I just find it so utterly amazing that a song that nobody did know of or remember for over 30 years suddenly receives so much recognition. Great stuff, guys. If the band is ever found I'd like to see their humbling expression on their faces when they realize what a legacy their seeming "throw-away" song has become.
Mannequin Man lets not draw assumptions, nobody knows how many members were in this band and there’s gotta be at least someone still alive from the group that recorded this. If not then I’m sure there’s people who knew the members of the band and would recognize this.
@@Mr.Obongo I think you're right. I believe the mystery will be solved when a friend or family member of the band comes forward someday with an old recording of a rehearsal or performance. It's unlikely the band members are alive or they probably would have been found by now.
They JUST found the original song yesterday, and man, the way the lyrics mutated from the OG "Subways of Your Mind" by FEX to the covers everyone made where we only had that one garbled recording to go off of, it's amazing.
The fact that "Blowin' from somewhere - let a smile be your companion" became "You're gonna suffer - let us drown in your own failure"... crazy in hindsight, but it was anyone's guess at the time.
It is not uncommon for groups, known and unknown, to write and perform demo songs that never make it to an album. They are left on a studio tape and some lucky sap finds them and disseminates them. Asia had more than a few songs not found anywhere, and I would imagine there are far more.

Subways of Your Mind...
I’ve been listening to this song since the mid-‘80’s, and never knew the words. Thanks Guys! U2 Rocks. Check out their other song, called New Year’s Day. Adam Clayton is a Legend.
I had conferred with an autonomous intelligent entity that watched me play guitar. this very enigmatic being borrowed my fretting hand while i was playing guitar and played riffs that opposed my own personal riffs. We traded back and forth and eventually i realized it was a romantic experience. one of which would be considered taboo but I didn't care in the moment. we harmonized together and had an existential love experience.

Someone on Reddit figured out these guys could be - if not dead - badly drunk living in the streets of... who knows? It gave me thrills!!
Yeah, the band is probably dead with the shear age of the song

I halfway expected them to both sing the chorus at the end, and the harmonies still surprised me.
Just to let you know, guys - the song itself and a short part of your cover have been featured on Ukrainian Televison.

Please keep it uploadet this way! Its realy nice to see, how the Song evolve - part of the history.
They look so much like Eric and Donna from the 70's show, that it's my headcanon that this is them writing TMS in college in the 80s.
Love this. Its nuts how this song became a anthem for us music misfits, pre written and giving to us like a mysterious box on our door step.
She and her voice are wonderful.
Wow! Such an amazing version! Thanks guys for sharing it with the world!
How about giving this song another shot since we have a clear version now with more clear lyrics

how come this is the second channel to pop up just to make a cover of this song and then never post again. it really adds to the mystery lol.

Since the actual artist has been found now along with a clearer recording of the lyrics, you two should re-cover this song with the correct lyrics.
Brilliant. On a side note, more should be done to track down the author!
The song has been found!
What if the track name is actually "The most Mysterious Song" and the artist is called "On the Internet"
Dows anyone have the chords here that they used? I cant figure out what the chorus ones are by eye.
Am i the only one who actually hears "BLIND THE WIND" in the original version? Btw this song is so cool
Some lyrics site put that instead of "like the wind"
Nop
The teen who recorded it and other songs off the radio way back in the 1980s listed it as "blind the wind" on his mix tape.
It was recorded in 1986, Winden, Germany
