@@DirtE30 No dash lights will be present with the tuning box installed, it will function as it does stock. The message on the cluster during our 0-60 testing was from the traction control "VCS" being turned off.
This engine has been on the market for 3 years and no one has upgraded the engine or big turbo engine only small upgrades I hope we see 600hp+ at the wheels in the TT v6 v3. , middle east gulf country the LC300 with same engine TTv6 3.5 is number one car out there we all want to upgrade that engine and trust me if you try to sale this VR tune in Qatar or any middle east gulf country you will gain alot of money bro
600hp is already pretty hard to reach for v6's without proper octane fueling like e85 or high race octane. 450-500hp seems to be the max these v6 trucks can do. The v6 f150 ecoboost has been out since 2014 and they're still not making 600 without a serious engine build or fueling kits.
I just picked my 23' Hybrid TRD-OR up 2 days ago - and it hauls balls. Like ridiculously fast. Shockingly fast. I have another car in my stable that's the track car and go fast car (that is quite fast. Sub 4 1/4) and the Tundra feels like it pulls harder when the electric motor and boost peaks at 2500ish rpm. I am so surprised and impressed with this truck. It's a gem. Toyota crushed it with this one.
I was just checking out this dyno vs my 7.3 Tremor dyno from 5 Star and it crazy how similar the graphs are! Nice pulls. Hope they get the engine mess sorted out. Last I heard it was just poor block cleaning before assembly. Not bad Toyota!
Glenn, The plug and play tuning box will only work on force induction engines such as this new 3.5L Turbo V6, however, the V8 5.7L iForce Tundra's can be tuned with our ECU flash tuning! The benefits are also very impressive providing a large benefit to throttle response, horse power and torque along with an MPG efficiency improvement of roughly 7-8%. In addition we can also tune the transmission on the V8 models making for much improved shifting and driveability.
@@chrisdrives7544 they all have the same base engine but the SR has lower hp and torque just tuned more for a work truck and cruising around to jobs I have the sr5 but I test drove the SR it was a lot better than the base v6 engines in the ram and f150

I assumed you would have swapped out the stock intercooler. Pedal management would help throttle tip in. Zero - 60 at 6.5 isn’t bad in a heavy truck on 35’s. You can feel that. Banks’ pedal monster might help w/lag. How’s the MPG when you’re taking it easy?
I’m confused. In the video you say the boost pressure sensor is in the front of the engine bay and the map is in the rear however in the instructions on y’all’s website it says the opposite. Which is which?

Rad vid. Do you know if this supports the hybrid? Just picked up a 23' I ordered 6 months ago and it's pretty amazing - the electric motor takes up the low end torque while the turbos spool then boost comes on and finishes out the rev range - it's wicked. Also, full digital gauge cluster and camera rear view. Not use to my Toyota trucks having any tech.... (small suggestion coming from a professional public speaker - quit slapping your hands/fist together every 2 seconds. I get it's totally subconscious, but the slap is loud and gets obnoxious.)
I have the jb4 and it runs flawlessly, can also clear codes and datalog. The torque on the jb4 is more linear and doesn't drop off as much at the end of the rpm range too..
Agreed! We're also a JB4 dealer and it's a great product. In regards to the torque curve, it's relative to the tire size and the dyno you're testing it on (as well as a few other factors).
Great work, curious how you guys expect the 10 speed to handle the extra torque. Do we know the torque rating on the transmission or can we assume it will handle hybrid tundra torque numbers?
The real reason is EPA bs regulations...new cars have to have thresholds for gross vehicle weight for coupes and sedans...new cars have to be lighter to hit certain mpg goals...and bmw had a lightweight slim motor ready from its Z1 frames...basically it's not really a toyota supra...it's a new bmw Z1 with a toyota badge
We did the testing in 4H for the best 0-60 possible, everyone has their own opinion about this but we encourage Tundra owners to do their 0-60 testing however they may feel works best for them! Thanks for watching.

Hey guys! If you want to true 0-60, what you need to do is turn off traction all the way by holding down the traction button for like 3-5 seconds, orange lights appear (2), then put on sport mode and 4h. My 0-60 was like 5.5 seconds lol I have the Tundra 2022 Platinum v6 twin turbo non hybrid.

@@strongme80 honestly I wasn't looking/wanted a truck, my wife did, but our church always needs a truck and no one can find one. I had an odd feeling to go looking for one and when I found it I told my wife, if it's over 24k we will get it. But it's God's truck not ours. And they gave me 27k for our Lexus NX. Idk who will need help or who we will bump into because of it. But don't envy me man. I'm the worst out there. Ask God to give you that blessing and career in Jesus's name and for a direction to light your way. He will show show you the way. But just make sure you give him the glory if you land that 6 figure job.
TCS and stability was fully disabled for our testing. The 37" tires fully mounted weigh roughly 130lbs a piece so with factory sizing I am sure we would shave at least .5 seconds.

I bought a tundra 22. V6 one not too long ago Wanting to know if i should rebuild it and set it up for more hp .. If i put a supercharger on the 3.6 L to set up a twin charge system in it..what yalls thought? I own the truck.
I'd rather have the Tundra plus those same modifications on a stock height tire. Taller tires change the gearing. A Taller tire looks good but offers no gain in performance on the street.
Are you sure this won't void the warranty? Do you have this in writing from Toyota? Maybe someone should read the fine print on the warranty. If they catch you racing they will void the warranty. It's probably a good idea that you guys didn't show the plates on this truck.
@@swaemy I believe the jb4 is more of a piggy back system vs the typical “tuner” like an access port that takes the stock tune off the ecu saves it and puts a different tune on it this leaving an obvious change.
@@swaemy As long as you remove it before Toyota sees it, they will never know it was there. They are just feeding the different systems manipulated numbers so it will produce better response, power, and allows it to breath better. Just unplug everything prior to taking it in, and the world will never know. (Honestly, I like this more than an ECU tune.)
Depends on what map you're running, we have an Eco mode that is customizable and that will limit throttle response for better fuel economy. But if you're running the tune on Race map all the time, you'll sacrifice miles per gallon for more smiles per gallon.
This engine is highly tunable that is true. You can easily get 500+ horsepower and torque out of it but what is the point? You will definitely not get 1,000,000 miles out of it. It’s not a race car it’s a truck. If you use it like a truck, it should easily last 1,000,000 miles especially if you change the oil every 5000 miles. mine is close to the 100,000 mark after one and a half years. I used it a lot and I needed it a lot. It’s working great and hasn’t skipped a beat. It’s an extremely reliable engine if you use it like it was intended to be used, however if you want to get the reliability of a Ford tune, the hell out of it and you will get probably around 200,000 out of it.
The Tundra produces a consistent 15PSI at WOT on stock software, we are producing 18.5PSI with the tuning box installed. For reference you will see a quick peak spike of 18psi on stock software and 23.5psi w/ the VRTuned unit installed.
Going through the "eco, sport and race" modes on the phone does it also go with the "eco, normal and sport" modes on the trucks dial? Like if I have the trucks dial in eco. And the phone is set to racing is I using map 7 or is I still using the eco mode and have to change the dial on the truck to sport to get it to the top performance?
Currently HPTuners does not support any Tundra model north of 2021. Unfortunately there is no hardware/software protocoled for Toyotas latest micro protection on these new ECU's so they cannot be flash tuned.
Both options are great, but you would save a lot more money opting for the gas-only and getting a tune like ours! Either way, you won't be disappointed! Thanks for watching.
There are many variables that come into play when getting the best numbers out of a tune. Such as larger tires, Arizona temperature (100°F+), parasitic loss on the dyno, etc. But we're sure there are some great alternative tunes out there, thank you for watching!
5 Star Tuning is flash tuning the Ford EcoBoost platforms. This ECU type cannot be flashed yet. When it can we expect to be able to achieve higher gains as we will be able to target other variables.
So you're talking about new maps being flashed on Ford ECUs, while this is a MAP 'tune' on a Toyota that doesn't touch the afr maps 'directly'. COMPLETELY DIFFERENT. To pickup almost 100 whp on a MAP tune is absolutely impressive. I don't get the manufacturer d!ck measuring crap. This is making more power without touching a wrench, that's neat.
Adding a pedal controller will increase the actual throttle pedal response, however it will not increase boost pressure or reduce boost lag. The tuning box increases boost pressure and brings boost in sooner providing that additional torque at a lower RPM range.
...so how long will the engine last now? This is the problem with turbos. The motor is already small for the size of vehicle, stressed, and now we over stress it. It is impressive what it can do but wil you get 200,000 miles....probably not.
This powertrain and factory long block is extremely robust, as all Tundra platforms have been. With the additional boost, torque and HP this powertrain is still well within the factory threshold it can safely and reliably support.
Small displacement has nothing to do with how it’s built. I’m sure the cylinder walls. Connecting rods and heads are much beefier. Just like a diesel engine of the same size as a gas is built much stronger.
@@Captndarty That is where you are wrong. Diesel engines are made of cast iron these turbo gas motors are all aluminum with cast iron slides that go into the pistons. The biggest villain in turbos is the almost diesel PSI that has to be implimented of fuel injection and since it is not oil based like diesel the fuel does not burn completely off. Toyota did impliment a self cleaning system so maybe it will not have the same horrible problems the Ecoboost has had. Bottom line is this you cannot have constant load on an engine and expect it to last long. The turbo has come a long ways but they are still not as reliable and have longevity like a naturally asperated motor. I lived through a Twin turbo I know.
@@SuperSnakePlisskenIt's wild you actually came back to this lol. They recalled because there was debris inside the engine after the manufacturing process. Not for the engine failing due to it not being robust. Huge difference.

Elevation really kills ice engines, my stock landcruiser gets 6.2 0-100kmh at ~100ft elevation

The wiring seems a little different on the SR. The boost controller connection is alluding me right now.

I bought a tundra 22. V6 one not too long ago Wanting to know if i should rebuild it and set it up for more hp .. If i put a supercharger on the 3.6 L to set up a twin charge system in it..what yalls thought? I own the truck.

I'd rather have the Tundra plus those same modifications on a stock height tire. Taller tires change the gearing. A Taller tire looks good but offers no gain in performance on the street.

This will not void any warranties and no it will not leave any footprints, it's a simple plug-n-play modification!
Are you sure this won't void the warranty? Do you have this in writing from Toyota? Maybe someone should read the fine print on the warranty. If they catch you racing they will void the warranty. It's probably a good idea that you guys didn't show the plates on this truck.
@@swaemy I believe the jb4 is more of a piggy back system vs the typical “tuner” like an access port that takes the stock tune off the ecu saves it and puts a different tune on it this leaving an obvious change.
@@swaemy As long as you remove it before Toyota sees it, they will never know it was there. They are just feeding the different systems manipulated numbers so it will produce better response, power, and allows it to breath better.
Just unplug everything prior to taking it in, and the world will never know. (Honestly, I like this more than an ECU tune.)
What mpg do you get after installing this tune?
Depends on what map you're running, we have an Eco mode that is customizable and that will limit throttle response for better fuel economy. But if you're running the tune on Race map all the time, you'll sacrifice miles per gallon for more smiles per gallon.
seeing 15.5mpg city and 18.5 hwy on avg over the last 1200 miles
big tires and wheels KILL mpg.

This engine is highly tunable that is true. You can easily get 500+ horsepower and torque out of it but what is the point? You will definitely not get 1,000,000 miles out of it. It’s not a race car it’s a truck. If you use it like a truck, it should easily last 1,000,000 miles especially if you change the oil every 5000 miles. mine is close to the 100,000 mark after one and a half years. I used it a lot and I needed it a lot. It’s working great and hasn’t skipped a beat. It’s an extremely reliable engine if you use it like it was intended to be used, however if you want to get the reliability of a Ford tune, the hell out of it and you will get probably around 200,000 out of it.
Some people just like to do fun things to their car!

Maybe I missed it but did they say how much more peak boost the engine makes with this box?
Probably only 10-12 psi at peak HP. Closer to 16-18 around peak torque. But Boost is a measure of restriction not HP.
The Tundra produces a consistent 15PSI at WOT on stock software, we are producing 18.5PSI with the tuning box installed. For reference you will see a quick peak spike of 18psi on stock software and 23.5psi w/ the VRTuned unit installed.

And the phone is set to racing is I using map 7 or is I still using the eco mode and have to change the dial on the truck to sport to get it to the top performance?

Currently HPTuners does not support any Tundra model north of 2021. Unfortunately there is no hardware/software protocoled for Toyotas latest micro protection on these new ECU's so they cannot be flash tuned.

Hybrid already has 583 lbs of torque with no tune.

This tune isn't all that impressive. I expected more. 5 star tuning does much more with their Ford tunes.
There are many variables that come into play when getting the best numbers out of a tune. Such as larger tires, Arizona temperature (100°F+), parasitic loss on the dyno, etc. But we're sure there are some great alternative tunes out there, thank you for watching!
5 Star Tuning is flash tuning the Ford EcoBoost platforms. This ECU type cannot be flashed yet. When it can we expect to be able to achieve higher gains as we will be able to target other variables.
So you're talking about new maps being flashed on Ford ECUs, while this is a MAP 'tune' on a Toyota that doesn't touch the afr maps 'directly'.
COMPLETELY DIFFERENT. To pickup almost 100 whp on a MAP tune is absolutely impressive.

Maybe adding a sprint booster to improve the throttle response?
Adding a pedal controller will increase the actual throttle pedal response, however it will not increase boost pressure or reduce boost lag. The tuning box increases boost pressure and brings boost in sooner providing that additional torque at a lower RPM range.

...so how long will the engine last now? This is the problem with turbos. The motor is already small for the size of vehicle, stressed, and now we over stress it. It is impressive what it can do but wil you get 200,000 miles....probably not.
This powertrain and factory long block is extremely robust, as all Tundra platforms have been. With the additional boost, torque and HP this powertrain is still well within the factory threshold it can safely and reliably support.
Small displacement has nothing to do with how it’s built. I’m sure the cylinder walls. Connecting rods and heads are much beefier. Just like a diesel engine of the same size as a gas is built much stronger.
@@Captndarty That is where you are wrong. Diesel engines are made of cast iron these turbo gas motors are all aluminum with cast iron slides that go into the pistons. The biggest villain in turbos is the almost diesel PSI that has to be implimented of fuel injection and since it is not oil based like diesel the fuel does not burn completely off. Toyota did impliment a self cleaning system so maybe it will not have the same horrible problems the Ecoboost has had. Bottom line is this you cannot have constant load on an engine and expect it to last long. The turbo has come a long ways but they are still not as reliable and have longevity like a naturally asperated motor. I lived through a Twin turbo I know.

They recalled because there was debris inside the engine after the manufacturing process. Not for the engine failing due to it not being robust. Huge difference.
