    some programs, like Columbia and Hopkins, have accelerated masters program for non-nursing grads that doesn’t necessarily require students to go into the np program. For the one that I applied to, Columbia, you can finish the accelerated MDE in 15 months and graduate with an MSN degree. With this MSN, you can sit to take the NCLEX to become an RN. After this program, you can either go into their PHd NP program, doctorate NP program, or choose to have MSN as your terminal degree and practice as an RN. I believe Hopkins is some what similar. These masters direct entry programs are basically the same as the ABSN program, in terms of the time it takes to finish the program, except that with the masters direct entry, you will graduate with a masters degree rather than another bachelors.

      Thank you so much for your input! I really love all the flexibility that these degree programs provide! You're definitely not "stuck" with only becoming an NP. I know a few people who have changed their MSN focus to education instead. There are so many options are available. Thank you for watching!

      Not only that. But, in my opinion, if you’re an employer and you have 3 newly grad applicants (one with associates, one with bachelors, and one with a master) which one would be more competitive? Maybe it might not matter so much between someone with a bachelors and masters but it’ll definitely matter between those two and someone with an associates degree. But then again I’m only saying this to appeal to those who already have a bachelors degree and want to become an Rn. If you don’t have a degree then this doesn’t completely apply to you.

    So I’m doing a 360. I’ve finished a B.S. in Environmental Science, and I am interested in opening a medical spa one day but I feel so lost in this new world of medicine, How would I go about it if in the end goal I’d like to have an MD to eventually own the practice? Which of these would be the best for me? Thank you anyone! Making the most of my lemonade.

    • @TheDanielleDenise
      @TheDanielleDenise  4 роки тому

      Yessss, follow your dreams! I'll try to give you a quick rundown based on your end goal of owning a medical spa. Now, depending on where you live you can own your own medical spa as an NP, I know of two who opened their own, but one opened one here in California ( we can't necessarily own our own practice here ) however if its a business you can still own your business, you would just need a collaborating physician, but that's if you choose to stick with NP. If you want to be an M.D. I would say start prepping for med school ASAP, because of how long the process is.

    • @TheDanielleDenise
      @TheDanielleDenise  5 років тому +3

      Thank you for watching! So for CRNA, it gets tricky because they're so picky with those programs and in most cases, at the minimum, they expect you to have at least 1-3 years of experience in the ICU before applying. So this is my recommendation, and you do not have to follow this, but I would say do an ABSN so you can start working and getting that experience in and then start applying to CRNA programs. I hope that helps!

    • @TheDanielleDenise
      @TheDanielleDenise  4 роки тому +1

      Hey! Thanks for watching and thanks for your question! So if you choose an ELMSN similar to mine you'll take the NCLEX first, which is needed to become an RN before you move on to NP or CRNA. YOu can definitely work as a nurse after that and take your time to see which field you want to go into. If you do a straight to NP MSN only program you'll already be committed to the track you choose before you start. You wont have to worry about NP or CRNA boards until the very end of your program. I'd go with an ABSN and work a little until you see what you want, you dont have to choose that but it's an option! Best of luck!

    • @TheDanielleDenise
      @TheDanielleDenise  5 років тому

      Hi!! I would say take your time and really map out a plan. Try to base your decision on what will be financially appropriate for your situation. You can get an ADN-RN and it can take less time, cost less, but you might make a little less than someone who got their BSN. But if that the case and you want more, you can always go back and do an RN to BSN program after you've already started working in the field and making money. This is just an example and it applies to each level. Honestly, continue to research and try to plan accordingly to your financial situation. There are many options to become a nurse!
