- In this video I install a pair of front splitter rods for the 2017 Focus ST. This video can be used as a guide to install splitter rods on any car as these parts are universal for any car with a front splitter.
Current mods on the Focus: COBB Cold Air Intake, Borla Catback Exhaust, Cobb Accessport Stage 2 Tune on 91 Octane, Mishimoto Front Mounted Intercooler, Turbosmart BOV, Rally Innovations Front Splitter 3-Piece Matte Black Aluminum, Fully Torqued Racing adjustable splitter support rods 7.5-9.25in with upgraded hardware.

Watching you drill through the bumper was scary 😭 You got such clear shots of everything though 👌🏼
Nice angle shots i hope every “how to vids“ looks like this
Wow! Thanks for the comment! I'm really trying to be in-depth with these types of videos but also straight to the point in showing quality content :)
Hi how long were your splitter rods wa t to mount in same spot as yours.
This is literally how not to get the angles you want
Looks awesome!!!
awesome addition
Thanks :)
I was thinking about doing this to my ST what a pain in the a@@ lol.
Yeah - it was a pain lol
Little do you know these rods SUCK. the bolts will seize themselves to the rods and they are nearly impossible to get off lol
Thanks for the feedback! How long did you have these rods on your car? Did you replace them with some other rods? Also, thanks for watching :)
Andrew Mackey it was only a few months, but no I haven’t decided what rods to go with yet. I’ve had better luck with the cheaper eBay or amazon rods than the more expensive ones.. the splitter is off the car getting powder coated so I’ll try and find some new rods in the meanwhile.
@@ghsdr5 Good to know. I'll keep an eye out for what you described. Thanks for the heads up man! What splitter you running on it?
Andrew Mackey it’s a Vega v3 splitter!
@@ghsdr5 That one has a sick rigid shape! I almost got that one!
what size holes do you need to make?
......Splitter rods mounted to plastic are useless. They mount to the chassis...
I agree - these rods are mounted to 11-gauge aluminum.
@@andrewmackey6185 lolol you mounted your aluminum splitter to a thin plastic bumper lol 😆 you mount the splitter rods from the splitter to the chassis..... not your thin plastic bumper.
@@CPTN-HATE wowo isn’t someone a car nazi
@@LostLarz not exactly a car nazi but if your going to spend the money and try to educate others, doing it the right way is probably best. A front splitter adds downforce so there will be more pressure on it the faster he goes. Having it bolted to a plastic bumper will flex and probably snap off at high speeds and probably damage something else and ruin the bumper, splitter and rods.
yeap that splitter may be secure, but at 80mph which is about 300lbs of downforce...well heck say you top the speed...you're whole bumper is going to be ripped off along with splitter.
Great job
Thanks!
