hey from bigfoot territory . a long time ago i was a 12 year old in a kawasaki shop , my best friends parents owned the kawasaki shop in town brad lackey was 500cc us national champion ( our hero ) in 1972 and i remember people saying if you have a 10 dollar head buy a 10 dollar helmet ... the wheel is the same principal..... i was taught this at 12 yrs old .... THANK YOU for caring and SHOWING and trying to teach people about what is important .i have ridden the majority of the years and , exclusively ( no car ) since 2008 i have been riding a 1983 honda ft 500 acot ( FT single not vt twin ) daily since 2020 ....... this getting long sorry . anyway " any road ? " you just reminded me of hearing "if you have a 10 dollar head buy a 10 dollar helmet " . keep up the good work .i enjoy the tips and stress free fabrication . T H A N X
My garage is 8m by 6m and takes about an hour to get 10c from my wood stove from cold with a roaring fire, smaller fire is about 2 hours. 20 minutes to get the same amount of heat is awesome from the diesel heater.
100 percent… Had a delivery driver smash into my front kerb in her car yesterday, I was outside changing the clutch on my car. I heard an almighty bang and hiss as she burst her front tyre and did god knows what kind of damage to her steering/suspension etc. She asked me to help her change the wheel and I felt awful but I said no… she was a foreign lady and didn’t get what I was saying, but if she’d driven off and something had snapped, collapsed etc I’d never have forgiven myself. Different scenario I know but sometimes it’s best to just say no and avoid any liability…
@ ua-cam.com/video/uKSjnrwb7vo/v-deo.html that reminds me of the time a WHEELBARROW flew off the back of a council truck about80 metres in front of me. It bounced around the road like a rugby ball following where ever i pointed my front wheel...in the end I was pinned against the central barrier at a stop with no contact made. Thankfully the traffic behind saw the commotion and didnt flatten me from behind
Welding wheels is insane. You are 100% right as always. You need just 60 second to warm up any space with the warm air coming out from a certain Goatee para veteran tuff guy. 😂
Are there double standards in play here. It is ok to weld up an internally rusted swing arm where the extent of the damage can not be assessed, but it is ok to weld a wheel. Makes you go hmmm. Both parts support the weight of the vehicle and are subjected to side forces; where is the difference? Please explain it to me.
One is milled sheet steel the other is cast Aluminium. Now I can give you a crash course on ther difference between milled steel and ally, the fatigue limits of aluminium vs steel, the difference between direct load on structural support and that not all forces are equal...
Oh and to add. The two failures are completely different. The swing arm is corrosion. You can see this, fractures due to impact damage, specifically in aluminium you can't always see. No one xrays parts for rust, they do for fractures.
Del is so full of shit. Glad I didn’t buy that heater. Why does he lie about everything? If it was good, I would have bought it. Love ya mat…… laugh out loud funny every time.
Clarke had their complaints department on standby after Del released his video on the 3 min heating capabilities of the XR 110.

I'm glad Del was able to help you with this.
100% Correct Matt, Welding up a wheel is not worth the risk! Till tomorrow. 👍

have you measured the co and co2 content inside the workshop when it's been on for 20 minutes?
No.
The first blade wheel on Flea Bay £53.97 that's why you don't weld wheels
and safety obs
Phone time went from 14.23 to 14.43 in 20 minutes, that's undeniably 20 minutes, either the test worked or the editor had good attention to detail

@@thedirtyworkshop Ok, thanks. I would like to understand this subject better.
