Welcome to the Tupperware Skies of October in England! I hope things brighten up for you. November's weather forecast is looking much better. And remember, when walking at Halloween, keep off the moors! Keep to the road...
A singing hiker jumping out of the mist... That would have been fun on my PW😅. The views on that stretch are stunning (in good weather). Hope the mist lifts for you because there are some amazing sections coming up!!
Hello Christina, yes that smile even on a dull day, always interesting. You play the piano so nicely, you are a lady of many talents. Well done. Regards Andrew.
You are so talented..singing, dancing, playing piano... I wonder what else? :) Oh and... editing in an hour! It takes me a week to edit a small vid lol Another enjoyable video. Thank you..
The views on the section are lovely…in good weather. It’s a lottery though. I walked it in July and it was cloudy like this. The weather is looking pretty good for the next week up here in the north so keep going, you’re smashing it.
Almost setting my alarm for midday to catch up with your journey. Such a shame about the weather but at least it’s mostly dry (not underfoot) so you’re not getting cold and wet. Great snippets of your home life 😊
This day is very much a 'vast views' day. Luckily, I've had two clear days and one snow white out day there. When I did the PW I could see all the way to the River Ribble Estuary where I live. It looked like a silver dagger. The Fountain Inn is my favourite in Hawes. The food, especially the breakfast, is 10/10. For future reference there is a great fish and chip shop (cafe and take away) in Hawes. Midway between the Fountain and the Youth Hostel. In my considerable experience it is in the top 5 I've been to.
You are too hard on yourself, the videos are just fine. Day 6 video was just fine. I'm perfectly happy just seeing the countryside and hearing your thoughts while hiking. I don't need perfection lol
Ahh such a shame about the fog. Hawes is lovely....my wife and I always go for a meal / drink at the Fountain, usually sit outside and people watch. It's a different place with the sun shining. The waterfalls at Keld are next, if you go see them, and then a pint at The Tan Hill pub.
I remember Ling Gill. We camped there after walking from Fountains Fell. Penyghent cafe was open then and we filled our faces! We camped every night but I'm struggling to remember each of the places we stopped. We were in a bit of a hurry so we did 20 miles a day average over 14 days. Bill
Yeah, well the mist can be a bit troublesome if the navigation is difficult but on the plus side it can be quite atmospheric 👻👽💀 but: you have time to think, and sing (great musical score at around 5 and 14 minutes) Nothing wrong with your editing Christina - top class!
Sorry I couldn't make it Christina, unfortunately work gets in the way, 😒 I was walking the Pennine Way up over Great Shunner 3 days ago and was OK, nothing to worry about, plenty of slabs to save you bogging in. Round Kisdon towards Keld is slippery & the ferns get you wet as they are just dying down but again nothing too bad. Am forgetting we are a day behind following you so hope all was Ok on your crossing into Swaledale ATB George
The P/W for the majority of it sticks to high ground following the backbone of England unfortunately at this time of year views can be restricted which for a large part makes this walk so fulfilling when you have good weather. Thanks for sharing your experiences on the P/W.
Day 8 could be a bit tough if you head for Tan Hill. It looks as if it could also be misty which would be a shame as that is a really beautiful stretch of the Pennine Way... Best wishes.
You're videos are great Christina and very enjoyable, the super noodles may have tasted better if it was the last thing in you're pack and you're hungry, did you manage to see Ribblehead Viaduct through the mist? It is to mild for this time of year, that's why it's damp and misty, Are you and your sister twins as you are the double of each other? Prepare yourself for wet feet when walking over Sleightholme Moor just after leaving the Tan Hill Inn, it is boggy in the summer never mind the end of October.
The yha,if your a member, used to allow.you to pitch your tent in the yha grounds, and pay for a shower and meal. It may have changed but its unusual to turn a backpacker away if you ask.
Sorry the mist and low cloud spoilt your day! ...google pictures of pen y ghent, ingleborough and the ribbleshead viaduct to see what the weather stole from you,

I didn't think anything was off or sub par with day 6!! Christina the perfectionist!! Even your "shitty editing job" videos are brilliant!!
Nice piano playing, kudos!

I am interested in the differences between hiking in the UK and the USA, Eg, equipment, clothing, etc.
Ill do a gear video after im done with the trail. If i get out of here alive, that is. Lol
She's the perfect person to ask. But the U.S. has quite the variety of geography and the answer would certainly depend on where you plan on hiking.

😀two pound to pitch up for the night seems very cheap Christina, when was your book written with the price guide 1965😀
Hahaha. Maybe written in 18th century. Lol. I think it was just a few years ago
