Many decades back we didn't have sliced bread. Mother used to cut the bread in chunks dipped in egg n milk wash fried n sprinkled grain sugar.That taste cannot be forgotten. That was a quick treat for a guest .

Made the recipe today! Yummy! Added cinnamon and powder sugar. Didn’t use the bread crumbs. Also, my bread isn’t as thick even with two slices 😢 but still came out good! 😊

Whenever I make French toast for my niece, I cut off the crust and make that into French toast fingers so I don't waste it. It's a convenient size to eat while I'm busy or fun for her to dip if she's wants more after she's finished with her own French toast.

Nice recipe! Be nice if you melted cinnamon sugar and vanilla and mixed that into the eggs and some butter too, using that, then top with little maple syrup optionally.
Also like the idea of using the crust as something like croutons. Might try this with ezekial bread or almond bread i make!

You can add cinnamon powder along with nutmeg powder to give a nice fruity flavour. It helps kills the eggy smell and top it with vanilla custard , with blue berries and strawberries.
Or, just use fresh eggs. If yours are smelly, then they are rotten and spoiled.
Add a splash of vanilla extract too!

Bake it in the oven for 5 minutes after removing it from the pan.
The part that most of don’t do is allow the bread time to really soak up the egg mixture, which will result in a more fluffy look like this, and maybe some cinnamon and raisins to kick it up
once I did that but the result was bad.inside was soaky.then I started only brushing the outer surface.
