While it’s quite natural to gain weight during menopause, it does catch many women off guard. Most times the changes seem to be so drastic that we begin to feel that it’s going to need drastic/ extreme measures to bring it down.
The need of the hour, however, is a sustainable path to health and wellbeing and a reorientation of how we think about food and fitness. Any quick measure to knock off weight will not only worsen the menopausal symptoms in the present but also puts us on a slippery slope with long term health outcomes for the body and brain. The last thing we want to invite with age is frailty and fatigue, and so here are 4 easy foods that you need to bring back on your plate for fitness / health and of course weight loss -
1. The yam family of vegetables- these root & wild vegetables like suran, arbi, shakarkandi etc., are a good source of vitamins, minerals, fibre and bioactive compounds that can help keep the symptoms down.
2. Diverse protein - We are short on diversity and not protein. Menopausal symptoms of bloating, acidity and indigestion are made worse by mindless consumption of “protein rich” foods. So ditch the viral videos and invest in bringing back the diversity of pulses and legumes back on your plate in your grand ma approved proportions and combinations. This is the only fool proof method to assimilate the amino acids, folic acid, fibre without causing acidity, bloating, constipation, etc.
3. Chutneys - we don’t need seeds, we need chutneys for those essential fats and gut health. The til, alsi (flaxseed), dry coconut chutneys eaten with parathas, rotis & dosas are especially useful for the joints and skin.
4. Kharik- the dry date keeps the sweet tooth at bay, boosts your Hb levels & stabilises your mood.

Ye part bhi bahot helpful hai.Daily aap ka video dekh ke ab mujhe vishwas hone laga hai ke ha mai normal hu, q ke in saare symptoms ka reason samajh me nahi aata tha aur sab log kehte the arre tum meetha bahot khati ho, bahot jaldi chhoti si baato par rone lagti ho. Mai in saari problems se bahar niklne ki koshish kar rahi thi.
Ab aap ke in videos se meri himmat aur confidence dono badhne laga hai.

I have tried your recommendations on food and excercize for last 1 year. I was 70 kg and now I am 63 kg. The journey has been easy and difficult at the same time. Easy due to normal ghar ka khana, difficult since it has to be done very consciously. Crucial game changer is eating without screen. That helps to understand the quantity we need.
Not yet in peri menopause but your suggestions are extremely doable and gives results. Sirf ego side me rakhna hai....and need to follow diligently.
As always want to say that you are truly God sent.

1)Once a week take Yam family food: sweet potato,yam, colacassia
2)balanced Protein rich Indian diet: dals, idly dosa, dal kichdi
3)once a week ,soak and sprout 1 legume/ pulse like lobia,chole etc,cook and eat
4) daily for lunch / dinner include any seed chutneys with - sesame seeds,flax seeds,dry coconut chutney - useful for joints and skin
5)eat 2 or 3 dry dates daily - improves haemoglobin and stablises mood
