Amtrak Knocks Down The Signal! Amtrak Pulling Hard On Grade, CSX Rock Train On Grade, Lakeland Fla.

- Amtrak Pulling Hard On Grade After Stopping, Amtrak Drops The Signal, CSX Rock Train On Grade & Freight Train On The Wye! These trains are in Lakeland, Florida on the CSX line. 4 trains and alligators in the swamps. Includes abandoned railroad crossing for Industrial spur in Lakeland.
The first train is an Amtrak train running between New York City and Miami. It had stopped at the train station in Lakeland and was starting up the grade heading toward Tampa. Yes, they do have grades in Florida. This is actually a pretty good one that you can see very easily.
The next train is a CSX train going up the grade at the same location. I heard both trains approaching on 160.590 so make sure you have a scanner when visiting.
Then we see the same Amtrak train in Lakeland as it was coming back from Tampa. This is where an abandoned railroad siding is present but hasn't been used in years. I met a Railfan named Zachary who watches my videos. We watched this train and then his dad showed me another good spot to watch trains in Lakeland on the wye.
The last train is northbound on the wye after coming from Tampa. We just barely had any light so I filmed this train with Mrs Tooths camera since it does better at night.
After that we go to the Highlands Hammock State Park about an hour south of Lakeland. We checked out the 1930s historic catwalk and found alligators, birds and other wildlife. This was our second time to ever visit this park. We were last here about 7 years ago when we stayed at my moms home in Wauchula. She has since sold the home and moved back to Ohio.

@@zacharylovestrains Cincinnati Eastern is only a couple miles from my house. I want to film the Brightline trains. I was going to a couple years ago when I was in Florida but my friends car broke down

That beautiful Orange Sky with the train passing by put's that relaxing Carefree feel the hobby should have in perspective. Without many changes the trusty turtle looks and travels like he did thousands of years ago. Glad you and Mrs Tooth are enjoying other non-rail sites. Someday they'll have an Oscar for best railfan travel and novelty video. Have fun in the Sunshine State

That narrow catwalk was very considerate to build for the cats. I can't see them spending the money nowadays for cats to have their own walkway. Maybe dogs. Not sure what you mean by "knocks down the signal." I didn't see that happen.
When the train turns the signal to red from a green light.
That goes back to the days of semaphore signals that had an arm that raised up for "go" or clear, and then dropped down when the train passed it.
It became a UA-cam thing in recent years. Hopefully will go away on its own.
Both of you folks do a great job filming the trains! Some nice Amtrak trains and that CSX was a nice intermodal with a FRED on the end car :) Very cool! As a bonus we get to see the park and its wildlife - and those alligators are wild :)

The Amtrak train running between New York City and Miami has a very long route, just over 1,200 miles. I guess there must be a change in the operating crew along the way.
At least one crew change, probably 3 or 4.
It includes too a land turtle!!!!

Uncle Norris use to eat snapping turtles up the road from grandma's cottage where we would catch them.
No such thing as a little alligator for me though.
Thank you for this additional video from your vacation trip to Florida in February 2023, Jaw Tooth! The Amtrak train that you caught going to and from Tampa, Florida was great catches. The freight trains were interesting to watch. Thank you for the added trip to the Highlands Hammock State Park. This State Park looks like an interesting place to see wildlife.

Interesting how one set of gates go down first then the other set, I bet they do that incase someone get caught on the tracks

Are all US passenger trains that slow or is it just because of the area it is passing through? Yesterday in Northern England, I was videoing some electric passenger trains on the East Coast Main Line and everything was doing 100mph+ The road barriers also drop about two and a half minutes before the train arrives!

u should go to palatka florida they have an amtrack station their and csx comes at night over their while amtrack takes all the day job its a cool place.
While I do like seeing alligators from a distance, I can't imagine being pursued by one of those beasts. Those things are ravenous, there was this one lady who was walking too close to a Florida lake with her dog and the alligator lunged at her and pulled her under the water, killing her. Be safe at those natural parks man

A little over a year ago there was a report of a very large Burmese python in the county just to the south of the one JT was in... so I wouldn't be surprised!

The train you caught at sunset was CSX I 044 - Uceta (Tampa) to Duvall (Jacksonville. I’m sure you noticed CSX trains call out their signals on the radio with their lead Locomotive number followed by their symbol. UA-camr Multicolor Films has a nice video on this train being assembled at Uceta.

Amtrak runs two NY to Miami trains. The Silver Star makes that leg to Tampa on that journey and the Silver Meteor does not.

They are not in abundance. For the most part I have seen them hiding in inconspicuous places like telephone pedestals. A fellow employee got stung by one but it was a mild sting….not poisonous like those out west.

@@ronhood7773 All the times I have been to Florida I have only seen one snake. I saw a big black one by the railroad near Gibsonton. I think that's the right name of that town. It had Gibson in it and it was south of Tampa. I have only been there in the winter though
