Just bought it here in greece for a ridiculous price. It was a 3 months demo in a shop and got it for 580 euros .Nice upgrede from my G7Xii ...God how i missed the evf. Super happy ,excellent piece The only downsize is battery life. Canon claims abou 170 clicks from evf and a week ago on a day trip i got 90 clicks with a full battery
That’s great to hear. But yeah battery life is definitely an issue with these models. They’re just tiny, but thankfull that means it’s not too much hassle to carry two!!
Are you talking about the G5 or G7? I had an issue and contacted Canon direct and they told me there have been no firmware updates for the G5 since release. I want to be able to see the actual focal length out of the step zoom in auto mode. Eg. aperture mode, what is the current focal length in mm. I don’t want the pre set focal lengths, 24 28 35 etc. I want more precise control over it. A very helpful gentleman on the phone couldn’t find the answer and an email resulted in an auto reply.

Please, do not only state the advantages, but also the disadvantages otherwise is not that useful to the viewer (and looks like promo content). The video state several times "without cutting corners", but beyond the lack of audio input, a shoe mount or not being waterproof, they main drawback from my point of view is the lack of Dual pixel autofocus. Older cameras in the same price range, such as the Canon M50, already included DPAF so there was no reason not to include it. The older contrast-based autofocus used in both the G5x II and G7x III is painfully slow (mostly in the G7x III) and causing issues to buyers. I wish the video had also discuss cons like that one
I do try to keep a balance in these videos, and there is always a clear ‘bad bits’ section for everything we cover. However this is done with the cameras market place & demographic in mind. This is a compact camera, that replaces another budget compact. And yes I totally agree that dpaf and other features found in mirrorless or even dslr’s would make this a more complete unit, it seemed harsh to add those as critiques as it’s a pocket friendly compact in the Powershot range, aimed squarely at consumer users. The reason I even covered it at all was it’s value and ability to capture decent video, making a good option for entry level video. Now let’s set the gauntlet to canon, an entry level compact with those features, now that would be worth getting excited about!!
Build quality feels down on my canon g7x my ii , even the flash doesn’t feel as sturdy. Suppose the weight is down a bit but doesn’t feel as substantial.
Better seems far more related to camera sample than inherent goodness. I've seen sample comparisons where both appear to have an edge in lens quality. AF absolutely goes to the Sony.
@@corystansbury nah, rarely true Canon will come on top lens wise vs a very bad Song copy. I shoot Canon R5 professionally but for travel, the rx100 vii and rx10 IV have no equal from Canon or smt other company
"Without cutting corners" The so called video blogging model G7X had several issues, so I hope these are now fixed: How long can you record 4K video until the camera turns off due to overheating? How fast does the auto focus react? Is there a mechanical image stabilizer?
Very rare you get IBIS in a point and shoot. The AF is ok, not DSLR fast. Rec times I never tested beyond the normal length of clips we shoot. All opinions in the review are given is relativity to the product, it's price point and intended users. So if you were to compare a point and shoot like the G5Xii with a DSLR or mirrorless then it obviously won't hold up. But in it's own right, that's were my opinion sits.

Two bits left out, You need the latest firmware installed as this fixes bugs / focus issues and that there is a 9.59s time limit to 4K.

That’s interesting. I suppose it is more lightweight so is bound to diminish the quality a bit.
The rx100 vii is better which superior lens and AF. I do prefer the Canon shorter but faster lens just wish it was a better lens overall and with pdaf

Buzzing from what though? If it’s already been recorded there an easy fix in PP (noise reduction plugin)
