Lead, I'm been looking since you did the video on the Go Power Plus (got it) and the Thunderbolt 13 watt solar panel. Where can I get this Thunderbolt briefcase solar panel from? Amazon, Harbor Freight, etc. have been sold out. I checked Google, no luck. Please help. Can I use another solar panel, if so; which one? Thanks!
@leadfarmer73 Hi! After binge watching your videos the past year we went ahead and got the PPS2000 and the Renogy 100 panels. We are in FL and we are seeing TREMENDOUS heat effects... in summer the 100w goes to 20w. We see a brief jump to maybe 54w if we hose them down. I've tried pointing small battery fans down there... nothing. Are you seeing this type of heat effect? We would love to have these as a back up during hurricane season (we are on the coast in central FL) but they are taking forever to charge the generator. Thoughts with your experience in the Carolinas? Thank you so much in advance!

What do they say about necessity and invention! Brilliant! Now, maybe build one of the sides up at a slant or add another build like the one you have there (side x side) to house the other panels off the ground... if I may suggest. Brilliant, just brilliant. Mannnnn, I love the GHL! Thanks sir!
I have "repurposed" 4 grocery store carts and use them as stands for each of my four panels...I have them on a concrete deck and being able to roll them around to face the sun is great! The panels get plenty of ventilation, the carts provide multiple ways to place the panels, they are sturdy, weather proof...On each cart, I have room for a panel up top as well as another propped up in front of/against the cart (so housing for up to 8 200watt panels). I also use swim noodles as extra insulation for all my cables to my panels...Urban prepping at it's best...

Suggest you put wheels on that coop and just saying maybe $7 per leg depending on size. That's what I did to my raised beds and walla easy does it. Also adding 45 degree pieces of wood frame to the sides and that way if you need to bring you panel shack to the driveway to work on it. Just my thoughts. Love it Led!!!
That's cool , I recently saw something built like that a bit higher and they put tin on the top and gutters to collect rain water. Have a blessed weekend. I'm working to organize. Order all you can people are saying it's back order time.
I’m starting to look into solar power. Living in Scotland, we don’t get the same bang for your buck with panels. But it’s great that you’re there to inform and inspire…thanks
You may want to tack your tarps down so the wind won’t catch the edges and pull them up. Also, you may want to run the wires going to the house to be in a little pvc pipe for visibility at night and so you can weed eater around them easier.
I'm truly new to the solar. I sorta want on the roof, I felt I might want on the wall. I was considering building a frame similar to yours, but I thought I would need to dig holes to secure it. I really like this idea. It solves the problem of cutting the grass without damaging solar panels. I have a rabbit living under mine right now. I don't have a chicken coop but maybe I can find something else around my house to use. Thanks!
I will tell you I went with the Epever 30 Amp waterproof charge controller. $86, and Epever is among the top three in all the ratings. I have two, so each is connected to their own set of panels. Oddly, this MPTT controller is far cheaper than the non-potted, less rugged, bells-and-whistles controllers they also sell. It automatically is set up for LiFePo batteries. I wish Unisolar hadn't gone out of business. I have 4 of their 18 foot roll-down, self stick panels, for the roof of my RV. Wish I could have gotten more. Amorphous drop less in output, when poorly aimed and on cloudy days. Even work well when partially shaded, since amorphous are cross-connected inside the panel. The Harbor Freight ones are the same. I have 600 watts of theirs. Good luck and keep on keeping on, on UA-cam and in life.
Like this set up. I've just started on my solar, and yes, like you said in the live stream, it's addicting! I have a Togo 330 and 2 portable 100w Rockpal panels I purchased for travel in my vehicle. Now I want a bigger battery and more panels, lol! My electric bill this summer has been over $300 a month because there is so much wildfire smoke we are unable to open the windows at night to cool off the house due to it being so unhealthy to breathe. This amount for just electricity is unsustainable for me so I have to do something about it. Solar is the way to go. And not on the roof, hooked up to the grid, because when the power goes out, the solar will also go out. Have a very teeny yard, but am going to put hooks in the fence and hang the panels out there during the day, bring them in at night. I would love the Bluetti you've got but a bit out of my price range right now. Maybe the price will be cut a bit in a few months when the weather isn't so sunny. Thank you for your information and being entertaining at the same time!
Thanks for the video. I'm dealing with this right now. I've got panels on the ground and the grass needs to be cut. I really like how you can get to the wires with the panels elevated. That's perfect. Thank you again.
Hey Lead Farmer 73 !!!!! P.S. We enjoyed watching your reviews for a long time, We started our own channel on youtube and do reviews as well :) P.P.S. THANK YOU AGAIN FOR YOUR VIDEOS !!!!!
So its true about the Jackery 500 and smaller they can’t handle even close to 100W input? Also split flexible electrical tubing might be a nice add to clean your extended wires up a little to the house if you like that look... I like this set up, great idea!!!!
had a quick question about ur air layering videos i see you transfer things to the 5 gal buckets when do u decide to transfer a tree to the ground or do you just let them stay in the bucket ?
You know, I have a really humble setup with my van. A battery, a charge controller, and a solar 100 watt standing solar panel with an older battery. For the first time this last Sunday, I had everything up and running and watching the amount of power created with the sunlight. LIke, with just a bit more battery storage I could run a fridge and more. I don't see why the world just doesn't covert to solar/wind/hydro
With poly and mono panels in series, the current is limited by the panel putting out the least amps. With some at a different angle (the six in series), the Amps will drop to the output of the panel least aimed well.
You can use cardboard or newspaper to kill the grass and use black fabric weed block. It easier to control the exact measurements you need, and will last longer than the tarp. Water run off will go directly into the ground, instead of puddling on the tarp, which will give the mosquitoes a breading location, and invite other wild animals looking for a drink.
@LEAD I COVERED THE GROUND WITH TARPS AND TENT PEGGED THEM TO GROUND. THEN PUT MY SOLAR SET UP OVER THAT. MY GROUND IS ON A SLIGHT HILL SO IT ACTS LIKE A ROOF TOP
I have just found your channel and am loving it. Why do to have so many solar generators? I am also looking at a cutting edge power solar generator. Any experience with this?
I like the frame idea. Pretty good idea. Might add a mechanism on each side to change the angle for time of year. 7 degrees for summer in Texas versus 45 degrees in winter makes a difference.
@@leadfarmer73 So I would order online or go to my local hardware store... At the end of your tape you showed all these boxes of generators do they come with the panels 🌹
Nice!! Timely too. I can't get the MC4 connectors from the Renogy panel to attach to the MC4 connectors of my Bluetti DC input cord. Seems the panel's connectors are a tad bigger (at least the O ring is) Did you have ANY problems? If so, how did you resolve cuz clearly you are charging!!

I don't really want to risk buying cheap panels which might end up exploding!!
THAT'S A GREAT IDEA I WAS THINKING ABOUT THE POLE MOUNT SET UP, BUT YOUR SETUP IS GREAT, HOW WILL YOU KEEP THE CRITTERS DEER, SQUALS FROM MAKING A HOME UNDER THERE?
Hi Lead, the tarp is a great idea. I haven't bought hard panels yet because I only have a jackery 1000 for solar backup but I'm looking at the ac200 when I get my next big cash bundle. I saw the rich solar panels for only $89 on Amazon. QUESTION: What is the cable you're using to extend beyond the original connection cables? (i.e., extension cable for longer distances). Thanks
I bought the Harbor Fright set. It's still in the box. I got just it to make sure I had it. However I'm not sure what else I need. One man talked about an inverter before hooking up to the battery then to the generator. You seem to bypass and went strat to the generator. Or did I miss something. Please help explain. I want the simple way so not to get all confused. Thank You.
@@leadfarmer73 if the grass is wet, does that pose any electrical dangers? Hopefully all your cabling is in good shape, but I like the idea of putting everything on a tarp or drop cloth to be on the safe side.
Wow that's a great idea,👍 I'm planning on solar system especially living in Puerto Rico after hurricane Maria weeks with no power is no joke, we do lose power a few times a month from 7 hrs to a day. But what worried me is what if I hook it up wrong and blow everything sigh.

Question why not build it higher like another layer of what you have and you will not have to worry about the grass cutting and the panels on the ground will be out of the way and you will not have to worry about anything hurting them at all. Your back will be safe also from hurting.
@@leadfarmer73 no sir you will be able to work on them and they will be out of harm way. Putting them on the roof makes no sense you will be able to work on them without bending down is what I mean.
I'm completely new to your channel and trying to wrap my head around the concept of solar. How much of your home's electrical needs is this setup providing? I assume that you are now completely off the electrical grid. What about in summer when you are running your AC. How many more watts does it take to run the AC in the south?
I have about the same amount of panels he does and this amount is no where near enough to run a whole house, u need many more watts in panels and several big batteries as well, and big pure sine wave inverter as well. In short, solar for a whole house is much more expensive and complicated than systems like this one shown. These systems are great however for emergency situations to keep some lights on and a few fans as well as charging devices such as phones and computers.

then I may as well put them on my roof. that all bring the same problems. I'm not worried about my grass. lol it's just grass.
@@leadfarmer73 no sir you will be able to work on them and they will be out of harm way. Putting them on the roof makes no sense you will be able to work on them without bending down is what I mean.
I have a question how many batteries would it take to run a window unit at night all night it would be a 110 window unit
Lead have 5 renogy panel set up what is the same extention you have thats hooked between the solar panel and power bank how long is it
I'm completely new to your channel and trying to wrap my head around the concept of solar.
Will the clam shell work under any light
