- David Packouz is an American arms dealer and the central subject of the 2016 Todd Phillips film War Dogs. In 2005, Packouz joined Efraim Diveroli in Diveroli's arms company AEY Inc. By 2007, AEY secured a nearly $300 million U.S. government contract to supply the Afghan Army with 100 million rounds of AK-47 ammunition.

The ammunition that AEY had secured originally came from China, violating the terms of AEY's contract with the US Army, which bans Chinese ammunition. David was instrumental in the covering up of the origins of the ammunition and he was sentenced for conspiracy to defraud the United States.

Gotta hand it to Mark, he took a creative route with this interview. I've watched a couple of David's interviews before, and they always start with him being asked to summerize his story and walk them through the stages, but with Mark, that part only took place in the last third of the podcast, and the 1st and 2nd thirds were dedicated to just roleplaying an arms dealer from bottom to top and then just casually picking David's brain about world politics in relation to economics and the global arms race. So basically kind of the reverse of what a usual interview would do. Very intersting

Solid interview. I've heard a podcast interview with David before and it was interesting to hear his side of the story after the movie, but this format of roleplaying the wanna be arms dealer and then finding out the story was new approach. Mark is holding this interview/conversation stuff down.
