G-Virus, you're talking about X-link Kai right?! I know this is a year old but perhaps you could help me my dude. Me and my bro played all three of TS games on PS2 and we both fucking love the franchise (whats up with TS: Rewind right!?) till this day. Do I need a fat ps2 with the hard drive or will my slim ps2 work? I just need my PS2, a laptop, and a ethernet cable right!? Which TS do I need? 2 or future perfect? Really want relive some childhood memories with the bro online!
I just want 2 games. Those games are GUN and Hitman Blood Money. Those two games were my life back in the day. I NEED THESE GAMES ASAP. PLEASE SONY BRING THESE GAMES BACK.
The PS2 games on the PS4 are basically HD remasters but just released digitally. From what I understand, they have like share features and I think trophies too, but I could be wrong about the trophies. But at the very least, without backwards compatibility, getting a game remastered and or released digitally on the PS4 is a great way for hardcore fans or people who were curious but missed out to play these games. Personally I prefer a disc released, full blown HD remaster for the PS4. There are pleny of games that I'd like to see but I think it's silly to assume that all of them will all come out all at once. I think it's sort of good since we're pretty much going to get a steady stream of remasters.
When Pete says 'I'm gonna make a video of that later' I think he belives he will but then he realize oh shit I haven't made a video in 4 months better make a 'i'm not dead guys lol more videos to come' 1 month later he makes a somewhat pointless video of a poster or some shit and then he's gone for another 3 months. Been a subscriber since 2009 so I know :)
I'd love to see "Rule of Rose" make it to the "PS2 on PS4" selections because as much as I love collecting, I'm getting out of paying large amount of money for a game. I'd also like to see more obscure titles, like "Mister Mosquito" and the early FromSoftware games, like "Eternal Ring", "Shadow Tower: Abyss", "Kuon", "Echo Night: Beyond", "Evergrace", and more.
I think as money has more meaning in your life you start to think more about dropping loads on a rare game. I've found myself even moving to digital for anything but the stuff I must have just for space.
In terms of the Grandia series... I think it would be amazing if they did an HD remaster collection of Grandia 1, 2, and 3... maybe also Xtreme? The same for the Star Ocean games (1, 2, 3, 4)...all of course to PS4.
Buying The Bouncer for the demo of Metal gear solid 2? I might be wrong but I think you're talking about the wrong game :P Wasn't it Zone of the Enders that came with an MGS2 demo? Besides that, speaking of obscure ps2 game I wish would be on ps4. I'd like to replay the Mana Khemia and even more so Ar Tonelico games.
The Bouncer was the first Squaresoft game on the PS2. That's why everyone got it and was disappointed because it wasn't an RPG. Still one of my favorite Square games though, glad you share the love!
I bought it because it was Squaresoft/DreamFactory. and it looked like it was going to play like Ehrgeiz but beat em up style. Unfortunately that's not how it happened, we got some crappy gameplay instead.
I played the original release of Dark Cloud recently upscaled on a backwards compatible PS3 and to be honest the visuals were no slouch on that, considering the time it was made, game wasn't bad either. There's no point in me making a list of games I've already beat on PS2 as I just wouldn't play or buy them again, rarely do I replay games, even the ones I really enjoyed. However I'd love some of the harder to find games I don't have to get a makeover and re-release, especially Rule of Rose and Michigan Report from Hell. Anyway some great shouts in this selection, props for Kya, Summoner and Eternal Ring (though King's Field IV would be the preferable choice for me).
Definitely agree with The Bouncer. That was actually the game that made me really want a PS2 when it was about to launch. I personally loved everything about this game. The branching stories, trinity rush moves, and upgrade system was pretty addicting for me to replay again and again to see how different stories branched out etc. One thing i was really bummed out about was lack of co-op multiplayer. I was totally under the impression when this came out (and the back of the box) that this supported co-op. Was totally bummed that it only had some shoveled in vs mode. Would definitely pick up a PS4 port in a heartbeat.
Umm... 9:56... I think you got The Bouncer confused with ZoE 1. The former was released by Square, and did not (if I recall correctly) come with a demo of MGS2 (released by Konami).
Are the loading times better? for example the resident evil games have a lot of loading times, did they improved that. also I think they should give discounts, for the people who already own those games, that would be a good idea.
Have you ever played Scooby Doo: Night of 100 Frights for PS2? That was the first game that I ever got when my dad brought home a used PS2 - my first game console. I'm biased as a huge scooby fan, but even now over 10 years later I can get lost in that game for hours and not be bored.
I would want 1. Outrun 2006: Coast 2 Coast 2. Drakan: The ancients gates 3. Onimusha series (OR I"D LOVE AN HD RELEASE) 4. Gauntlet Dark Legacy 5. grandia II But I don't buy or like digital so I just play the PS2 discs still - They should just support the discs through emulation
yeah gitaroo man!!! honestly though cel-shaded graphics tend to be pretty timeless, not that I wouldn't want to see it ported to ps4 but it still looks beautiful on my ps2!
PeteDorr I GREATLY appreciate the fact that a UA-camr with quite a large following endorsed the re-release of Robot Alchemic Drive, my favorite game of all time. Any word of mouth is great! RAD for PS4!!!
I was thinking what's the point of PS2 ports to people like us that likely already have the game and console still. But you convinced me they must look pretty awesome! And Okage! That's one of the few games I accidentally bought a NTSC copy of and couldn't play (I'm in a PAL region). But now I can! Awesome to see more videos from ya Pete :)
Pete, you should add some clips or images of gameplay while you're talking about the games cus now I have to go search them in a new tab haha but amazing vid as always, glad you're back!!
Ephemeral Phantasia is a great, underrated gem of PS2 era. It's on par with Grandia, Shadow Hearts and similar games. People tend to dislike the game for the, not on par with square-enix ,visuals and battle system. If you manage to get around it, you'll definetly love it.
They don't re-texture/re-skin the games. Just values tweaked like the resolution, anti-aliasing and text rendering. This gives the game a better looking feel than the original ps2.
I remember renting Summoner when it came out. Having been an avid Final Fantasy fan, it was my OCD habit to extract every last ounce of exposition from every last NPC in every town after every major plot development. I get to the first town in Summoner, and... Thankfully, later RPGs on the system, like FFXII, figured out that it was better just to give key NPCs dialog and let the rest exist as background bustle. But I literally just gave up talking to anybody in Summoner because I realized that it would pester me like a brown stink bug that I hadn't talked to _everyone_, and that they all had pages of text to read. THAT was how big a game it was for its time.
I really liked Rygar. I think I like all of the Rygar games from the arcade to the NES to the PS2. I'd love to see a new one. Wizardry the Forsaken Land is good one too. There is a Japan only sequel (prequel) as well if you haven't picked it up. Though I guess it might be on the harder side to play due to the language.
+xcornmuffinx Played Rygar on the NES for the first time a few weeks ago. Loved it, thought it was an excellent game. I'm surprised I never played it as a kid. Took me about 4 hours to beat it, which was a pleasant surprise for a NES adventure game, no silly obscure ways to advance the game. What I'm getting at is that I'm excited to play the ps2 game.
I'd love to see them remake Contra Shattered Soldier from the PS2. It was very "foggy" on the original hardware and quite dark; would be nice if they could brighten it up and sharpen the graphics for a next gen port.
True Crime 1 and 2, Midnight Club DUB Edition Remix, Need for Speed Underground 2, Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 1 -3, Shadow of the Colossus (Even though I own the HD re-release for the PS3, and Metal Gear Solid 1-3 with original easter eggs for nostalgic value. Even though I own them as well on the PS2 and the PS3. I'm just a huge MGS fan.
I'm happy to see that I'm not the only one in the world who really likes Automodellista and Harvest Moon. That were really great titles, even that I prefer Harvest Moon 64 more than the PS2 Version. :) I'm still looking for HM64, as it never got released here in Europe, it is a little hard to get it. Especially CIB. :(
My list would have to be Drakan The Ancient Gates, Siren, Chaos Legion, Bujingai The Forsaken City, The Suffering, Samurai Western, and Sphinx and The Cursed Mummy. Those are probably my most wanted.
I finally got Okage: Shadow King (and Dark Cloud). I was so excited about Okage, I bought it from my college library in-between classes the day it released, and I didn't even own a PS4 (and still don't yet). Now I just need .hack//G.U. and the original .hack games (shoutouts to Kya as well). If they do multiplayer, first and foremost, .hack//fragment, the Japanese-only .hack MMO on PS2, translated. That would be utterly magical to play legitimately online in English.
I never got to play SOCOM online on PS2. So I would loooove if Sony was able to bring back the SOCOM trilogy on PS4. And God damn it, re-release horror games like Kuon, Haunting Ground and Rule of Rose. I love my Silent Hills, and I've never played any of these, so make it happen Sony.
I've never played Klonoa before but it looks like a really cool game from the gameplay footage I've seen! I would love to see a reboot/remake of Baldur's Gate Dark Alliance! Or a PS4 version of Castlevania Lament of Innocence! And I've been waiting for a remaster of FF12 any day now... FFX/X-2 were pretty successful so I imagine it'll happen any day now. My favorite memory of Summoner is that D&D skit! WHERE'S THE MOUNTAIN DEW????
This is a question unrelated to the video. Do u know of any cooperative racing games??? I LOVE Need for Speed Vrally for the PS1. You get to race with a friend against other cars and whoever reaches the checkpoint can keep the game going. I've never seen another game do that. Have you??? I'm not a big fan of head to head. Kind of nice to work together with a friend towards a goal. Looking for another game like it to try
Wont the games look better if you used component cables? I have my ps2 hooked up with regular composite to a crt, but i was testing out a small flatscreen tv with component and the games looked a lot more crisp.
the thing is that 50% of the game library for ps4 are remixes hd ports remasters remakes, thats the problem, they will continue to do so, but i hope they make and relase new/original games
Harvest Moon: A Wonderful Life SE is coming out for the PS4 in a couple days. Save the Homeland will follow soon as its been rated! I'll be playing both of them on my PS4 soon. Oh yeah, and start uploading some new vids man.
I want to see Kya: Dark Lineage get on PS4. With 3D Platformers making a comeback, I feel like Kay deserves a second shot. It has a surreal, really bright and cartoony style that has aged far better than other PS2 games. It's got a great variety of 3D Platforming too: speeding down tunnels and slides, free-falling through the air, plenty of doodads to collect, weapons and upgrades to purchase, etc. I'd love to play it, get trophies, and see it get discovered by more people.
Definitely want some more Rpgs, especially ones I haven't played yet: Shadow Hearts 2, 3 Wild Arms 3 Radiata Stories Suikoden 3, 5 Would also love to replay Grandia 3, Xenosaga 3, and Shadow Hearts. Digital Devil Saga games as well, but I just played them last year :D
i have the steam release of summoner, its pretty broken. I don't think it can keep up with my graphics card so i find alot of odd glitches like battles being played in 4x speed and such
I REALLY hope they bring back Spider-Man 2. I know it probably wont happen, and they are mostly focusing on the bigger titles (at least right now). I played it A LOT growing up and would love to see it in an upgraded resolution.
I was certainly happy to see Manhunt, Dark Cloud and Bully on the PS4. There are certainly tons of games i'd love to see on PS4, but knowing that my list is split between more well known, to more uncommon...I'm sure that I'll end up with a few that I enjoy, that end up on PS4. I'm honestly shocked that some major key games haven't been released yet, ones that never even got an "HD" treatment at that.
Is grandia 2 more challenging than grandia 3? The reason why I asked is becuase LOVED the battle system in grandia 2 but hated that it was too easy ....
We need the Budokai series, Midnight Club series, Need For Speed series, Fight Night: Round 3, Scarface, 50 Cent Bulletproof (major guilty pleasure of mine haha), Time Splitters, Onimusha, Tenchu, Lord Of The Rings: The Two Towers and Return of the King, 007: Agent Under Fire, NFL Blitz: 2003, the NBA Street series. Man the list is crazy haha
Mercenaries: Playground of Destruction, Area 51, Dog's Life (yes, really), The Bard's Tale, Drakan: The Ancients' Gates, Downhill Domination, and Radiata Stories, to name a few.
Top 5 - Rule of Rose - My sister has a copy because I bought it for her when it launched and I never was able to pick up a copy for myself. Now that it has a ridiculous price and I have been revisiting my childhood gaming, I would like to play this game. - Final Fantasy 12 - I really want to replay this game because I haven't played it in a while and don't quite feel like dragging out my PS2 to play it. - Silent Hill: Shattered Memories - I recently found this game from a UA-cam playthrough and bought it for the Wii instantly. It's a fantastic port but I hated the controls during the running scenes with the monsters. I heard the PSP port was better control-wise but I really want to play it on a console. - Crash Bandicoot Games for PS2 - I never played them because of technical problems with the disks and my ps2 ( I kept getting errors and took back the game several times and lost interest for the other couple Crash games released on PS2) but I would love to finally play them after all this time. - Chulip - I really want to play it because I always had a need and want to play it, but I never got around to it. Plus it's a bit pricy now.
I Bought star wars bounty hunter for PS2 on the PS4 and it does look great, but the controls are a little too sensitive for me. Not sure if the game was like that originally or if its the controller idk. But an RPG or something i see no problem with that at all. An Action game like Bounty hunter i'm not sure if i'd buy that again.
I regret buying FF9 on PS Vita now that the PC version is out and is actually a really solid port. The only justification that I have for the PS Vita emulated version is that it's portable, so I'm going to use that to keep myself satisfied with my purchase.
I know is way old but I totally agree with you I love the remakes or remasters whatever . Example I skipped ps3 and missed a lot of great games ala demon souls and now it’s being remade . I’m so excited since that game was locked on to the PS3
i'm hoping ratchet and clank size matters get released and my reason for this game is its the only ratchet and clank game (not including secret agent clank) that wasn't released on ps3 so since my ps3 ratchet hype it's one of the only ratchet games i haven't played and have yet to complete.
lol I feel good now that I'm not the only odd ball for Ephemeral fantasia. I have all the games you said as I like almost all of them. My PS2 collection is around 1100 games with only 2 sport games lol. I also love to play them on a old CRT tv
Id like them to port: -Sword of Etheria -I prefered Grandia II way better and would like it to be ported and upscaled -Gladius, taht game was brillinat RTS and got severly overlooked
Here's my list 1- The mark of Kri 2- Rise of the Kasai (Mark of Kri 2) 3- Ring Of Red 4- Shadow of Destiny 5- Ace combat 4 Shattered skies 6- Ace Combat 5 The unsung war 7- Ace combat zero Belkan Wars 8- The getaway 9- The getaway black monday 10- Extermination (super underrated)
as follows in no particular order i would love to see a port to ps4 of 1) Red Faction 2) Onimusha series 3) Vex 4) .hack infection 5) simpsons hit n run
Resident Evil Outbreak File#1 and File#2 with online play. Timesplitters 2 and TimeSplitters Future Perfect would be nice also.. Or would be nice is an understatement.. I would cry of joy if that ever happened.
dealing with hd remasters ill only get them when they're cheap unless its a game i've never played then ok ill go for full price. but if ive already owned them ill get them when they're within the range of 30 or cheaper depending on the game. i do like utilizing the ps4's capabilities and everything it offers to these older games. and also a new trophy list.
I never played a FF game before but i think i know the right order to play them as a Beginner. its: 8, 3, 5, 10, 9, tactics, 4, 6/7 (choose), and if you want to know from what it all statrted as a fan you and i should play 1, 2. I chose 4, 6 and 7 to play as last because 4 has a great and mature story (as i heard - youtube/Wootstick Game Reviews), 6 and 7 go last, because you can get overwhelmed by those two and wont play any FF because nothing would top 6 or 7.
I love PS2 releases on the PS4 in the last sale i got Dark Cloud,Dark Chronicle and Arc for half the price of what a preowned copy of Dark cloud would have cost. So cheaper and look good on a large HDTV
Where is Ico or Shadow of the Collossus? PacMan World 2, Sonic Mega Collection, the Spider-Man trilogy??? Jak and Daxter, Ratchet and Clank, The Simpsons Game, The Simpsons Road Rage, The Family Guy game, Star wars Battlefront 1-2??? Oh the PS2.. so many awesome exclusive and non-exclusive titles on one system.
hopefully all time splitters games.
this.
I only started playing time splitters yesterday sine I got it for half a dollar but I play it a lot now
+TwilightMario If you play it on PS2 or Xbox you can play it online still in 2016 :)
G-Virus, you're talking about X-link Kai right?!

The Bouncer HYPE! MGS2 Demo came with ZOE though I believe. Great vid Pete.

+Shadow Ninja good picks
+Shadow Ninja Definitely Xenosaga. What a great series!!!
Nice to see you putting out top videos again Pete :)
It would be nice if you could add some game play footage of these games. I know it's a ball ache and takes time but it's worth it.
Right? Lol
Buying The Bouncer for the demo of Metal gear solid 2? I might be wrong but I think you're talking about the wrong game :P Wasn't it Zone of the Enders that came with an MGS2 demo?

+LelouchRika Yeah I think you're right :)
+PeteDorr Yeah, I think you might be mistaking that for Zone of the Enders.

I would want
1. Outrun 2006: Coast 2 Coast
2. Drakan: The ancients gates
3. Onimusha series (OR I"D LOVE AN HD RELEASE)
4. Gauntlet Dark Legacy
5. grandia II

they totally need to do rogue galaxy or the 2nd wild arms maybe onimusha and deffo half life
Since you last uploaded my broken leg healed. I broke it the same day you uploaded this.
Fr thats hilarious
I will be married and have 3 kids by the time the next video uploads.
I would love the persona games to come over.
glad to see you uploading again, you're the man Pete !!
Ahhh, thank you, for making me remember The Bouncer. Great channel Pete.
Just starting to get into PS2 through steam deck so it's helpful to revisit these older Pete Dorr vids for recommendations. I started with Ico btw
We need more cel shaded games. Klonoa 2 is a great example. I love that art style!
I was thinking what's the point of PS2 ports to people like us that likely already have the game and console still. But you convinced me they must look pretty awesome! And Okage! Pet dorr back at it again with content every day
I would want gran turismo 3 and FIFA 09
Man I really need to play Kya. 3D platformers (especially collectathons) are my favorite games. It looks awesome.
I really liked Rygar. I think I like all of the Rygar games from the arcade to the NES to the PS2. I'd love to see a new one.

also those ps2 JRPGs that go for >$50 getting re-released/ported would be nice.

+DariaPlaysRPGs Yes it does, it's very very colorful when lit :)

What do you think of the Odin Sphere remake?
Gregory Horror Show. Really one of the best 'survival horror' games on the PS2. No one ever mentions it.
I've been watching Pete since I was 12 years old, holy shit.. Lol
How about Lord of the Rings: Return of the King and War of the Monsters? No? Yeah, I figured I was the only one. Lol, great video, Pete!
RAD is one of my fav games of all time.
Definitely want some more Rpgs, especially ones I haven't played yet:
Shadow Hearts 2, 3
Wild Arms 3
Radiata Stories
Suikoden 3, 5
Would also love to replay Grandia 3, Xenosaga 3, and Shadow Hearts.
You mentioned on your "games burnout video", that you was going to try to get back into xenoblade chronicles x. How did that go Pete?
Your videos are awesome man! Love ur channel, another games I bought recently would be the shit!
When will the Q and A come out?
I was certainly happy to see Manhunt, Dark Cloud and Bully on the PS4.
There are certainly tons of games i'd love to see on PS4, but knowing that my list is split between more well known, to more uncommon...I'm sure that I'll end up with a few that I enjoy, that end up on PS4.
I'm honestly shocked that some major key games haven't been released yet, ones that never even got an "HD" treatment at that.
+Eric Durant I really like the fact that some of the more obscure PS2 games are getting re-releases first.
Is grandia 2 more challenging than grandia 3? The reason why I asked is becuase LOVED the battle system in grandia 2 but hated that it was too easy ....
I would looooove to see Valkyrie Profile 2: Silmeria. Its graphics were fantastic on PS2, would love to see them on PS4.
Rylo Ken Thats how i felt typing it haha im really hoping to see some of them soon. Like really REALLY hoping.
Almost forgot Burnout haha man i swear im about to make a twitter just to tweet to Playstation the names of games id like to see sometime soon haha
Mercenaries: Playground of Destruction, Area 51, Dog's Life (yes, really), The Bard's Tale, Drakan: The Ancients' Gates, Downhill Domination, and Radiata Stories, to name a few.
Klonoa 2 + Wild Arms 3-5+ACF and that's all I need.
I would like to see War of the Monster as well. Played that to no end.
Top 5
- Rule of Rose - My sister has a copy because I bought it for her when it launched and I never was able to pick up a copy for myself.
The MGS2 demo was in Zone of the Enders. Not the Bouncer :P
SOCOM series, Hulk Ultimate Destruction, The Punisher, X-Men Legends series, Shadow Hearts, and Timesplitters off the top of my head.
I want the punisher game so badly
CLINTTHECOOL
Same here. I also wished more split screen games would come.
+civilwarfare101 me too! I'm going to need a few before I go to collage
I Bought star wars bounty hunter for PS2 on the PS4 and it does look great, but the controls are a little too sensitive for me. Not sure if the game was like that originally or if its the controller idk. But an RPG or something i see no problem with that at all. An Action game like Bounty hunter i'm not sure if i'd buy that again.
peeetee we missed you
xenosaga hd collection is one of my greatest gaming dreams
no pal ps2 version :(
I regret buying FF9 on PS Vita now that the PC version is out and is actually a really solid port.
The bouncer was one of the ps2s games to showcase its power at the time
Rygar on PS2 has no pre rendered backgrounds.
i'd love to TimeSplitters 2 & iNinja added. Can't even count how many hours I put into those games as a kid
i'm hoping ratchet and clank size matters get released and my reason for this game is its the only ratchet and clank game (not including secret agent clank) that wasn't released on ps3 so since my ps3 ratchet hype it's one of the only ratchet games i haven't played and have yet to complete.
Dot hack series, Spider-man 2, Xenosagas, NBA Street V3, Onimushas, Timesplitters series, Maximos, Shin megami tensei games, Suikodens, and Psi ops: The Mindgate Conspiracy.
lol I feel good now that I'm not the only odd ball for Ephemeral fantasia. I have all the games you said as I like almost all of them. My PS2 collection is around 1100 games with only 2 sport games lol. I also love to play them on a old CRT tv
Id like them to port:
-Sword of Etheria
-I prefered Grandia II way better and would like it to be ported and upscaled
-Gladius, taht game was brillinat RTS and got severly overlooked
Summoner is and so is harvest move or one of them atleast.
Here's my list
1- The mark of Kri
2- Rise of the Kasai (Mark of Kri 2)
3- Ring Of Red
4- Shadow of Destiny
5- Ace combat 4 Shattered skies
6- Ace Combat 5 The unsung war
7- Ace combat zero Belkan Wars
8- The getaway
9- The getaway black monday
10- Extermination (super underrated)
as follows in no particular order i would love to see a port to ps4 of
1) Red Faction
2) Onimusha series
3) Vex
4) .hack infection
5) simpsons hit n run
I love GTA Vice City and plan to replay it due to the great soundtrack.
wish the new ps4 that is coming out had broader backwards compatibility
Resident Evil Outbreak File#1 and File#2 with online play. Timesplitters 2 and TimeSplitters Future Perfect would be nice also.. Or would be nice is an understatement.. I would cry of joy if that ever happened.
How was the input lag for PS2 on PS4? It was pretty bad on PS3...
dealing with hd remasters ill only get them when they're cheap unless its a game i've never played then ok ill go for full price. but if ive already owned them ill get them when they're within the range of 30 or cheaper depending on the game. i do like utilizing the ps4's capabilities and everything it offers to these older games. and also a new trophy list.
Eternal Sonata is my favourite Battle System for a RPG
I love PS2 releases on the PS4 in the last sale i got Dark Cloud,Dark Chronicle and Arc for half the price of what a preowned copy of Dark cloud would have cost.
So cheaper and look good on a large HDTV
So true. PaRappa the Rapper 2 is expensive here pre-owned.
