man there's something about taking photos when its cold, whether its the color and the atmosphere or just the sniffles you get as your hands start to go numb, its just so nice
Gorgeous! It is amazing how much diversity of climate and environment we have here, all in a day's travels. A timely topic as well, I just read two in-depth stories about the Colorado River doubt in the LA Times and NY Times this weekend. I love the river photo at 07:38 and the dog at 10:50, and all of the photos around the dam. Cheers, Willem!
For a second I though the Volvo got rear ended, but glad it was all good in the end! Incredible snow scenes man, your eye for light is literally unmatched.
These photos are beyond stunning!! My favourites are definitely the ones with the mountains in the background; the best moments when I watch your videos is when I see a potential shot in the video footage, and then you take the picture that I saw in my head too - I got so happy seeing the first shot of the mountains, the composition was so good!!!
ohhhh so beautiful- brings back wonderful memories of my college years at 'SC and our ski trips to Mammoth and June Lake- some memorable snow storms and some hallucinogens....... and I just got back from Yosemite- a weekend shoot (Jan 20-Jan 22).... it was amazing- had my Mamiya 7ii... (haven't got the film back yet)....and some Leica gear- the guy who lead us has done numerous winter shoots at Yosemite- so .... we were up before the sun.... and then chasing the sun all day over the Valley all day 'til dusk- so much fun.... you should definitely check out Yosemite now- if you can- thanks Willem- another great video-
Man thank you for being a constant inspiration for me! I started my UA-cam channel because of your videos and while I was learning how to shoot film you were a great guide.
Love photography in a snowstorm. I live in MN so I had to embrace it, otherwise I'd be sitting inside for half the year... thanks for the video Willem!
I have almost that exact church shot 5:51 myself, except in summer😅. Some of my best photos (and current desktop wallpaper) were taken at that spot. Beautiful location can’t wait to go back.
You said Mama Mia and I didn't see Abba anywhere. That sunrise looked great in digital (smirk). But seriously...you are so much better as a photographer than most of the guys I subscribe to on this thing.
Man I wanna say a lot of things about these photos and locations because ~whew~ but also just how calm and positive you are in a potentially stressful situation with that rear-end. That was such a little snippet but tells me a lot about you as a person. :-)
Love your work. I live in an old village in the UK outside of London and often think how you would shoot this area. It is very often overcast and grey here. Would you ever shoot in those conditions?
As always beautiful photos! I really enjoy these types of videos where we just follow you along on one of your trips and watch everything unfold. I was wondering did you darkroom print all the images you showed in this video? I am really enjoying the darkroom printing process however I struggle once it comes to scanning the prints. Would be amazing to see a video where you explain the process of scanning your darkroom prints and how you keep the colours as true as possible etc...
A couple of those river shots were amazing and the dog / road / fog pic too... Awesome work. Your videos always make me want to shoot more but also remind me that I never should have sold my RZ kit with numerous lenses, backs, etc. Biggest mistake ever. I know this is a 7 vid and I have a 7 and I love it. Super sharp, lightweight, etc. But I miss my RZ and cameras are a sickness as everyone here probably knows lol....
i have to say I love to shoot in winter since the image tends to be sharper during winter VS summer since the atmospheric pressure causes the particles to be concentrated thus light that transmit to the film negatives go in a straight line thus image looks really sharp and crisper than during summer times. Mornings and Sunset are Pristine beauty great vid :D
This video makes me wanna go on a photography road trip soooo badlyyyy!! I love all of your sunrise and sunset photos, and your videos make me appreciate these times of day even more :)) Btw I'm not sure if you'll see this, but I ordered your book when it first came out and somehow never received it. Now that it's no longer available in your store, I'm not sure who to contact to find out what to do. I was really happy to have it, and I've been looking forward to seeing your pictures on paper for a long time, so if you could assist me in any way, I'd be extremely thankful!
Does anyone here know what the cold does to your film, exposure time-wise? I'm out here shooting in Chicago in 7 *F but I'm unsure if I should (probably) overexpose or not.
man there's something about taking photos when its cold, whether its the color and the atmosphere or just the sniffles you get as your hands start to go numb, its just so nice
Not feeling my fingers 😌
i love when my 40 year old electric camera stops working🥰🥰🥰
That shot at 10:50 is absolutely sublime. Great work, Willem!
the snow textures at 10:45 and the snowblowing at 11:04!! WOW
That thumbnail is absolutely gorgeous
Hector is too good 😌
Great images - so cool to see Hoover Dam in all its glory, without crowds milling about. Thanks for taking us along.
I was shocked! Thank you!

So good!! Loving these images, makes me go on a photography trip really badly!
your videos are always so chill, loved the photos!
Great shots all round. The one at 10:44 would look deadly as a print. Nice travel photography content mate!
Beautiful stills and video. Great work Willem!

I need a roadtrip bad man!! Love it!😂😂

My fave shot was the inside of the hotel (?) room
Love how you shot this, thanks for taking us along with you!
Absolutely love these videos Willem! Super inspirational and makes me want to go back to film every time! Thanks.
always vibey my dude !
In a word, magnificent ♥️ it's like walking on a wonderful micro planet with an outstanding guide 👌 Thank you for this discovery 🙏
Love your work. I live in an old village in the UK outside of London and often think how you would shoot this area. It is very often overcast and grey here. Would you ever shoot in those conditions?
This is making me sad that NYC didn't get snow this year! Great vid willem (:
Man, your color grading on video and photos is just amazing!
Willem, you're the best! A very relaxing video as always
Looved this video! Thank you for the inspiration 🙌
Very chill video as always! Love to see the these gorgeous landscapes and the frames you captured. Can´t wait till I visit America next summer..
Loved this one so much!! Cheers from Brazil. I wish i could photograph snow too
Gorgeous
That church shot might be my new fav
hope hector got his long weekend check hahaha
great vid. how do you go about metering for something with the hot shoe flash on like at 9:59 ? does the 7 have some sort of TTL flash capabilities?
Lovely locations. Do you ever use graduated filters to balance the exposures and bring out the colors in the early morning skies?
No graduated filter :)
All of these shots are so amazing dude…
It is crazy how low the water level is in the reservoir.
I don't shoot film anymore because of the price, but man it's always a treat when you upload. Instant watch!
Makes me want to go back every time!
gUESS the price went up?

As of today (1-31-2023), the Snowfall in Mammoth at the summit is 515 inches. and 385 inches down at the lodge. California does indeed get snow...
Nice! you went to Narnia!. Thanks for the Video makes me wanna get off my lazy ass and go there!.
Strong work Willem what film stock were you using?
Thanks for sharing your road trip with dam and the snow. Or dam snow accident….
Hoover GODdamn
Favorite photo 10:05
I need some more of that guy Hector 3:50
so cool man
How do you meter in the snow? Do you trust the meter of the Mamiya? Or do you use an incident light meter?
The stills in this were phenomenal as always, but the videography was mind blowing! Particularly around 7:24. Is that the blackmagic or FX3? Thanks!
iPhone 🙌
🫠
Thank you for a beautiful journey in only 11 minutes! I know you are a film guy, but I was hoping you had taken your GFX along. 🙂

Mooie film , prachtig sneeuwlandschap . Was dat een wolf op de straat of hyena ?
2:31 that's a wolf!
Prachtig werk, per usual 💯. Greetings from 🇧🇪

Anyone know where Willem’s green half zip fleece is from
Patrolling the Mojave almost makes you wish for a Nuclear Winter.
