As a person who is a glutton for punishment, I play a lot of monotype random battles. Colpa drew one of the shortest stick possible. Bug v fairy is in the bottom 3 WORSE matchups. Fairy leans special defensive, so you want a physical attacker to counter. But only a 1/3rd of the possible options are physical. And 3 of the 8 physical mons are weak to fairy (Lokix, Heracross, Slither Wing). So hopefully Colpa gets a redemption arc soon. :-)

This format would work better with a sixth pokemon being a 'finisher' that you must use tera like gym leaders do, to make the non-type pokemon their type. This would let you guys get some better type coverage and prevents unbalanced types from locking people out of decent stat mons.

I've long been a fan of the Ghost type so I would absolutely build a Ghost type team. I've actually done so a couple times in Pokemon Violet against Blueberry Academy Elite 4 and it's a delight!
I actually do know what its like to make a team based on one type, my ice type team that that had Avalugg, Iron Bundle, Alohlan Sandslash, Alohlan Ninetails, Chien-pao and Frostmoth on it and I got masterball teir with it in doubles, love that team.
The Araquanid almost had your number there. I also like Bug types, and half of Colpa’s team are ones I would use. My mono type team is Poison, but some aren’t in ScaVi, which makes it a bit harder.
I'd do normal types for my monoteam type, theres a nice variety of them and they got good coverage and they cns be so varied in how they work. From the crazy bulk monster Porygon 2, the fascinating albeit tragic pokemon regigigas, the iconic snorlax, our lord and savior *bidoof*, stoutland the epic dog, lechonk, and more!
