The most important decision you need to make when you join Kungen's raid is what you want to name your next character.
he puts in alot of time and effort to die
Kungen might be the worst long standing wow player of all time. I’ve seen people that burned a token freshly at 80 run better in a raid
@@KodamaoftheWeastTree Dude's still a legend, but maybe hc isnt his strong suit lol
@@PrankCallFan845he takes too many risks which is obviously not the move for HC. Great for progression.
@@Metalbladelawncare But I feel like most of his clips it's not even his fault. I think I've only seen one clip where it was kinda his fault, that time he over pulled in Uldaman. I think Kungen is just cursed.
Playing hardcore, getting to 60, getting geared and then wiping on trash because people aren't paying attention is beyond crazy.
You can still transef to normal classic for free
bro, thats not worth anything lets be real@@helloman5576
@@LoveAnimeLikeCrazy true..
Dude I tried Hardcore on D2 and D4 both times made it pretty deep and died to bullshit. Vowed both times to never play Hardcore in my life. I played vanilla wow until shadowlands (that's when me and gf switched to FFXIV and never looked back) I would never, ever, even if you paid me play classic hardcore. Even if you were one of the best players on your server in vanilla like I was you would still die from time to time to some bs. There is no way I would do hardcore.

Asmongold giving commentary on Hardcore deaths is like watching sports highlights.
From someone who hasn't even participated in the sport. XD
@@gasser5001so yeah sports highlights
passing commentary without even playing... we know why.. asmon would die before 60
Thats why I'm here and I wasn't even playing WoW at the time. I haven't played since MoP but have rejoined since discovering Asmon.
@@SnoreProtection that doesn't matter, it's all about the backseat 20/20 hindsight what goes wrong and what should have been done and that's what makes this funny
I'll never forget my very first dungeon in any MMO, ever....Blackfathom Deeps. WoW was still new and I had never played in a group before. I was a NE Druid healer. Whoever those other players were, they were extremely nice and helpful, guiding me through my first experience as a healer. I was hooked on MMO games after that. And the atmosphere of that dungeon, at the time, blew me away.
BFD
People have saved me multiple times and vice versa on HC. Great challenge with a very helpful community.
Holy shit are you me? Exact same story.
Mine was deadmines, I got kicked because I needed every green item not knowing what I was doing. My friend in the group at the time had to try and explain but I was only 10 xD
@@bw0mp3r44I love randomly coming across a stranger that’s clearly fucked and saving them…only for them to abandon you and you die instead 😂
When ever I looked at the death logs, I always wondered how any one dies to a barrens giraffe. I thought they were trolling for lolz. Yesterday, I died to a barrens Giraffe. I can’t live with the shame anymore.
It happened to me as well but with Kobolt Miners in Elwyn forest. Before trying HC, I was like theres no way people are dying to these, lmao

Never played a day in my life but these "series" of HC fails is just amazing.
wait...if you never played ANY version of WoW, how can you understand anything when Asmon explains stuff or mocks other players for their fails and deaths in HC...? Even a person who played only retail in his life would probably not understand everything about the gameplay and mechanics of HC WoW I think...for example I did play vanilla WoW back then and classic recently too, but even I didn't fully understand what happened at 20:00 when that tank was teleported back to the boss while falling down (even with the explanation of Asmon...) 😅
seeing ppl fail is funny. don't need to play wow to appreciate that.
@KrangShreddy I used to do QA for Red5/Firefall the Free Form (none tab target) MMO that ex-Blizzard devs made, I was a huge fan of the game as well so MMO lango overlaps (or roots from) WoW. True for many games but yes it'd be twice as funny if I knew more of the exact references.
I also know what it's like to have 1,000+ hours in a game and still drop the ball on a raid, just not to point that'd I'd lose progression.
@Fryepod3628 You are blessed by the universe more than you know. I played this stupid game (not hardcore) on and off for 14 years. It was like alcohol. I would quit for 3 years, then some friend would ask me to help teach him the game and off I went. The level 1-60 was fun but then everything changes. It goes from being a game to a job to daily social torture playing with people who were too hardcore mixed with clowns who were drunk and "there to have fun" by getting all of us killed after a 4 hour raid. Enjoy these videos knowing that you never had to go through this kind of stuff. Edit: I envy you, man.
@@Krang_e_Shreddy I play everquest and it's like 90% the same. pretty easy to understand these clips.
That batgasm guy who stood in a fucking poison cloud.
He spams general with the ttv link. Deserved
@10:20 dude talking about Miss PIggy and Kermit, and yet he's the muppet standing in green.
Clever. Great YT comment..
44:23 For you, it was the worst day of your entire life playing a healer in hardcore WoW. But for him, it was Tuesday
43:59 i feel bad for the healer man, working overtime for this team. there should be a bounty system for deserters, you get marked and players can just hunt you down.
“Why would you press a button if you can sit there and do nothin’” bars
The reason you see so many paladin tanks in hardcore is that most of the characters that make it to high level are bubblers, not 'guess i'll die' warriors. The selection process only leaves paladins behind.
True. There are many options for warriors to level more easily, but that still does not eliminate the fact that paladins have way better survival toolkit than warriors do.
These sub-60 HC deaths kill me. Having played years of D2/D3 hardcore, I can't believe the risks people are willing to take. The lack of failsafes. The lack of backup plans. The blind, irrational panic when things get slightly off-plan. Not knowing/researching key fights or mobs when all of that info is on the internet. The entire mode is basically a risk management simulator... winners want boring and predictable.
Running with a paladin tank in classic is harder than with a warrior tank, but sometimes you just don't have a choice. And sometimes, well... most of the times you have to go with a paladin or a druid because all of the warriors are busy crying about wanting to dps instead of tanking because that would require them to think.
Yeah, I was thinking that. Even paladin tanks will say that tanking in hardcore as a paladin should not be done, but, I can think of ways that it might be the best option people have in certain situations. Don't know of it would be better to just not do the dungeon at all if you cant get a warrior, but if you are confident that your pally tank can indeed get you through the instance, well, then I hope you really do know what they are doing.
You always have the choice to say no
I tanked as paladin in hardcore from deadmines to BRD. I'll go ahead and mention pally tanks in dungeons (not raids) are the best. I'm currently level 60 on my hardcore paladin not to mention I did it all as holy spec.
The single greatest thing about Hardcore was that it got me back into regular, non-Hardcore vanilla. I am now having the most fun I've had in years in Wow just playing vanilla classic. I would never have tried classic if it weren't for hardcore, but hardcore made me realize... Wow, I'd love to be able to just do whatever dungeon I'd like without worrying about dying... or I wish I could just take the talents I want instead of the best talents for survival... so now I am a full classic andy thanks to HC. Still love retail, but rn classic is the play and it is a blast. Thanks Hardcore
36:15 I played with harry pooter in tbc classic. he was the leader forming a group for kara maybe and people in the group kept reporting his name and we watched him have to change it like 5 times in a row, the first 3 he was dead set on having some sort of poop related harry potter name
14:10 When you have 5 keybinds and one of them is hamstring on W and you are still clicking it! GENIUS
Do I just not understand something here... I am a tank, Guardian Druid. The first thing I do, ALWAYS, is face the boss away from the group, regardless if they have cleave or not, because the damage is greater from the back.
No you are right. In fact attacking from the front with melee dps risks parries which increase the damage the tank takes. Unless that wasn't a thing in classic.
Yeah it doesn't even matter if the boss has a cleave, face them away from the rest of the group lol.
@@ruukinen its very much a thing in classic. so much so that its actually worse than in other iterations of the game.
6:16 Bro... The only mechanic on Nathanos is if ANYONE heals he spawns like 2 skeles per tick of heal, totally the fault of healers who healed. He doesnt have a lot of hp just nuke with raid and he hits like a wet poolnoodle.
For some reason almost nobody knows that healing spawns the skeletons.
wrong. literally read 20 year old wowhead comments and they will also say that he spawns them regardless of healing.
I can't believe people do any HC content without looking up what the enemies do...
@@drafman1 People playing 20 years ago were even more clueless than modern Classic players lol
It's very possible he still spawns skeletons at a much lower rate regardless of any healing, but it's wayyy more likely that people in the raid were just popping random heals without knowing any better and that was spawning skeles.
Again it's any ticks of healing so that includes stuff like self-heals from damage abilities or gear and all sorts of niche stuff.
I remember dungeons in Wow Vanilla. You'd use crowd control and do LoS pulls. DPS down enemies one at a time, re-apply CC when it broke. Heal before the next mob group.
This is people who played later version of WoW and forgot the most basic of mechanics from the original game.
"I DID A RETAIL THING" lmfao i need that on a shirt

11:30 he wouldve never noticed, hes the type of dps to stand in fire and then rage about not being healed enough
Hard-core wow seems like a legit exhilarating gaming experience.
I played for two weeks in original burning crusade.
It’s actually top tier.
It is at first. Until leveling starts to slow down in the 20s and pulls get larger. Then it's a decision between taking no risk (think: spending hours killing green mobs over and over again, no questing) or taking some risk by questing and dying to a RNG.
Here we go again…
The videos are getting longer tho ❤

I havent played WoW in 4 years, I have never played Classic... But I LOVE this hardcore death compilations
We need the HC raid leader, who died valiantly on the last boss from the other day to start teaching these HC Raid Leaders what to do...
Amphy the raidlead is an exemplar of calm and focus
Amphy literally died because somebody else fucked up the ice tombe mechanic
@@ventu7907 yea he did. Someone didn’t kick it and he paid the ultimate price, but he still lead them to a victory
@@CakeNinjaGaming what really led them to victory is the nature of the ez mode that comes with playing alliance... paladin blessings (BoW and BoS in particular) + marbles + fear ward is literally borderline softcore... try to do this as horde and see how far you get without your perma 20% threat reduction + 10% all stats + 25% increased boss miss chance, numerous fear wards and in turn you get spike aggro from WF and no BoPs.
@@ZugzugZugzugson i would 100% jump back into classic and do Hardcore on horde for this.
btw the hunter at around 40 minutes used feign, standing up too fast is not how the ability works for everyone who thought that, it got resisted so the pack continued to chase him, cheetah into petri was a good save
They walk among us. They live!
@21:34 I love that RatIRL came back to life to give us one clip with Asmon on WoW. RIP Earl...
I was watching the vid in background while questing and I got my spider senses tingling because I've heard rat but didn't watch league video lol
It's not, "Turn her away." It's, "Get her out." It's a whirlwind she does, not a conal or chain cleave.
if you analyse the last fight in the video, you'll see that Jammys (paladin healer) uses Lay on hand on pull almost, whiwh causes him to have almost no mana after a mana pot. Really bad pull etc. tank sucks probably
that MC wipe felt like the real 2005 MC pug experience.
I was expecting someone to get knocked into the lava.
38:40 I remember this time during Wraith when I played so much I, a healer shaman, was capable of fighting warlocks to a standstill.
That boss in Dire Maul West is impossible to tank as a paladin without someone dying. He drops aggro so much.
Just time your hits with the aggro drop. If you can't do that, you're not a tank. You're just some memebaby furry warrior.
As a paladin. How the hell would I be doing it as a fury warrior. He drops aggro on the tank and you have no taunt.
Was looking for this comment, yeah I found this out in my first run during classic launch, had a paladin tank and my DPS warrior ended up tanking this boss for that reason.
Yeah, definitely one of those fights that makes tanking with a paladin very scary and questionable. Gotta have the proper precautions and brain IF you decide you need to have a pally tank for this boss.
Imagine not CCing in Classic Hardcore!
*watches them all die*
I guess I didn't have to imagine after all!
My first raid ever was in EverQuest 1, it took the whole damn day. I left my guild and just went shadow knight and stayed content being a solo nomad.
Yes, they walk among us, as Asmon says, and sure, you get a brain dead in the group from time to time. But there are also brave players like williamhc and his team that dont flinch. im so proud when i think back gotten to play with such kind of ppl through sketchy situations. no one's panicking. Just good gameplay. thats what makes hardcore so good.
This content is so funny, every time i watch when the next clip avalible is. But the 'lava jumpers' a few clips ago was the most funny thing i ever seen 😂
Currently 49 on my first HC warrior wanna go the Tank Route. Im pretty confident with the normal dungeons but didnt do the raids so i dont know the abilities and their nuances. Gonna be scary
23:38 is such a heartbreaker
The more of these that I watch, the more I realize that Classic WoW is just a giant Dunning Kruger effect full of people that can't figure out how push doors work.
26:48 He was not holding shift he was just spamming 'h' because it is a lowercase letter. We also don't see the little animation around the icon that lights up when pressing. He literally forgot to hold lshift.
Very correct regarding Paladins in Vanilla Wow. Hpal is extremely overpowered and is the X factor in Raids and BGs. I rolled a Ret in 2019 and was pumping 440 dps in like full MC BIS. My bro had a warrior that was very undergeared and was doing double the dps I was. I rerolled Rogue immediately after that raid and didn't go back to my pally until TBC Classic. Side note, one time in WSG with my Ret Pally I killed 3 Warriors in about 15 seconds. The hunter that watched couldn't believe it was possible. I play Warrior on Whitemane Classic Era and avoid pallies in the bgs unless I know they have popped their bubble already.
Paladin was my ultimate favorite bg toon. Many moons ago.
Makes me sad to see Classic Paladins, they were such a broken class. Loved them in Wrath onward.
I never played WoW but I still find this entertaining. Thanks for explaining some stuff.
Dwarfhunterxd has got to be my favorite clip so far. Under a level away from feign death too
8:22 I've tanked most level 60 content as a pally tank in SoM. There are some fights that are nearly impossible for a pally to control without a taunt. Prince in DMW is one of them. He's got a threat reset which will get dps killed.
Tank it with ret prot and warrior tanking gear instead of consecration, that will give you higher single target damage and threat. And for god's sake use gbok if you have extra mana/gcds
My group has been leveling with our paladin tanking and the warrior dpsing, but we know the warrior has to pick up mobs that need taunting. It does make aoe stuff much easier, and all those fun disarm mechanics in early dungeons don't matter as much.
That MC clip had 17 deaths. From a single miss-pull and no banish before even the first boss.
I used to play lots of hardcore on hydraxian waterlords realm. My worst/scariest dungeon experiments were always with the pala tanks, they just cannot hold any aggro. Always tried to avoid them.
Best tanks in vanilla by far are Warrior, Druid, and then the Voidwalker pet in that order. Then maybe Paly, idk.
warr > Druid >voidwalker > gorilla hunterpet > turtle hunterpet >>>paladin @@KodamaoftheWeastTree
@@tiyangina3571 dude facts
I played a pally tank to 60 in SoM, mainly for the challenge, and I agree completely. You need to do everything you can just to be viable, usually overgearing instances by a huge amount. Using +spell damage gear and stacking consumes like arcane elixirs, frost oil, gift of arthas and even dragonbreath chilli for additional threat. Plus the pace can be really slow with the constant drinking.
@@tiyangina3571 Where in that ranking do you see shaman tanks? I've seen one in a 5-man dungeon (not max level though).
Not enough people know how to function under intense pressure, that's my only takeaway from these Classic HC vids asmon's putting out.
As a fellow priest, I felt those deaths so hard. That sucks man.
lmao may these Asmon HC videos never end
U name it🎉
I've done a lot of MC back in vanilla days (that and ZG for the most part) and as a warlock main I always banished these. Lava surger has a very annoying knockback effect and one of them used to be pretty annoying to deal with, let alone two. It's pretty impressive how these people are doing 20 year old content and not being able to do the most basic, trivial stuff.
Asmngol screaming Roach roach is hilarious
These daily vids cured my addiction to caffeine, cured my cancer, and made me forget my PTSD.
"I did a retail thing". When the thing he did only happens in Classic WoW.
lmfao great compilation, the paladin in the last clip was a hero... 😭
28:15 you se Stitches, it's like aight, that's an omen 😂😂😂
I have never played WoW, but I fully believe that it is an accurate simulation of the grief of loosing a loved one in a freak accident. People put so much time into these characters, just for them to die to Agro out of the blue.
I think in 5 man content in hardcore, ret paladins are okay because they offer "oh shit" utility that other melee DPS simply doesn't - bubble, lay on hands, cleanse, etc. That's not to deny the fact that other melee DPS offer something ret paladins dont though - DPS.
Ret are really op, if they know what they can do
Yeah, one could argue the players would not be in a shitty situation to begin with if the mobs just died faster anyway
Unless I'm mistaken ret paladins do actually do decent dps in dungeons until you get close to max level don't they?
honestly rets damage isnt that bad until their shit scaling comes into play at 60. Like yeah its always less, but not as much as you'd think before people start gearing up.
you'd get the same "Oh shit" utility if you just took a pally healer tho lol
LOL I was waiting for Asmon reaction hahahahahah I was the stupid tank that listen to the rogue to pull it into that room. I forgot that your suppose to tank those on the ramp but its been awhile and i forgot lol
That first group got reverse AOE farmed, quite funny.
11:37 --- I remember those clouds...
Never thought I would see locks in MC not constantly banishing everything smh...
that first one the raid, never seen a raid all die that fast. unbelievable failure
“If you die in the game, you die in real life,” Oculus creator Palmer Luckey said of his new VR headset packed with explosives."
Dear streamers, you know what to do
Only way a Pally can tank in Classic is by the party going super slow on dps, and there also being no spikes where a lot of healing has to happen early and also not stupid random mob draws. If those three conditions are not met, its party wipe.
I think I would break 100 keyboards dying in hardcore WoW so I get my fix by watching asmon ridicule the fools that do 😂
omg the person who lost their char to the wifi box being disconnected when you told them not to i feel you 😭
That one made me upset too, how some people literally have *ZERO* respect for others and genuinely don't care about the in the slightest, because it doesn't affect THEM negatively.
"Oh, sorry for destroying days / weeks of your efforts, by *doing that one thing I clearly knew to not do* (but since I didn't give a sht I did it anyways lol)."
The level of ignorance is so much off the charts, it is malicious intent at that point.
To not even consider talking to the person first, before crossing the line of doing it. That is the stuff that gives me trust issues, when someone deliberately ignores even such a simple wish in such a blatant way without any consideration about my reasons.
I wonder what happened in that LBRS, warrior had fear on cooldown so i have an idea why they had so many mobs chase them
That guy getting killed by the rogue quest boxes is a half of fame level death
6:45 yes, kite them AWAY from the tank, so its harder for them to get agro of them.
That first raid wipe they had locks like you said i don't get it .
I avoided grouping with pally tanks on my second hunter and its nice to be proven right a few times here
I am an absolute paladin fan and even I agree. You CAN do it, but it doesn't mean it is good, yes.
The mechanics and gear is just not existing to do it, sadly.
No taunt.
No skills that generate bonus aggro that is not dependant on spell damage (like sunder armor, for example).
No gear for higher levels with defense rating (restricted to warrior class - so you are forced to drop the tank role sooner or later anyways).
Talents that save mana are negatively impacting each other (reduce mana cost and get mana back - so you get less mana back for cost reduction).
And overall just an aggro system, that exclusively relies on spell damage and no damage mitigation skills for active use.
The only cool thing is: Blocking! Paladins are block monsters and damage reflect + consecration AoE is a good combination, but it is more useful for many mobs that are soft hitters.
As soon as damage spikes become the issue, without any active mitigation skills that you can controll you just have to take them.
Plus: support skills become less useful, as you can't really support heal yourself or bubble as a tank (I mean, you can, but you will eat more damage if you cast a healing spell).
It is just not there (the mechanics, skills, gear, how everything works together)
Yeah totally. I think end game dungeons, pally tanks become reeeally sketch. However, I think at lower levels, even it is still not as good, it is not that bad. I felt Asmon went to hard on the pally tank that was doing scarlet monastery, and when he said that groups with pally tanks deserve to die even though this group was doing it in lower level dungeons, I felt Asmon deserved to watch the group live.
Twenty people in the raid and not a single one of them knew that Nathanos spawns skellies whenever anyone receives healing of any sort, even as tiny as a warrior healing 20 HP per bloodthirst hit. Not a single person even bothered to Wowhead it even is pretty well...
33:04 this is one of the theoretical problems with time travel.
5:40 if you look closely they had THREE shamans but ZERO FIRE RESESTANCE TOTEMS if they would've had atleast 1 or 2 they would survive 😂
I've seen so many of these that I'm starting to understand who to look out for, especially kungen

@@garrymullinsthanks for the analysis of what happened.
I was curious, but watching on my phone I was just like "no way I am trying to figure this out on that little screen right now".
Also, it's funny how you describe *what* happened and someone feels the need to respond who is at fault, even though you didn't say anything for or against the player 😅
The worst part about the 29 hunter dying in duskwood was the fact that they were 29. One more level and you get Feign Death. So close.
He learned it the hard way😅
13:31 pro tip. Turn nameplates on and change key bind.
16:40 Facing this boss away doesn't prevent cleave, you have to pull the boss away from the ranged. The ability is whirlwind, not cleave.
this is my favorite video series
in that MC raid WTF were the heals? i watched back the clip and yes they were gettin AOE damage but it looked like NOBODY was getting heals at all
The knockback from the surgers interrupts casts. Two of them are basically chain interrupts
when he talked about nameplates i genuinely didnt realise that he was sarcastic at first lol
On the High Priestess fight it wasn't the tank that dies fault it was the other tank. You can see when she comes out of the pounce the other tank had aggro be cause he was at half health from taking 2 autos didn't face her away and the other tank taunted to face her away. At that time the cleave is already queued up to cleave them twice which made healers not be able to heal the tank that taunted because they were dying. Kind of fucked that the worst player gets to survive while the guy trying to help out gets fucked.
Asmon crying about paladin tanks is my favorite. He malds so much.
Doom guy’s face when he dies to standing in a poison cloud is epic… reminds me of a prawnstar babe pretending it’s the biggest one they have ever seen.
the first clip: in vanilla classic our guild did MC every week almost up until nax trying to farm TF's. Obviously this raid leader didn't do that because they would have never made that mistake if they'd raid lead (or just tanked) a couple weeks in MC 😅. Very basic mistakes, pulling the extra pack, not banishing, not having an OT ready to pick it up and pull it out of the raid, etc. Frankly that's a pull where it's worth just clicking 40 sappers rather then screwing around with.
I remember vanilla 2004-5 when I saw any like that happening at all i instantly banished as my main Warlock back then. I remember how good banish was here. Also my big memory was "Garr" having to void tank the spawn and banish.
I also love Zul'Gurub. One of my most favorite raids.
lmfao the "I did a retail thing" is so funny, you just know
The NELF warrior in LBRS was using his keybind correctly. He typed a lower case h into the field because he had capslock on. He shoulda refreshed earlier or spammed much harder.
I'm not the biggest wow raid expert, but I've raided a lot at the highest level in other mmos (especially in Lotro). And i feel sad for the druid healer who dies because of healing aggro. I couldn't really see the situation. But most of the time it is other people's fault when the healer is dead. I don't know what options the healer has in wow, but in other mmos you definitely have the option to reduce your healing aggro with items or skills. and my experience is that if you have a really strong healer, you need a damn good tank. he can draw more aggro than a damage dealer. And sometimes bosses also have abilities where the tank instantly loses aggro for a few seconds or where the boss specifically attacks individual players. but like I said, I'm not a wow raid expert, but I feel bad for the druid. rest in peace
That boss spawns 2 mobs whenever you cast a heal. You’re supposed to pre Hot before the fight and nuke the boss. He was in moonkin form; it’s for dps but you are able to heal. It’s their own fault.
Yeah that one was actually the healer's fault. That enemy has low HP and his only real mechanic is that he spawns skeleton adds for every tick of healing anyone in the raid does. So any amount of healing thrown out better be necessary, or preferrably just avoided altogether by burning him down first. If there's a bunch of healing going out then there's no way to keep aggro for all of the adds. And judging by the amount of skeletons there, there was a lot of healing going out.
With my mind's eye I allow myself to indulge in a fantasy where the last healer meant it literarily when he put his _crosshair_ over the warrior's unimaginatively stupid, griefing shell of a head.
N.b. "petrification" means turning into stone, just sayin'...
Its like watching a slow motion train derailment, love it
