- Tropical Storm Lee will become Hurricane Lee today, as it marches closer to the Caribbean. In the short-term, the forecast remains locked in. Major Hurricane Lee will be just to the north of the Caribbean this weekend. Winds in Lee could exceed 150 mph, but if the track holds, the hurricane-force winds stay offshore. Hurricane Lee will be due north of Puerto Rico on Sunday and Monday. If anything changes with that (if there is any shift at all!) I'll let you know right away!
After that, I expect Lee to slow down or even stall to the east of the Bahamas and Turks & Caicos. Steering conditions become weak. Eventually, a front from the United States will help draw Hurricane Lee more to the north. When it makes its northerly turn will dictate where it goes.
An earlier turn would mean Lee could go right into Bermuda. A later turn means there could be a threat anywhere from the Carolinas, up through New England, into the Atlantic Region of Canada. The entire East Coast of the United States and Eastern Canada should pay VERY close attention to this developing hurricane.

Man oh man, this storm is gonna be the same kind of storm as Hurricane Maria, which already had me stressed. However, it looks like it will miss us here in Puerto Rico. I think we'll be fine. Still keeping track of it. Thank you for keeping us updated. But I think we'll be in the clear with this one. Let's hope the rest of September holds up quietly.

Brian I've been waiting this morning for your video about the hurricane because you are the only one I trust. Mid Atlantic US here and hoping this huge hurricane doesn't hurt anyone. You are wonderful and I know you will keep us safe letting us know where this storm is going to hit if it does at all. Like you said it's too early to really know about eastern US but I'm praying for our friends in Bermuda too as well as all the Caribbean islands. I grew up in Florida, and lived in SC on the coast and have been in numerous hurricanes, I’ve learned how to track these things in best a way I could, and Lee to me looks to be taking almost the same track Sandy did in 2012. I live in NYC now, nobody believed me back then when I said we were gonna get hit by Sandy. We did, right where I said it would make landfall. I see a similar track with Lee, but it looks like it would be stronger at landfall than Sandy was. Sandy hit as a 2, but our waters are warmer up here due this year, and Lee if it does come will probably do so as a strong 3. At least the city if far more prepared now, than they were in 2012.
Oh Most High God send your angels in the midst of the ocean to calm the wind waves and rain keep it in the ocean away from land. Let the storms dissipate in the midst of the ocean we pray this I.J.N.

It is very important to be aware of the weather conditions, in the past we know based on the development in this field it wasn't so, as countries would suffer from unexpected tragedies, only to find out hurricane ripping the land apart. Maybe you haven't watched any of the interesting videos documenting cruise ships caught in hurricanes.
Cruisers filming on smartphones their ordeals.
Captains and staff interviews.
Communications break down, and captains not receiving company instructions about the direction in which they should sail.
Passengers scared, windows breaking, water flooding in, ships bouncing around, people sitting in lounge chairs that slid this way and that, pianos sliding around, toilets backing up, plus lots more exciting stuff.
Some cruisers don't book cruises that sail through areas noted for bad weather during particular times of the year, even if cruise rates drop during those times.
Cruise companies don't want to lose money, hurricane or not, sail on.
At the end of the cruise, passengers are usually offered incentives and reduced rates if they book another cruise before they depart the ship at their home port.
A UA-cam search will undoubtedly yield hours of fascinating entertainment.
