Lead, I'm been looking since you did the video on the Go Power Plus (got it) and the Thunderbolt 13 watt solar panel. Where can I get this Thunderbolt briefcase solar panel from? Amazon, Harbor Freight, etc. have been sold out. I checked Google, no luck. Please help. Can I use another solar panel, if so; which one? Thanks!

@leadfarmer73 Hi! After binge watching your videos the past year we went ahead and got the PPS2000 and the Renogy 100 panels. We are in FL and we are seeing TREMENDOUS heat effects... in summer the 100w goes to 20w. We see a brief jump to maybe 54w if we hose them down. I've tried pointing small battery fans down there... nothing. Are you seeing this type of heat effect? We would love to have these as a back up during hurricane season (we are on the coast in central FL) but they are taking forever to charge the generator. Thoughts with your experience in the Carolinas? Thank you so much in advance!

I have "repurposed" 4 grocery store carts and use them as stands for each of my four panels...I have them on a concrete deck and being able to roll them around to face the sun is great! The panels get plenty of ventilation, the carts provide multiple ways to place the panels, they are sturdy, weather proof...On each cart, I have room for a panel up top as well as another propped up in front of/against the cart (so housing for up to 8 200watt panels). I also use swim noodles as extra insulation for all my cables to my panels...Urban prepping at it's best...

Suggest you put wheels on that coop and just saying maybe $7 per leg depending on size. That's what I did to my raised beds and walla easy does it. Also adding 45 degree pieces of wood frame to the sides and that way if you need to bring you panel shack to the driveway to work on it. Just my thoughts. Love it Led!!!

You may want to tack your tarps down so the wind won’t catch the edges and pull them up. Also, you may want to run the wires going to the house to be in a little pvc pipe for visibility at night and so you can weed eater around them easier.

I'm truly new to the solar. I sorta want on the roof, I felt I might want on the wall. I was considering building a frame similar to yours, but I thought I would need to dig holes to secure it. After watching your vid, I think I may think about it again, since I don't have to dig holes now.
    But
I do have 2 old clothesline poles that have frustrated me for years, and now I can repurpose them as solar panel poles.
Again, I'm soo new, that I'm testing things out

I will tell you I went with the Epever 30 Amp waterproof charge controller. $86, and Epever is among the top three in all the ratings. I have two, so each is connected to their own set of panels. Oddly, this MPTT controller is far cheaper than the non-potted, less rugged, bells-and-whistles controllers they also sell. It automatically is set up for LiFePo batteries.
I wish Unisolar hadn't gone out of business. I have 4 of their 18 foot roll-down, self stick panels, for the roof of my RV. Wish I could have gotten more. Amorphous drop less in output, when poorly aimed and on cloudy days. Even work well when partially shaded, since amorphous are cross-connected inside the panel. The Harbor Freight ones are the same. I have 600 watts of theirs.
Good luck and keep on keeping on, on UA-cam and in life.

Like this set up. I've just started on my solar, and yes, like you said in the live stream, it's addicting! I have a Togo 330 and 2 portable 100w Rockpal panels I purchased for travel in my vehicle. Now I want a bigger battery and more panels, lol! My electric bill this summer has been over $300 a month because there is so much wildfire smoke we are unable to open the windows at night to cool off the house due to it being so unhealthy to breathe. This amount for just electricity is unsustainable for me so I have to do something about it. Solar is the way to go. And not on the roof, hooked up to the grid, because when the power goes out, the solar will also go out. Have a very teeny yard, but am going to put hooks in the fence and hang the panels out there during the day, bring them in at night. I would love the Bluetti you've got but a bit out of my price range right now. Maybe the price will be cut a bit in a few months when the weather isn't so sunny. Thank you for your information and being entertaining at the same time!

For the first time this last Sunday, I had everything up and running and watching the amount of power created with the sunlight. With poly and mono panels in series, the current is limited by the panel putting out the least amps. With some at a different angle (the six in series), the Amps will drop to the output of the panel least aimed well.

You can use cardboard or newspaper to kill the grass and use black fabric weed block. It easier to control the exact measurements you need, and will last longer than the tarp. Water run off will go directly into the ground, instead of puddling on the tarp, which will give the mosquitoes a breading location, and invite other wild animals looking for a drink.

Wow that's a great idea,👍 I'm planning on solar system especially living in Puerto Rico after hurricane Maria weeks with no power is no joke, we do lose power a few times a month from 7 hrs to a day. But what worried me is what if I hook it up wrong and blow everything sigh.

You should invest in a Solar panel Sun tracker. Those things are dope.

Question why not build it higher like another layer of what you have and you will not have to worry about the grass cutting and the panels on the ground will be out of the way and you will not have to worry about anything hurting them at all. Your back will be safe also from hurting.

then I may as well put them on my roof. that all bring the same problems. I'm not worried about my grass. lol it's just grass.

@@leadfarmer73 no sir you will be able to work on them and they will be out of harm way. Putting them on the roof makes no sense you will be able to work on them without bending down is what I mean.

I'm completely new to your channel and trying to wrap my head around the concept of solar. How much of your home's electrical needs is this setup providing? I assume that you are now completely off the electrical grid.
What about in summer when you are running your AC. How many more watts does it take to run the AC in the south?

I have about the same amount of panels he does and this amount is no where near enough to run a whole house, u need many more watts in panels and several big batteries as well, and big pure sine wave inverter as well. In short, solar for a whole house is much more expensive and complicated than systems like this one shown. These systems are great however for emergency situations to keep some lights on and a few fans as well as charging devices such as phones and computers.
