24:00 Darling Dimitri, you are wrong. The last film got a BP Oscar nomination without an NBR and AFI was Darkest Hour and guess what both The Substance and Darkest Hour have the same producers behind them and Chris you dont do a good job cos you need to search these information first and shut these people up.
@@filmnoirpic Thank you! That's what I've been saying. People only are underestimating it because they want The Substance to get into Best Picture which won't ever happen.
@@drewroddy They do that all the time, that's what makes the Critics Choice Association a foolishly embarrassing awards group because they claim to predict the Oscars when they're just trying to influence the Oscar noms.
@@drewroddy Last year it was hilarious when they nominated two mediocre movies The Color Purple and Saltburn over the better films Anatomy of a Fall and The Zone of Interest and PGA correctly predicted the 10 instead. The CCA has really gone down the crapshoot in recent years.
@@markkwassheree He should win because he does give the better performance but supporting actor is pretty weak this year so maybe it's Kieran by default.
As for the question at 30:30, I don’t think the GGs members watch things with majority minority casts. I realized this when When They See Us got ZERO nominations yet more than 20 Emmy nominations.
Hey Chris, I know you sometimes reply to the comments and I know you said yourself you were ‘antidicting’ her, but do you think Felicity’s chances are over now that she missed the Critics and is not doing very great at the regionals? Or we need to wait for SAG and BAFTA to know about her and other contenders real chances? Thanks :)
The Brutalist has underperformed thus far with regional critics and with some of the guilds (editors, costumes). I do think it's an access/screener issue at the moment. Felicity always felt to me like she was in 4th or 5th and I still have her in there. I think even if she misses SAG, as long as she hits at BAFTA, she'll be okay.
They aren't bashing anybody. Obviously, you're new and/or they don't like your fave(s). At least tell us what got your feelings hurt. Are you still holding a grudge from last year? Perhaps you're that Austin Butler stan? I'm intrigued.
same, for me it shouldn't be nominated for cinematography since the movie have stronger and is more deserving in other categories (like production, costumes, hair & makeup and acting for the girls) but the way people talk about this movie is bothering me so much that now I hope it gets that nom
I have to clap back at your ignorant take on The Holdovers, that performance from Da'Vine Joy Randolph swept the season because she has to channel a lot of grief under sarcasm which is not easy to do. Why do you both not like that well written movie and like both Barbie and American Fiction when the material in those films are so dated with regurgitating themes and talking points that are so on-the-nose due to the way the culture has shifted?
It's time to get quotas into awards nominations, Come On. Maybe it's Just what they see and what they like. I'm ready for the kicks and pulling my hair.
Well you're living in denial, it's definitely getting in because it's a great old fashioned style biopic movie that will be loved in the industry. It's way better than Elvis or Bohemian Rhapsody.
@ryyaannn_ personally I don't care for transitions of Broadway. Think of something original. Plus, not a fan of 2 parts when the musical stage version is less in duration than part 1. $$$$$

James Mangold had delivered Oscar wins for Angelina Jolie, Reese Witherspoon. He also got Ford vs Ferrari into Best Picture.

it would be hilarious if the oscars nominated a director outside of the 8 nominees the CCA tried to make happen in order to be 5/5
They did it two years ago, when they forgot Östlund, although they nominated 10 at the CCA.
Payal Kapadia is happening
