“Today we gonna slapp the bass”
Plays it with a pick.
@@tmoney142 middle of April, still the biggest crime. At least he acknowledged that he plays bass like a guitar player... The first step is always admitting that you have a problem :-D
I love seeing everyone's opinion on this bass, I bought one because I wanted to flip the strings and play it left handed and I didn't want to be experimenting with an expensive guitar. I love it.

NOT EPICO
I modded the heck out of this bass:
- new TUSQ nut
- Geezer Butler EMG P/J pickups (new chrome knobs)
- Hipshot high mass bridge
- Hipshot tuners
- Ernie Ball Slinky strings 45 - 100
Love it, and it sounds awesome!
if you have the time, how did these affect the sound/why’d you put them on it?
I got the bass with the intent to modify it. The Geezer Butler pickups removed a lot of the noise I was getting. They're extremely quiet. It's possible I could have achieved the same effect by shielding the body cavity.
The TUSQ nut helped improve playability. At least on my bass, I had to fiddle with the setup quite a bit.
I absolutely love my Yamaha TRBX174.....sounds great.
Jason Stone How's the action, and is the neck width suitable for smaller hands/shorter fingers?
Vic Toza if you have small hands, shorter fingers it’s not that big problem. You will just have to stretch your fingers more
Me too love it!
This is a very good sounding and built like a tank bass. Very solid instrument.
wow...im leaning a lot for this bass
Finally something for the bass players
Bought my Yamaha used about a year ago, works great, sounds good even through my sub par amp
i just bought this bass, its amazing! 🎸
I also own one.Sold my Gibson Ripper I had for almost 40 years and found I missed owning and playing one...spotted this one at the local music store...awwww,,,wtf...only $220...it's gotta be a cheap piece of crap right?...Absolutely not!!!!....This is a top quality everything level-entry instrument and you can see by this video just how great it sounds and feels to play.
I got it just yesterday... I don't know how to play but I'm learning
@@shirleytatha8189 my first song was AC/DC Ballbreaker I bit over 3 years ago.
bro,,,,,,,is it close to fender P bass??? i own 3.....but looking for something close to steve harris tone for a budget
@@rajeshhkkapoor8549 yes bro it is.. I bought in Calcutta... It's a very versatile instrument.... There is nice rumbling sound as well as deep and smooth low
Got one....let's repeat it loudly: BEST BANG FOR THE BUCK!
Things I like about this bass: satin neck (I hate the gloss on Squier), smaller neck radius (makes it easier to glide across strings), passive (so no need to worry about a 9V dying!), stays in tune better than some other basses I've used.
I can already see myself playing the Schism bassline on this baby!
I just ordered this bass, in dark blue metallic, yesterday, pretty excited for it to arrive.
He had me when he started playing My Friend Of Misery
I always wanted to try a bass!
thank you for playing older metal-y stuff cuz that was a deciding factor on if I wanted this or not :3 I want to get this to set it up for d standard
@@pontesul1 no but im saving for a new bass so im looking around :3
thank you.
I posted asking where I could find the best deal for a bass on FB due to me making a 152.64 a month and a fellow veteran is sending me this model Yamaha for free. What a blessing!
buying this one today. so excited.
Best video I’ve seen for this bass. Ordering on on the 23rd I might do a review of it as well and give my opinions on it.
Awesome let us know when you upload we will check it out!
I went to the music today a few minutes ago. I asked the best cheap bass they have. They showed me that one!
Yessss, you nailed it ;-)
Omg 1:51 Jason Newsted solo, I'm def getting that guitar
I walked into a studio with a Music Man I'd been playing for years, and a TRBX174 I'd grabbed for 89 bucks used, because why not. The room consensus was the Yamaha came off better for the project.
Do the frets of this bass snag your hand while going up and down the neck?
Excellent review thank you. I'm buying one of these for my nieces. And maybe one for me too.
uk7769 thank you for the kind words!
Lethe! 😎
CALL THE COPS!!! He's using a pick!
Well, some of us prefer to save fingerstyle for your mom 🙂

@@bekunkulbluds never heard of a joke 🙏😭💀
@@JonJonesSidePiece wtf help i dont remember commenting this idk why i was so mad
What do the nobs do? Just got it, so confused. Learning is so much fun!!
says he's going to slap the bass, begins to use the pick!
Would this be good for playing metal
I dont know the prices there in USA? but in Europe trbx is still around 300 -330 € (330-360 $), now in 2023
🎸🎸🎸
u seem like a nice guy to hang out with:D
Today I said goodbye to my Yamaha TRBX… After my neighbours' kid dropped it problems occured. Today just like that it stopped working… great bass
Mac Donald should of had beat the shit out of your neighbors kid
La takamine De Raul I almost did that…
Mac donald say goodbye to neighbhours kid today
The electronics are simple enough that you might be able to repair
@@macdonald715 It can be easily repaired by an expert guitar shop specialist.
I have the trbx304 and I think I should’ve gone with that one instead
Is it good for beginners?
I Got one for Free its awsome a little dinged but great
OH man! Score! Glad you like it!
I'm thinking about getting my first Bass next month, problem is: I can't decide between this Bass or Fender Affinity PJ Bass.
SAME
Definitely TRBX 174
@@Efendi_Bass I agree.
Yamaha is developing better instruments and Fender is selling budget worst IMO. I have lotta Yamahas and Fenders.
@@asuntos.publicos Hello, I don't know if you were replying to me but if you were I want to tell you that I didn't bought a bass because I couldn't decide which one to get. Also, for a while I was looking for someone near my house who could teach me how to play and since I didn't found someone I gave up looking and forgot the bass.
would u say it comes close to fender P bass for a budget? thanx in advance
It is like having a P and a J bass both in one with that pickup configuration. - Eric
@@CAHouseMusic thank u sir... Didn't expect a reply... So gratitude... 🙏...
So if given a choice between sire, squire.,... This would be the weapon of choice?
I already have two yamaha s
Trbx 305
Rb ax
And a Warwick rockbass... So trbx 174 feels natural
What strings did you used for this bass in the video??
I believe those are roundwound strings
Fun, very little excess video.
Do you know what strings they use for this bass? I have this bass and I love the strings
045-.105 Strings 👍
045-.105 flatwound
Do you guys think I should change the precision pickups with some fender ones?
If that is the sound that you're going for, then by all means! Go for it. Live your life. - Eric
Stock sounds amazing, needless.
How was the action on this when you first got it?
Mine was genuinely awful. So high it hurt to play. Bought mine from a guitar center store so I'm not surprised it wasn't set up at all.
"You're playing that thing like a guitar"
Yeah...so did Lemmy.
Man, I need a help.. I’m getting a noise with this guitar especially when increasing the first tone knob (treble control). When using compressor the noise is heavy, not able to record. I need help to remove the noise. Can you help?
check the inside that the wires are connected properly, check the Black wires especially make sure the Earth isn't handing on by a few strands, check solder joins
Can someone please help me....
What kind of an amp do y'all use???
If is just for practice, any bass amp around 10-15W will do the job, I have an Ampeg BA-108 myself, but it's up to you, just be sure that is a BASS AMP, a guitar amp could end up damaged if you plug a bass to it
@@Oiak1086 ohhh, thank you so much dude!
@@Oiak1086 to play live usually I find staff guys with equipment already. Big Ampeg usually.
I would use a 340 watts Ampeg Head and a 4x10 Hartke cabinet plus a boss bass multi effects and an Eden WTDI Di Box if I had to take my own gear.
This guys off his fucking head
is the action really low? i want really low
action is mostly up to you. lower the bridge saddles to reduce overall string height. If it's buzzy you may need to tighten the truss rod to bow the neck a little bit. You will need some time to get it just right. If you just can't get it to work right, a luthier can lower the strings inside the nut to get them lower at the very end of the neck. A luthier will also have more expertise when it comes to getting your strings REAL low with all the other methods.
@@MrGallade475 read all you can about truss rod adjustment before you try.
Song in 1:57?
Sounds like a flamenco stilized anesthesia pulling teeth part
