@Samuel Fita 5W40 is better than 5W30 as above for summer and cars that produce a lot of power/turbo etc. Now 0W40 will protect better during startup in cold better than 5W40 due to its viscosity. Of course you need to look into spec sheets etc to compare, but generally first number (0 or 5) is for the cold and the second number (30 or 40) for when the oil is up to running temps.
@@bmbl80 No. FORGET "summer" - the 30/40 refer to the oil's viscosity within it's operating temperature, which is between 100ºC and 120ºC . It refers to the oil's viscosity rating at operating temperature (which is set to 100ºC or 212ºF) 40 is better for cars with a tonne of HP, as it has a thicker, more protecting oil film. @Taha Anwar I would definitely recommend 5w40 to minimize Toyota vvti rattle in summer because it does make a difference with respect to engine noise and film thickness. A part from that, If you do not exceed 3000 RPM quite often / 90 C coolant temperature under load you can opt to use 5w30 unless you hear vvti rattle, hydraulic lifters or timing chain tensioner etc sounds in engine. Don't go for 5w50 it won't serve the purpose because its viscosity is too thick to provide enough lubrication under load and worsen fuel economy also. Since you said the temperature is 40°C in summer where you live, 5W‐40 might be the better choice because the oil is more viscous at high temperature than 5W-30.
