"This fork in the road happens over a hundred times a day, and it's the choices that you make that will determine the shape of your life." -Liz Murray.
💜
Liz, your story turned my youngest daughter's life around. She was a problem from age 12. I insisted that she watch the Liz Murray story movie. Debra worked hard, graduated HS and then off to nursing school. She became an RN, then a master's degree in nursing. Then, she earned a doctorate degree in nursing. She now runs the nursing department at one of the largest hospitals in the USA.
you are a great parent!!! and you have a sensible daughter as well.
🔥 🔥 🔥
She is marvelous! But don't use her story to justify child abuse. There are many kids that just can't get out of that hellhole so telling them "you should've done what she did" would be unfair. Nonetheless, she's an inspiration to many.
Just like her friend cris chose the wrong side of the rd. Alot of success people out there their pain turn them ina better person whilst some turns worst. But for a better life we have to chose the best way mayb not exactly as her but successful
they don't get out sometimes, but the only reason people stay stuck is cause they don't believe nothing with change. she shared her story because she decided not to give up, you don't have to go to Harvard it's almost impossible to get in there even if your not homeless, but Liz was willing to get out of her situation no matter what it took.
Who has tried to use it to justify child abuse?
Ur comment makes zero sense. Child abuse? Justified?
Love this comment
Apart from the sheer willpower, what strikes me the most is that she doesn't harbour anger against people. She wasn't mad at her parents for not being parents or her situations. She was sad, no doubt but not playing the blame game. She accepted the situation and worked awfully hard to change it. Complete responsibility of her actions. No victimization of self.
True
100% determination. Sheer willpower. NOT easy
Not everyone is built like her with such resiliency & maturity to face adversities. GOD was the one to carry her all the way through. How one can use their pain for purpose. How to face& deal with the trauma. This is tough on anyone who endures severe loss&trauma. No one wants to play victim under unfortunate circumstances. Things like this can make you or break you. Mental health can play on number on ones brain. This is a miraculous testimony which I believe "Nothing But God".
She a prime example of the power of positive thinking .and the epitome of gratitude!

"It was so clear to me that you could go your whole life saying I'm gonna do it later"
So true!
I had the joy of meeting Liz as part of the United Way in North Central MA when she came to speak to a group of us. It was an honor.
Someone has to break the circle. you have to do something in order to stop the situation that you're in.
Been reading her memoir for the last few days. Finally I'm finding some hope after years.
The fact that she still says "I love my mother so much". How can she? I would have hated my parents from the core if they did drugs and got me homeless.
she was born into it maybe thats why and a beautiful person
She really loved her mom so much.I remembered in the movie she said she would give what she has now if she get her family back.
Anger makes us sick love confides everything forgiveness is better
I cried so much when I was watching this poor kid went through a lot
I cried so hard watching her true story
This was really inspiring. Liz murray is a great personality.
Liz Murray story gives us a powerful message that we can change our lives if we want.
liz is a true fighter because she knew that she didn't want to end up like her parents I'm glad that she decided to make a change in her life for the better
Very true and very well said. Thanks for watching!
Life does not wait for anyone.
I love her story and I've definitely thought it over. The number one point is she KNEW her parents loved her in spite of it all. That was key. Second, lucky her, she didn't acquire any mental health issues. Also, key.
every day is a possibility for a new change but confidence and courage are prerequisites!
She's a wonderful woman and inspiration to others.
Normally I don't take interest in these types of videos but really it struck me hard,it brought tears in my eyes and I wept for my lazy habit and never tried adventurous things.
It’s never too late to try! You got this
Same.
Best of luck!

This can be used in therapy sessions with kiddos trying to survive their parents struggles with substance.

Life comes to you and you have to live it, with the tools you have, you must carve out a path that allows you to reach a destination, which may or may not be attainable, however, on that path you must be certain that your steps day by day they forge you and your desires, your desires, your most precious dreams illuminate that path you walk, beyond destiny.

Saw the movie about her.
Very sad.
Not every homeless person is a drug addict, innocent ppl have bad luck o r are affected by others......it's what they do with it that matters..
Magnificent valour.

What was the movie called
Homeless to Harvard
The kind of stories that keeps me going, and sharing as much as I can with the least privilege I come across
Thanks for watching!
What's the title of the movie about her?
Homeless to Harvard: The Liz Murray Story (starring Thora Birch)
What happened to her sister? It's like she's blanked her from her whole story.
No she wrote a little about her in her book. She graduated college and teaches special needs children. They're not beat friends but that's because her sister was trying to survive her parents and didn't really treat her like a sister, but like an extra mouth taking food from her plate. Unfortunately when you come from a broken home a lot of times you and your siblings end up like acquaintances.
The drug dealer changed their lives. May the Lord bless him.
Liz , " You done good.. my brother did drugs.. yet now I wish I can inhibit a story .. 😪 through suffering we grow with God. He committed suicide.. , studying get you to places.. you proven to yourself, .. if I could tell one thing to Mt brother is to give up my room . I regret it. THANK YOU LIZ.. you are such an inspiration God hears your prayer😅..
Going to Harward is not to biggest achievement in her life
She a homeless but a genius ! Remember gifted talent! Tht y she make it
What happen to her sister
...and yet California is trying to legalize hard drugs even after legalizing ganja which is going to he!!.
WAKE UP AND VOTE WISELY.
Many trials and studies say it's good. Worked well in Portugal..
She needed a way out so she changed her life
In the movie she has a sister , I like to know what happened to her ?
She became a teacher.
@@ceriunwin-springett92 also, was her sis being se_ually abused by pops? like how pops used to do to liz
s mum,why did her sis got to stay with pops but not lizzy when lizz was 15,i didnt get it
What’s the name of the movie?
@@PsychicRogueGaming pops didn't like liz and kicked her out. In the movie, she left on her own, I think I'm not sure.
@@daydreamer969 got it
I thought she ended up dropping out of Harvard after a couple years though and then she went back to school somewhere else?
Her mother was a horrible human being.
How was she able to afford to go to Harvard?
It all got paid by the new York times.
Think an NYU scholarship
She was given scholarships. Others helped her out with furniture etc for her apartment, inspired by her story. It's all in her book!
Pardon me for what you've been through,ok
Do you guys think she was smoking fentanyl pills like all street homeless in my town do?
For the people who are stuck-up this movie blanishmently made me take notice. Your performance was excellent-children are trashed by society & their parents, the drugs are too strong in their efforts. yet, the feeling sorry for themselves in not parenting, is what is too important. Yor are dynamo in pursing the highest achievement in life, but I wasn't convinced. Your vocabulary was minimal, but if I am wrong-congratulations on taking charge. HARVARD COLLEGE DECISION BELOW: 980 F.3d 157 539 U.S. 244, 276 n.23 (2003).
Thank you
