Fun fact for an Englishman - not sure if Aidana told you, the huge building at 8:00 was a government hall back in the soviet post-war era (in 1991, the independence law was signed in this building). Since 2001, this building now serves as the so-called "Kazakh-British Technical University" and works in association with both countries, including partnership with the British Council and the University of London.

Beshbarmak is usually lamb or mutton. Kazakhs will serve Kazy (horse sausage) along side beshbarmak. Beshbarmak literally means “five fingers” because you use the blanket noodles to wrap the meat with your fingers and eat without silverware!

Love Almaty from Kashmir. Have been to this extremely beautiful city in 2018 and I really liked it. Liked for its immensely beautiful roads, parks, old and new buildings, well maintained bazaars and last but not the least its people. Almaty is a full package for a tourist. The hill side is not too far from the city. I enjoyed watching mesmerising view of the city from Tok Tobe. I would love to visit Almaty again if given a chance.
LOVE Almaty - I was there a week or two ago and I really want to go back and spend more time there! Did you make it to some of the nature spots? I went to the Assy Plateau and it was beautiful! I'll have a video about it on my channel soon :)
I miss Kz. I spent 60 days in Tengiz then another two weeks visiting Uralsk, Aktobinsk, Almaty, and Taldykorgan. Then took a flight on a sketchy old Russian jet to Astana (what's the new name?). While in Almaty I went up to the ski resort and the smell of the mountains made me homesick for the first time. I need to visit again before I forget all the words. All I can remember now is: Karley tan, Rachmet, Berkut, and Shoobat. Mmmm... yummy shoobat.
The fruit you didn’t know before is called: “Green Gooseberry.” Flavor of Gooseberries ranges from quite sour to relatively sweet-a little bit like, slightly, underripe grapes.
Lovely introduction to Almaty, it’s a beautiful city, very cosmopolitan, great food, coffee and above all lovely people. As you say you only scratch the surface, the art museum is amazing as are the Tian Shan mountains nearby. Highly recommend visiting this beautiful city!
In addition, we have mountains with snow-white peaks up to 7 thousand meters above sea level. In the Medeu gorge there is the highest mountain skating rink on which more than 8 thousand world records have been made. Above is the Chimbulak ski resort at an altitude of 3.5 thousand meters. A cable car leads to it.

I'm from the UK and even I know that those berries were gooseberries. My grandmother used to have a gooseberry bush in her back garden and she used to make gooseberry crumble with them.
Hasn’t anybody else noticed the stunning beauty he has for a guide?
Hello from Alaska! Thanks for the fun video. I absolutely love your guide's smile.
Wow.So beautiful people, very attractive.Greetings from Ukraine with love.My sister living in Almaty😘😀🥰
Looks great country and generous people. Love from Pakistan 💚
Yea kazakhstan looks one of the most country, BUT it's the normal reaction. In real its not very good, Kazakhstan have more bad things too...
@@crew4495 i live here too :)
Thank you Jason. Nice video, LOVE Almaty.
Beshbarmak is usually lamb or mutton. Kazakhs will serve Kazy (horse sausage) along side beshbarmak. Beshbarmak literally means “five fingers” because you use the blanket noodles to wrap the meat with your fingers and eat without silverware!
It’s great that you visited these places, but honestly you should have gone to see Almaty mountains, they are breathtaking:)
Honestly you should not give him any suggestions about any other destinations. The reason is that he has own directions and the places which doesnt make a sense to follow someone's ideas. End of story
The name of that fruit is gooseberry , btw nice video.
Watching this from Almaty's sister city Tucson, Arizona. Thanks for posting.
So nice country and people 💓 from Philippines🇵🇭🇵🇭🇵🇭 💓 🇰🇿
LOVE Almaty - I was there a week or two ago and I really want to go back and spend more time there! Did you make it to some of the nature spots? I went to the Assy Plateau and it was beautiful! I'll have a video about it on my channel soon :)
Hello, I am from Almaty.
You have influenced me..Kazakhstan is on my checklist...
Have you been here already?
Borat would really be proud of this!!
Thank you for sharing , loved the video, interesting city, beautiful local lady, Safe Travels! From Washington DC.
Hope it was just a tiny part of what u could manage to visit in Almaty. Since it has more places which are really superb
Love the market, Fresh fruits and dry fruits
MA SHA ALLAH good place.... from Pakistan

hello dear greetings from peru
The fruit you didn’t know before is called: “Green Gooseberry.” Flavor of Gooseberries ranges from quite sour to relatively sweet-a little bit like, slightly, underripe grapes.
All foods are organic in Kazakhstan. Groceries produce meat everything absolutely organic.
аха капец все organic .в каком Казахстане ты живешь интересно
What?😂😂😂was that a joke
Leylatun именно..
Қойшы тегі) қатырдың. прям органик аха щас)
Китайские фрукты..ммм... этот деликатный вкус пластмассы
I was too in Almaty . I Love this City 😄
Hi Jason & 1NSOU1 thank for taking a short tour of cool city Almaty
Enjoyable , nicely presented video, but surprised that you have never seen a 'goosegog' before.
I miss my homeland :( thanks for videos!!!!
Laura Dossova where do you live now ?
Kazakstan, I love you, from indonesia street foods
That green colored fruit is Amla. Rich in vitamin C and tangy in taste.
I had those "grape-like" things growing in my yard and we call them Gooseberries
