I'm not sure Lars will influence Homeworld too much, but I think he is an important plot device. Because he is on Homeworld, Steven has a reason to break out of there and try to save him. I think that Steven gave up on the idea of fighting and only wants all to be over. If it weren't for Lars, he would just accept his capturing in the hope of saving Earth.
Agreed. I can't imagine I'm the only person who thinks Steven's idea is ridiculous and, like all the other times he let his emotions get him, this is gonna bite him in the ass. Sure, HW would get 'Rose Quartz' but the fact that he thinks that will stop the Diamonds from wanting Earth destroyed - especially when they discover the cluster won't do it and certain members of the CGs (ie Garnet and Pearl) are still alive. I mentioned on the Roundtable's video that I hope Steven gets a well needed and deserved culture shock that will make him appreciate his mother and guardians more than he does.
I also think it's a stupid idea. Giving HW something they don't even know they want( from what we've seen, they think all CGs, including Rose, got corrupted) doesn't mean they will give up on the idea of destroying Earth. Especially if you take in consideration the fact that they planned to make Earth a Gem Colony (basically a hollow planet populated by gems) even before Rose and the war. Unfortunately stupid ideas never stopped Steven before. Hopefully things will turn right somehow.
well, I have a theory that the 'corruption wave' wasn't even meant to corrupt; it was meant to destroy. It was just Earth itself or its atmosphere (I'm not entirely which) that caused it to corrupt the gems on the planet. That's like one my top things I want to see this season (number 1 actually) and that's Steven just growing up or growing some balls. His naivety has nearly cost him his life numerous times and it seems to have escalated since the end of season 3. He trusts WAY too easily and then is shocked, SHOCKED to discover that people actually would rather just kill him than be his friend. And it played out in I Am My Mom - he thinks giving himself up to the Diamonds is going to save the Earth and stop a war that's not even happening at the moment. But you can sure as hell bet one WILL start when (cause there's no IF) the Gems get to HW to rescue him; that puts Garnet (and thus Ruby and Sapphire) right in the sights of Blue Diamond, Peridot in front of Yellow, and Pearl in front of White Diamond (assuming Pearl was originally WD's pearl). It also gives up Connie as another human for the zoo and Amethyst as a runt. THIS is why Rose probably never wanted to do this (cause, you know, she thought before she did shit). Steven's set himself up to fail - AGAIN - and I hope there are real consequences this time that Steven will have to toughen up to face.
Claudiu You may be onto something there. If we take him at his word, Steven seems to have the very naïve idea that the only reason Homeworld wants to do harm to the Earth is because of what Rose Quartz is alleged to have done to Pink Diamond--apparently completely forgetting about the Diamonds' plan to biocide this planet long before there was any rebellion--and that the Diamonds would leave the Earth alone if he accepted their punishment for his mother's sins. The Diamond Authority doing harm to Lars would get Steven out of his fatalistic funk and compel him to think again like a warrior.
I think Steven's presence on HW will have the bigger impact, not Lars. If anything, I think Steven's the better diplomat versus insecure Lars. BUT, seeing as HW gems may not want to listen to anything 'Rose Quartz' has to say, it would be up to Lars to carry Steven's message forward, which...70/30 - 70% of it failing. Let's go with that scenario - let's say Steven is spouting some 'Peace and War on the planet Earth', gems aren't listening, and Lars pops up with a 'look, I'll be the first to tell you that Steven's annoying. He's too upbeat and he never considers the bad side to anything. But...that's what makes him pretty cool.' Again, I doubt the HW gems will care, but it would be Lars' shining moment of not being a douche.
Regina Woodard if earth is to be spared some one has to pay the ultimate price for earth. hopefully if it's Steven Steven saves earth by sacrificing himself and his death teaches Lars to be a better person and live life to the fullest and earth is saved . Steven dies fighting (his Destiny) for earth and he falls and white diamond defeats him in combat. in his final moments he tells them who he really is and the diamonds realize their mistake. like a Shakespeare play called tragedies
Yeah, I could that. If this was a Shakespeare play or even an anime (DBZ anyone?), but it's not. The show is called Steven Universe, so no matter what, Steven will live to fight another day. Also, it's a cartoon targeted at kids 7 & up (is that right?), so I'm fairly sure none of the main cast or even side characters are going to die. And again, IF Steven dies, that will do nothing. The Diamonds will still target because 1. it's Earth and 2. there are still Crystal Gems on the planet and not just any CGs - Garnet and Pearl. As we saw with Yellow Diamond, they could shatter Steven all the live long day and still destroy the Earth out of spite.
Isaiah Stotesbery A very technologically advanced North Korea, that is. The gems there may be living a very technologically advanced live but maybe even more restricted than ever before after the death of P.D.
Rainbowgirl1094 IMPORTANT QUESTION!!! we are discussing with my friend. is slice of otaku the same dude from the roundtable, awestruck vox? please, and thank you!
Dude, can I just say that your voice is so comfortable to listen to?? Also, I always check for new videos from you because you eally bing out some good points!
Or maybe the theory of Lars and Steven fusing into Stars would make gems who fuse with a same gem, it would make them believe they can fuse with a different gem, since a human and half gem could fuse, they'll probably start a revolt against the Diamonds, and maybe Steven might have new friends to bring home to Earth when Homeworld starts a new war against Beach City.
True, if they were to leave Homeworld, I believe the new characters like Topaz and that skinny blue gem (Turquoise or Moonstone) and maybe another will help the two humans escape, but I believe Steven has to defy the Diamonds in front of their court members in order for Topaz and the possible extras to aid their escape.
I have a theory, blue diamond helps Steven escape, after he’d make her realize that killing him would not bring her peace, or easy her burden, and or connects with her somehow, Considering he connected to her emotionally on earth. My evidence for this is mainly the fact, both Lars and Steven escape on blue diamond’s palanquin carriage, I think only a diamond can control the palanquins’. It would be dangerous for someone else to be able to control them, they could lead the diamonds into a trap, it would make sense that only the diamonds’ are able to control the palanquins, don’t you think. Also if a diamond help them escape it will cause conflict between the three diamonds, given more room for the creators to have more lighthearted episodes. This is still a children’s show, after all. Let’s face reality, if Steven escape from the diamonds, they will never stop hunting him. And they already know he’ll probably go back to the earth. If he escapes. And if one diamond stand against the others to protect steven, it would buy Steven time. What you think of my theory?
Okay so the place Lars is at looks like a Kindergarden, and theyre on Homeworld, is it safe to assume that the theory of Homeworld using up its own resources and then having to use other planets cause they ran out, is that correct?? What does everyone think?

At the end of Rising Tides/Crashing Skies, he stands on the clifftop and talks about his talent in negotiation and states that he may have a future in intergalactic diplomacy.
Maybe Ronaldo is already one... for all humans of earth. His culture is probably the one that's tied to gems, which will explain his knowledge of the gems.
Its possible that the gems will see how a human manages to survive on Homeworld and Lars seems like hes finally stepping up for Steven, which is pretty awesome.
Am I the only one wondering how the humans who were in Topaz are still alive and healthy? Sour cream said Onion had been missing a few days, Lars was missing for at least a day and a half, Sadie was missing for s whole night, and Jamie was missing a few hours. I'm sure Aquamarine and Topaz didn't feed them or let them go to the bathroom, and they probably couldn't sleep because of the horrible situation, so they should have been a little more... fatigued. Cartoon logic, I guess. Let me stop nic picking
Cartoon logic indeed. I could see them surviving without food for 2 days, but I have doubts about their sleep. Plus the bathroom could be an interesting problem.
Tamera Farly the human body does this thing wherein when you're panicked and have enough adrenaline in your body, it kinda just pauses all digestion processes until the 'danger' passes, though i can't imagine it'd last much longer than a day (unless it kept getting triggered over and over). people can go for up to a week without eating with no adverse effects, depending on their lifestyle. all those dudes would probably start getting pretty damn hungry after the third or fourth day though. also to be fair, shock is one hell of a drug. they probably all just haven't yet realized how shitty they feel.
It makes me so happy that a character like Lars is now being heavily discussed and debated within the SU fanbase. He is getting a lot more attention than any other character has for a LONG time; its pretty incredible~!!! As always, loved the video and analysis~!!!
I could see maybe the gems witnessing Lars' love with either Steven or talking about Sadie and sympathizing. It seems a lot of gems have a soft spot for familiarity
I have theory, Before Steven was born, this happened. Rose talked to Sapphire, she wanted to know her and Gregs future. So long story short, The show is all about what is happening in Sapphires future vision. Rose gave birth to Steven > Rose died > Steven survived > Steven is now living with the Crystal Gems > Steven discovered about Rose's past > Steven discovers his powers > Steven finally has informations about the Diamonds. To round it up, It is all in Sapphires future vision. And by the time her future vision ends, the show will end too.
My theory is that they use the Sapphires to detect POTENTIAL FUTURE threats, and exterminate them. "A sapphire has a use, she can tell you what it's for". That is how they maintain technological superiority in the cosmos.
no! i don't think he's the right person for the job! (infact he's more likely the guy that would cause them to want to get rid of organic life more) connie would be the perfect person for this!(why'd they have to leave her behind :'( .) she has been raised studying culture and various relationships, she's been trained in the sword, she has been raised to be very smart and orderly , and most homeworld gems would probably come to respect that, and appreciate this life form that has such similar views to their own, besides connie, as a human, knows the more about gem culture than anyone else besides steven. she would be the perfect person for this role. i hate that they left her behind.
I have a theory that maybe baybayin is based on gem script in SU since they kinda look the same if you squint and maybe Lars will recongize it a bit? The only thing is that baybayin hasn't been used in hundreds of years, at least in our world, but it seems appropriate considering it's confirmed that Lars is half Filipino. I mean, it may not be in use but it's still known. Maybe in SU it's used in the Philippines still idk I just think it would be cool to see how gems influenced Earth cultures.
wait a minute.... in the back round their are two holes from gems and they are connected behind lars when he breaks that small red eye with that pointy rubble... could that be topazes holes?
Off subject question: Since WWII never happened, do you think computers are still a big deal in SU. I know that we have seen laptops in computers, but since they were probably developed later, they might not be as prevalent. Maybe, it is just Beach City (except for Ronaldo)
Probably homeworld gems will probably realize that organics can feel and experience things probably Lars will say that they'll free on there planet resulting for many homeworld gems probably 60% of gem population will rebel..
On the topic of them meeting other organic lifeforms, I wonder if they've ever met a species they couldn't defeat, like some race of super-organics with superior strength or tech or just a really defensible home planet.
I still think the episode "Lar's Head" will be because Lars sasses or talks back to one of the diamonds - and the Diamonds will declare "Off with his head" or something like that. Even if only so they can analyze his brain and find out why he thinks and acts so different to the 'normal'.
Gems live to serve the diamond authority, is that just an eventual construct of their society, or was a Diamond literally the first of Gem kind ever to exist? And if so, how was it made? Were gems ever naturally formed in the crust of their home planet? Or did something invent the technology to create Gems for a purpose only to lose control and be overtaken by them?
I have a question if to Gems had their gems in the exact same place and they fused what would happen? For example hypothetically if Ruby and Sapphire both had their Gem on their left hand and they fused what would happen?
I literally just realized that the donut on his work shirt vaguely resembles a BD for "Big Donut". Or maybe I'm looking too much into it. Either is possible.
Cristina Trejo IMPORTANT QUESTION!!! we are discussing with my friend. is slice of otaku the same dude from the roundtable, awestruck vox? please, and thank you!
Lars pessimistic honestly could make he a good ambassador for earth, but Steven and Lars already influence Topaz. So, it may be a combination of Steven and Lars relationship and how they interact.
I always wondered, how was Steven and Lars breathing on homeworld. I'm sure gems don't need air for obvious reasons so why the lack of helmets. Same with Steven in the moon. I'm sure it probably doesn't matter but it's kind of funny
something i find weird about homeworld, why is there a resource shortage and why do they need to conquer other worlds? we have seen gem tech that can replicate and turn back time so resource gathering and winning battles shouldnt be an issue, as for the conquest - they were growing quartz soldiers before the rebellion so they were prepping for a war, logically the resource shortage and the war over earth followed by the thousands of years ignoring it while it grows a super weapon would imply homeworld is at war elsewhere
I wouldn't pick Lars for the job, but since he's there, I guess the writers already picked him. Surely they won't have him accidentally make everything worse... well, hopefully they're not that sadistic to a character who already hates himself. So he'll probably make a neutral or a positive influence
Actually. I think HW has taken at least some things from Earth. Take Sapphire for example. Any gem with only one eye is due to her gem being one of her eyes. But her gem is parallel to Ruby's. And yet she still has one eye. Her one eye and clairvoyant powers are based off Greek/Roman creatures known as Such as the 3 oracle sisters who shared a single eye. And the cyclops who aided Zeus in defeating his father and the titans. Though it can be said the cyclops were bigger than sapphire. Anyways depending on how old Gem culture truly is. And Around what time they started making gems like sapphires. They had to of found similar influences. You should do a video on your theory of when specific gems came to be.
I'm still hoping for a Stars fusion. That would certainly make the Homeworld gems think twice about what they "know". No matter what happens I cannot wait!
If Steve Universe ran on our current timeline, in 100 years humans would probably be able to invade homeworld successfully. I mean, we could use a single missile to wipe out fleets of gems, and I cant imagine how powerful bullets would be against gems. This would be an amazing fandom tbh. Back to the bullets, and weapons, bullets would totally shred gem's physical form, and gems only really have weapons that are useful against other gems. And the key factor that would probably make humans win, is that we would destroy gems faster than homeworld can create them, on top of the fact that gems suck up resources and humans are better combatants AND are created faster. But it seems like the SU world is around 1990's tech despite being current day.
after watching the special myself I think that Steven will go back to home world through the lion mane\lars hair universe and try to find out about the diamonds but gets caught and is going to have one of the diamonds try to shatter him but because he's half organic\human it doesn't work and the diamonds become fascinated with Steven and decide to study him
i don't think Lars won't be a good kind of human to represent the whole human race. I think that he only wants to survive and leave back home, Steven is the right kind person who can share this kindness or love to the gems on home world.
why not pull a bill and ted, say the sand time dial will be retrieved in a hundred years. then go back to hand it over in the past to present self to use it to go back and witness pink diamonds shattering- intervene and bubble her instead and return to the present to use as a peace offering.
this is pretty unrelated to all the things you have been discussing lately, but i was really wondering: what would garnets role be if she was on homeworld? considering there isnt any gems from homeworld that really represents her well.
otaku isolation does not mean technology stagnation. most technology stagnation is cause by deliberate roadblocks. Take for example china, there smelting guilds would have started the industrially revolution, but the nobles at time saw it a threat against them and crush them. also remember that home-world has a class of scientist at there disposal.
+SliceofOtaku I would have compared them to sparta. only time anyone could leave was during war. they didn't even have a currency, like (presumingly) gems
I feel like Lars is definitely the best human character for this. He's pretty blunt when it doesn't have to do with his feelings, but even then he's growing a lot on that front too. For one, I honestly believe the Famithysts will adore him, and enjoy making fun of him. (I hope we get to see it!) I also think his anxiety will be used as a way to relate to the gems who are too afraid to speak up. As Steven said, Lars says it like it is and doesn't sugarcoat things and that's probably his greatest asset on homeworld. While Steven draws people in with "let's all share our feelings everything will be great!"; Lars' approach is "you seriously don't see what's wrong with this? look at everything that's wrong with this!". He'd probably be able to balance out Steven, and help ground him when talking to gems that may be ready to rebel. In this case, I feel like Steven and Lars might be able to pull off a stunt of their own that feels similar to how it felt to watch Rose and Pearl in Garnet's origin story. At least that's my hope.

I agree with this. You made a great point. Love your videos ❤️
I'm happy that Lars is getting more character development, I don't think he's all that bad :)
lars will introduce "fuu-od" to the homeworld gems
Imagine if he made some ube cake and the homeworld gems like it
lars is gonna be loved by gems
Yeah Lars may have developed greatly though out the series but I doubt he is "ambassador worthy" if you know what I mean.
Hiroshima Nagasaki He still may be one, Bad or not
true
In the trailer blue diamond says
"Im going to do something worse"
Corruption?
wait a minute.... in the back round their are two holes from gems and they are connected behind lars when he breaks that small red eye with that pointy rubble... could that be topazes holes?
To be truthfull, after the episode Stuck Together. Lars is my new favourite character
i love you
Adrian Thomas ily 2
This comment chain went to hell very quickly
lets keep it PG out of respect for papa slice
SoupsUniverse ew
Adrian Thomas I love you too
I love you too ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡° )
Wow great video! liked and subscribed
Off subject question: Since WWII never happened, do you think computers are still a big deal in SU. I know that we have seen laptops in computers, but since they were probably developed later, they might not be as prevalent. Maybe, it is just Beach City (except for Ronaldo)
I want to know the answer to the theme song if the moon is in the distance, and the earth is above them, where are they!!!????👍
Probably homeworld gems will probably realize that organics can feel and experience things probably Lars will say that they'll free on there planet resulting for many homeworld gems probably 60% of gem population will rebel..
woooowwww...you were basically right. good job, you really think these over and flsh it out.
0:08 Is that a at-at walker in the background?
On the topic of them meeting other organic lifeforms, I wonder if they've ever met a species they couldn't defeat, like some race of super-organics with superior strength or tech or just a really defensible home planet.
lmaoooo and there's a commercial of Brandon Rodgers right before the video starts
its the run house one
I can't breatheee
I still think the episode "Lar's Head" will be because Lars sasses or talks back to one of the diamonds - and the Diamonds will declare "Off with his head" or something like that. Even if only so they can analyze his brain and find out why he thinks and acts so different to the 'normal'.
You make Gaijin Goomba proud
I hope you're right.Maybe Gems will be conflicted as to what will become of earth?
Gems live to serve the diamond authority, is that just an eventual construct of their society, or was a Diamond literally the first of Gem kind ever to exist? And if so, how was it made? Were gems ever naturally formed in the crust of their home planet? Or did something invent the technology to create Gems for a purpose only to lose control and be overtaken by them?
Is it possible that there were more than one rebellion on other collinies????? Maybe there were other "rose quartz"
who else thinks that the roundtable and otaku should make a collab talking about su bombs?
I love your theorys , when's your next one?
SO CRAZY STEVAN AND LARS FUSIN LARS WAS A WANNNA BE COOL GUY NOW THAY BOTH GOT SO CLOSE
Thats what i think
I have a question if to Gems had their gems in the exact same place and they fused what would happen? For example hypothetically if Ruby and Sapphire both had their Gem on their left hand and they fused what would happen?
yellow diamond is so heavy! When she takes a step in What's the use of feeling blue n that will be all
I literally just realized that the donut on his work shirt vaguely resembles a BD for "Big Donut". Or maybe I'm looking too much into it. Either is possible.
Aquamarine is voiced by the same person who voiced young Judy in Zootopia
He's gonna be a savage talker there
If Bingo Bongo turns into a meme,I'll start liking Lars.
hi Slice
Cristina Trejo IMPORTANT QUESTION!!! we are discussing with my friend. is slice of otaku the same dude from the roundtable, awestruck vox? please, and thank you!
no, they are different people. why would you think that they eould be the same person?
*would
HELL YEA WHERE'S ALL OF THE NOTIFICATION SQUAD EXCITED TO SEE ANOTHER SLICEOFOTAKU VIDEOOOO?
Lars pessimistic honestly could make he a good ambassador for earth, but Steven and Lars already influence Topaz. So, it may be a combination of Steven and Lars relationship and how they interact.
I would of loved Connie or Sadie honestly. I know both of them would fight for earth. But Lars might surprise us.
lars to diamonds: we got fidget spinners
diamonds: *destroys earth*
I always wondered, how was Steven and Lars breathing on homeworld. I'm sure gems don't need air for obvious reasons so why the lack of helmets. Same with Steven in the moon. I'm sure it probably doesn't matter but it's kind of funny
Hey is it just me or does the stone head behind Lars at [2:45] look like Lagann from Gurren Lagann?
something i find weird about homeworld, why is there a resource shortage and why do they need to conquer other worlds? we have seen gem tech that can replicate and turn back time so resource gathering and winning battles shouldnt be an issue, as for the conquest - they were growing quartz soldiers before the rebellion so they were prepping for a war, logically the resource shortage and the war over earth followed by the thousands of years ignoring it while it grows a super weapon would imply homeworld is at war elsewhere
That could have been a very great alternate sequence of events.
isn't homeworld and the diamonds going to come after lars and steven if they escape anywhere? please discuss this
SliceofOtaku: *mentions Japan being closed*
Me: *remembers this fact from "History of Japan"*
I wouldn't pick Lars for the job, but since he's there, I guess the writers already picked him. Surely they won't have him accidentally make everything worse... well, hopefully they're not that sadistic to a character who already hates himself.
So he'll probably make a neutral or a positive influence
i think there should be an episode where Peridot goes to the kindergarten, fixes a drill, and grows a diamond for Earth to fight Homeworld.
IT'S NOT CRIMINAL, TO BE AN INDIVIDUAL!
Actually. I think HW has taken at least some things from Earth. Take Sapphire for example. Any gem with only one eye is due to her gem being one of her eyes. But her gem is parallel to Ruby's. And yet she still has one eye. Her one eye and clairvoyant powers are based off Greek/Roman creatures known as
Such as the 3 oracle sisters who shared a single eye.
But it seems like the SU world is around 1990's tech despite being current day.
after watching the special myself I think that Steven will go back to home world through the lion mane\lars hair universe and try to find out about the diamonds but gets caught and is going to have one of the diamonds try to shatter him but because he's half organic\human it doesn't work and the diamonds become fascinated with Steven and decide to study him
SLICE OF OTAKUUU what do u think about the desert temple where rose left her garbage? it looks like Pink Diamond's ship is burried there
i don't think Lars won't be a good kind of human to represent the whole human race. I think that he only wants to survive and leave back home, Steven is the right kind person who can share this kindness or love to the gems on home world.
Now I see why his name is Slice Of Otaku
I'm just imagining how scared Steven and Lars must be right now . . . 😢😢😢
I think that Lars will intrigue them enough to disable the cluster, but than they will see that it won't emerge and then a big war happens.
Wait. How does Lars breathe?
I HAVE HOPE FOR THIS BOY
Maybe Lars will help Steven end the war peacefully so both worlds can peacefully co-exist.
why not pull a bill and ted, say the sand time dial will be retrieved in a hundred years. then go back to hand it over in the past to present self to use it to go back and witness pink diamonds shattering- intervene and bubble her instead and return to the present to use as a peace offering.
Humans and Diamonds are made up of the same basic material, just arranged differently. Isn't carbon also organic?
EDIT: butts.
Fyred Neon No because youre still trying too hard
Fyred Neon I don't have a friend today JUST BECAUSE I ATE KETCHUP LIKE WTF
Robbie Rotten I dont have groups of friends. Im more of a wild card
TokenBlackGuy me too
no
Lars is gonna start war between Homeworld and Earth. Dude is good at FUBAR.
question, how can lars breath let alone not implode on an artificial world like homeworld?
they probably dont have an artificial atmosphere cage like at the zoo because no humans we know of are on the planet itself
Noahmart01 WITH THE POWER OF CARTOON NETWORK!!!
this is pretty unrelated to all the things you have been discussing lately, but i was really wondering: what would garnets role be if she was on homeworld? considering there isnt any gems from homeworld that really represents her well.
otaku isolation does not mean technology stagnation. most technology stagnation is cause by deliberate roadblocks. Take for example china, there smelting guilds would have started the industrially revolution, but the nobles at time saw it a threat against them and crush them. also remember that home-world has a class of scientist at there disposal.
+SliceofOtaku
I would have compared them to sparta. only time anyone could leave was during war. they didn't even have a currency, like (presumingly) gems
Or, lars is just subjected to be examined, observed or worse, experimented. (just my opinion tho)
Who would you choose? White or black gems?
