes a big rock! So simple but I've never thought of that, I have the special bowls or stoppers to put in normal bowls.
@@RachelFusaro What's your background aside of having/foster dogs?
Saro Dog Training or use a snuggle mat for feeding!!
